This hotel is clean and nice, but their management is way too pushy trying to get you to join their member program. They failed to bring us our honeymoon package and when they finally did, the chocolate cake read "happy birthday". The infinity pool and swim up bar were under construction the entire time, as well as other guest rooms so there was loud noise in our room all week. The wait staff and bar staff are excellent. It is the management that needs work. We may return to Cancun but we will never stay at this resort again, and we will be telling our friends and family that as well.

This was our 7th trip to Mexico. We always have fun and are not overly critical. But this was a bad experience. The ac did not keep the rooms cool, there was major construction, ants in the sink, and the food was ok at best. On two separate nights we got rain and the rooms flodded. Not just a puddle, but standing water from the sliding doors all the way to the bathrooms. We also got pulled into a 'short presentation' regarding the hotel's holiday club. We waisted 1/2 day and had to escape an obnoxious sales team. We have been to Mexico several times. May not return after this experience. We are disappointed with the hotel and with Apple. We tried to return home early and got little help from Apple. Our only consolation was two bottles of bad champagne. Please consider another hotel. We will not stay at this one again. We truly feel like we wasted our money and one week of vacation time.

Grand Park Royal

Hotel Concierge was relentless about timeshare and even followed us down the hallway trying to get us to come to a "special breakfast" which we repeatedly declined. As a result we avoided the concierge at all costs. Lounge bar is outdated and bar ceiling leaked during a rain storm. Entertainment at pool was ongoing each and every day, all day and into the evenings making it difficult to relax by the pool. Other than that overall hotel and service was very nice.

Good Quality Mid-Sized Resort

Hotel was very clean and the staff very friendly. Food was just fair. Being on the Gulf you would expect a variety of sea food which was not the case. Lowest priced rooms were a good size but the bathrooms were very small. Comfortable bed and pillows. Nice view of the pools (2) and the beach/gulf. Walls were paper thin and you could hear the rooms next to you. Other quests said that you should take an upgraded room. Adult & Family pool. Pool lounge chairs were very uncomfortable. Overall a good hotel for the budgetminded vacationer.

Food and rooms were great but resort lacks nightly shows. Not enough indoor bars to lounge. There shouldn't be a charge to use the gym.

Not a Five golden Apple

The food was only a 2.5 star and there were only 2 restaurants besides the buffet. Not one restaurant had real butter or any bacon for breakfast. The last day the staff basically ignored us. Our phone was shut off and we could not get any water or beverages. We went to the desk to get some water sent up and they ignored us again. All the other days they came immediately? Not sure why? Our toilet broke twice, the light switch broke and the elevators were not working. Someone slipped and fell on the wet floor while we were there and taken by ambulance to the hospital. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and I would change the ratings to a 3 apple too!

Mexican Atmosphere

There is good and bad in every hotel. When I travel I truly love to experience the culture of the state/country I'm in. The Grand Park Royal Caribe didn't feel like a chain it still could grasp a Mexican atmosphere throughout the entire hotel grounds. Staff was pleased to. Food and beverage could use improvements. Overall a fairly good experience. We

Outstanding Beautiful Resort in a Great Location
JOHN D.

Reason for the Selection: We chose this resort based on other reviews. We like to read many reviews including the negative ones in order to get a complete understanding of the venue. Carlos (Management) responds to almost all of the reviews and this told me he cares about the opinions of his guests. This was a factor in our choosing this resort. Initial Impression: The resort has a good curb appeal. The lobby is large with good air conditioning. There is a nice circular bar and a small snack/ice cream restaurant near the check-in area. Appeared very clean. The staff was very helpful. Concierge gave us a brief overview of the resort but this led to a time share sales sign-up. Rooms: We stayed in a Villa Deluxe (rm 6124) and had a spectacular ocean view outside our bedroom. The room was about 400 square feet and the separate bathroom was quite large. The balcony was about 70 square feet (very nice size.) The room was very clean and the staff (Indira, Roberto, and others) did a great job keeping our refrigerator stocked, room clean, and attended well to our requests. Our double beds had only average mattresses. Air conditioner ran constantly but room was never below 80 degrees (good not great.) Food: There are three main restaurants which require dinner reservations. The Asian and Italian restaurants had great ambiance. The food selection and quality was very good. We did not consider the Mexican restaurant to be as good because their menu was very limited and was seafood based. The buffet was very nice with a large selection of foods. The chefs cook omelettes, pasta, fish, and other choices depending on the meal. There are many local dishes, salads, vegetables, deserts, etc. The food quality is good. I do not understand why anyone would not like the experience. However, every review has personal experiences to be considered. Finally, the street tacos at the snack bar next to the buffet are fantastic!!! I highly recommend that you stop by and experience this. They are cooked on the spot. Entertainment/Amenities: The beach is beautiful!!! We had our own cabanas and lounge chairs. There are two main pool areas on the property. The water is quite warm and there are pool bars in both areas. The evening shows are pretty good. The Michael Jackson show was very entertaining and the performers were very talented. The comedy show was also fun. The resort has a private lounge if you stay in the Royal Tower or the Villa's. This was a nice place to relax and get appetizers and drinks before dinner. The spa is nice but not extravagant. Three members of our group had facials or massages which were about $100/hr. Very expensive but a nice indulgence. The gym costs eight dollars per day. The good part is that it is not crowded and you can get a good workout with weights, treadmills, and elliptical machines. There are activities planned throughout the day but this is not over done (which I thought was good.) The roof top bar (above the Italian restaurant) is a very peaceful spot to view the lagoon in the evening. Staff: Very hard working people in general. Bell boys did a great job. I saw people cleaning constantly. Waiters, cafeteria workers, bartenders, room service, and room cleaning were all outstanding. Even the Expedia representative (Cristobol) was great. Even though we paid our gratuities as part of our package, we did not hesitate to tip the staff an additional amount because they did a great job! Based on reading previous reviews I am under the impression that Carlos D. (Manager) has given his staff the feedback they need to perform better. Bottom Line: If you want a relaxing yet fun experience that is more adult oriented, this place is for you. The evening dress codes at the main restaurants serve a purpose and keep a classy yet fun atmosphere. The property is beautiful and clean. The food is good for an all inclusive (considering the price) and the resort has an authentic Mexican feel to it. If you keep your expectations realistic, you will find a great value at this property. Management cares and it shows! Show less Room Tip: Get a Villa, they are worth the extra money. Try for an ocean view.

