Beautiful Resort Little to no English Spoken

Resort was Beautiful. Be prepared for little to know English being spoken. Front Desk did know English however that was about it. We did manage through the week. BE careful what you eat. Meat is undercooked and not kept hot leaving food contaminated. Flies were not noticeable at first but by day 3 we did notice the flies. We did also see mice running outside the buffet. With all that food, I can understand. DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT, drink the water, not even rinse your toothbrush. They do not treat it. Be careful even if you cut your leg and take shower. Bacteria can enter your body. I was fine all week until the last day. I came down with terrible cramping and uncontrolable bowel movements every 45 minutes for 3 days straight. No sleep and was miserable. Went to Dr. and was placed on strong antiobiotic. They blamed food contamination. Not sure I will go back.

The resort was very clean. I don't have any complaints on the food, but the earlier you get to the buffets, the better. The pools were beautiful & clean. The drinks were great! The room was always clean, the maids were always on top of making sure you had fresh towels. Only recommendation, has to do with how the place was constructed. The showers, Leak everywhere. We had to create a wall of towels around the shower/bath in order to not get our entire room flooded. Also, the doors to the rooms slam, very loudly. Which makes it difficult to sleep past 8am. The beach was also beautiful, I saw reviews before going of people complaining about the sea weed- there was some sea weed. But it's because of the side of the island the resort is located on, and they do try to keep it maintained. The language barrier was frustrating after a couple of days, very few people spoke fluent English. Ordering at the sit-down restaurants and asking specific questions was very difficult. Overall I would recommend this resort; giving it 4/5 stars overall.

Overall the place was beautiful, food was good.. the only issue I had was I booked for two inbeds, instead I got one king bed and sdifa. Ed that was hard plastic!!!!! Also, it was hard to get help from the staff unless I went back to The front desk, because no one spoke English..... that. Evans frustrating at times... they wise the place was beautiful and I loved it

This was our first experience booking with Apple Vacations and we were very pleased! There were apple representatives to greet us at our departing and arriving airport as well as at our resort to give us details about Punta Cana and excursion options. Grand Palladium was an excellent resort! We went as a couple, but this might be a resort you would pick to go with family or friends. There weren't too many people who were there just as couples. This isn't something that bothered us, but if it is something that would bother you then you may want to look into a different resort. The buffet's offered good quality food and had many different varieties. My boyfriend is very picky and he was very satisfied with the food options. If you want to eat at a restaurant be sure to get there early as they fill up quick! Make reservations for the japanese restaurant the day you arrive at the resort if you plan on eating there. We were disappointed when we were not able to make a reservation because it books up so quick and we had no idea. One complain I have is about the maid service. We wen't out for dinner one night and when we returned to our room at about 9:30 the room to our door was open. There was a maid inside of our room cleaning. To me this was definitely not ok since there was already a maid in our room earlier in the day to clean our room. I was a little thrown off by this. Also a few times in the morning a maid would knock on our door, barely gave us enough time to wake up, and would just walk in. After that we kept the top lock on our door so that wouldn't happen again. The maids should just be more courteous of people's privacy. The hotel staff and bar staff were excellent and very friendly, especially inside the sports bar. This resort is huge, so definitely plan some time to explore the resort and see all the different options they have to offer. We got lucky because our room was very close to one of the many pools as well as the beach. If you are looking for a fun place to stay that offers good food, excellent service, and a lot to do I would recommend staying here!

We had a roll a way bed in our room all week after asking 3 times to have it removed. Three of our four rooms had showers that leaked into the room. Phones that didn't work. Restaraunt reservations weee horrible, it was an all week thing. My husband couldn't wear a tank top to the buffet but I seen a woman in a thong with a see through cover up.

The property is beautiful, there was some construction going on but I appreciate the improvement. The Apple reps were great. The resort is big, that was good for our group. Plenty of room to explore and we were able to get rides most of the time. The rooms are nice, shower is poorly designed as I've read many say, but it was just an inconvenience, nothing major. Service can be spotty in the buffets but very good in the restaurants. It gets better after a few days when we became more familiar faces. We enjoyed the buffets with many things to choose from. The Steakhouse was our favorite restaurant. The beach is beautiful, clean white sand, clear blue water, the best I've seen. Overall a great trip, relaxing, no major problems to report, we would definitely go back!

