My meeting time with Ruebin was to be at 4:30pm. I showed up at 4:45pm and he was not there. I left a message on his cell phone to leave message at front desk but he did not. I ended up paying $15.00 for a return drive to airport.

We love Hotel Cozumel and it's the only place we stay in Cozumel. The people are great, they remember you and bend over backwards for you.

Never ever stay at Hotel Cozumel resort
Aug 19 2016
Never ever stay at Hotel Cozumel resort, The food was horrible, the service was terrible and after getting our money stolen out of our safe and having to spend a full day running from one police station to the next to file a report was unbelievable. Raul B The desk manager assured us the maid was fired and that the police would get the money from her because they have ways of getting the truth out of people. He acted as if he was helping us and in fact was in on it we caught him in so many lies and how he treated us was horrible . After we filed a police report and brought the police back to the hotel they did not like that and treated us terrible for the next 24 hours and tell we could pay to move to a new hotel . I was so afraid of something more happening to us .

I will start by saying the majority of the hotel staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful. This staff includes the restaurant, bar and cleaning. I am extremely unhappy that an Apple representative was only at the hotel 1 hour each morning when we were always diving so I had to book our excursions through the hotel and therefore was very misled and taken advantage of money wise. I was tole a price and then had to pay additional costs. When I tried calling Apple to ask questions about the excursions they couldnt answer them and said to talk to the representative at the hotel, which there wasnt anyone. Food at the hotel was just ok we ended up eating in town a few nights due to this.

Vacation March 2016
Jul 06 2016
I booked vacation through Apple to Hotel Cozumel and Resort all inclusive. However, booked back in November and was sent itinerary in December. When we got to airport in Chicago were told we were too late and our flight time to leave had been changed to 2 hours EARLIER?! In over 30 years of flying anywhere had I NEVER once had a flight change that was earlier than scheduled. Needless to say we (myself and my 3 children) missed our departing flight to Cozumel. My original flight was also direct, the next available flight to Cozumel was the next morning and had a layover in Miami. I was NOT happy. When we left the next morning we arrived as scheduled and hotel was aware of our missed flight and 1st night. Spoke with Apple representative who was able to get an additional night at the same hotel, but I had to pay $250 extra for the extra night. American Airlines was decent enough to fly us out and back a day later at no extra cost. The kids loved the pool, the snorkeling area across the street from the hotel was not as beautiful as it appeared in photos. The sandy, 'man made beach?' was not that great either. Food was mediocre. Mexican holiday was going on as well and a lot of families were there with multiple kids, cutting in line and just all over rude. My youngest son would often get overlooked or ignored while waiting in line for a burger or something to eat. French fries were always put out in batches and disappeared within 5 minutes by vulture like families who acted like they had not eaten in a week. Room was nothing special, had to walk all the way around the hotel to get to ours all the way in the back. Had 2 double beds and had 2 pillows for 4 people. Had to ask for extra pillows and towels multiple time. The entertainment staff was great, always including the kids in activities whenever possible. Would I come back here for vacation, probably not.

Unfortunately this hotel was the biggest dump. By far the worst hotel we've ever stayed at. The food was absolutely terrible as well. We dreaded eating every day and ended up losing weight on our trip! The overall trip was very inexpensive which was probably why it was the grossest hotel imaginable. Not only was the food terrible, they NEVER change the menu, and we found hairs almost daily. Will NEVER skimp out on another vacation after this experience nor would we ever go back or recommend this place. In addition on our last day when our luggage was supposed to be in a locked and secured area, it was not. We found out by walking past the "secure" room finding the door wide open with no one in sight! We stood their over 5 minutes and no one came. We had to go to the front desk to complain.

It was great getting away, a much needed vacation for us, but I would not even give the facility a poor rating. Much lower. :(

Great location.was able to walk to town for dinner and lunch. Was glad we were able to do European plan since food looked sub par, although breakfast was adequate. Will definitely be back as long as European plan is offered.

Nice hotel/resort if you pick the right rooms and don't use the dive shop
Steve W,

I stayed at the resort 3-8 Jan 2018 with my girlfriend and my brother's family. We thought the hotel itself was very nice. Rooms are cleaned wonderfully, and the pool area is especially well kept. I thought the breakfasts were fantastic. We ate dinner there maybe half the evenings but also went out to try other restaurants in town. I always enjoyed the food. Unfortunately, my brother wanted to "upgrade" and get ocean view rooms. Unfortunate because the main North/South road is between you and the ocean view. Even though its only a 2 lane road, its busy and there's a speed bump right in front of the hotel that causes vehicles to slow almost to a stop in front of the hotel, with the ensuing noise when they accelerate again. This was especially bad with motorcycles and larger trucks. The white noise from the AC unit helped, but I was usually awakened a few times a night by the noise. My only other complaint about the resort was the dive shop seems really disorganized. They are nice, as is absolutely everyone at the resort, but we had difficulty getting tanks for a shore dive that we had arranged the day before. We wanted to do a refresher shore dive before going out on a boat in the afternoon. We waited 90 mins for tanks and kept being told they'd arrive any minute. We were just about to cancel it because we needed time to eat lunch before the boat trip when the tanks finally showed up. We met people on the boat that were also staying at the resort and they had been told to just show up in the morning and they'd get on a boat, but that morning were told there was no room for them. Super annoying if you've traveled to Cozumel to dive and then can't get on a boat. I hope they can work out the dive shop issues because if they fix that, I can always book a poolside room and be super happy with this resort for my next visit. Its about a mile walk into town, but after the eating and drinking, the exercise isn't a bad idea!

