Family vacation

My family of 4, 2 adults and 2 kids, age 15 and 12, had a great vacation at Hotel Xcaret. It was our first visit to Mexico and we cannot wait to go back. Hotel itself was beautiful and food were excellet. Ocean/Beaches are small but there are two of them with not many people in them, so you don't feel crowded at all. The ocean water was clean and beautiful. Claudia at guest service pre-arranged all our trips to Xelha, Xenotes, and Chixhen itza, and also made reservations to restaurants before we arrived. We had many emails back and forth before the trip and she answered all my questions with patience. When we arrived, she greeted us personally and made early check in possible. She then took us to our room and showed the hotel ground on our way. Thank you Claudia for helping us having hassel free and fantastic vacation celebrationg our 20th anniversary. I'd also like to thank you many women and men including trip guides and airport escort who work there tirelessly to make people's vacation experience a better one. Your efforts and hard working has not gone unnoticed. Special thanks to Jose at XinGao for accomodating all our needs. Our kids are still talking about food at XinGao and your service. We hope to go back soon.

Very cool place for our family vacation

We just got back from Xcaret last night. we arrived Wednesday morning and left around noon on sunday. we could have used another day or two for sure. So we weren't sure what to expect being that my wife and I have always gone to Cancun as adults only, and this is our first family vacation to Mexico. our kids are 10 and 8. I'll just do a pro's and cons. first, though, we really weren't understanding what all the parks entail. We only visited two of them, as we liked hanging at the hotel so much and didnt want to get stuck at a park. Pros: -the property is amazing and beautiful. -the beds were amazing! they were so comfortable. -the room itself is so new that its really cool and roomy. Very nice. -the pool...we mainly stayed around the poos closer to the beach. the pool water was the prefect temp. the bartenders were great and didn't mind making virgin strawberry daquiris and shirley temple after shirley temple. -the small beach access was great, we really liked it. they didnt have any seaweed to bug us like other places we have been. -the mercado food wasnt gourmet, but you could find anything you wanted to eat there. it was good though. we ate there a lot as we have young kids, so it was a medium of the road place where you could get anything you want for any meal, breakfast, lunch , or dinner. -the asian food place was awesome as well. It was probably my favorite, but we only ate there once at night, it's one of the only ones where you have to have a reservation. the waiters at this place were the fastest of any place not a buffet. -transportation bus-these seats on this thing were so comfy. that was helpful since the transportation to the airport to and from is about an hour. (PS, dont forget to make a reservation from the hotel to the airport, its required. I misunderstood and we luckily didnt have to wait to long. also, take the earlier bus. we sat on the bus from 1 pm to 1:30 nearly at the hotel waiting for it to leave) -the staff was very helpful and friendly all the way around -Xenotes excursion. I wrote a separate review on this. it's worth the day trip to go on this private tour and fresh water. very cool. I wish the rest of them were like this. -every resort we have been to in Mexico seems to be dominated by Americans (I'm American). This wasnt the case here. I feel like maybe 1 in 10-12 people were American, which I thought was cool. When I leave the USA, I want to feel like I'm not in the USA you know? -my wife said the spa was amazing! Cons: -Las Cuevas restaurant. Although its in the caves which is SO cool, its very hot and there is no breeze to cool you down. We had the guy that comes and brings you the sliced meat come to the table next to us three times and bypass us while our plates sat empty. we were stuck eating beans and rice rolled in tortillas. I was super disappointed in the place. the drinks were slow too. It wasted our night. -Xcaret park. I wasnt sure what to expect. not that it was that bad, but had I known this (and other parks) are public access, I woudn't have gone. luckily it was close and we didnt have to stay all day. The snorkeling was so bad and congested. we got in for 2 minutes and then got out. The wildlife is pretty cool, but that's about it for me. we ate at the caribbean buffet and it wasnt good. I felt like were were at a crowded water park. -price. we used a travel agent and this hotel was about $2000 more than any other place. I booked it basically because I was prepaying for things to do so I wouldnt have to book separate excursions if we stayed somewhere else. all of the cool stuff at the parks seems to be an extra cost, which we didn't do. i really felt like they wanted to upgrade everything for a cost. I dont like that when we paid as much as we did. I we could just book the hotel and forget the parks (aside from Xenotes) we would. that being said, we only visited two parks, Xcaret and Xenotes. I have a feeling Xcaret was similar to Xelha or whatever its called. we just didnt want to have to be gone all day. -concierge could have been better. she said she booked some stuff when she really didnt. wasnt awful, just wasnt really clear. all in all the trip was awesome. I would definitely do things different knowing now what I didnt know then, but we had a great time.

This hotel is incredible. It is the most beautiful place I have ever stayed. Built with care and consideration, no corners cut, every detail thought out and of high quality. Loads of wonderful little touches that make your stay just perfect. All the facilities are top notch. The choice of food is great. The staff are amazing. There are a lot of them and they are always smiling, helpful and genuinely happy to help you. Everyone says 'hola'. The pool is just beautiful. The spa is incredible. There are just not enough superlatives to describe this place. Never done all inclusive before and I think the bar has been set VERY high. Simply. Paradise. Thank you.

Not pet friendly

I am currently in the hotel and the place is great;however, the employees have no idea what a pet friendly hotel is... I brought and paid for my shih tzu to be with me and its day 1 and I had 5 guest service people trying to remove me from public areas where the hotel policies state the only places not alllowed for dogs are restaurant, bars and the pool.. one employee even wanted me to confined my dog to the room, after I showed them the contract I signed they let me be but I felt harrased all day long... on the positive side, they offered me a doggie bed and dog treats

Very pretty but the client service +/-

It’s a very pretty and big hotel! You have a lot of activities but the client service is not as I expected for the type of hotel that it is. They gave to some friends a privilege that when I asked for it they didn’t wanted to give me. Otherwise the hotel is very good
