Not a Five golden Apple
TINA S.
Oct 26 2017
The food was only a 2.5 star and there were only 2 restaurants besides the buffet. Not one restaurant had real butter or any bacon for breakfast. The last day the staff basically ignored us. Our phone was shut off and we could not get any water or beverages. We went to the desk to get some water sent up and they ignored us again. All the other days they came immediately? Not sure why? Our toilet broke twice, the light switch broke and the elevators were not working. Someone slipped and fell on the wet floor while we were there and taken by ambulance to the hospital. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and I would change the ratings to a 3 apple too!

Mexican Atmosphere

There is good and bad in every hotel. When I travel I truly love to experience the culture of the state/country I'm in. The Grand Park Royal Caribe didn't feel like a chain it still could grasp a Mexican atmosphere throughout the entire hotel grounds. Staff was pleased to. Food and beverage could use improvements. Overall a fairly good experience. We

Outstanding Beautiful Resort in a Great Location
JOHN D.

Reason for the Selection: We chose this resort based on other reviews. We like to read many reviews including the negative ones in order to get a complete understanding of the venue. Carlos (Management) responds to almost all of the reviews and this told me he cares about the opinions of his guests. This was a factor in our choosing this resort. Initial Impression: The resort has a good curb appeal. The lobby is large with good air conditioning. There is a nice circular bar and a small snack/ice cream restaurant near the check-in area. Appeared very clean. The staff was very helpful. Concierge gave us a brief overview of the resort but this led to a time share sales sign-up. Rooms: We stayed in a Villa Deluxe (rm 6124) and had a spectacular ocean view outside our bedroom. The room was about 400 square feet and the separate bathroom was quite large. The balcony was about 70 square feet (very nice size.) The room was very clean and the staff (Indira, Roberto, and others) did a great job keeping our refrigerator stocked, room clean, and attended well to our requests. Our double beds had only average mattresses. Air conditioner ran constantly but room was never below 80 degrees (good not great.) Food: There are three main restaurants which require dinner reservations. The Asian and Italian restaurants had great ambiance. The food selection and quality was very good. We did not consider the Mexican restaurant to be as good because their menu was very limited and was seafood based. The buffet was very nice with a large selection of foods. The chefs cook omelettes, pasta, fish, and other choices depending on the meal. There are many local dishes, salads, vegetables, deserts, etc. The food quality is good. I do not understand why anyone would not like the experience. However, every review has personal experiences to be considered. Finally, the street tacos at the snack bar next to the buffet are fantastic!!! I highly recommend that you stop by and experience this. They are cooked on the spot. Entertainment/Amenities: The beach is beautiful!!! We had our own cabanas and lounge chairs. There are two main pool areas on the property. The water is quite warm and there are pool bars in both areas. The evening shows are pretty good. The Michael Jackson show was very entertaining and the performers were very talented. The comedy show was also fun. The resort has a private lounge if you stay in the Royal Tower or the Villa's. This was a nice place to relax and get appetizers and drinks before dinner. The spa is nice but not extravagant. Three members of our group had facials or massages which were about $100/hr. Very expensive but a nice indulgence. The gym costs eight dollars per day. The good part is that it is not crowded and you can get a good workout with weights, treadmills, and elliptical machines. There are activities planned throughout the day but this is not over done (which I thought was good.) The roof top bar (above the Italian restaurant) is a very peaceful spot to view the lagoon in the evening. Staff: Very hard working people in general. Bell boys did a great job. I saw people cleaning constantly. Waiters, cafeteria workers, bartenders, room service, and room cleaning were all outstanding. Even the Expedia representative (Cristobol) was great. Even though we paid our gratuities as part of our package, we did not hesitate to tip the staff an additional amount because they did a great job! Based on reading previous reviews I am under the impression that Carlos D. (Manager) has given his staff the feedback they need to perform better. Bottom Line: If you want a relaxing yet fun experience that is more adult oriented, this place is for you. The evening dress codes at the main restaurants serve a purpose and keep a classy yet fun atmosphere. The property is beautiful and clean. The food is good for an all inclusive (considering the price) and the resort has an authentic Mexican feel to it. If you keep your expectations realistic, you will find a great value at this property. Management cares and it shows! Show less Room Tip: Get a Villa, they are worth the extra money. Try for an ocean view.