Upon check in..the manager on duty wouldn't listen to me and I was trying to ask if an upgrade was available and what the price would be. There were 9 of us in our party and we arrived early so they weren't busy. As one of the rooms were not close to others we did ask for room change and a young lady did take care of that. But upgrade wasn't offered nor was I able to ask. He just wanted to hurry us off. The rooms were all good and we were please with the locations. However, I asked for specifics for my minifridge and even left a note in spanish to have only coca light, cerveza and agua. For 2 days still did not get my request. We finally caught the drink boy and explained to him what we wanted and he complied. However it was not on a daily basis. I was lucky if I even got one soda. Had to take from our other party's rooms. Rediculous for a simple request and I left him a tip which he gladly took on more than one occasion. Most of the staff is not friendly. We travel many times to resorts and I was appalled at how lax the staff is here. Pool service was horrible. No enthusiasm at all. We ordered from pool server (pina colada) not sure what we were given but def not a pina colada. No smiles just mopey all day. The bar staff was ok just depended on who was there. Ramon took care of us several times and was always friendly. The beach bar staff was the same. Just there no enthusiasm at all. The only place we ever felt wanted was the buffet..Nico was our morning waiter and he was always friendly and nice and so Mulena(Brazilian). The Brazilian steak house bar was amazing. Kelvin was exceptional. He went above and beyond for us so we went to see him every evening just to have some friendly service and drinks that were consistent. Mervyn, Freddie and Paul in Japanese restaurant were outstanding. They made us feel so welcomed and appreciated to be there. We loved being around them. They had wonderful personalities and always smiling. The rest of the staff could take notes from Kelvin, Paul Freddie and Mervyn. The mexican restaurant was very good. Horrible experience at the Italian. Service was extremely horrible as was the food. We ended up leaving. Couldn't eat the food. Couldn't even get our water filled. Upon leaving the blame was on the kitchen staff. No way was that the case other than the food be inedible. We took 7 people on this vacation that had never been to an all inclusive resort. Sad to say they may never go again due to the lack of service and bad food

We went as a group of 11 and from the very start the service was terrible. Starting from the airlines who lost one luggage and broke another. The transfer from the airport to the hotel was ridiculously long. We waited 2 hours on the bus. The resort was clean, beautiful and big which was great. The employees were not very friendly and at times very rude. The restaurant reservations was a joke, on average 1 hour wait. We even had a wait to get into a buffet. The beds were terrible, hard as a rock. The bathroom was very strangely done. We had a family of 3 and it made showering and going to the bathroom complicated because of the glass wall. Also the inside of the shower didn't have a door so it remained as a pool. The food was mediocre compared to other resorts we've stayed at. The best part of the trip was the beach. Punta Cana has great beaches and we love it there but this resort missed the mark.

Amazing grounds (4 resorts in one). Amazing staff and food. Pools are abundant and there was always a chair available (however going early is best practice). My very first all inclusive and trip out of the states; I'd do it again tomorrow!

Rooms have been upgraded since our last visit in 2014 and so has much of the grounds and is very pleasant. We enjoyed all of the facilities and were not really put out by the ongoing refurbishment that is currently taking place, however there is exceptions. The reason I have only given 4 stars is this property is never worthy of 5 due to poor food in all restaurants. When wrote about this property back in 2014 we were happy with the food but did not like the fact a la carte could not be booked. Well this side of of hotel has deteriorated, the buffet is same day in day out, and I and 2 others in my group came down with upset stomachs. I ended up eating toast each morning and barely anything else at all. The A la Carte restaurants are not at that level at all and one night we waited 2.5 hours for a table only to be served up tepid food of poor quality. Food temp throughout all places to eat was poor. It is no good maling sure all people eating cleanse hands if food is not being served correctly.

