This is a pricey all inclusive resort with two main locations on the same property. There is an expansive beach, but it is littered with coral and rocks along many stretches. Overall a really cool experience for my first all-inclusive. Pros: the food variety is fabulous and the quality of the evening meals was comparable to restaurants in a major Cdn city. Yum. Good selection of food for lunch as well. The pools are huge, with swim up bars, and never seemed crowded. The family suites are very attractive and large. Good transportation within resort to get to amenities such as sports, spa and shows. Friendly and helpful staff. On site dive shop (Aqua Excursions). Decent shows. Cons: longish walk to breakfast buffet for some guests as there are only two (albeit very large) areas. The White Sand area must have undergone a rushed renovation as there were still pencil numbers on bathroom tiles and uncleaned grout in some places. Bit of a haul to get to the beach. Did not see much advertising for gym facilities so did not know where they were until late in the trip.

Very Large Resort!

I visited this resort in 2015 with a friend from work. I would have given this resort 5 stars if it weren't for my own preferences. I was with a co-worker sharing a room and the water closet and shower both had clear glass doors. This is a huge resort connected to other Grand Palladiums so you have to be ready for a bit of exercise. Food was better than usual and pools were amazing. Planning another trip to the Grand Palladium Kantenah for this May 2017 and this time will give 5 stars!

Nice rooms great beach

We just spent 10 days at the white sands. We like this spot as it is in the middle of the 4 palladium resort complex. The beach is nice ( water shoes would be recommended as there is some coral) this also makes for great snorkeling. Even during spring. Break week there were chairs to be had and there are a few hammocks in the beach as well By white sands there is a snack bar ( day) turned al a Carter restaurant at night. The resort is clean. Breakfast is buffet style with an egg station plenty of pastries as well as fresh crepes fruit and yogurt. Anything you could think of for breakfast really. The rooms are recently renovated and have an in room spa tub a small seating area with a pull out sofa and either two double or one king bed ( we had both as kids stayed in the room next to ours ) There is a small balcony ( would of been really nice to have comfortable chair there. We brought a pillow from inside for the chair so we could sit out there. The activities around the pool are ok at best. But there is a big sports center at the hotel next door and they are all connected with walk ways trains or carts that are constantly running so it's easy to get between the resorts. Our son would spend most his time at the more kids friendly resorts next door. The food. : the breakfast was great. Except when the place is empty but you have to wait in line to get in to be seated. Some mornings the line went around the corner out. Crazy if you ask me!!' The rest needs improvement. The alacarte restaurants were pretty awful. The tapas was empty yet we had to get a buzzer and wait 45 min for a table ... we were embarrassed but we did leave during the main course we were starving and not one thing that was listed in the menus outside was served. The Italian. You could get better hot pasta in in the buffet. The sauce and pasta was cold and I mean like stick together really cold and he pizza if you can call it that raw. The steakhouse was ok. But then again we had the burger. Excursions : I would recommend not booking through the hotel we saved $240 on one trip between the 4 of us for the same excursion booked on line. So look on here and search and book there we used ( alltournative tours) Bring your own snorkel equipment. It is beautiful The hotel store is outrageously expensive.. not he usual slightly marked up but ridiculous. I lost my hat and purchased one as I needed one for $30 US dollars. You can get one in town ( same one ) for $3 US dollars. The cab to playa Del carmen is $18 totally worth it for a day out and some shopping approx 30 min or so or the bus leaves right outside the resort for $2 We had a lovely time but we miss gold flavoring he best meal we had was in the excursion and in town. We never had a great meal at any of he restaurants at the hotel. The shows do not even start until 10:30 so even during march break it was fairly empty. It is just too late to get started. So we did not make it though one so I can not comment on he quality. For us it was good as there were a lot of activities for our son. He loved water polo and beach volleyball. The rooms were spacious and clean. The shuttles made getting places easy and simple. He location was great. Beach offered everything from white sand to coral reefs to the salt water pool. The spa is beautiful however they had a special which was $240 for two people. And you get to use the steam room and pool. We paid $18 a person in playa Del carmen. So you can decide. A little indulgence is always nice but.... Would we return? Probably not but we like to visit new places and we enjoy good food. But as a family resort we would rate it a 3.5 the rooms and use of other common areas make it a 4 There is a Segway tour on the property for $40 per person it was fun and a great way to see the resort.

Great resort. Disappointed with additional fees

We stayed at this resort for spring break with four other families and 17 people total. The resort is gorgeous and the staff is kind. We had excellent servers by the pool- specifically Juan and Mary. Both were so responsive and wonderful. Food was ok. Hard to get into restaurants with 17 people and only two took reservations which made it very hard. Rooms were great. Cleaning of room was wonderful. Wonderful pools and plenty of food and drink. Only complaint is about fees that they charged us. We booked two rooms for four of us so we would have plenty of room. We could have just done one and it would have been less expensive but we paid extra to have two rooms. There were four of us-my wife and me and our two daughters- 17 and 12. One week before our trip our twelve year olds's best friend Sofie found out her brother has a severe kidney disease and would need to go on dialysis and would soon need a kidney transplant. This family had planned a spring break cruise but had to cancel it with this kidney situation. We offered to take Sofie with us so that the mom and dad could focus on their son and his illness. It would also allow sofie to get away. We sent a note to Grand Pallidium White sands and asked how it would be handled. They sent us an email that (we still have)that said that there would be no charge for adding sofie since we had two rooms. Well- long story short- once we arrived they said that there was a fee of $117 per day for Sofie. We showed them the email that their front desk manager sent and that it said no cost. They said that since we did not book directly with them there would be a fee. But they said if we had booked with them it was free. We said that was not on email front desk manager sent. Then we said that one of the other families in our group only had five people and that they also got two rooms and they HAD booked directly with hotel and could we move Sofie to their room? They would not allow it. We got nowhere and ended up paying over $800 for a 12 year old that weighs 85 pounds and barely eats anything and clearly does not drink any alcohol. I am very disappointed in how this was handled (telling us before that it was free and then charging us over $800 once on site when we had no choice). Seems very wrong to me so I will not recommend this resort to anyone.

Great visit !!!

Must visit the sea-water pool- the most peaceful spot at the resort!! Beautiful grounds-- they left a lot of the vegetation intact between the buildings so it was very peaceful, private, and beautiful. Hospitality- food, service, mini bar, room accommodations - everything was very enjoyable. Incredibly friendly and attentive staff. Had to use the resort doctor for a respiratory bug I picked up and received great personal care at a reasonable price.
