I know a lot of people wouldn't want to come to a small country type Hotel like this a lot of them are into the big Mega Resorts but my husband and I love this place it was the first place we ever came to in Puerto Vallarta it's easy to get around the pool is nice everything is centrally located very convenient and we just love it it might not be a Big 5 store for Star but I tell you what we loved it

When we arrived to the Hacienda Resort&Spa they informed us we were being upgraded to their sister hotel The Buenaventura Grand. Not sure exactly to expect they put us in a taxi and brought us there. The Buenaventura had all our info ready to go and brought to an deluxe ocean view room. The resort is a litlle older but they are doing upgrades while we were there. The staff was one of the friendliest we have ever been to, any want or need was met without hesitating. It was also close to town that we could walk and which we did every day. This has now turned out to be one of our favorite resorts mainly to do with the staff. In fact it was hard to leave.

Great place for the price

This hotel is older, it is worn around the edges but that gives it a cozy feel. The staff could not have been better at a 5 gold apple hotel. They were very warm and friendly, and there were no needs left unmet! Everything was clean, the food was presented well and there was plenty of it. Not the very best buffet I've ever had, but not bad either. Drinks were wonderful and there was more than enough. The pool was very nice, and the people that stayed there were a blast as well. If you are going to get in late and want to sleep early that first night, don't take a room over the pool. Keroke, parying and dancing goes on most nights and it was tough to sleep the first night. By the second night we were one of the people parying so it didn't matter! Great vacation!!!

su[er service. great location

If someone is looking for the Hilton, this is not the place. There are not six types of pillows and an array of bathroom amenities. However, the staff is extremely friendy. They smile when they talk to you. They seemed to know me by the second day. Lucia at the reception desk can do everything and smile while doing it. Alfonso in the special a la carte dining room could work on a cruise ship. That meal was an unexpected bonus and again the ambience and presentation was worthy of a cruise ship. Mirna, the travel agent, is knowlegeable, and went out of her way to check on bus ride timess for me. I am limited by back problems so long rides are out. She is the one who reminded me about the a la carte restaurant. The beach club was great and the staff wants to make sure we know about their transportation--even for the two blocks. Great snacks and drinks, great seating. The restaurant had plenty to eat. Even the Mexican guests were enjoying the Mexican cuisine. So we Southern Californians. That says something. There was a great selection. Was it a cruise ship bounty? No. But, we were not paying for that. Again, staff circulated to see what we needed and seemed to remember what we liked by day two. Drinks were plentiful and they were not stingy with the liquor. My only negative comment was the so-called concierge. They were not concierges, that is Mirna, the travel agent. They were hawking property promotions. I got called less than five minutes after I got into my room. She was very hard to say no thank you to without being rude. The other concierge, approached people as they were on line checking in. Again, the guests finally had to speak sharply to get him to back off. I do not mind promotions, but do not call yourself the concierge. I loved the hacienda atmosphere, the more residential setting of the beach, and the palapa dining. I would recommend the hotel to others, but as with everything, I would know the needs and tastes of the people to whom I am making the suggestion. Loved the easy transfers. It is critical to make a great first impression, especially to tired travellers.

Not for me. For older people.that like quite hotel ok. The drinks were watered down. They even tried passing off different lower quality tequila for higher end stuff. I have to say that they got one thing right!!! Their staff is absolutely amazing!!! Love love love the staff.

Charming and friendly!

A lovely March Break stay at the Hacienda Buenaventura. The staff are charming. The food is delicious. The nightly entertainment is delightful. Yes, you have a 3 minute walk to the beach (or you can wait for the shuttle...but come on...it's a 3 minute walk!), but it's safe, easy and a good way to work off the extra tequila. First time in PV? The people inside the airport asking which resort you are going to? Keep walking. They don't work for your resort, but do work for a timeshare and want to offer you cheaper tours if you visit the timeshare. Your rep is waiting for you outside the building near the taxis. Have fun!

The Hacienda is a smaller, quaint resort with an abundance of Mexican charm! We enjoyed our stay. Great location, food, rooms and most of all the staff. The spa located in the resort is above standards as well with great services, especially the massages. A thank you goes out to the staff especially Eugenio,Jonathan and Coco. We will be back again! Lots of potential, clean pool and restaurant, staff try to do their best by being friendly. Food is traditional and consistent. Rooms need maintenance, smokers need to be separate from those who request non smoking. Pool rules need to be followed, we saw as many chair reservation arguments as one could expect when people start saving them at 5am. Parking is first come first serve and not monitored so all local contractors on nearby construction will take priority.

Highly recommend

My husband, son (7) and I stayed at this hotel for one week (March 9 to 16th). The rooms are dated, but clean, the showers are new in the rooms and very nice. The food is very good. Lots of choices and in the evenings, they set up tables by the pool. There was a BBQ and fish night. Also a restaurant (grill) by the pool. They had nightly entertainment from 8 to 10 (singers and one dancing troupe). The pool is big and clean. There is a small shallow area for small children. The pool chairs did always seem to be saved, even by 7 am.Some were "reserved" for hours with no one ever sitting in them. But we always got a seat, even if we weren't there early. I don't think it's up to the staff to police the lounge chairs, as there are quite a few. It's up to the guests to be courteous to other guests and not reserve a spot, if you're not going to use it. Most of the week, the pool was empty. The beach is nice, there were huge waves so we didn't go in very far. Mostly played by the shore. The staff is excellent and friendly and work very hard. There were no planned activities during the day. The hotel is approximately 20 minutes from the airport. And close to downtown and restaurants and Walmart. We did one excursion. We had a dolphin encounter which was great. And there was a water park with water slides, a lazy river, zip lining and an obstacle course. The weather was perfect. We loved the hotel, the area and would definitely return, hopefully for 10 days!!!