Total of 7 in our party 4 sisters, 2 nieces and 1 Cabana Boy(Husband of 1 sister)It was fantastic, weather great, food and bar was good not great but okay, beach nice had lot of sea weed so stayed in pool most of the time. Main pool very warm water and lot of kids, the fresh water pool was cooler and less crowded, entertainment staff in evenings was fantastic, day we was at other pool so did not participate in day activities. Mexican Restaurant was very good (except men had to wear Long pants), Oreintal was good, could not get in the Italian restaurant. I think the only complaint would be not able to get in to restaurants, and quality of the bar drinks..

An all around good time, with a few caveats

The resort is very pretty and very comfortable, and the staff are generally very friendly--especially the bartenders. My main complaint involves the artificial bars to entry for the (all-inclusive) resort's various eating experiences. There is a taco stand and a buffet, and there are two or three nicer, order-by-menu places. The menu restaurants require reservations made before 2pm, as well as long pants for men. Everywhere but the taco stand (yes, including the buffet) requires a shirt with sleeves. My first issue with these constraints is that we weren't made aware of them at the front desk, but instead we found out when we were turned away at the door. It's easy enough (though annoying) to go home and change clothes, but you can't go back in time and make a reservation, so at that point we'd simply missed out on nicer dining for one out of our three nights at the resort. Which brings me to my second problem, which is specifically regarding the reservation--the restaurants never reached more than 1/4 capacity while we were seated, so the justification for a strict reservation requirement is highly questionable. The only saving grace for "service in the restaurant(s)" was the gentleman named Rojelio who served us in the resort's Italian restaurant. He was awesome.

food was just ok , no coffee or breakfast before 7am no lunch before 1230 other than burger bar, service was good and we upgraded the room for 60 per night , well worth it. They try to book you for a 90 min bfast to sell timeshare, ( very cheesey) beach and water very nice and can walk to the mall in each direction

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Our biggest complaint was that there was no steak restaurant or beach-side restaurant. Meals were all inside and semi-formal. We missed the freedom of having a beach-side buffet. The room was large and clean. We especially loved that all the rooms had ocean-view balconies. The shows were mediocre and not very professional. During our stay, we couldn't go into the water because of the undertow, but the beach was nice. Fantastic pools. We enjoyed our stay, but probably wouldn't go back.

I would rate this hotel a 8 of 10. FREE WiFi throughout the hotel and in room. My boyfriend and i stayed at Grand Park Royal Cancún in celebration of our anniversary. We had a short stay a total of 4 days and 3 nights, Jan 14-17, 2018. Upon check in i told Carlos (front desk clerk) we were celebrating our anniversary and he gave us an upgraded Ocean view room and the next day sent us a complimentary bottle of champagne & cake. The buffet food was just okay. But the Snack bars and Al Carte restaurants were much better. The Oriental restaurant requires reservations and is reminiscent of TAO, we loved it . Drinks were great and bartenders had great mixes. Please make sure to carry a lot of singles ($1 USD) to tip staff. All the staff was kind and helpful. We also had the option of room service once per day and complete access to mini bar also included in All Inclusive rate. Avoid the “special breakfast & 90 min” presentation for discounted excursions. The 90 min presentation ended up being 4 hours long out of our day with a total 6 representatives looking to pitch a sale (time share) for their Holiday Vacation club. Taxi cabs are $25 usd or 400 pesos to Airport.

NO complaints!!