Total of 7 in our party 4 sisters, 2 nieces and 1 Cabana Boy(Husband of 1 sister)It was fantastic, weather great, food and bar was good not great but okay, beach nice had lot of sea weed so stayed in pool most of the time. Main pool very warm water and lot of kids, the fresh water pool was cooler and less crowded, entertainment staff in evenings was fantastic, day we was at other pool so did not participate in day activities. Mexican Restaurant was very good (except men had to wear Long pants), Oreintal was good, could not get in the Italian restaurant. I think the only complaint would be not able to get in to restaurants, and quality of the bar drinks..

An all around good time, with a few caveats
TYRONE H.
Jul 11 2017
The resort is very pretty and very comfortable, and the staff are generally very friendly--especially the bartenders. My main complaint involves the artificial bars to entry for the (all-inclusive) resort's various eating experiences. There is a taco stand and a buffet, and there are two or three nicer, order-by-menu places. The menu restaurants require reservations made before 2pm, as well as long pants for men. Everywhere but the taco stand (yes, including the buffet) requires a shirt with sleeves. My first issue with these constraints is that we weren't made aware of them at the front desk, but instead we found out when we were turned away at the door. It's easy enough (though annoying) to go home and change clothes, but you can't go back in time and make a reservation, so at that point we'd simply missed out on nicer dining for one out of our three nights at the resort. Which brings me to my second problem, which is specifically regarding the reservation--the restaurants never reached more than 1/4 capacity while we were seated, so the justification for a strict reservation requirement is highly questionable. The only saving grace for "service in the restaurant(s)" was the gentleman named Rojelio who served us in the resort's Italian restaurant. He was awesome.

we were at the hotel from June 19-26, 2018 . I like to say I didn't know what to expect since we just go to the Riu Hotel... But I was very surprised in a good way !!! the hotel is not very big , very clean, the stuff was very friendly and helping in every way ,and when you say thank you the answer is "pleasure" with a smile. I like to give special thanks to Carolina Cazarin from the concierge team that never send us to someone else she took care of anything needed ,and again with "pleasure". The hotel have 3 special restaurants Chinese, Italian , and Mexican we eat at the Chinese and the Italian only I like to say the food and the service was great like to say thank you to Yamily from the Chinese restaurant for her efforts the waiter from the Italian was very nice as well but sorry don't remember his name. overall very nice just at the Buffet some times they put to much butter/margarine to the food (to our taste). Just remember there is a steak restaurant (with pay). General information : bus ride is 12 pesos or 1 us $ the pesos exchange is average 18 to 20 pesos to 1 us dollar . A ferry ride round trip is 19$ us . Thank you , Judy M California

Wouldn’t let us swim in the ocean except for a small area when you went just a little outside the flags the lifeguard we’re getting mad . We’re afraid they would have to do there job even if you can swim . The pool closed at 8 pm when must hotels close at 10 pm not much to do for kids they need to decide if there going to more kid friendly or more adult friendly cause there not doing a very good job at both.food got old fast . Not very many restaurants to choose from , breakfast was good ,and the grounds and rooms are very very clean .

We’ve been coming to Cancun every year for 7 years now and have stayed at the Cancun Park Royal (which we love), but thought we’d upgrade to the Grand for something new. Both resorts are lovely in every way! The Grand is larger and has more food options, but I am truly torn which is my favorite as they both offer so much.

The staff members were awesome. The Italian restaurant was our favorite. Make sure to reserve the specialty restaurants. The pizza was great. The novelty store at the resort has reasonable prices. There is also a flea market walking distance, but you can also take a cab. The bus stop is in front of the resort. It costs about one US dollar. It is in the opposite direction of the airport. Towards the right of the resort. The airport is about 30 minutes from the resort.

If you are looking for a good breakfast or lunch while visiting the resort, go to the La Concha. The food is great, some of the best lobster bisque we've ever had. Not to mention the waiters. Verulo and Osvel were the nicest, most attentive wait staff we've had. They're recommendations and company were great. These men should be very proud of the way they treat their customers, they truly care and it's obvious that they enjoy themselves and their work.
