Staying at the Grand Wailea
KATHERINE G.

The Grand Wailea is a beautiful resort. The staff was friendly. We arrived before 4 so they partially checked us in and gave us a room to change in which was an empty hotel room. This was a great convenience because we were able to take our suitcases there and change for the pool. It would have been nice if it would have been vacuumed first. The floor was covered with debris. We were later called by the front desk that our room was ready and had to wait in another long line to get our key. It was Saturday so there were a lot of arrivals. Some additional check in staff to make the lines go faster would have been nice. The grounds were beautiful including the pool area but it was packed with people. It seemed the pool deck is too small to accommodate the number of guests. There are many cabanas available but they charge as much as a night in the resort so most went unused. The food at the resort was very good but somewhat overpriced. Lunch for one at the bistro was $40. The daily parking charge seemed excessive to the resort fee. Great location in Wailea. Snorkeling right on property was great. Nice walking path along the beach to other resorts and Wailea shops.

food choice was very limited and extremely expensive. Beach umbrella had to booked, had a loooong queue. Xbox games for teenagers were limited and parents hv to be present even for 10 year olds. Club kids had to paid for you have to pay for every single thing after having spent a bunch on the hotel itself

This is a great place for families. On the other hand it was a celebration for our 25th Wedding anniversary. We did not appreciate the amount of children that were there. Beach space was limited so we had to be at the beach at 7am to get a seat on the beach.

Absolutely amazing experience. Right from the beginning we received his and hers lei from the valet, Gilbert at the front desk was a true gentleman, professional & helpful. He took the time to explain the resort layout and was just wonderful to say the least. If management reads this give that man a raise. He set the tone for the rest of our stay which was one of the most memorable experiences of our lives. Moving on.... The rooms are great, the grounds are meticulously maintained and beautiful, the pools are, well, I'm 35yrs old and I sure didn't behave like one just ask my wife. So much fun and the Groto Bar that is in a cave underneath a waterfall leaves me at a loss for words. Finally, when it comes to food my wife and I are Vegan and while their website does not show many vegan options we were pleasantly surprised by how many options they actually had. Hibiscus bar by the adult pool area had a few very good options and Humu restaurant (the only one we ate at) had a whole vegan menu for us which was great. Shout out to Christina! She was great at Humu, give her a raise too. They are very accommodating and my only advice to management is to advertise these vegan options better on social media platforms. So all that to say 5 stars easily and would come back in a heartbeat.

Best Hawaiian Resort Experience Ever

I've stayed at several big resorts on three different Hawaiian islands and this was by far my favorite. The room was immaculate. The bed was firm and comfortable. The bathroom was ginormous with a gorgeous soaking tub. (We were in a standard room so I assume a bathroom the size of a bedroom is standard for this resort.) Even though we had a terrace room, we could see the ocean from our private outdoor space. The adult-only pool was very large, which meant I could actually swim laps if I wanted to. The grounds were insanely beautiful. What was even more special about this resort but harder to describe is how, at every other big Hawaiian resort, I felt as if the staff was expecting the worst from me. For instance, lots of energy at other resorts went into policing pool towels. Lots of signage. Lots of threats. Lots of strong language about towel limits. I understand these policies must have come about because tons of towels go missing. But, as a newcomer and as a trustworthy adult, it felt odd to be so closely monitored around something with relatively low stakes, especially given the hundreds of dollars a night I was spending to stay at the property. It was as if hotel management assumed I'd organize a great "pool towel heist" as soon as their backs were turned. But during my 6-nite stay at the Grand Wailea not only did I have no problem getting pool towels at the pool...here was the total shocker...when we called valet for our car (there was no self-park option) the valets gave us beach towels and bottled water to take with us on our daily outings! It sounds like a small thing...a parking valet offering you a few towels to take to the beach...but it felt HUGE because other resorts had practically frisked me for towels every time I walked out the front door. I know this sounds silly...but I felt trusted to be an adult and it allowed me to relax fully into my stay...because I am an adult and I don't want to steal anyone's towels, I just want to dry off. LOL. So...thanks Grand Wailea for trusting me with your towels! I gave them all back before I left and I hope everyone else does too so we can all relax and trust each other a little bit more :)

This is heaven, never left the resort because everything you could want was here. The scenery was unbeatable not to mention the food, accommodations and atmosphere. I don't think you could ever find a better vacation spot.

Hotel amenities almost my expectations. The pool and hot tub area and the beach access were the highlight of the amenities. It is walkable to other resorts and the pedestrian path is along the beach and is a beautiful and nice place to hike in the morning. Nice spot for snorkeling as well.