A friend and I arrived on Monday, January 8, 2017. Check in was easy, staff was friendly. We found the resort extremely easy to navigate, which was nice after a very early flight. Our room was ready around 4:00 and was as you would expect. The hotel was clean, small, and has a great location. It is about 15-20 min from the airport. The flea market was a 10-15 minute walk and very safe. The lunch buffet, grill area and pizza station are really good throughout the day. The nighttime selections left a little to be desired, but no worries. Directly across from the resort are several restaurants. Seafood and Italian are two that stick in my mind. The one we went to had crocodiles that you could feed before, during and after dinner which was really neat! It was also very moderately priced ($9 for shrimp alfredo) The beach was very nice (no seaweed, rocks, etc) and the pools are nice as well. Chairs were generally always available and if they weren’t, staff got more out! I have been to 8 different resorts from Cancun, to PV, to Costa Rica and this was by far my favorite yet!! I highly recommend staying here and I will be returning!!

Been to Cancun at least 20 times, this was a short trip with the family (5 days with wife and 16 year old daughter). First time at this hotel, Loved IT! Had a beach front villa for the first night, then upgraded to the tower. Well worth the cash, nothing wrong with the first room but the tower room was supreme! The view was amazing from the giant deck, which wrapped around the side and had own little pool. Overlooked the pool and the ocean. All the service was great, had a butler who would arrange anything needed at the hotel. Our waitress (Alicia) at the pool was awesome, never an empty glass. Many restaurants, bars and snack bars around the pool, had pizza and burgers (both very good). Oriental restaurant was also very good, would recommend. Only issue was at the breakfast buffet, they could have more then 1 guy making eggs and I could not get in the first day because I had a sleeveless shirt on (they did tell me this at check in, I just forgot -so really my fault). Had a few issues with the key cards not working, not sure what the deal was there. None of this ruined my vacation, very chill place! I would definitely stay again!

Amazing - My favourite trip to Cancun

This hotel is just great. From the moment we arrived, we were looked after. We have visited Cancun three times now and this was by far the best hotel or our needs. Most hotels go quiet after 9pm, but that never happened here. We stayed in the Grand Royal Towers and the room was superb. It was a great size, nice balcony with an ocean view and a jacuzzi. The staff cannot do more for you and wil go out of their way to make your stay they best possible. Special mention to Felipe the front desk manager. He really was great and helped us so much. Jandi Galeana the concierge was always available to help with emails etc I needed to send home. Lorenzo on the pool bar. There wasn’t a cocktail he didn’t know. Alicia our waitress was always there when our drink was nearly finished. Macdiel for looking after us every breakfast. Jorge for helping with our luggage and helping find the lost blackberry charger. Victor and Vicente in the night bar for putting up with us at night when we were drunk. They rustle up a mean espresso martini. Overall a superb hotel. Everything is really well laid out and easy to find. We can’t wait to return and are already looking at dates in September to return.

5 glorious days of aqua blue, Caribbean front pampered relaxation

Our 5th visit to our favorite hotel, where every room faces the Caribbean. #1 service with a smile begins outside the front door, everyone is so welcoming. Darwin, Luis Phillip, and Rodolfo were SO friendly and helpful, SUCH a wonderful reception. Darwin recommended the new Japanese teppanyaki style restaurant and we went there twice. it was excellent!! the chef (i'll get his name next time) was so funny and talented!! Be ready for a great show! we also attended the new surf & turf boutique restaurant. its very romantic and the food was mouth watering. Roger and Daniel took care of our every need. We'll definitely go back. Our room was breathtaking. the extra comfortable everything. Our area butler was Samuel, he was outstanding! I only made it to the adult pool once but Roberto makes a great drink! FYI the hamburger stand guy makes the best tasting beef this side of the equator. i'm not sure if its the beef or what? its SO good. i'll go back to the hotel for the burger stand and fresh ice cream inside. I think I gained a pound or two haha. I noticed some new landscaping that looks great and implements more smooth outdoor walking surfaces (nice!) One tip to future travelers: pack your bathing suit, cover, hat, lotion in your luggage side pocket or make it easy to grab once you arrive. We always arrive before 3pm, so we check in, get our bracelet which allows us to eat, drink and relax in the sun a few hours before we get the room. LOVE IT! it really takes the stress away if you can change into your bathing suit! Loved the visit! see you in a few months!
