Spa Grande offers a wide array of treatments that reflect a balance between the traditions of the east, west, and ancient Hawaii. There is no Maui resort spa like it. It includes 40 treatment rooms in a 50,000 square-foot spa, the largest spa in Hawaii. It is famous for its exclusive Terme Hydrotherapy Circuit, a unique haven of water therapies featuring a Roman tub, saunas, cascading waterfalls, Swiss jet showers, a Japanese furo, and five specialty baths.

This award-winning resort is also near five championship, 18-hole, golf courses. Staying at the Grand Wailea
KATHERINE G.
Sep 29 2014
The Grand Wailea is a beautiful resort. The staff was friendly. We arrived before 4 so they partially checked us in and gave us a room to change in which was an empty hotel room. This was a great convenience because we were able to take our suitcases there and change for the pool. It would have been nice if it would have been vacuumed first. The floor was covered with debris. We were later called by the front desk that our room was ready and had to wait in another long line to get our key. It was Saturday so there were a lot of arrivals. Some additional check in staff to make the lines go faster would have been nice. The grounds were beautiful including the pool area but it was packed with people. It seemed the pool deck is too small to accommodate the number of guests. There are many cabanas available but they charge as much as a night in the resort so most went unused. The food at the resort was very good but somewhat overpriced. Lunch for one at the bistro was $40. The daily parking charge seemed excessive to the resort fee. Great location in Wailea. Snorkeling right on property was great. Nice walking path along the beach to other resorts and Wailea shops.

food choice was very limited and extremely expensive. Beach umbrella had to booked, had a loooong queue. Xbox games for teenagers were limited and parents hv to be present even for 10 year olds. Club kids had to paid for you have to pay for every single thing after having spent a bunch on the hotel itself

This is a great place for families. On the other hand it was a celebration for our 25th Wedding anniversary. We did not appreciate the amount of children that were there. Beach space was limited so we had to be at the beach at 7am to get a seat on the beach.

Empty cabanas ruin experience - literally nowhere to sit at the pool, every day.

I understand why you add cabanas - more revenue. And I understand they don't sell until the pool chairs fill up for the most part. However, the hotel had probably 15 empty cabanas all day, every day of the 5 days we were there, and 100% full pool chairs - the result is you are paying a $30 resort fee and for a fairly expensive hotel, where there is literally nowhere to sit anywhere around the pool. Yet, at most, every day maybe 10-15% of the cabanas were occupied. Very annoying.

Our family had a wonderful stay at the Grand Wailea! The kids loved the new slide as well as playing at the Rock. We loved the food at Humu especially the Hamachi with shaved celery ice. Part of the pool was closed for emergency repairs but they had a blow up bounce house water slide that made up for it.

I’ve been around the world and stayed in many resorts. I don’t usually stay in the Four Seasons or Ritz Carlton type properties; too uptight for my taste. However, The Grand Wailea is everything I could hope for and more. My wife cried when we left. The property is immaculate. The rooms (Napau Tower) are amazing with ocean views. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Granted, with so many pools, slides, etc. there are a lot of little ones running around. But, there is an adult only pool and area (Hibiscus Pool) that is perfect! The beach is expansive with a scuba school on the property. I could go on and on. Needless to say, we will be back and will not consider staying anywhere else. We have found our little piece of heaven at The Grand Wailea!

Fantastic SERVICE with a smile which EXCEEDED expectations! MOST BEAUTIFUL resort!

Our 2nd visit to the GW. Spent 7 nights in the Napua Tower for my 50th Birthday. From the moment my husband and I stepped onto the property, we were swept up into a parade of luxuries. Andra McGuire guided us to our Suite which was an incredible surprise of beauty, flowers, champagne & chocolates with the most fantastic view of the ocean, chapel and lovely grounds. Pure perfection! Extreme gratitude for the Napua Concierge. Always remarkable when they remembered our names and greeted us with great big smiles, making sure an extra treat was in our room almost daily & taking care of our needs professionally. Special thanks to Patty Ayau, Lei Sato, Ken Hunt, Faye Busto & Celeste Armstrong who manages them. You have a great team! Our room was magnificent, very clean with luxurious bed and nightly turndown service. Housekeeping was excellent! Because of the great service and attention to detail, we made sure to partake in all GW had to offer. Humu was exceptional. We didn't have reservations, but were seated at the bar with magnificent views and had a most lovely meal. Bistro Molokini was a favorite (you must try the ahi poke nachos) and we spent every night at Botero lounge listening to live music. A Spa Grande visit led me to the best deep pressure massage I've ever had with Yuliya (please forgive if I've misspelled). The pools were packed by 10ish. We stayed in the 18 and over area almost every day and always found a lounger. Lovely pool that is showing just a slight bit of wear. There was an instance one day when someone placed a towel at 7am to hold their lounger until they arrived at 11am. Pool attendants had removed said towel (after an hour of un-use) for others to partake. We arrived around 9am and had been using loungers for awhile before the original guests came to claim their space 4 hours later. Unexpectedly, we heard the brunt of their anger. It was a very uncomfortable situation, but the pool attendant explained the "hold" on loungers. Must definitely be a difficult part of her job. We went off property for many wonderful experiences..Lahaina Kimo's (fish tacos), Mama's Fish House, Ferraro's, Lavender Farm, Maui Winery, Paia Town, road to Hana. We also drove south of GW and found a beautiful State Park (go early and you'll be the only ones on the long stretch of beach...beautiful). Go a bit further and you'll be on a road with lava rock surrounding on both sides..very picturesque and unique. We plan to return someday and cannot imagine staying anywhere else! Kudos to a great staff & team. We certainly felt the love & spirit of Maui! Aloha & Mahalo!

PROs *Upgraded to ocean view with Hilton Gold status; check-in was quick and efficient for the members line, got right into our room at 1pm *Spa was amazing - worth the prices! *Adult pool really nice, gorgeous fountains *Grotto pool bar was awesome! (although only open 1 day during our stay due to construction) *Cafe had good bfast specials - egg sandwich and iced coffee for $12 *Great happy hr apps at Bistro Molokini - poke nachos are a MUST! Sooo good. *Great location on Wailea Beach, nice snorkeling when the water wasn’t rough (sea turtles right off the beach!!) CONs *Forced valet at $30/day and the service was awful. Waited 10-15+ mins to get our car every time when it was RIGHT across the lot. Frustrating. Would have preferred to self park - would have been way more efficient for everyone involved. *RUDE service - particularly at towel/pool stands. Treated like criminals when asking for an extra towel every now and then. Meanwhile, this is a high priced luxury resort - ridiculous!! Also hated wearing wrist bands. Other luxury resorts we have stayed at and in the area (Four Seasons, Fairmont, St Regis, etc, don’t put their guests through this nonsense. *CHAIR-MAGEDDON ..... I’m sorry, but guests are paying on avg $1k/night, you should make sure there are enough pool and beach chairs - simple! Very frustrating to have to get up at 7am to claim chairs. Meanwhile, they had tons of empty cabanas taking up space but those had to be rented at absurd costs. *NO recognition of our honeymoon - no complimentary drink or turndown service. Overall we were super unimpressed with this - especially as my husband is a gold member and stays in Hiltons all the time. We also stayed at a few non-Hilton resorts during our trip and were treated fantastic in comparison. Consensus: probably wouldn’t stay again due to several frustrations with the resort/service (as we expected more from a Hilton). Certainly would not pay full price to stay here (we booked with points). But overall we did have a nice time during our 4 days and the beach was beautiful! Maui in general is an amazing place to vacation with so much to see and do!
