It would have been helpful to know the importance of making dinner reservations for the week upon arrival. We were only able to eat anywhere but the buffers one time.

Our room was very clean. The two double beds were extremely comfortable. The Murphy bed was very hard without a mattress pad or cushion but housekeeping did bring one and put it on the bed when requested. The restaurants were good. The Mediterranean was average and our server was less than attentive. However, the remainder of the restaurants in the resort were excellent! Beach had many weeds and algae but the beach staff was working very hard to clean it up.

I have already written to Apple concerning the inaccurate description of "upgrade." I don't expect much will be done, as I never hear about questions related to MANY past stays booked through Apple. Now for El Cid...our family is not fond of the "cafeteria" style food option @ the Marketplace. Guests must eat there if specialty restaurant reservations aren't available, and they're booked many, many nights. We arrived on a Thursday and couldn't get a reservation for anything after 9:00 until Sunday. We had children in our group that needed to eat earlier. And we had adults that needed the same thing. It got dark quite early and the pools were cold, so that would have been much too late. The beach is okay. Most areas are reserved for folks who upgrade to Platinum. It's difficult to find a spot for 5 or more people. As far as the rating...it's off the mark we feel! And we have stayed at MANY resorts in that area! The food options, the beach seating methods and the push for Platinum made it lower on the Apple scale.

We stayed here two years ago and loved it which is why we went back with additional family members. Since then, they built El CID Ventus next door. That side has a beautiful large pool that no one uses because of no entertainment and no pool bar. Everyone from this hotel uses Marinas pool. Itís packed. It canít handle the amount of people. You must be at the pool BEFORE 730 to even attempt to get a pool chair. Again, on the Ventus side, they put a buffet with different stations and a French restaurant. Thatís it. So again, everyone uses Marinas restaurants. We checked in on a Saturday and went to make reservations at the restaurants and we could not get dinner in the 6-630 hour. So we either had to have dinner by 530 and get off the beach early or dinner at 8 and miss the shows. There is not enough seats for everyone at the shows. In the conference center show, people were packed in, lined on the walls and sitting on the aisles. Outside, people had to stand and drag pool chairs to sit. This is a beautiful property and we loved it before Ventus. We will not return until they fix these problems. This seemed to be the feeling amongst other guests we talked to. A couple employees mentioned they were going to build a stage 3 also. I also want to mention that the Mexican restaurant at Marina was open last time was closed for dinner now. Hope Marina El CID makes some changes soon!

Wasn't sure what to expect but it was amazing and are hoping to go back there next year. It was clean and had friendly staff. Our butler Kevin was great. We loved it and our boys had a great time too. Can't wait to go back.

If very good was a category in the rating system, a couple of the excellent ratings would has been given very good. Regarding the beach rating, there was an unbelievable amount of seaweed washing up all day every day. This is nature and should not reflect on the hotel. However, the water at the beach is loaded with rocks. This makes it very difficult to experience the water.

After a long day of travel (due to weather) we were happy to finally arrive at the Resort. We are a married couple and clearly had booked an upgrade to a Junior Suite with a king size bed through our travel agent and Apple Vacations (we had proof of same on our itinerary). Upon check-in, we were advised by the desk staff that there were no Junior Suites with king size beds available as the hotel was full and that for the evening we would be in a room with two double beds and perhaps be moved the next day. After much back and forth and an argument we were provided with a Junior Suite with king size bed which mystically appeared in their computer system!

Not satisfied with apple service

We have been using apple for almost 20 years & this is the first time ever that the service was horrible. They couldn't find our reservation at the airport. 30 mins later they finally did. Oscar at the hotel was the worst!!!! He was never there to help us. Also there was no apple party at the hotel. We look forward to that on every vacation & it's always been fantastic. Very very disappointed that there was nothing! Even though we have never had a problem with apple before after this trip we will be looking for another company & no longer recommending this company to our friends & family

The beach walking into the ocean was full of rocks that part was very disappointing and go in the water at all. Someone had a bow movement in the pool and the staff did nothing about it

A great hotel, good food, pools and staff. Only complaint is the reserve too many chairs for the "Platinum Members" that they are not even using. Beach is great but ocean is rocky.

We were to arrive 3/13/19 but were stranded in Denver for 2 nights due to snow storm. The Hotel did agree to extend our stay 2 nights since we lost the first two nights. We stayed in the back area- building 18, 5th floor. It was very nice. Stayed in building 17 (ocean view) & 14 (ocean front) before on other trips they are nice too. The Italian restaurant is our favorite place but their lasagna dish recipe has changed, not as good. The activity staff doesn't seem to do as much as they have in the past. I would love to bring the boys again but.....Omar at the swing bar is a great place to hang out in the evenings. Delores is a great addition, nice place to eat. My husband and I travel with only carryons, we do the bike tour ride into town and pick up sunscreen at the store ($12). Over by Marina there is a new building/game room but you have to be a vacation club member to have access. Needless to say it was empty both times we checked it out. Very nice clean resort.

Our first time at an All Inclusive. Our room was very nice with a swim up pool. We had a view of the main pool. There were many restaurants but our favourite was the seafood restaurant which was down on the beach by the dolphin area. We celebrated a birthday there and when we arrived at our room after dinner the room was all decorated. There was entertainment throughout the resort. A good holiday!

Spring break 2019 at Marina El Cid was excellent. Family of 5 fit comfortably in family room with 2 double beds and a Murphy bed. Buffets were great. Hotel encourages some up charges but we were happy with our room as is.

Overall a great resort

Our recent trip to Mexico & Marina El Cid was excellent! The staff went above & beyond ensuring we had a great time. One exception however was the TRATTORIA DI GULIO restaurant. We wanted to save our "fancy meal" for our last night in Mexico, but they lost our reservation then went on to quote a dress code policy of no beach sandals allowed in regards to our children. Our kids were NOT wearing sandals but rather than argue about it went elsewhere in disgust. This poor customer service cost this review one star. That experience aside, we would recommend Marina El CID as we had a fabulous time otherwise.

Only thing i wasn't a fan of was the beach....

This was a very nice resort with great service and lots of amenities. The food was good and the kids loved the pool with the cliff jump! Very fun! Room was a great size and we fit a family of 5 just fine. The only thing i wasn't super impressed with was the beach. I don't mind seaweed that much but there are definitely alot of big rocks that prevent you from going into the water in certain areas but there is a nice area down by the rock wall that has a sandy entry into the water!
