My meeting time with Ruebin was to be at 4:30pm. I showed up at 4:45pm and he was not there. I left a message on his cell phone to leave message at front desk but he did not. I ended up paying $15.00 for a return drive to airport.

Never ever stay at Hotel Cozumel resort
Aug 19 2016
Never ever stay at Hotel Cozumel resort, The food was horrible, the service was terrible and after getting our money stolen out of our safe and having to spend a full day running from one police station to the next to file a report was unbelievable. Raul B The desk manager assured us the maid was fired and that the police would get the money from her because they have ways of getting the truth out of people. He acted as if he was helping us and in fact was in on it we caught him in so many lies and how he treated us was horrible . After we filed a police report and brought the police back to the hotel they did not like that and treated us terrible for the next 24 hours and tell we could pay to move to a new hotel . I was so afraid of something more happening to us .

I will start by saying the majority of the hotel staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful. This staff includes the restaurant, bar and cleaning. I am extremely unhappy that an Apple representative was only at the hotel 1 hour each morning when we were always diving so I had to book our excursions through the hotel and therefore was very misled and taken advantage of money wise. I was tole a price and then had to pay additional costs. When I tried calling Apple to ask questions about the excursions they couldnt answer them and said to talk to the representative at the hotel, which there wasnt anyone. Food at the hotel was just ok we ended up eating in town a few nights due to this.

Vacation March 2016
Jul 06 2016
I booked vacation through Apple to Hotel Cozumel and Resort all inclusive. However, booked back in November and was sent itinerary in December. When we got to airport in Chicago were told we were too late and our flight time to leave had been changed to 2 hours EARLIER?! In over 30 years of flying anywhere had I NEVER once had a flight change that was earlier than scheduled. Needless to say we (myself and my 3 children) missed our departing flight to Cozumel. My original flight was also direct, the next available flight to Cozumel was the next morning and had a layover in Miami. I was NOT happy. When we left the next morning we arrived as scheduled and hotel was aware of our missed flight and 1st night. Spoke with Apple representative who was able to get an additional night at the same hotel, but I had to pay $250 extra for the extra night. American Airlines was decent enough to fly us out and back a day later at no extra cost. The kids loved the pool, the snorkeling area across the street from the hotel was not as beautiful as it appeared in photos. The sandy, 'man made beach?' was not that great either. Food was mediocre. Mexican holiday was going on as well and a lot of families were there with multiple kids, cutting in line and just all over rude. My youngest son would often get overlooked or ignored while waiting in line for a burger or something to eat. French fries were always put out in batches and disappeared within 5 minutes by vulture like families who acted like they had not eaten in a week. Room was nothing special, had to walk all the way around the hotel to get to ours all the way in the back. Had 2 double beds and had 2 pillows for 4 people. Had to ask for extra pillows and towels multiple time. The entertainment staff was great, always including the kids in activities whenever possible. Would I come back here for vacation, probably not.

Unfortunately this hotel was the biggest dump. By far the worst hotel we've ever stayed at. The food was absolutely terrible as well. We dreaded eating every day and ended up losing weight on our trip! The overall trip was very inexpensive which was probably why it was the grossest hotel imaginable. Not only was the food terrible, they NEVER change the menu, and we found hairs almost daily. Will NEVER skimp out on another vacation after this experience nor would we ever go back or recommend this place. In addition on our last day when our luggage was supposed to be in a locked and secured area, it was not. We found out by walking past the "secure" room finding the door wide open with no one in sight! We stood their over 5 minutes and no one came. We had to go to the front desk to complain.

It was great getting away, a much needed vacation for us, but I would not even give the facility a poor rating. Much lower. :(

We stayed at Hotel Cozumel & Resort Feb 24-22. We absolutely loved this resort and Cozumel. The staff went out of their way to make our vacation enjoyable. They were friendly and courteous. The food was good, the drinks were delicious, and the pool and beach areas were fabulous! I would recommend this hotel to anyone!

