Perfect resort in Montego Bay Jamaica
Dec 17 2015
THis resort was absolutely magnificent. It is both elegant and casual. During the day, the resort is casual but at night, you can dress up and go to the restaurants on site. The staff is great. I don't know how they do it, but they remember your name and you feel like you form friendships there. We went to celebrate my son's 18th birthday. The concierge arranged a bottle of champagne at dinner. Of coure there in Jamaica, 18 is the legal drinking age. The bar on the lobby level is very nice and outdoors. The food at the resort is so good. Don't forget to go to Mangoes for the beef patties!!!! This resort is great for adults and for families. Amenities are available for the children with a great water slide and lazy river as well as for adults. This is a wonderful place to stay. My family enjoyed it as much as my son and I did!!!

Hotel was clean. People that worked there were nice. Drinks were very good. The food quality as this resort was poor by my standards.

The overall quality of our resort was fair to good. Our room was very musty, while our children's room was fine. Although our room was clean, we had to ask for extra towels a lot. Although we understand that we could not be guaranteed adjoining rooms with our children, one would think that rooms close together would have been arranged. I had to argue for this. Hotel staff were generally pleasant, but did not go out of their way to be particularly gracious or smiley. Service in the Fresh restaurant was subpar. There were not nearly enough umbrellas at the pool.

excellent family vacation
Apr 13 2014
The Hilton Rose Hall was a great family hotel. We loved the pool and lazy river and slides. The beach was small but nicely kept and they had lots of activities, sea kayaks, hobie cats (they"ll take you out if you don't know how to sail, and windsurfing. My 14 and 11 year old boys loved it. My husband and father played golf and were very happy and we all enjoyed the snorkeling. The drinks were yummy but bit weak, which was fine by me. The food was good but not exceptional. We enjoyed the bbq nights and lunch at the sea side the Jamaican pork was really good and the chicken curry sub was good too. We all loved the omlettes in the morning but the rest of breakfast was only so so. The beds were very comfortable but the room had some dated aspects like popcorn walls and ceilings. However the furniture was tasteful and the bathrooms were updated though small. The staff was 90% very friendly and accommodating. I love that from Indy you could get there on a non stop. The ease of travel made it a perfect choice for us. While not perfect, I would still highly recommend for families. We had a fabulous vacation!

AWESOME! Jamaica 2013 trip
Nov 25 2013
The trip was fantastic. Apple took care of us when we got to Jamaica and got us to the hotel. The Hotel was kept impeccably clean and serviced by a very happy 'no problem' attitude staff. I would (and already have..) recommended this trip to others.

Apple vacations left me at hotel at check out. Waited in long line to check out which caused me to be 4 minutes late for my ride. They left. Forced to take a $60 cab ride. Ants all over hotel room. Disgusting! Food is horrible. Hotel filled with huge organization (smart circle). These people were loud and obnoxious. Lack of assistance from hotel staff. Terrible.

This hotel is older and if you look you can see it's showing it's age. The linens and beds were wonderful, the food was awesome, but the public restrooms were in various stages of disrepair, the A/C works "most" of the time, and the staff was friendly provided the tips kept coming.

Nice Hotel for Families
Nov 14 2013
The hotel was very nice and the Lazy River was fun especiallty for kids and the beach was nice and you could lay under palm trees on your chase lounge and watch the surf hit the beach very relaxing---The water was not clear in front of the hotel a lot of sea weed and rocky bring water shoes if you go and the bottom of the lazy river was rough too ---Overall the hotel is very nice and would recommend it to everyone--The Buffet was just ok but if you made reservations in the dining room for the other restuarants the food was excellent but make your reservations upon your arrival for all the other restuarants--its was a long walk between the plane --customs and our transportation--and quite confusing who was taking us to the hotel--but we arrived fine and leaving our transportation was much better---but still a long walk to our gate---The apple representatives would answer your questions at 9am in the morning but after that time good luck finding anybody even at the hotel lobby --I have to admit I went for a family wedding and we all enjoyed it very much --there was 60 people in our group and all in all we had a wonderful time.

Great for Family, good for couples
Shoey1234, Ontario, Canada

Last week. Went down with a group to celebrate a 50th Wedding Anniversary and my 50th B-Day. This resort is great if you have a family with small kids. The food was excellent, especially Mark's Jerk Hut on the beach. Buffets have great selection of food. Service was very good. We had issues with our room.. not being ready... ocean view was the view of tops of palm trees and air conditioning unit just below. However, after talking to Sophia at the front desk, she was very kind and gave us a nicer room on the other wing with a great view of the ocean. Thanks... Also for my B-day, I received a bottle of red wine and a fruit plate. 2 days later I got a bottle of Champagne. I think one was from the travel agent and the other from the hotel. The beach was very clean as the beach attendants, were out early to rack and clean. Martin, our buddy on the beach, was extremely friendly and was always cleaning and working and making the guest happy. Please make sure that the hotel gives Martin an "At a boy" and say it is from the 3 couples from Canada... Also thanks to Devroy, Rajay and Herman (sorry if I missed others, just forgot the names). they were great in serving our drinks and food right on the beach. Overall, the servicers were happy and willing to help... The rooms were kept clean. The beds, as most of the group said, were very comfortable... Not for me, but don't let that scare you... I am always uncomfortable out of my bed... However, the toilets need some "POWER". not a big deal... again, I mentioned that this resort is great for families, good for couples but after 10:00 pm, there is no night life. they do have a disco, however, when we went there, there was 1 couple sleeping and 2 others playing pool.... Overall, I would still return back here with my wife again. With the service and food, this was one of the better places I went to... One more time, Thanks Sophia, Mark, Devroy, Rajay, Herman and of course my Buddy Martin!!! Yeah' Mon....Respect!!!

