Great Value
Feb 06 2018
In my opinion, the Emporio Ixtapa is a "no frills" hotel. Rooms are clean, food is acceptable, staff is wonderful. It has what we are looking for and we are repeat visitors. We like the size and location is also great!

Hotel Rooms

The hotel rooms could use a little bit of upkeep (get rid of mold in shower grout, clean ceiling vent, our room curtain was broken)

Emporio Hotel/ loud music after 11 PM nightly across the street
Feb 22 2017
Emporio Hotel has a very friendly staff and very accommodating to the guests. Our biggest complaint was the location of our room which faced the street and the loud music playing across the street starting at 11 PM until 3-4 am, We have stayed at this hotel numerous times and this by far was the worst with all the loud music so late in the night. Ended up using earplugs every night to help mask the noise.

ice avaiability

there are no ice machines available of people in the resort. you have to go to the bars and ask for ice. a centrally located ice machine would be awesome.

It is a place I wouldn't hesitate to Go back to again especially is there was the SAME type of discount pricing for both air and hotel in 2017

A community ice cube dispenser would be nice. Also, a small microwave in rooms.

I think I should have known that there would be no refrigerator in the room. The shower drained up to the drain and there was water in the shower always unless I used the shower mat to push the water to the drain. The standing water then made it smell moldy/mildewy. Not Pleasant!

I've already sent an email to Apple regarding our vacation and dissatisfaction with this hotel and service!

Emporio had air conditioning that barely kept up in the rooms, otherwise very nice.

great vacation, great value

piecing together separate air and hotel, it is slightly cheaper to go independently, but since apple includes very expensive cab transfers, it comes out to be less expensive to but the package. I wish our transfer info could be provided upon arrival rather than interrupt an afternoon or morning to meet with a representative. I know that you need to sell tours, but it is really annoying to wait for a meeting. we have your local phone number and rep schedule.

Run of the House Room not nice!
Mar 02 2013
We had the (I believe) "superior" room through Apple. It was moldy, mildewy, dark, shabby and very depressing. The front desk and Apple rep worked with us to upgrade to a junior suite which was the difference between night and day and well worth the extra money. I think Apple shouldn't offer the run-of-the-house rooms (that's what the front desk said we were originally booked in). The other couple who were on our flight & in our van also changed their room. Based on our experience with the first room, I wouldn't rate this hotel a "golden apple." Other than the room issue, the hotel was excellent.

The thing that the we enjoyed most was the service that we received, as well as the entertainment. This is a very relaxed hotel, and overall very nice. Some of the activities that we enjoyed was vollyball in the pool and the soccer game on the pool. Very cool experience.

A nice place to stay

We stayed at the Emporio resort for one night on our trip to Ixtapa. The location was great, beach beautiful and clean, and near shopping and local market. The rooms were clean, but the bathroom had a sewage smell that was a little difficult to get past. Also, the walls are not well sound proofed as we were able to hear very loud music from the next-door resort through our walls on the 9th floor!! Made it difficult to sleep. I would stay again though, the staff was very friendly and did their best to accommodate.

So good😀

We are just leaving this wonderful hotel. We had a ocean view room number 516. Very clean. There are no balconies. This service from the staff was so friendly and welcoming. remember a few names are Hugo, Oscar and Anna. The food was good. Our favorite was the barbecue on the beach at night where they would cook for you steak,Camarones ,chorizo and ribs. We will definitely come back thank you for the great experience to all at Emporio. And on the last note we were probably the only Americans here .This is a Mexican family resort. We loved it as everyone was so kind and the children very well behaved.

This is one of the friendliest, well-organized and thoughtful hotels I have every stayed in. The entire staff is warm, friendly and professional. I will stay here again, and I recommend this hotel for quality, comfort, security and value.

My husband and I are on sabbatical and traveling around multiple countries, stopping in Ixtapa as we had heard so many great things. We decided to try a few different hotels in Ixtapa since we planned to be here for a bit. Emporio was one and we booked last minute as it looked beautiful from the outside entrance and we were looking to try a wide variety of hotels, if we liked we would stay, if not move on. The hotel itself is ok, relatively nice pool and beach access, rooms were also fine. However poor review is due to the absolutely appalling staff treatment and service for the 24 hrs we were here. From the moment we stepped foot inside, we were constantly approached by staff asking if we were looking for someone or something. At first we thought they were being helpful. However it quickly became apparent we were being treated as if we didn’t belong on property, which was downright insulting as it continued the entire time we were here-staff constantly asking or following us....like criminals! We were both dressed nicely, my husband in a button down collared shirt, khaki shorts and nice sandals, I in a modest sundress and nice sandals. I promise you this didn’t have to do with inappropriate attire or questionable hygiene. As a paying guest I couldn’t have felt more unwelcome and treated more poorly. I hate to even suggest this but my only conclusion based on how we were treated. We are English speaking and not Mexican nationals, which we were in minority here. No other place where this occurred for us was this a problem. Here? I truly wonder if this difference is what caused the poor treatment. I will never come back and will share the same with any friends that look for recommendations of where to stay in Ixtapa. With all the lovely choices we moved onto a much nicer more accommodating and welcoming hotel just up the street. Absolutely discusting and appalling treatment.
