Great hotel

We just got back from our 9 day trip. We just loved it. We were a couple but reserved in the family section. A little noisy from time to time with the kids but hey we chose this section so we tolerated the minor noise from time to time. Here are my comments by subject Family club section Great for families. Our room had a king size bed with a bunk bed with slide our bed. Could easily sleep 2 adults and three kid Private section close to lobby, kids buffet and ice cream parlour. Concierge to take a la carte reservations and a private pool area with bar etc... Shuttle to beach Extremely big resort so if you have a room near the lobby you need to take the shuttle to the beach. It ran frequently every 15 minutes. Never wanted long. Anybody who has said otherwise was mistaken Grounds Beautiful!!!!!! clean and well kept Service For the majority everybody was super polite and were always greeted with a hello. Saw a couple people with a serious face but but hey they are human beings. Morgan at the adult beach bar and Marinella at the Riviera lobby bar were just fantastic Food Buffet food there was always something there for anybody. And anything I took tasted good. Now for the people complaining about food being cold we'll if you spend 5 minutes walking around browsing each station it is only normal that your food will no longer be warm once you get to your table. So do so wisely. A la carte Swiss not my favourite. Not my definition of fondu. Would not go back Steakhouse Had the t-bone it was good and the shrimp entree as well Bar Were mostly at the Riviera lobby bar service was great cappuccino were fantastic. Check in A little disappointed that we could not upgrade and I heard the same thing with other guests. Something about there contract with Sunwing. Funny I have been able to do this at other resorts Check out Smooth, no issues If you flight leaves later and you have checked out, there are showers available be side the reception desk and lockers to store any items you may wish to lock up Shuttle service to Playa deep Carmen 4 US dollars leaving 9 am 12 pm and 4 pm At the Sunset lobby Beach I must admit not the nicest beach I've seen. A lot of seaweed but they work really hard cleaning it everyday 4 different sections Chill out $$ Regular section lots of chairs were the activities are Platinum section Adults only section that's where were. Every day Around 30 chairs with sun and shade, quiet never more than 10 people total We loved our stay and aside from some little things I would recommend this hotel to any body For anybody who complained about anything about this hotel I question those comments as I would give this hotel an easy 95%

Do NOT stay here - Positives and Negatives

I have been to many resorts in Mexico and Carribbean and I would never go out of my way to write a negative review. We checked in on Sunday (our friends on Friday) and spending over a week and we would NEVER come back. It was the worst! However, I will highlight the positives as well. Negatives: (1) WiFI does not work! We tried to download work related emails and the WiFI and Ethernet do not work throughout the resort! When we asked the front desk for help (we were willing to pay up to the most expensive room) and they kept saying "we can't do anything" to everything we ask. We ended up spending everyday in a city Internet cafe to download stuff (2) Food: the buffet is horrible. My friend's kid got sick and he was not alone. So we tried to book the ala carte restaurants but the concierge told us that every night is booked until the last 3 days of our trip 9pm seating! When we walked past the restaurants, they were all half empty. We learnt later from another family that the hotel tries to get people to go to the buffet or Chill Out Restaurant (the surcharge restaurant) (3) Unprofessional reception and concierge: when my friend's family checked in, they had paid for Family Club Access but the hotel kept insisting that they did not. So they ended up "scammed" by paying twice. Positives: (1) The service staff are nice, friendly and trying their best so I tipped them. I feel that this is an upper management issue where they "trained" the customer service people to "say no" to everything (2) Teatro shows were good especially Grease and Moana (3) we paid up for swim out pool access and it was worth it (4) the ala carte restaurant service was great (5) weather is great

Our trip was in September 2017 and we want to return as soon as possible. Friendly staff (especially LUPITA from the beach bar) and the best cocktails in Mexico. Every night is organized a different live show. You can have a lot of of fun during the night. During the day you can have fun at the pool or on the beach. The food is really good. The rooms are spacious and clean. The whole resort is very big, you will not get bored here.

A Friendly resort for a little R & R

This is a 4-star resort with friendly staff except for the Front Desk staff. More training required for Reception staff to welcome guests with a smile. In-room amenities are standard - some amenities like body lotion was missing but one call to Guest Services and it was delivered immediately. Although All-inclusive - in-room mini bar includes only soft drinks, water and beer. Standard brands of Liquor and Wine are only offered at the bars or restaurants. CHILL OUT is a pretty good restaurant with seafood and steak at an additional cost. When ordering Chilean wine or Argentinian Malbec, waiter tend to say not available and would try to upsell. Same wines are offered at other restaurants, so when you insist, they will miraculously come up with a bottle in the end, The lounge area beside Chill Out is a nice touch when you are there for R & R and not to party 24 hours with blasting music by the pool. (to each his own, right?) It was an enjoying vacation and I will return to try other Royal Holidays resorts in Cancun, Mayan Riviera or Cozumel.