Room Condition: poor dirty, re-painted wall splatters, joining door between room hollow, toilet in room was not working properly and would not flush properly, room safe was very old and did not work well, Closet door scraped the floor while opening and could not open. Dinner: hotel listed 7 restaurants to eat. Inquired and according to staff when asking: 2 were completely no longer operational. 1 was across the street which required a shuttle and reservations. The sea side was closed, the coffee shop assume is considered a restaurant it has nothing. The only thing left was the buffet. Buffet indoor area was under renovation also. Ceiling had rack for tiles to be placed but none were present, sitting area cushions on seats were stained. The waiter never brought our ordered drinks. Finished eating and still no drinks. We then left the area to find a bar for some drinks. Bars: Only 1 on the property according to staff, it was outdoor, bartender made it a point to say we only got house liquor, if you did not order quickly he walked away from you without saying anything and never came back unless you flagged him down. This was while sitting at the BAR counter. Coffee Area: That evening we went to coffee bar area, very unhappy employees, so at that time we made the decision to leave next morning. Follow through from the staff is lacking and the property does not have much, be advised that this resort allows 1 day pass so come of the guest might not even be staying at the hotel. This was a vacation of luxury and it appears Hilton Rose Hall needs some corporate support to make this a true luxury resort.

Recently spent five nights at the recently renovated Hilton Rose Hall in Montego Bay. I had been there for vacation with the kids two years in a row a couple years back so was very familiar with the property. Or so I thought. If you haven't been in awhile there is enough that's new to make it very attractive to reacquaint yourself with this magical property. My favorite tower of course, overlooks the golf course. Favorite floor is the sixth, the views are breathtaking and its the most quiet in my opinion. early morning or late evening walks on the golf course and to the aqueduct are a must. There is a gazebo across the golf course and through a field that I've done yoga in quite a bit and its isolated and right on the water and perfect - if you're not afraid to be a bit off property and alone. There is now security at the golf course, beach area if you're like me and like to go strolling at night, they also take your name and room number when you're going walking in the day - odd but not a big deal. The dining room has been enlarged as they enclosed a previously open air dining space. There's still lots of outdoor dining. There's a new restaurant at the end of the beach that offers pizza and seafood dishes. There's also a jerk 'stand'/'shack', I do miss the jerk cart though, it was more appealing to me. There's also two more bars at the far end of the beach. There are new gazebos and a whole new beach area about twice the size of the former beach area. Watersports has been relocated to the far end of that new beach area. There's tons of space and lounges and shade available. Oh there's also a new coffee shop, with a barista and treats and workstations with a functioning really good printer. Three Sisters is still a great night out. The staff were on their game also, I had no real issues. My room attendant was a complete darling. When you check in walk the floor and find your attendant, talk for five minutes and she will pamper you for the rest of your stay, well that was my experience with Sherian anyway. Absolutely loved her. Very responsive and just lovely personality. The food is still some of the best in Montego Bay hotels I think, staff seems happy and are engaging and attentive (I caught a cold and the restaurant trainee made me a Jamaican remedy with white rum, honey and lime - and it worked). The hotel was clean also, public areas, beach (grounds crew were outstanding), room. So happy I can give a strong review - it's always great when stays exceed your expectations.

We spent 5 nights a king oceanfront room. Food was amazing, there were plenty chairs available and multiple options of places to be. The staff was friendly and helpful. Will definitely bring the family back. It is a family resort so expect to see lots of kids.

Website misrepresents the "resort" amenities. The website does not tell you that one of the 5 restaurants is on the other side of the street and you have to be shuttled across the street. Another of the 5 is under renovation. One beachside is rarely open (or at least not when I was there 11/30/17). Two have to have reservations for dinner. Basically you can eat from the buffet. If you inside from the buffet (which is served outside) watch for any falling items from the uncovered ceiling (no tiles). You may order a drink when you sit to enjoy with your meal, but you may never receive it. Note: there is only ONE bar on the property and it is outside. If you are ok with cigarette smoke, mosquitoes and heat, then you will be set. When I asked if there was an inside bar to seat at and relax. The answer was no. The rooms they stated were renovated were in one wing of the hotel which was very dark and gloomy when you got off the elevator. Doors in the room would scrape the floor and would not open completely. You can tell that the walls had been painted over multiple times. Walls/doors are paper thin. You can hear everything in the adjacent rooms. The wing that has not been renovated appear to be decent but all felt like a Motel 6 location. See pictures of the coffee pot you had to plug in the restroom due to the special outlet you had to use. The multiple papers you were provided upon check in make you feel like you are about to study for an exam in order to remember all the limitations. All of these issues were experienced on the first day of check in on 11/30/17. I booked my stay as a Diamond member for 4 days using 232,000 points. Later that evening on 11/30/17 I received notification from my credit card that a $1500 hold was placed on my card. The Hilton Honors desk person stated they placed a hold for the room charges. When I requested a move from the room they assigned me RIGHT by the elevator (even though my profile states Away From the Elevator), they voided my points reservation and placed the hold on my card. I checked out the next day and PAID to stay at another resort down the street (which was an AWESOME) experience which will be reviewed separately. I spoke to a supervisor on 12/1 to have the hold voided. She said she would and would refund the remaining points for the stay (because this was in question if I would receive my points back not to mention that they should have returned ALL points plus service recovery points). I had to make several calls to the hotel to follow up on the hold void which never occurred. I had to email the Director of Rooms to obtain assistance in resolving this. I had to take an hour of my last day in Jamaica to go back to the Hilton to resolve the $1500 hold. As a Diamond member, I received no acknowledgement for this status even after all the mistakes and frustrations. Summary - This is not a "resort" to stay at.
