The Grand Wailea Resort features the best pools and water activities in Maui. Our Wailea Canyon Activity Pool is for the kid in everyone, with waterslides, rapids, a rope swing, and more. Spa Grande offers a wide array of treatments that reflect a balance between the traditions of the east, west, and ancient Hawaii. There is no Maui resort spa like it. It includes 40 treatment rooms in a 50,000 square-foot spa, the largest spa in Hawaii. It is famous for its exclusive Terme Hydrotherapy Circuit, a unique haven of water therapies featuring a Roman tub, saunas, cascading waterfalls, Swiss jet showers, a Japanese furo, and five specialty baths.

This award-winning resort is also near five championship, 18-hole, golf courses. Wailea Golf Club features three Maui golf courses, the Blue, Gold, and Emerald Courses, meticulously designed by the world's best golf architects. Discover some of Maui's best restaurants without even leaving the resort. From award winning restaurants like the HUMUHUMUNUKUNUKUAPUAA to world-renowned chefs like Alan Wong and his acclaimed AMASIA, the Grand Wailea Resort features a wide range of cuisine and casual dining options set in stunning Maui atmospheres.

And of course, just steps away from the Grand Wailea, is Wailea Beach, rated one of the best beaches on Maui and one of the top beaches in the world. Snorkel with green sea turtles. Staying at the Grand Wailea
KATHERINE G.
Sep 29 2014
The Grand Wailea is a beautiful resort. The staff was friendly. We arrived before 4 so they partially checked us in and gave us a room to change in which was an empty hotel room. This was a great convenience because we were able to take our suitcases there and change for the pool. It would have been nice if it would have been vacuumed first. The floor was covered with debris. We were later called by the front desk that our room was ready and had to wait in another long line to get our key. It was Saturday so there were a lot of arrivals. Some additional check in staff to make the lines go faster would have been nice. The grounds were beautiful including the pool area but it was packed with people. It seemed the pool deck is too small to accommodate the number of guests. There are many cabanas available but they charge as much as a night in the resort so most went unused. The food at the resort was very good but somewhat overpriced. Lunch for one at the bistro was $40. The daily parking charge seemed excessive to the resort fee. Great location in Wailea. Snorkeling right on property was great. Nice walking path along the beach to other resorts and Wailea shops.

food choice was very limited and extremely expensive. Beach umbrella had to booked, had a loooong queue. Xbox games for teenagers were limited and parents hv to be present even for 10 year olds. Club kids had to paid for you have to pay for every single thing after having spent a bunch on the hotel itself

This is a great place for families. On the other hand it was a celebration for our 25th Wedding anniversary. We did not appreciate the amount of children that were there. Beach space was limited so we had to be at the beach at 7am to get a seat on the beach.

Pacific Dream Photography a must!!!

If you’re at Grand Wailea, you absolutely have to try the Pacific Dream Photography. They give you a complimentary 45 minute photo session capturing the absolutely gorgeous grounds of the resort including a magnificent sunset backdrop on the beach. We had Ana as our photographer and she was spectacular, very personable, and her photography skills were excellent. Our photos came out better than we could’ve expected 🤙

IGNORE the negative reviews - READ THIS ONE

I only wanted to write this review because it irritates me when people write negative reviews for the Grand Wailea. Who are these people? Have they ever stayed anywhere else on Maui? Because we have. And this is THE best place. Please note that we recently got back from our third trip in less than three years to the Grand. People don't go back to the same place over and over again unless it is impeccable. Positives? Luxury. Same staff year after year. Food is always delicious and quick (especially room service). Pools (for those that complained about the pools being closed for a few weeks are nuts - they have had this posted on their website and partner websites for MONTHS - I know they posted about this back in March when we booked our September trip - So these people are just complaining because they don't know how to properly plan for a trip). Parking - The people that complain about the parking at the Grand have clearly never stayed at other resorts on the island. It is WELL worth the nightly fee and, again, PLAN ahead. Call for your car before you leave your room and it will be waiting for you when you get to the valet stand. Cost/Price - People that complain about a $16 burger shouldn't be staying at a resort that costs $400 a night. Sorry, but in my opinion those are the people that are writing these negative reviews. Yes, things can get pricey very quick. So, again, take my advice and plan ahead. Go to the awesome store by the Mall and get a picnic lunch and 6-pack of beer if you are afraid of the price adding up. SPA - DON'T SKIP THE SPA. But, you have to plan ahead. This isn't your nail salon around the corner...This is the BEST spa on the island. You can't just walk in. Would you even want to get into a spa/massage that you could just book by walking up? Probably not. So take my very common advice and PLAN your massage. PS I am pregnant and they accommodated me in every which way. Negatives - The people that write the negative reviews. We heard a couple complain at 2 pm that there were no chairs left around the adult pool. Well, yes, it's 2 pm. Wake up earlier. They then found a spot and threw their stuff on the chairs and jumped in the pool. Never to return to their chairs. People that complain about the rooms. I've stayed in 4 other places on Maui. Percentage of time that you spend in your room awake? About 2% and 1% of that you are showering. If you want to come to Maui and spend time in your room... book a VRBO or House. Don't come to the Grand to sit in your room and complain. Actually, don't come to Maui to just sit in your room. Get out. Do things. I really hope you skip over the negative reviews and understand that this is the GRAND of hotels. You can't find a better place on Maui. Trust me... We've tried. Suggestions? Humuhumus - DELICIOUS - Ask the staff about HH specials and (haha) book a reservation in advance to get a great spot during the sunset Live Music in Lobby - Every so often they have a live local artist playing some music - don't skip this. ALWAYS enjoyable. Slides - GO DOWN THEM. I'm a pregnant 30+ year old and have just as much (ok ok fine - MORE) fun than the 8 year olds. Just book it. Trust me.