Hotel check in was quick and easy, we travelled as a party of 7 people sharing 4 rooms between us. We had requested one of our rooms to have two beds and this request was met without extra cost. We were also all put together on the same floor which was really good. Rooms were very nice, modern decor, good air con, good stocked mini bar fridge and our cleaner francesca was fantastic. The only minor problem was a small leak from the shower to the bedroom due to the design of the shower having frosted glass sliding doors, the water crept through, we put down a small towel to absorb it so wasn't really a massive problem. Drinks were very good with some good branded names, the bar staff and pool bar staff and drinks waiters were excellent especially Felix who looked after us very well by the pool near Bohio restaurant, went out of his way to help find us a sun beds when it was busy at the foam party and made sure we had water and all our alcoholic drink choices throughout our stay, he is a very hard working employee. The al a carte restaurants were very good mostly, we had two visits to the steak house which was our favourite and excellent both times, this is a must! The Italian was great the first time mainly because our server Michael was very efficient and friendly however the 2nd visit was a different server and unfortunately made a lot of mistakes with our order. Michael served us both evenings at the steak house too and was excellent there as well,he is a credit to the grand palladium. Asian restaurant was very good too, I had the bamboo beef it was wonderful, the Indian restaurant was absolutely fantastic, no complaints great staff great food, Spanish restaurant not so good unfortunately our order was wrong and the food wasn't brilliant. For me the things that make this a 4 star not 5 star is the fact that it takes forever in the buffet restaurants to get a drink, especially in the mornings getting a cup of tea or coffee was almost painful I would like to suggest self service tea, coffee and water facilities in addition to staff serving hot drinks, I would have been happier if I could have got a drink quickly even if it meant getting my own. The buffet food although plenty of choice was rarely hot and I can't stand lukewarm food, I also watched the chef serve me cooked roast beef using the same tongs he had used for raw chicken!! This needs addressing as not acceptable, these few things are the only things that let it down for me, in saying that the resort is beautiful, the beach is one of the best and entertainment overall lots and not bad. I agree they need a quiet bar as the lobby bars get very noisy and hard to talk but still fun on the nights you want to party. The white party on the beach and the foam party in the pool were excellent and great fun. I would definitely return to this resort all staff were very friendly and helpful, best staff for us were Felix, Michael, Leonardo, keelan,jowhaska,I apologise if my spelling of names are wrong. Gustavo our Tui rep was very good, helpful friendly and fun. We thoroughly recommend the carribean cruising trip although a lot of money it was truly a day to remember and worth every penny, please do this excursion, our guide for the day Victor (obama) was very funny and a great guide with a lot of knowledge of the Dominican republic, very pleased to have spent the day in his company- seemed a lovely genuine man. Overall this is a very very good resort, probably not the best we have stayed at but it is up amongst them, the few things I have mentioned that bothered me are quite simply basic things (apart from the raw chicken utensil incident) this would not stop me visiting this resort again as we had a wonderful holiday and we were sad to leave. We would definitely recommend this place to friends and family without hesitation.

We came for a family wedding. Having stayed at other Palace resorts from other brands, we had high expectations of a resort having the Palace name attached to it. Boy, were we wrong! We have been 3 times to DR, specifically Punta Cana, and have always gone home wanting to come back, but this experience didn't want us to return. We stayed in a loft suite, which was really nice. Being at a Palace, we were expecting a private check in reception with a welcome drink and a warm towel on arrival. Didn't get that. We were also expecting that the Palace would be exclusive to Palace guests within the complex. We get to our loft suite, and really liked the layout and the view. Amazing! No liquor dispenser, and only 2 beers in the fridge. Ok, maybe they didn't replenish, no big deal. No water bottles in the room. Called down for water, didn't get them till the next day. (Luckily, we found a staff member with the water cart). Get to the buffet, found food to be cold and flies were everywhere, including bees. A big factor to enjoy any resort is the food, which we found was really lacking at this resort. Tropical fruit should be sweet and plentiful, not the case here. While some wait staff were friendly, majority weren't. They seemed inconvenienced that you asked for something, and some seemed to know no English at all. Found staff at the al la carts a little better, but still for some reason not hot. Seemed a lot of the dishes were from the buffet, just fancier presentations. Some bar staff, especially at the pool, were more concerned chatting with other staff rather than serving guests. On some occasions, when I had to get their attention, they would roll their eyes and talk negative about you to other staff (I have a basic knowledge of Spanish). Not good at all, very unprofessional. Shower had no water pressure, and there was no shower door. I don't understand why there would be a glass partition door between the shower/bath tub and the bed, as water always dripped into the bedroom. Every time you would shower, the floor would get soaked. This makes for a very unsafe area, as it is quite the climb to get into the tub. Constant work around the resort, but not intrusive at all, except for the covered walkway, where the leaves on the rooftop were being replaced. There were branches everywhere, making for treacherous walking, especially at night. Not all was bad though. The Indian restaurant was the best in terms of food taste and temperature. The chef himself was Indian, and was seen taking the time to speak with guests. Staff at the Spanish Tapas al la cart were happy and professional. William, bar tender at the Palace pool bar, was very friendly, asked everybody around the pool bar their names, where they were from , and made conversation. The rest of the staff should learn from him. The guys at the towel hut were great too, always smiling and dancing. Beach was fabulous, just as expected in Punta Cana. Pool area was well kept, having a live DJ, and entertainment. Will return to Punta Cana, but not to this brand of resort. As stated before, having been to other Palace resorts at different brands, expectations were high. I think there is a lot of potential to make this resort world class, but there is a lot of training to be done with the staff.

