I just had my wedding week at the Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton January 10-16, 2018. Our wedding included about 55 guest with 6 bridesmaids and 7 groomsmen and it was absolutely wonderful. The planning was a little slow to start when I reached out to the wedding staff about a year in advanced- I am a total planner and wanted everything done immediately. They were taking about a week to respond and I got a little annoyed at that. After doing some research and reading reviews I found this is just the way they handle it. They pump out several weddings a week and don’t need a year to plan it. About a month away from the date, my wedding planner, was responding the same day. We were welcomed VIP with our own private table and welcome drink where our planner explained everything. We scheduled a walkthrough and a wedding overview the day before the wedding. We upgraded to the honeymoon suit because the upgrade included with our package was just a bigger suit. We rented a private catamaran through the water sports team onsite with Jean Dixon the Friday before the wedding and it was amazing!! I recommend that excursion 100%. Our rehearsal dinner was at the Poseidon for about 30 people. The dinner was good for resort food and the service was excellent. The wedding - The flowers were amazing and everything I wanted but I paid for all the upgraded flowers, the Dj was incredible and kept the party going, the wedding planner (Thorna) really took care of everything. I chose to go with another photographer because they could not tell me who was going to be the photographer at my wedding and therefor could not show me their work. I was not comfortable with them just sending anyone so I went with Stacey Clarke and she was fantastic. I brought a few of my own decorations and they set them up perfectly. I chose the Bliss and Bloom packages which covered about 20 people, so be aware they will charge you for every single thing over 20 people. It was $20 per person at the ceremony, $3 for napkins, $10 chair rentals - I mean everything. We had a private reception at the Blue Lagoon and chose the Surf & Turf food options- it was very good. We chose to do the blue lighting ($800) which was totally worth it because it made the whole area a pretty hue, we rented 6 cooling fans ($1,000) and I’m so glad we did because the dance floor was so hot! We rented the reception for another hour ($8pp) which I think was worth it. Overall I totally recommend having your wedding at this resort - realize everyone there lives on island time so expect to wait for things to start and expect nothing will be exactly on time. They do charge for everything that is over your package number so if you want to stay in budget have a small amount of guests. They also have a lot of “upgrades” you end up paying for that I thought were included. The staff at the resort are so friendly and if you tip a few bucks to the bartenders and servers you will be treated wonderfully. If you don’t tip- expect a wait. If you’re easy going and go in to it knowing this is an island that runs on island time - you’ll have a wonderful experience.

A couple of days of rain could not spoil our trip! Mr De Groot and his staff made our first visit to Jamaica an amazing adventure. Sheena at Apple Vacations was extremely helpful and a pleasure to visit with. Our room was amazing - we upgraded from a one-bedroom to a "honeymoon suite." I loved the ocean-view out our balcony and the spa tub and outdoor shower were amazing. RayJay was our amazing shuttle driver (everything is close enough to walk, but because of health issues we often chose to ride). We enjoyed a couples massage at the spa - a first for me. The staff at the morning and noon buffets were very attentive ~ Noomi makes some fabulous omelets! ~ and the food and service at the specialty restaurants were A+ . We esp liked the habachi grill at the Lotus (Carleton puts on a great show!) and the Italian food at Arte e Cuccina. The Jerk Hut and Poseidon are not to be missed! We enjoyed an amazing drive into Negril and loved Seven Mile Beach. Not to go unmentioned - Ricardo Anderson at the front desk was an amazingly accomodating example of service and hospitality. He was a joy to meet and talk to. Jamaica was on our "list of places to see" ~ and I am happy to say that Mr De Groot and the Grand Palladium were part of our experience

Fantastic Vacation!!

