Overall, the resort was top notch. The staff were all wonderful, the food and beverages were good, the activities and spa, excellent. The only negative was the water quality in the rooms. We attempted to use the in-room spa tub and the water was brown. We also noticed our white wash cloths turn brown if left under the running water.

I’ll point out the positives before divulging into what could’ve made this experience much better, especially compared to other adult only, all-inclusive resorts. The staff was phenomonal, services with a smile, very accommodating. If it wasn’t for the staff, you’d have a very very disappointed customer. The hotel itself was nice, seemed to be fairly clean and easy to navigate. On the other hand, what most would consider important was the food and alcohol, since that is the point of all inculusive. I enjoyed one meal the entire trip which was breakfast buffet. Not impressive at all. The food at the restaurants were underwhelming. Let’s not talk about the alcohol or lack there of. I won’t be convinced otherwise, the alcohol was absolutely watered down and in some intended I know there wasn’t the actual brand in the “premium” liquors. I can’t say I’d go to any Hard Rock Resort after this first time. Step up your game, good luck.

I was very excited about going to this hotel for the first time. Thinking Hard Rock has a pretty good reputation. My main complaint is the dinner restaurants. I was not impressed with the food at the Steakhouse or the Italian. I ordered a filet and it was served cold. Then at Italian I order and NY strip steak and about 80% of it was fat that I had to cut around or spit out. Also the wait times at both ridiculously long. Pool was nice, beach was dirty, rooms were cramped. I’ve stayed at resorts in Rivera Maya for much cheaper and had way better experiences. Will not be returning here.

This resort is beautiful. Despite the fact that we did encounter a tropical storm that took 3 days of our stay from using the pool the hotel did everything to still make it a great stay. We did encounter a leaking ceiling in our room due to the heavy rains and the management staff moved us to another room with all the amenities immediately. All of the staff at this resort were friendly and extremely helpful. The pool on the Hacienda side is huge. We stayed in the skyview suite with the hot tub on the roof and the view was spectacular. You do have to make dinner reservations and the only downside to that was thqt they only let you make 2 nights ahead so we had to keep going back to make reservations and sometimes the process got to be lengthy. Love the fact that there is no room key. You use your wrist band that has a chip in it. There is not any direct access into the beach. There is a reef area that they have made into a small beach and it was very nice but if you are looking to go out into the ocean to swim you can't do that from here. We were more than pleased and would definitely return to this wonderful resort.

Not worth what we spent

Based on the experience we had in previous resorts and how we spent nearly double last year's trip, we expected to have a more "luxury" stay. The hotel overall was nice and the staff friendly, but the biggest thing that was disappointing was the quality of the food. We didn't have a single restaurant we HAD to return to. We classified everything as "good enough to eat".

My high school friends and I planned a 40th birthday getaway for us all over President's Day weekend. The price we paid for 4 nights was hardly acceptable for the quality of the Heaven resort. 1. One of the rooms our group had not only had a broken thermostat, but the shower's water temperature fluctuated terribly. One second scalding the next freezing. 2. The same room above was also MUCH bigger than the other two, although we were supposedly booked in the same type of room. Not to mention this same room above had strawberries and champagne, the others did not. We are all high school friends and not lovers, so this didn't necessarily matter, but why did one room get them and the others no? 3. Room number 3 had ZERO hot water 4. For $1400, I would have expected a MUCH better selection of liquor. I can understand not providing top end cuts of meet for the restaurants and such, but liquor should be a given. Absolut is NOT top shelf Vodka. In addition, the bar areas were just a complete mess. Who knows how much bacteria among other things were all over the bottles. 5. At Zen restaurant, we waited over an hour for a table, (seated at nearly 10PM), and then waited over an hour to even get a chef to cook our hibatchi dinner. 6. Coffee was never refilled in the room. Used glasses were left on the shelves when the room was cleaned. Towels were discolored. Almost yellow instead of bright white. Overall cleanliness was just dirty in my opinion. 7. Servers on the beach for the resort were not very attentive. They would bring a tray of drinks for the large party sitting in front of us and disregarded anything our small group wanted. I will say the Spa there is fantastic. That is the one saving grace the place had. Food was mediocre at best. The Ciao Italian restaurant was the best of the restaurants we ate at. The Heaven Bar was good, but could use updated music(not much current music was played), and the bars were again dirty, and bartenders had no idea how to make basic drinks. No Fireball liquor, no vodka any better than absolut. Very poor experience overall. Would not go back.