Great location.was able to walk to town for dinner and lunch. Was glad we were able to do European plan since food looked sub par, although breakfast was adequate. Will definitely be back as long as European plan is offered.

Very disappointed.

Third time here. Always had a good solid experience in the past. This time, it was much different. Dirty, fewer staff, less smiles and terrible food. Went with a group and a new person said it best when we were discussing the quality of the resort. I said it was a solid 7/10 in the past, the new person's response was now it was about a 3/10. I would have to agree. They used to have three or four people out at 6 am cleaning the common pool area, now the tables just stay dirty. Food was terrible and was the subject of much complaining. Very sad to see what has become of this once great place to stay. No longer a good value for the money, more of a waste.

10 days in February 2018 was disappointing. I agree with Christopher 1701 review. The staff, front desk, wait staff, bar tenders, house keeping, dive shop were surly and had a depressed mood. We know what is taking place in dive shop. Not sure what is taking place at Hotel. Upon arriving, after plane, custom delays, the door to our usual room did not close or lock. It was fixed the next day. The toilet seat was not secured, burned out light bulb, missing grout on both sides of bed, terrace door difficult to open (had to muscle it open & closed), towels arrived at 9 pm. Had issues with towels every day. They were off white, stained, torn, and only 1 set put in room. Two of us occupied the room. Rooms were hastily cleaned. Water and ice in hallways were empty. Told to go to Bar at Pool to get. Sullen attitude from bar tender to get ice. Early morning desk staff was unresponsive to greetings. Coffee urn empty by 7 am. Asked Mgr. for more coffee and was directed to go outside to the restaurant serving breakfast. I wanted coffee, not breakfast. We come to COZ 4 X a year, so will try another Hotel until we feel more comfortable and the attitude changes. We will miss people we have become close to. The location is a definite plus.

Not as good as last time

Such a disappointing week in February 2018. We have been there at least five times and thought we knew exactly what to expect, which was a basic 'resort' close to town, excellent and friendly service, good food and fabulous snorkeling on site. That was not our experience this visit. The food was so unappealing due to the rehashing of dishes. For example, refried beans which were good on day one for lunch and supper were less good on day two, mushy looking for the next 2 meals and then appeared as soup the next day. I actually got stomach flu and stayed in bed for a whole day of our trip. I am not sure what happened to the snorkeling. The coral wall seemed very damaged and, in fact, the old snorkeling area has been relocated to the other side of the pier. They have actually built a shallow area with a breakwater you can swim over, which was a good idea. The wait staff were largely sullen and seemingly unhappy, demoralized and disenfranchised. The only staff that seemed happy were the activity staff. ( I did especially enjoy my Spanish lessons, con muchas gracias, Alonso!) This resort used to be our favorite in Cozumel, but no longer.

February, 2018 Stay at Hotel Cozumel and Resort

This was my husband and I's first stay at the Hotel Cozumel and Resort. We stayed here for two weeks, from Feb. 10/18 to Feb. 24/18. The resort was good for an all inclusive vacation, at a decent price, it is a good value. The resort has 1 pool and a hot tub, both were kept clean and the hot tub was drained and cleaned daily. Our maid was Eberlith Perez Condelero and she was wonderful! She kept our room very clean and we sure noticed whenever she had a day off as the maid filling in was not near as good. Thank you Eberlith for such wonderful service. Another staff member who stood out for us was Thomas, the night manager of the restaurant and bars. He was wonderful! Thank you so much for such great service Thomas! The rooms need upgrading, however we had to call the front desk with a few issues our air conditioning started leaking and the balcony door was stuck, they sent someone right away to fix things. The only other issue was we had small ants on and around the sink, we decided to deal with it as the hotel was full. We do feel they need to take care of bugs in the rooms etc. The snorkeling off of the beach access was good, the food was good, drinks were good, being close to town and being able to walk to town was great! We will definitely be back to stay at the Hotel Cozumel and Resort. Thank you. Donna and Bruce Jahnke