Good for relaxing beach life

It was my first all inclusive so I don’t really have anything to compare with but food was good with lots to choose from, drinks tasty and the service was good. There are pools by the hotel and, across the street (accessible also via an underpass), there is a nice beach with easy access to the sea. Good for snorkeling but we never got to try the dive center as a big group of divers had all the available tanks. A bit disappointing as the staff had told us the day before we just had to show up any time to go diving. Rooms were spacious and clean and staff friendly and helpful.

Awesome Christmas Week Vacation

Booked a weeks stay over the Christmas week and was more then pleased with the facilities and services. Did not book the all inclusive but the European plan which included breakfast. Upon check in they offered a two double bed room but because it was my wife ,me and my twenty year old daughter we asked for a king bed with a cot and it was perfect for us. Also added a min frig at dollars a day. This is not a 5 star resort but an older resort that was clean and more then functional in every way. Everybody was very friendly from the front desk, cleaning personnel, and wait staff and all went over and above to make your stay a pleasant one. Largest pool In Cozumel with plenty of places to find your spot in the shade or sun. Nice beach club with an underground tunnel to reach it from the resort. Would stay again!!

Lovely stay

This is a great spot. Staff is excellent, the private beach is adorable with a little ocean pool & obviously the ocean. The bike rentals are free - though one of our pedals fell off - WiFi is awful in the rooms but did you really come to Cozumel to sit on your phone? Beds are kind of hard but water pressure is awesome. Short walk to town.

Like an economy cruise ship that never moves, but food's not so good

Room was quite nice, but sadly it lacked 2 amenities we've grown to expect: A small fridge and a coffee pot! Wi-fi was very poor, with insufficient band width, so it only worked when most guests were either gone or sleeping! However, we had comfy beds, cold AC, a good closet, nice dresser, a room safe, excellent shower with plenty of hot water, & a nice balcony overlooking the pool. Hotel Cozumel has a fabulous pool -- the largest on the island -- and a really great pool area, with gobs of nice lounge chairs, all in good condition, and plenty of shade if you want it. Wi-fi in the pool area works well. They keep the pool and pool area very clean and tidy, and it's really quite lovely. But unfortunately, they DON'T enforce the adults-only rule in the spa; it was often loaded with kids, and at one time we saw no fewer than 5 small boys in the spa, 3 of them with water cannons. Worst of all, we often saw women bringing diapered toddlers and infants into both the pool and the spa. It was so bad we noticed the staff drained the spa almost every morning in an attempt to keep it sanitary. Diapered babies in the pool? Really disgusting, and the staff didn't say a word about it! Other amenities include a small (very small) exercise room and a ping pong table near the pool, plus a little poolside restaurant with tacos and burgers. Waiters circulate to provide drinks, and poolside food and drink prices (for those who are NOT on the all-inclusive deal) are quite reasonable. A tunnel under the road leads to a nice beach area, with lots of palms, hammocks & lounge chairs. But the loungers on the beach were all broken and/or sagging, and instead of peace and quiet we had to listen to loudspeakers piping raucous music & dumb announcements from various birthday parties, dance classes, etc in their beachfront restaurant. It was a similar situation at the pool, where we were forced to listen to loudspeakers blaring a variety of annoying things almost non-stop -- kiddie games, adult games, dance lessons, contests, whatever. Their "activities director" loves the sound of her own voice, and babbles way too much and way too loudly on the P.A. system. Whatever the activity, even if there was only 2 participants, EVERYONE was forced to listen to the blow-by-blow on the loudspeakers. Why? Some people were on the "all-inclusive" deal, but we opted for the much cheaper deal which included only the "free" breakfast. It was a breakfast buffet, and was quite good, with made-to-order omelettes and eggs anyway you like them, as well as yogurt, granola, fruit, cereal, coffee, juice, refried beans, and either pancakes, waffles or French toast. But in the 10 days we were there, they never once offered bacon, and their so-called "sausage" looked and tasted exactly like hot dogs, so overall I'd give their breakfasts a B+. In contrast, their buffet dinners ($11) were a C- at best. Maid service in the rooms was very thorough, and sheets & towels were changed daily, which is somewhat unusual these days. The hotel's location was fair at best: It's located on a rather nice beach, but it's not very convenient, as it's the LAST hotel on the far south end of town, with NO nearby restaurants, stores or shops. It's really too far for walking to town (3 to 4 miles), and taxi drivers all charged approx. $5 each way, even if you only went less than a mile. And unlike the mainland, there are NO "collectivos" (shared vans) on Cozumel.