Comfortable but uneven service

We stayed for 3 nights in a terrace room. The beds were extremely comfortable, the sheets felt like butter and the pillows were super fluffy. The bathroom was very large but the shower and soaking tub were outdated and showing some wear and tear. There was 2 free bottles of water upon check in but there's a sign that said there was further no water bottle service after your free 2 bottles, which is a little surprising given this caliber of a hotel. However, on our 2nd night, housekeeping left a bag of 4 free water bottles which was very nice. Also, the valet would put 2 bottles of water in our car every time we left the hotel. The grounds are beautiful. Service was uneven. We had to call housekeeping twice (for different things) and they took about 1-1.5 hours to arrive. We had to call a couple of times to remind them to come. Also, somebody staying above us was throwing trash onto our terrace (clean one night and trashed the next -- cigarette butt, match, bottle cap, straw, etc.), so we had to call security, which came very quick and accessed it. All they can do is tell the people above not to throw trash. There's also mandatory valet parking ($30 a day) and we thought drove they drove too fast and recklessly out of the lot (I know they have to be fast to get people's cars but they should slow down in pedestrian areas). Our room was in the building about 500 feet away from the parking lot and we could hear the cars screeching in and out of the parking lot inside our room! There was optional turn down service, which we called to do once but they never came. Housekeeping also did not clean our room while we were out during the morning and lunch and we had to call for service during dinner time. There was one night where housekeeping did not replenish our Keurig cups, and they never replenished the sugar/cream container during our stay. We stayed during the "pool refresh" period so the one pool that was open and the beach were totally jammed, but they did make up for it with a couple of inflatable water slides and free beach rentals. We did enjoy the Sunday brunch buffet. I recommend going early and/or making reservations in order to get a table right on the balcony with unobstructed ocean views. That was worth the price alone. Otherwise, the food was very good.

We got here after 3 pm and our room wasn’t ready yet , woman at the front desk offered to find us another room instead with a better view she said , of course she found us a room. We walked in the tiny room with 2 twin beds , I looked at the bellman and told him it was a mistake because we upgraded to ocean view with a king bed on booking. That’s where things got interesting , he called front desk and told us that we got a run of the house because we booked with the rest of the wedding group , I told him it wasn’t true as they had an upgrade option on booking website so we did upgrade as my boyfriend is 6’4 and would never fit in twin size bed !!! He got really snappy with us and demanded to see a reservation , so I showed him our reservation with an upgrade room and oceanfront room ! He didn’t say anything, he didn’t even apologize, all he did was call front desk and told them : yeah they ll need another room, when he looked at us and said : I bet you another room won’t have such a nice view as this one though. Oh please just stop , did you really think my bf was gonna try to squeeze in that tiny bed just because of your “ better view” ?! So magically our original room we were supposed to be placed to in the 1 st place was ready ! As we got to our room all we found were our luggage’s and bellman wasn’t there to show us our new room , he just left so my bf went downstairs to find him and gave him a tip anyways. What an unpleasant start of vacation! Few days before we left a lady at their coffee place forgot my coffee , she said she made a mistake with an order and gave me coffee , but after all she went back on our original room charge bill and charged me another $5 for that cup of coffee without even me signing for it. Not a big deal but I m pretty sure that’s just poor example of how you run your business , if you forgot to charge for coffee just say it and don’t charge for it after we have left already , who does that ? And that receipt doesn’t even have my signature on it so I m pretty sure what she did isn’t even legal . Resort itself was nice and clean , it’s huge place though so if you like to hang out with bunch of people at the beach you ll be fine. We came in with a wedding group and they didn’t let us to put our beach chairs together as not all of the people made it to the beach yet. So we ended up scattered around. They give you 2 beach activities for a day , if you go snorkeling you gotta do something else later because they don’t “ split activities “ apart , what does that even mean ? So maybe you should hand 2 separate tickets for the day instead of one bcs most of the people wanna take a break after snorkeling and not to go back kayaking ! All I have to say hotel location was nice but costumer service gotta improve a big time ! Lady who did my hair and make up for a wedding at the Grand spa was amazing !!!

This is our second trip to Maui. Last time we stayed northwest at a condo. Wailea is the premiium place to stay. It has the beautiful beaches and it has teh sunset views which are incredible! This hotel is impressive and starts from the driveway with the waterfall cascades on the lava wall and all the orchids. Around the grounds there is so much museum quality art amongst the beautiful tropical landscaping. The 9 pools are all special and then you have prime beach real estate a few feet away. We really enjoyed sitting in the casabellas after a swim and having food and drink brought to us while we lounged and relaxed! Food was excellent in every one of their outlets. The posh dinner restaurant Humuhumunukunukuapuaa is a grouping of thatched roof buildings on stilts by the ocean and has an impressive menu. Don't skimp on desserts because they were a treat....especially the mango sorbet with lychees in lilikoi sauce...OMG! The Bistro Molokini which delivers to the beach casabella has THE BEST poke nachos ever! Breakfast at Cafe Kula, which makes gelato too, was the most yummy salmon flatbread that we had several times! wow! Our room was quite large and plenty of space for 3 of us. The bathroom is huge and a wonderful space by itself. We enjoyed eating breakfast on our balcony with a view of the ocean, palm trees and koi ponds below. I'm a lover of Hilton beds and pillows...they are the most comfortable and provide a wonderful night's sleep! Service was superior! Everyone was very friendly and helpful. They all seemed to like their jobs...from the great valets and housekeeping to the front desk and restaurant workers. I'm sure it's a happy place to be as it is Maui! We will return there soon!
