Disapointing
ABE Z.
Jul 11 2017
Hotel was disapointing, four night stay and housekeeping did not make up room once...each morning we left room and returned around 3pm and room was not cleaned. They would knock on door around 5-6pm while we were getting ready for the night or napping. The hotel was extremely overpriced...$15 for a kids meal hotdog is ridiculous! Overall the stat was disapointing and service was mediocre for such an expensive stay.

It is hard to answer your questions. We booked the Hamilton Princess because it had just been renovated. Our room was not in that section of the hotel. The carpet was frayed, the sink did not drain and there was no water pressed in the shower. The hotel manager was fabulous and upgraded us to a wonderful room in the renovated part of the hotel. The agency we booked with was no help. During off hours they could not find us with our booking number Myers or our booking name. We will never book another trip with you again and will make sure our family and friends will not either.

The Fairmont Hamilton Princess is a beautiful hotel. The grounds are very well kept and the inside is very nice. We stayed in a Bermudiana room and it was not overly large but very nice. The pools are both very nice as is the view of the water. The one issue we had was that our room was not made up after being gone all day and it took until 10 pm to get it corrected. The staff that serviced us were very apologetic.

Count on a great stay at The Hamilton Princess . Great Rooms and Facilities and the staff is the best . Beautiful Pools and facility....and the Beach facilities at the Southampton Princess are great to have access to. It is still one of the finest hotels in Bermuda and some of the nicest staff.

Disappointing stay, not up to hotel's usual standards

I've stayed at the Hamilton Princess many times over the years and have had some exceptional guest experiences in the past, and have written reviews accordingly. Not this time, unfortunately. I stayed at this hotel twice in the past two months, and while the first stay was generally OK (not as good as the past, but still fine), the second was unsatisfactory. On this second recent stay, I was given a room on the ground floor in the "Bermudiana House" wing, where I've sometimes stayed in the past and generally don't enjoy as much as the main building, but overall it's generally fine. This room was EXTREMELY noisy and therefore not restful, for a number of reasons. First, and most notably, there was something wrong with the bed (or the box spring, most likely), so that when lying on the bed, if one moved even slightly it resulted in an painfully loud and high-pitched SQEEEEEEEEEAK sound. The mattress/box spring REALLY needs to be replaced in this room (Room 062). I complained at the front desk after the first night, and was told that the maintenance staff would check it out and correct it, but nothing was ever done--it was never fixed, there was no offer to give me another room, nada. (I also complained to some colleagues that I was traveling with, and at first they seemed to think that I was just being a whiner, until I took them into the room and showed them, and their general reaction was "Geez, how can ANYBODY sleep on that thing?") At least I was staying there alone in that room, but imagine if they gave that room with the hyper-noisy bed to a honeymooning couple--talk about embarrassing! I had to concentrate on lying absolutely still in order to avoid making a loud noise that would wake me up, and probably wake the guests in adjoining rooms as well. Speaking of which, I could hear everything going on in the adjoining room (connected by a locking door between the rooms, so that two rooms could be joined together as needed, but apparently there's no sound insulation around that door), just as I'm sure the adjoining guest could hear my squeaky bed. The guest in that room apparently had a cold, and I could hear it plainly every time when she was coughing, blowing her nose, and quite honestly, even farting! And of course when she turned on the TV or FaceTimed on her phone with the folks back home, I could hear every word as if she had been doing these things in my own room! My room was also steps away from the pool area, and the closest room to the jacuzzi. This was nice in terms of easy access (through the sliding glass patio door to the outside), but it also meant that it was noisy. When I arrived, some Frat Bro types were sitting in the Jacuzzi playing music off their phones on some Bluetooth speakers they brought with them, at annoying levels plainly audible in my room, but at least that was in the daytime. At night, the pool/jacuzzi area is supposed to close at 8 p.m. according to posted signs, but this was never enforced and on more than one night people were sitting in the jacuzzi at midnight shouting, partying, and drinking. Feeling a bit like the grouchy old man down the block who always tells the kids to get off his lawn, I went outside and politely let them know I could hear every word of what they were saying in my room, after which they piped down a bit, but this isn't something I should have to do myself. Also, while the room was otherwise generally kept very clean (as one comes to expect at this hotel, where the housekeeping is usually impeccable), the floor wasn't always swept. This particular room has no carpeting and the floor is exclusively tile, so it's easy to tell when it hasn't been swept. At this place, and elsewhere in Bermuda, if there are ANY tiny food crumbs left on the tile floor of a ground floor room, the room will be invaded by hundreds of tiny black ants, and this happened here when the floor wasn't swept properly. And what's worse is that, even by Hamilton Princess standards, this room was expensive. This was not a premium room (it was actually probably the smallest, and least nicely-equipped room I've had at this hotel, even putting aside the bed/noise issue), and yet with taxes, I paid a corporate "discount" rate of around $500 per night. (When I tried to book a room without claiming that corporate rate, I was quoted a rate of over $600 per night!) This is by far the most I've ever paid for a hotel in which the room was unsatisfactory. I'll stay again in the future and give it another chance because I've certainly been pleased in the past, but there's really no excuse for the problems in the room (the bed in particular) and I would hope and expect the hotel to be more responsive to such concerns that are raised by guests.

Sheer paradise with the most impeccable service I’ve ever experienced!

This was definitely the best vacation we took in 2018 despite the fact that my husband severely injured his lower back on the first night. The hotel had everything we could have hoped for and more! I am not one for reviewing hotels as often I’m sadly disappointed from a cost to value perspective and have preferred AirBnB’s. However, the Hamilton Princess exceeded our expectations in every way. Alicia at the front desk was super sweet and caring. She booked a doctor’s visit for my husband to get a muscle relaxant and pain relief for his back and also graciously moved us to a harbor view room knowing we wouldn’t be able to travel the island to see all the beaches as planned. Wayne another front desk attendant introduced us to Mrs. Davis a super joyful bus driver that took us on the hotel jitney ride to the beach club to see the beautiful scenery from inside. Danny the bellman brought us a pocket size art booklet that introduced the beautiful art pieces in the hotel after overhearing us ask about the art. Melissa at breakfast brought my husband a pillow for his back after seeing him fidgeting in his chair. All the staff we encountered smiled and called us by name. It was so refreshing to meet people who cared deeply about what they do and seemed to actually enjoy working at the resort. We will definitely be coming back! Loved the hot tub, infinity pool, and all the restaurants and such awesome people we met ❤️

If you are visiting or local, Claire at the Spa is amazing. Massage, facials are the best I’ve ever experienced! Christine welcomes you and from the minute you work in the door she makes you feel relaxed and in a happy place!! Can’t wait to go back :)

We stayed at this hotel from October 5 through October 9. We had an early morning flight and arrived around 1 pm. The rep who was checking us in saw how tired our toddler was and arranged for us to get in our room within the next half hour. That made such a difference and really started our trip off great. Given that our 18 month old had to wake up 3 hours earlier than normal and only slept an hour on the flight, an early check in was very much appreciated! Our room was elegant and clean. The grounds were beautiful and we especially loved the infiniti pool. The rest of our stay was fantastic!

Beautiful hotel and grounds and the staff was awesome.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. It is walking distance to the City of Hamilton. The private beach is easy to get to by bus and is beautiful. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. We loved the restaurants on site.