Great hotel decor and amazing spa

The decor in hotel was very cool! Service was amazing especially the bar tenders and wait staff. The front desk didnt activate our wrist bands for getting into the rooms so our whole party of 25 had to come back to get them activated:/ Also we were in building 4 and our room was in the middle so no easy way to get in and out - a lot of walking to each end of the bldng. Not sure why there isnt an door/exit in middle of bldng. The spa was amazing!!! Decor and the masseuse were fantastic. Loved club heaven and live bands in lobby but pool entertainment non existent - except for Foam party which was super fun! The food was mediocre - my seabass was undercooked and steaks overcooked. Ive had way better Mexican and pool buffet only served burgers and wings - could have changed it up! Hotel upsells too much too - we had to use resort credits which had fees associated for good wine, sea bass, seafood platter - never had to do this at other all inclusive resorts. Credits were a way for hotel to make more money even after we spent so much. We did appreciate special treatment of bdays in our groups but we had to do a lot of convincing and begging to get it - even tho we were a big group of 25.

Our hotel room did not have a hammock as advertised, was on the first floor and partially faced a wall. Not ideal considering it didn't seem very busy/full at the resort. There was also a bad odor coming from the floor drain in the room and they were doing construction on a scaffold in front of our patio one of the days there. It was also noisy starting around 8am since the hallways are open air.

Good, Not 5*

Family of 5 stayed for 4 days. I read 30 pages of reviews before selecting the Hard Rock. Here is our assessment. Pros: - Very friendly staff and great service throughout - Rooms are small, but relatively clean and comfortable beds - Woodward was awesome, kids loved it - Plenty of seating and towels at the pool which is very nice - Great deals on the excursions - we did the dolphin experience and yalku extreme Cons: - Food is very bland. We didn't find one restaurant we liked. - Limited entertainment - Beach ok, though it's just a lagoon beach, not oceanfront - Waterslides are not close to the pool. We ended up spending 45 minutes there and went back to where the action was at the larger pools. - Zipline closed every day we were there. I have no idea why. - We sat through a sales pitch for a free excursion...misled about the intent, process and timing (2+ hours)....skip it.

Great Last Minute Getaway

We booked last minute and it was our first time to Mexico. Check in and front desk staff was efficient and helpful. Bell boys awesome. The title of the room we booked at The Hacienda was a bit confusing and misleading. It was called Ocean View King bed with Terrace-Adults Only. We thought we would be in a section that was adults only(we did not know about the attached "Heaven" that is 18 yrs and older until after we arrived!), but it meant that it was a King bed for adults only, yet the attached room(with access doors) as well as other rooms on the floor had children(noisy at times). Beach is different as it is not your usual open sand beach, but is protected by a necessary break-wall against big waves. Lots of harmless sea branches floating around, but the clean up crew were always on it. Lots of chairs available. The hotel provides a representative to give you a run down of all the excursions and restaurants etc, but they have an agenda. This representative passes you off to a sales rep. They work for a company called "Legendary" that is a Hard Rock sponsored upgrade membership to get you to commit to a minimum of 15 future visits at any Hard Rock in the Caribbean etc. The rep was friendly, and offers you a breakfast(that is included anyway) and $500 in what are called resort credits. The rep was pleasant, but it was disappointing as we wasted almost 3 hours listening to his sales pitch that morning, only to say no, wanting us to commit $22,000 over a 5 year payment plan? All this on our 2nd day there. The rest of the time we enjoyed ourselves very much. The Spanish Merlot was excellent, and served throughout the resort. Live bands were amazing, sounded great and provided fine entertainment. The Heaven bar was great, 2 pool tables on one side, but on the other was a private(curtained) room that we enjoyed playing 8 ball. All restaurants were great as well as the pool side lunch buffets. On the Hacienda side, we did see one child grab a bun at the buffet, put it up to his nose, then put it back, plus a young kid, with his mother present, peeing in the corner of one of the outdoor showers. Needless to say we kept to the Heaven side. Tappanaki at the Zen restaurant amazing, Toro steak house amazing, French, Italian restaurants amazing. Ipanema Brazilian meat fest dinner, amazing. Music throughout the resort was fantastic. Spa, gym and grooming areas were five star. All in all a great trip, giving thanks we didn't leave with a 5 year mortgage!

