Go elsewhere! Terrible service

Very disappointed overall, especially with the standard of food served by the kitchen and the staff in general. Waiters were inattentive and the room service atrocious! We ordered two meals and only one arrived. The staff then brought the other meal 30 minutes later but with no knife or fork, condiments etc. In both cases the chips were already cold by the time they arrived. When I complained the receptionists simply said “sorry these things happen”. However, according to their hospitality promise and I quote “if any part of your stay isn’t satisfactory it is our ‘hospitality promise’ to make it right or you won’t pay for that part of your stay”. Well they certainly didn’t make it right and I still had to pay. False advertising springs to mind... I also tried to contact the hotel twice in advance of our arrival to arrange a birthday cake for my girlfriend. Very disappointed that they didn’t reply to either email considering they have a 24 hour reception and the first email was sent three months before our stay. On the plus side, rooms were nice and spacious and furnished to a high standard. TV had English speaking channels which was ideal over Xmas. Ample space around the pool/beach area for sun bathing and decent gym on site. Taxi rank outside the hotel to ferry you into the old city (only $15,000 one way). Overall highly disappointed and certainly would never stay there again.

Great hotel, but location is pretty far from everything

This hotel staff, facilities, and amenities were all outstanding. I highly recommend this hotel if your plans are to stay at the hotel and enjoy the quite beach and not really explore Cartagena. The view from our room and balcony were super amazing. The challenge that we had with this hotel was transportation. Basically, you’re at the mercy of unprofessional and discourteous taxi drivers if you want to see all the amazing things in the city because this hotel is 20 minutes outside the main town area. I was unable to get Uber to work at the hotel, only a few times when I needed to return to the hotel from the city and airport. The thing about Cartagena unlike Bogota or Medellin is the taxis and drivers don’t use meters. So it’s a constant annoyance because you have to negotiate every far, and every far is based on your negotiations. Also, I found that the taxis charge double what they would a local resident. This hotel did have a taxi service but again it was pretty expensive and without a meter and it was not always available. I think next time we will stay in Boca or the Old City so we don’t have to deal with the entire transportation as it was a drag. My recommendation to the hotel GM is provide a free shuttle bus service to the old city and help your guests better enjoy the city and not have to deal with the hassle of transportation.

Exceed expectations

The service was perfect. Always I found a positive answer to my requirements, at front desk, at restaurant, at swim pool, etc. Room had a great view as they promised during reservation. Also they have excellent recommendations for any plan in thecity

Located at 3 minutes from the airport (it takes around 15 minutes the way back to the airport due to the traffic) the taxi cost around $5 to $7USD, is not in the old city. The property still looks like new, is well maintained, CLEAN and beautifully decorated !!!!, we stayed at the 4th floor the room was big enough my wife, our baby and me. We ask for a crib in advance and the room was arranged according our preferences without a problem. Comfy bed and many types of pillows, tv, mini fridge, desk and a well spaced bathroom. The breakfast buffet during the 3 days of our stay was good enough, fresh made eggs prepared according to your preferences, different fruits, cereal bar, fajita station and different types of bread were all the type, some typical options like arepas, caldos(soup), chorizos, tamales, kibbes were changed during these days to have variety, inside the restaurant the service is OK have in mind if you seat outside the service the slow and look like the waiters don't like to go out. The Blue restaurant have good options, the baby octopus entree and the fried mozzarella were good, the crab soup and the portobellos were cold, the taste was ok but the temperature awful the tomato soup was too sweet (looks like was made with tomato sauce not real tomatoes). ln the main dishes the fried mojarra, the cartagenera black posta, prawn risotto and sea rice were excellent good flavour, portion and presentation (maybe a point to improve is the temperature, even the hot weather the food wasn't hot). For the kids the pasta and the pizza are good choices. For the desserts try the chocolate volcano and the nutella crepes they are served with ice cream and were delicious. The coconut lemonade worth a try, just have in mind the prices are a bit high as always happens at the hotel restaurant. But due to the lack of options around, there is no commerce, no shops, no restaurants (maybe a drug store and a small liquor store couple block down) you can give it a try otherwise you must take a taxi and go to the city of course. As far we can see, there are 2 meeting rooms well equipped (haven't used them), The pool is medium size with a bar, the cocktails are for sure a point to improve, have a small playground for small kids and a place to take the sun in front of the public beach. there is a spa and a small but well equipped gym. We found in this hotel a great value, it exceeded our expectations. We had a little incident with the curtains of our room but Andrea, the manager, solved it quickly and assisted us well during our check out.

Even though it's a Holiday Inn, the standards of this hotel are higher than what you might have in mind for a Holiday Inn. Spacious bedrooms with super comfy beds. Very good breakfast with great variety of fruits, juices and colds. You can order hot stuff on demand. Service is good and has direct entry to the beach. Very close to the airport but far away from the center or modern town.