I have just gotten back from this resort a few days ago and felt that a review was definitely necessary. From reading many of the previous reviews I feel that I am not alone in saying that the food was very sub-par. I ate at the 2 main buffets for lunch and dinner a couple of the days there and I also agree that nothing there was very hot. Most of the food was luke warm at best and it was all very bland. I also have to agree that there was a very noticeable absence of vegetables. There were a lot of rice and potato options but really nothing else. My biggest concern in regards to the food was the few times I ate at an a la carte restaurant. I ate at the Bamboo (chinese food restaurant), Chef Raffaele (italian restaurant), La Parrilla (steakhouse) and the sports bar. The service at the Bamboo restaurant was excellent, and the food was good. This was also the only restaurant that did not get our order wrong and everything came as ordered. Chef Raffaele had a fantastic salad bar and the service again was good, however a few of our guests were given the wrong order and one of our guests did not even get theirs. The sports bar was where we primarily went for lunch as it was about the only place to get hot food. The burgers and hotdogs there were always very fresh and "hot off the grill". I would recommend going there for all lunches. Finally, the La Parilla... on our first day to the resort my group made a reservation to eat here (10 people) which the earliest open reservation was 5 days wait. The food at this restaurant was very good, however again more than half of us got the wrong food. Though none of us minded because it all tasted so good. The greatest part of this restaurant was the service!!! The staff at this place was the friendliest and most energetic of anywhere on the whole resort. Our waiter brought in another server and they sang to us, and then near the end of the meal more servers came in and played music and sang some more!! This was so fun that we talked about it all night! The resort seemed to be very clean and the beaches were very nice. I also liked the fact that you could always see someone cleaning up empty glasses and garbage left behind by guests. I also never had any trouble finding a place to sit by the pool or at the beach, and when you did, you didn't have to wait long for someone to ask if you needed anything. The biggest disappointment I had with this resort, and probably the only reason I would not return is the serious lack of communication to the guests about activities. I installed the hotels APP to my smartphone which at first seemed very handy as it listed all activities and allowed you to make reservations at restaurants. However the activity information on the APP was almost always wrong and the reservation part of it was very slow. Many times I went to an area where an activity was supposed to happen and there was nothing going on. I also did not like the fact that all of the "fun" activities only happened once per week. There was a very fun beach party that happened on Monday night, but it only happens once per week.This was also the same for a foam pool party. I missed this and never got another chance to do it. So if you do plan to go here, find out right away when the activities are and plan them out. Also i would recommend that you make any dinner reservations right away too, as we had to wait 5 days just to get into one of them.

Where to start? Well, this place is great value for money. We have been lucky enough to take many all inc. holidays in many exotic destinations and based on our experience this place is right up there with the best. Yes there is a lot of refurbishment going on but it was within our acceptable limits and did not detract from the holiday over all. The resort and grounds of all four Hotels are beautifully kept including of course the beach which was stunning. It does take a day or two to find your way around and at some point you will be grateful for the shuttles that are constantly passing by. During the day we would eat at either Las Torres or El Bohio Buffet restaurants in the Palace section but by the evening we would often drift over to the Cathedral Buffet restaurant in the Bavaro section as it was closer to the Theatre and Disco later on. If you take a good look round the buffet before loading up your plate you should be able to arrive back at your table with a hot meal ... We stayed two weeks (Nov 16 to Nov 30 in room 9311) and I'm sure we only tried half the food on offer! We like to tip little but often throughout our stay just to say thanks for good service. There was certainly no expectation from the staff and no pressure to do so because we saw very little tipping at all. The service at All Inc. resorts can be hit and miss but here it was spot on from start to finish. All the staff here were amazing! Any small issue we had was dealt with quickly and efficiently. Finally we would like to say a big thank you to the entertainment staff ( Banana, Palito, Nathalia, Pricilla and Odette). We had an absolute blast thanks to your incredible energy and enthusiasm. We would normally lye beside the pool like a couple of fried eggs but ended up taking part in all kind of games and sports and winning countless bottles of rum in the process! Hic! Almost forgot to mention we did day trips to Saona Island and Dolphin Island which were fantastic! We booked them through (Fransisco) on the Palace poolside. Big thanks to him.
