Not satisfied with apple service
RICHARD P.
Jun 20 2017
We have been using apple for almost 20 years & this is the first time ever that the service was horrible. They couldn't find our reservation at the airport. 30 mins later they finally did. Oscar at the hotel was the worst!!!! He was never there to help us. Also there was no apple party at the hotel. We look forward to that on every vacation & it's always been fantastic. Very very disappointed that there was nothing! Even though we have never had a problem with apple before after this trip we will be looking for another company & no longer recommending this company to our friends & family

The beach walking into the ocean was full of rocks that part was very disappointing and go in the water at all. Someone had a bow movement in the pool and the staff did nothing about it

A great hotel, good food, pools and staff. Only complaint is the reserve too many chairs for the "Platinum Members" that they are not even using. Beach is great but ocean is rocky.

Gorgeous resort! Staff were very friendly and accommodating. The food was excellent, with many choices for both kids and adults. The only drawback is the ocean in front of this property is extremely rocky with lots of seaweed.

Bad experience

The hotel was over booked so we were unable to get in a room till after 4 and that was only for 1 night. We then had to be out by 12 and couldn't get into the new room till after 3 on Monday. We were told we were getting an up grade to an ocean view but the 2nd room was not better. Our free mini bar was never filled and our Apple rep was no help. If this was our 1st trip to Mexico I would never go back. There were more issues to lengthy to explain.

Rooms were great - large and very clean. Although the buffet was good, we found the specialty restaurants to be a little lacking. Very disappointed in the Mexican restaurant, as my 4 kids were expecting quesadillas and burritos, but the waiter didn't even know what that was. Pool was wonderful. Nightly entertainment was OK, but they need a bigger space as it is held in a small area by the pool and there were never enough seats. They could also use a stage, because the shows were very difficult to see.

I don't understand why it was so difficult to make reservations at the restaurants; they only allowed one reservation per day, and it seemed that the three restaurants on the property were always booked. When we did eat at one of the restaurants, they were only 1/3 or so filled.

Daughter's ring
JODIE Y.
Aug 30 2013
Our biggest disappointment was that our young daughter left a ring that we had bought for her on this trip in our hotel room. She knew this right after we left for the airport for our return trip home. The Apple man on the transfer to the hotel called the hotel and they got the ring. When we returned home I worked through our travel agent a hotel employee stated that they would mail the ring, we never received it.

This was my second visit to El Cid in Puerto Morelos. I fell in love with the people and resort when I was there 12 months ago and decided to return with my adult children. We were in a one bedroom suite which was very accommodating for the four of us. We had a separate bedroom with a king bed and in the living area a murphy bed and the staff did upgrade us with an extra bed. The room was clean and well kept with a fridge stocked with soft drinks, water and adult beverages. There are six restaurants on the property, seven counting the breakfast buffet and we were fortunate enough to eat at all of them. The food was fabulous and the staff was at our beckon call for whatever we needed. We did visit several of the bars on the property, but our favorites were the Pool Bar where Oscar and his son, Oscar, Jr. were working every day. Whatever we wanted we got. If he didn't have it, he would get it for us. We give them a 10+ rating. The Lobby Bar is where we would have a nightcap and the bartenders there were extraordinary......Salvador, Jose, Cocktail Waitress Matilda - we thank you for your service and friendship. Jose, who works in the Platium Club area was there last year when my friend and I visited - he remembered us and he was just as friendly, helpful and accommodating as before. Miss Becky in the Concierge Area was always there to help with anything we needed. There are several pools on the property, two of which are very kid friendly. Even with the kids it was very quiet and enjoyable. Again, we've been there twice and it will probably be an annual vacation for the family. It was great.

I was very scared to visit this resort based on the trip advisor reviews. I threw caution to the wind and gathered my family including in-laws and kids for a long weekend. I do not regret the decision. We had a marvelous vacation. Anyone who gave this place a bad review has not seen a bad resort. The resort The resort is nice but small. The beach at the Ventus and close to the marina is the better portion. The other parts are rocky but not totally unusable. Basically look for areas reserved for platinum club members and set up on front of it. The rooms were nice and I’m very impressed by the use of water. Water conservation is important. Air conditioning runoff is used to water the grass. There is some type of mechanical plant on the facility that let off a sulfuric odor. It did not bother me after a day or so but initially I thought someone had horrible gas. The el cid is a better resort for families as the Ventus is more sterile and had a lot of adults only areas but the Ventus infinity pool for everyone is heated so it makes it better on 60 and 70 degree days. There was also an adults only pool. Regardless of which resort you stay on you get access to everything. The concept if the heated pool is so great, the only thing missing is a fire pit or outdoor heaters. The main pool at the El Cid is fun boasting a water slide and 13 foot jump area. My kids loved walking to the marina and checking out the dolphins. Don’t go in the gift shop as everything is overpriced. $60 us for a small stuffed animal is ridiculous. $10 us for refrigerator magnet. The nighttime entertainment could be better. The shows were outdoors. It was freezing. There is a convention center. That may be a better space for shows. We enjoyed the Beyoncé and lady gaga show, as well as a magic show but after midnight everything seems to shut down. We tried the bar at the Ventus lobby for dancing but there was no music and people were just sitting around. There are bands in the so did lobby but they are also hit or miss. The resort caters to many Americans. There were a bunch of mid westerners and Canadians during our visit. The restaurants close early, which I’m not used to. It was nice being able to communicate but it makes the experience less authentic when the food and experiences cater to American tastes. The resort also does not offer free Wi-Fi which is a total bummer. They charge $60/day per device. Wi-Fi is not that expensive and should be given. Gratis. I am on vacation so I need to check out so not having access did not bother me. The Food The food was actually better than most of the other all-inclusive resorts I’ve stayed in. The Mercado Dr Delores located at the Ventus resort is a great concept for all-inclusive. You get access to both the Ventus and do El Cid’s dining facilities Will I stay at el cid again? Yes! I had a great time.

We spent 7 days at this all inclusive resort, as a family of 7. The service, staff, resort, grounds & food were all exceptional. The room was so clean with prompt & attentive housekeeping. We loved all of the restaurants, the breakfast buffet at the Italian restaurant & lunch buffet at the Mexican restaurant were fantastic. Our favorite dinner place was the Mercato del Dolores- delicious and casual with fantastic service. Great snorkeling & deep sea fishing. Great entertainment around the pool with super drink service at the pool and beach. The spa and massage was heavenly. It was a dream get away and just what we needed! We will definitely be back.

Not as good as expected

There were ants in one of the three bedrooms. The theft of a Kobo e-reader from a locked room has yet to be addressed. The meals in the “reserved dining rooms” were reasonable. Evening meal service needed more staff, we had one server for nine people. Lunch meals and breakfast meals were excellent.

Wonderful resort, just beautiful!

This is my 3rd time at El Cid and we keep coming back because of the wonderful staff and food options. I constantly see staff doing maintenance and keeping up with the facility. I loved walking into my room everyday seeing it all neat and clean. My family spent a week there and never felt like we ran out of things to do. The activities staff had plenty of things for guests to participate in. Otherwise, we just lounged around and grabbed little snacks here and there at the new mercado nextdoor at Ventus.