Spring break with the family

We just got back from spending a week on the hacienda side at the hard rock riviera maya. This is a very well kept resort. There are endless pools with plenty of room for everyone to enjoy. This place was a fantastic experience for our family , my kids aged 14 and 11. There were plenty of activities throughout the day to keep my kids very happy. The water slides were a great experience, zip lining and other sports right by the pool all very well animated. The service was excellent. We truly appreciated the effort of the staff who seem to work so hard and be so dedicated. Check in was a breeze. Restaurant reservations were pretty smooth. Antonio went out of his way to help my son, who has peanut allergies, at the market restaurant. Carlo who gives a great boot camp class was so enthusiastic and dedicated. Poncho was a fun and motivating animator who gives a great aqua spin class. The beach service was so fast and the drinks were well made. I cannot give enough compliments about the staff throughout the entire resort that make the place so welcoming and never hesitated to meet our requests. The beach , lagoon style, was beautiful. It was well kept as there were 2-3 men working sometimes all day to clean the seaweed. We were able to enjoy the water and swim in the ocean the entire stay as it was so well kept. There are kayaks available to the guests which was enjoyed by all. Restaurants were very good , a great variety and my kids enjoyed the havachi experience at Zen. Frida was excellent in authentic Mexican. Ipanema , delicious Brazilian steakhouse. The market was good for any meal of the day with great variety. Breakfast at the market was our favourite. Toro steakhouse was our least favourite. There’s also a poolside bbq with a slider burger bar all day as well as a pizza oven and ice cream bar available all day. Overall we had a great experience, most importantly my son’ s peanut allergy was taken very seriously and he was able to eat well all week. The only improvement needed was that the beach towels and sheets often had stains on them and so we requested changes which were promptly done. Thank you Hard Rock Riviera maya. You made our spring break a most memorable one.

Not the place if you like the beach

The positives of this resort is that the staff is generally great, it is clean and well maintained and they have decent offsite activities. The negatives are that the food in the main buffet is poor. Several other guests I talked to also agreed the food at that location was not that good. The food in the other restaurants was hit or miss. Toro was good but the Mexican Restaurant was just OK. The other issue is the "beach". in this part of Cancun there is no beach, just rocks and rough seas. They carved out these little areas to make a lagoon with sand. Most people avoided these areas and just used the pools. If you look at an overhead view of the beach area you will see what I mean. Also, since these lagoons are open to the sea, there is always sea weed in these areas. The staff does a good job trying to remove the seaweed but it is still there. This place was pretty good for kids. They have a large indoor skate park and trampoline area. They also have an outdoor covered obstacle course like American Ninja. This should keep kids busy for a while. The water park was fun. The last thing you may want to consider are picking a room close to the water. Our room was closer to the trees and the birds and monkeys will wake you up at approximately 7:00 am with loud screeching. If your a hard sleeper you might not notice but it woke us up every morning. Overall it was just OK, but I would not go back.

I am writing this complaint because this experience with the Hard rock reservation team and the H hotel appears to be either scamming customers because I have never heard of such thing. On Saturday night I booked a last minute reservation via the Hardrock reservation line not from a third party. I am the type of traveler who does not like to use my credit card prefer to pay cash for my stay but I was advise that I need to place a one night deposit. Which I did for 354.88 which total for the 3 nights is 1064.00 I get to the hotel Sunday, I was advise that the deposit is not on the system and they want to charge me more money for the last night, they said reservation department wants to go home. After fighting and arguing. The hotel agrees to my cash plus they charge me 15 more and claims issue should be resolved Monday morning. First thing Monday, I get up and head to front desk, now the deposit amount is different and still same issue, I immediately call corporate offices at the Hardrock but my phone cuts off. I go back to front desk, they said they see something and don’t worry everything is cleared. However, I didn’t get a final bill stating no balance. I come back to the front desk in the evening and same story as Sunday. They don’t know where is the money from reservation. I know I’m a foreign country but money don’t disappear, I now use my own common sense, I call my bank immediately and beg them to release the hold reservation placed and paid the hotel cash and got a receipt. I would never stay at this property or book anything with this chain of hotels again. I came on vacation to relax not to be annoyed . No one helped me and I had to help myself to know that I am not giving my debit card or anything to the hotel to charge me again. Lastly, the hotel is beat up and showing its age, I was advise I will have room ready, requested extra towels and stuff, room smelled like mold, had to have cleaned three times, no one offered to change my room. No towels in the room, the service here sucked Thanks
