Great job of Housekeeping Department, Beach Cleaning Team! Disgusting waiter service (except for Aqua and Cilesta Restorants), disgusting and poor food (except restaurants listed above).

We were told (Including on the invoice from Apple) that we were on the modified Eurpean food plan; which was breakfast only. By the way, so did the hotel. After the hotel checked with Apple, they and we were told that is not correct and no breakfast included. This cost us $30 per day. The rooms in the hotel are "Tired" they have not been upgraded in 20 years ads the bathrooms need attention.

The Hilton is an older established hotel on the island...one of the biggest since the 1960s, along with Santa Barbara (both accommodating approximately 400 guests). Therefore, it attracts people to its casino and for events. However, we checked in here, not for meetings or sightseeing but in order to be close to the diving (Caribbean Sea Sports is on site). We arrived as expected, just after 4 pm. The room wasn’t ready for us, but Ms. Miligen at front desk and tall Chris at Bligh’s Bar were exceptionally gracious, which made up for the wait. Miligen kindly arranged a free upgrade to a higher room with ocean view, further from the casino, since I’d requested “quiet.” Surprisingly, Celeste wasn’t serving food at that hour; Bligh’s ran out of burgers; Cielo wasn’t opening until 6:30. We sat and ordered a souvlaki wrap ($16) by the hotel pool with drinks for the kids. The small beach was lovely, albeit a tad choppy. The grounds have a natural look. The hallway to our HHonors room upgrade was stained; our room was fine and well-cleaned, aside from the tired carpet. It didn’t have feathertop; it’s a good thing I don’t mind a firm bed. The parking was free in this remote part of Willemstad, but I could have enjoyed an enclosed lounge for windy days like today. (Everything on Ground is wide open and merely covered—not enclosed.) I would recommend checking in as early as possible, since tourist shuttles arrived shortly after us and added to the lineup for check-in. Plus, part of the parking lot was reserved for “dignitaries;” some sort of pan-Latin America conference was under way. I did not see the Budget on site, but for guests booking in advance, they could save some money by picking up a rental car at the hotel after taxiing from HATO. We just paid the premium/airport taxes to secure a rental car, in order to get around the island conveniently. The lot and grounds are constantly guarded 24-7 by security. We went to the Eastern shores today with Caribbean Sea Sports. No problem to roll out of bed and catch the 8:15 divers’ boat (or 6:30 tour bus), any day!

Do not EVER go to this hotel

The hotel is old and run down. Also this hotel is a franchise not a company hotel. The room phone wasn’t working and the toilet was running. We reported this on the first day but they never fixed the problems. If there was an emergency in our room I had no way to contact the front desk. The shuttle to downtown was a small van and it was booked three days out. We tried to rent a car from Budget who was on site but they had no cars available. The one bright spot was Kareen who called around and finally got us a private party’s car to rent on the third day of our stay. They have four restaurants on site but the only one that is open for dinner every day was Captain Bligh’s bar. The first night we tried to eat at the Celeste for their steak special but it was totally booked. We were able to eat at the bar. Cielo’s and Celeste are not opened every day for dinner and you needed reservations or you were out of luck. The service was very poor mainly at Captain Bligh’s where we had to eat most nights. Most of the time we had to get one of the wait staff’s attention to place our order. The wait for the food was very long and most of the staff didn’t check back. I was in the restaurant business for many years and I feel the main problem is that no one was assigned an area. The Aqua breakfast restaurant’s eggs were overcooked and the eggs (not egg whites) in the omelet were almost white and the bacon was undercooked. The biggest issue for me was on the day we checked out. I accidentally left a silver necklace, a pair of earrings, and two rings in a paper cover used to cover the glasses near where the ice bucket was stored. When I called the hotel to report it, the operator took the information and told me to call back in an hour. When I did I was informed that they didn’t find my jewelry. I informed her that the person who cleaned our room after we checked out had to have found it and I wanted to talk to the manager. She told me she would have them call me but they never did. That’s when I called Guest relations and filed a complaint. Someone from the hotel named Duco finally called me back after guest services contacted him only to tell me that they didn’t have it and even suggested I check my luggage. I also had to spend $31.00 in long distance calls because they do not have a toll free 800 number. I know it was my fault that I left it in the room but I expected to get it back. We did enjoy the weather and I want to commend two employees who went way beyond the expected: Kareen at the front desk and the night manager of the Celeste restaurant.

Don't stay there

I'm 60 and have traveled on many budget levels. This is a dump with high priced management. Good people doing the work except the front desk. I travel minimum 3 times a year, 8 weeks +. I don't understand how Hilton is associated with this disappointment. This place is obviously spiraling downward as it was maybe 30% occupied in March break. Met with managers that would not explain the issues

Do not go here

It takes forever to check in, the rooms smell like mold, bathrooms are not clean and the rugs are not shampooed or vacuumed. The quality of the food in the restaurant is poor. There is nothing homemade. Everything is frozen precooked. The employees from the top to the bottom need to take pride in what they are doing and they don’t really care. On their website they show an executive floor, but there is none. I wish a Hilton executive Would take some action with this hotel. It is not up to Hilton’s standards. They need a leader. Curacao is not a sustainable country. They rely on everything from other countries. However, The Hilton should know better and should do better than this. Do not go!

You can do MUCH better elsewhere.

Other reviewers complained of chipping paint and dirty carpets. They were painting while we were here...and dirty carpet... it’s the Caribbean...we don’t have crazy expectations. The beds were decent. The staff was kind. However, if you decide to stay here DO NOT eat and drink here. I only drink when I am on vacation (so I feel alcohol pretty quickly). The first night I ordered a margarita. It tasted like sour mix that had been left in the fridge too long. No buzz. No flavor. The second night I ordered a Cosmopolitan. It tasted like sour mix that had been left in the fridge too long. It did have a splash of pink... no buzz. No flavor. Ok, I’m and idiot. I ordered a third drink on the third night thinking maybe I was just ordering the wrong type of drink. I tried a blue Curacao cocktail... guess what? No buzz. No flavor. These drinks are 10$!!! The food... I ordered a Quesadilla with chicken. It was so dry I ate it with ketchup. They didn’t have salsa or hot sauce. The second night our burgers were so over cooked that we ended up eating buns with tomato on it instead. We should have complained but we were too hungry and tired. The sun....there should be umbrellas with every set of chairs. People would set up their stuff at chairs with umbrellas and then go on an excursion while we tried to hide from the sun. They’d return to their shady spot and we’d have to go inside. And forget about those cute cabana beds (that are highlighted in every photo)...Hilton charges 30$ for those. To add insult to injury, I am a Hilton member (and have been for years). I have NEVER read that you can’t use a third party to make reservations at a Hilton. Anyway, I made that mistake. I arrived and was told I would NOT be getting my points (a weeks worth), because I made my reservation through a third party. Imagine by dismay at terrible food, terrible drink and then no points. Hilton you may have just lost a loyal customer. Trust me. You can do better elsewhere.
