Great location, failing badly on the basics....

Trying to be subjective, but 5*? Not a chance. Great location with fabulous views, nice rooms, very friendly staff - however that’s about it. Food is always lukewarm at best, red wine undrinkable. Pools are beautiful, if cold, apart from the relaxation pool which is hot (if you can relax by zoning out the noise of the filter unit in the background). On site entertainment is minimal. Restaurants? Not really, just repurposed same rooms but mostly pre-booked by the ‘members’ so difficult to book anyway. Don’t bother with the Italian - dreadful. Tea is an alien concept to this hotel, particularly at breakfast. The hotel was constantly running out of items.... shower gel, tonic water, tea bags etc. This is more expensive than others in the area, but in this instance, you don’t get what you pay for. Bathrooms, although large, could have been cleaner. Mosquitoes in this area are vicious - be warned. Beach club was unexpectedly good - at least the food is hot if limited choice. All in all, not great. We did not need a chocolate on the pillow at bedtime, but needed some shower gel which despite asking never materialised. TUI rep did all she could to address these issues, but the hotel didn’t seem interested. All in all, the hotel has great potential, but has a long way to go before we would consider it to be 5* luxury.

Fabulous hotel let down by cold food and short staffed.

Travel to the resort 8th December 2018. Room very spacious and comfortable, a couple of times we were missed for both clean towels and room being serviced, after a phone call to reception on these occasions, we had towels changed/room serviced at 6.00pm whilst trying to get ready to go for dinner. I like my coffee in a morning, and to be honest the coffee sachet that is left in the room only makes one decent cup of coffee, trying to get an extra sachet of coffee was really quite difficult until a 5Dollar tip was given to the chambermaid, and then suddenly for the following two mornings extra coffee appeared. The grounds were beautifully kept, and great for walking off lunch/dinner. Now to the food and restaurants,it was evident that during our first week and halfway into our second week that the restaurants were chronically understaffed, this led to tables at both lunch and dinner not being cleared quickly enough for other diners to take a table, and as the resort became busier in the run up to Christmas this was pretty evident as to the queue that formed waiting for a table with sometimes a good 30 minute wait. Also part of the problem was not all the restaurants open and/or being used for a la carte dining.again with a shortage of staff. Whilst the food was plentiful and varied, and generally quite tasty,it would seem that no matter what time we went to the restaurants,be it for lunch or dinner the food in the ban -marie's was never hot, at best warm and on a couple of occasions cooked food was actually cold, my wife likes porridge/oatmeal for breakfast and again on 2 occasions it was actually cold. The lunch time menus in the snack bars was pretty good as it was cooked to order,so always hot. The location of the hotel means that you need to get a taxi should you want to go into town or to the centre where all the trips depart from, and while the taxi cost is reasonable and very easy to get it is an added expense that you need to hear in mind. The location of the hotel is superb and we found it extremely peaceful,if you're a party animal this is probably not the hotel for you. Overall we found the staff extremely pleasant and generally very helpful despite being short staffed, check in was fairly painless though I imagine it could be quite chaotic when busy. Overall the hotel was superb which was unfortunately let down by cold food and being short staffed. This is purely a management issue, and if you want the 4/5star reviews then these issues must be addressed. We cannot comment on the speciality restaurants as we did not try them owing to not being able to get a booking at a time that was suitable for us,when we enquired to make a reservation we were informed that our reservations were made and we had been booked in at either 6.00pm or 9.00pm, which really didn't suit us,and told that there was no other availability.

Just trying to unwind

Jose the animation guy and Marco the bartender 2 of the best dudes I've ever met at any resort. Super accommodating super helpful. Love the Infiniti pool up at the tequila bar. Shuttles are always prompt and on time

So much Potential/ Bring your wet Suit for the pools unless you are a polar bear

This resort has so much potential. We were there for Christmas but there was little to no reflection of the Holiday except that they called the buffet a Gala and you had to reserve special but it was the same food as every other day. Our room was top floor of the tower and no complaints. Ask for what you want and be persistent. Watch for and avoid "private off site tour" offers from staff. This resort if beautiful but the only heated pool is the mineral pool. Which is a non alcohol pool. The hot tubs were simply cold as were the pools. The management said its being fixed but staff said it had been 5 months. Also the pools are about 1/2 a km apart so there is not connection. Its seems as if there is a standard line on they are being fixed when its a cost saving measure. We chose this place for the hot tubs and they were too cold to sit in which was a huge disappointment. From the balcony in the tower I watched daily people walk to the adult pool and stick their foot in and then pull it back out then walk to the hot tub then the other then the other and then look confused. I am saying the pools are cold until about 3pm then they are chilly and stomach-able for the hardy. No Frolicking in the pool and hot tubs lets just say. We met the most amazing people and made our own fun and the place is beautiful so in short Food- ok Rooms- good Pools- Complete disappointment Sky Blue bar- good live music and if you are with a group dancing is great Property- beautiful lots of walking Beach- not worth the ride but food is good and bar is nice Staff- good We will not be returning.... basically due to the pools and food service...and we are very easy going people ...and never complain So much potential to be an amazing place.

No Regrets

The many bad reviews we found for this resort definitely made my husband and I nervous, but we are glad we tried it out. We booked the base Jungle View room, but were placed in the Adult Tower 5 (3rd floor); room was very nice, with an ocean view we didn’t expect. Cleanliness of the room was not as clean as we would have liked. Soundproofing was great; our room was very quiet, we never heard any neighbours talking, and only seldom heard footsteps above. A sign in the bathroom warns that the tap water is not drinkable; we only used it to brush our teeth, but it was pretty gross (very salty), and seemed to leave a white film on everything. Beds are indeed very firm, but we slept fine. Mini fridge is stocked with only a few cans (2 beers, 4 pops, 2 sparkling waters, 1 jug water), and this is your maximum allotment for the day. For a 7 night stay, you can eat only 2 specialty restaurant meals total, which do need to be booked 2 days in advance, and not all of them are open every day...we only tried the Japanese Teppanyaki style (it was okay). Buffet meals are not gourmet, but not as terrible as some of the reviewers write; a lot of vegetarian options, plus awesome freshly made hot sauces. Guacamole was delicious anywhere on the resort. We normally drink Starbucks, and sadly the morning coffee anywhere on the resort was quite bad (instant). Dos Equis was served on tap at the bars and restaurants. No premium liquors were stocked, but the bartenders mixed the drinks well. The Sky Bar was a lot of fun; great bartenders, bands play live music, and you can dance here until 1am-ish. All of the pools were great, but there was only 1 hot tub that worked (at the main family pool area), the other 3 hot tubs (by the adult pool) were not working. The mineral pool was warm. The beach club was nice and had good service. We were able to change our Pesos to smaller bills at the reception in the mornings. A list on the reception wall shows the taxi fares to various destinations. Best part of the resort was the property; it’s truly gorgeous, and so very peaceful; we welcomed the daily exercise of walking the many pathways and trails on the property to get to and from the restaurants and pools. Security was top notch. Most of the staff were friendly, even all of the groundskeepers; just say “Hola” and you’ll always get a warm smile back. Overall we had a good 7 night stay, no regrets.