As a bit of background information about us, we are a married fun loving couple in our late 40’s, not quite ready for a pipe and slippers lifestyle and in fact, in our own minds at least, we both still feel 18 years old even though we are both nearer 50. We travelled to the hotel for our main vacation in September 2017. We chose to vacation at the Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton Jamaica resort & spa after having many excellent stays at other Grand Palladium hotels in Punta Cana and Riviera Maya and so had hoped that we would receive the same level of service and scenic surroundings that we had previously experienced on those previous occasions. It has to be said that we were not disappointed by our choice, as it easily lived up to the expectation of those other resorts that we had visited. Although not a small resort, the Lady Hamilton is not as big as those in Punta Cana or Riviera Maya but in our opinion that was a plus point as everywhere was within walking distance without too much effort on our part. There was, however, regular buggies driving around the grounds for those that did not fancy the walk. Check in was fast and efficient with the staff on the reception being courteous and proficient in their duties. Our room was ready for immediate occupancy even though we had arrived a little earlier than the hotel had anticipated due to us taking a private transfer, rather than the tour operator transfer coach. As an excellent touch, Garth Berk came over and introduced himself to us as the front desk guest relations manager and welcomed us as returning guests. This set a common theme for our interaction with all of the staff at the hotel, as all staff that we encountered were so friendly and eager to help in all aspects of making our visit a comfortable one. In fact our stay at the Lady Hamilton was such a great vacation that we have now booked to return in early September 2018. After the bellhop guys had loaded our luggage onto a golf cart we were driven to our room in block 32 where the guy insisted on carrying both sets of luggage up to our room on the second floor. The room was spacious and clean with a large bed in the centre, a relaxing area with a sofa, a table and two comfortable chairs. Equipment in the room was exactly as advertised, a fridge that was stocked daily with beer and soft drinks, coffee maker (coffee, sugar, milk also replenished daily), wall mounted TV, hair dryer, ironing equipment, an alarm clock/I pod dock, a safe and the room was fully air conditioned and also had a large ceiling mounted fan. Our balcony, positioned to the side of block 32, overlooked the sea / gardened area and was equipped with a table and two chairs. A perfect vantage point to watch the setting sun on an evening. Our maid was excellent during our stay and the room was cleaned to a very high standard every day. For breakfast we used predominantly the Mo Bay and Negril Buffet restaurants. Both buffets were stocked with the usual breakfast foods that you would expect along with an area where omelettes were cooked in front of you to your taste. Choices of foods was diverse and all well prepared. On a few occasions we used the Poseidon Sunset Cove restaurant on a morning but unfortunately this was not open for breakfast every day which was a pity because the setting overlooking the sea was perfect for a relaxed breakfast without feeling as if you were in a cafeteria. We did use the same for lunch times and for evening meals when it doubled up as one of the A la carte restaurants. On each occasion the service and food available was great. Other restaurants that we used were the El Mariachi Mexican, Bubba’s Grill House, Pastafarian Italian, Xaymaica Creole restaurant, The Bhogali Indian Restaurant where again the range of food was fantastic and the staff in all were well trained and a pleasure to be served by. Thanks to Shereeta in the Bhogali especially for the professional service you gave on all of the occasions that you served us. Whilst on this point of saying thank you, I’d like to say a thank you to Gillian Lewis, the cocktail waitress who was usually set up outside the restaurants offering drinks to guests as they waited to be seated in the restaurants. Always smiling, happy and chatty. Never failed to put us in a good frame of mind before enjoying our evening meals. Also a massive thank you to Talieka Grant who was assigned to us from guest relations to look after us during our stay and whom we booked our meals through. We felt as if this girl looked after us as if we were part of her own family with great attention to detail. An absolutely fantastic touch which made our stay so much more special, so thank you. OK, back to the restaurants, we also used the Lotus House Asian restaurant which was a little bit of a disappointment compared to other Asian restaurants that we’ve visited at Grand Palladium resorts. Drinks were served a little bit slower and the staff were not as attentive although it was the last show of the night when we ate there so maybe that was a contributing factor. The only other place that we ate at was the Jerk hut which we were not keen on, although the food was ok and staff just as courteous as anywhere else on the resort, it was probably not one of our favourites due to not wanting to share our food with the bugs in the beach location of sunset cove. The cove itself is great for a relaxing day at the beach with plentiful seating areas and is extremely picturesque and well maintained. As a tip though, water shoes are an absolute necessity as there are rocky areas just under the surface of the water and a few areas of the beaches that are not so easy going on bare feet. On the beach itself, there’s a hut where Catamarans, Kayaks, snorkelling, paddle boats and windsurfing gear could be obtained as part of the all-inclusive deal with payable extras activities of fishing, sailing courses, windsurfing courses and motorized water sports. Various excursions could also be booked at the beach hut, of which we only booked one, an all-day trip which began on a catamaran that anchored up for an hour of snorkelling in an area with plenty of coral to explore, before taking us to Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville for lunch. Then it was off to an area for shopping by coach before heading off to Rick’s café afterwards. We found this to be a great trip with plenty of variety in activities and certainly one that we would recommend. The excursion was well organised if only a little busy to fit everything that’s on it into one day. The other two beaches that we used at the hotel were Las Brisas beach and coral beach both of which both were very well maintained and clean. Of the two, Coral beach was the quietest being an adult beach located next to the adult pool where we spent the majority of our time. The bar staff at this pool were very good as were the waiting staff, security staff, towel guys and lifeguards, again, very much in keeping with our experience of all of the staff that we encountered. Fresh towels were always available from both pools and the range of drinks at all of the pool area bars was excellent. The Infinity pool is massive and although the swim up bar could get a little noisy and a bit busy, it was always easy to get served without too much waiting around and seating around the pool was plentiful with quiet shaded areas in which to retreat from the hot midday sun or the hustle and bustle of the pool. Sports at the hotel also seemed to be well catered for and included 3 tennis courts, 2 tennis Beach volleyball, 1 basketball court, 1 soccer field with artificial turf, and a 9-hole mini golf. There’s also a spa & gym on site although as my increased waistline on returning to the UK can attest, we did not use it as we had promised we would prior to arriving in Jamaica. The resort also boasts a children’s club which I cannot comment upon how good it was, even though my wife threatened to drop me off there when my alcohol fuelled childish antics got above her tolerance level on more than a few occasions. Talking of alcohol and bars, these seemed to be dotted all over the place and probably too many for me to list out here. Our favourite of them was Miss Lou’s where the room was air conditioned and the setting perfect for a pre-dinner drink and if I’m truthful a post dinner drink too. The entertainment team put on various activities throughout the day and a main show on the night time after the kid’s mini disco has ended. Live music and disco’s etc take place nightly in the Infinity lobby bar and later there is a nightclub called the Woogie Boogie disco bar which offers a little later drinking and dancing. There’s also a casino on the grounds with plenty of slots to play although I believe local laws outlaw tables in casinos All in all we left the Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton a little richer for the experience of visiting and made so many happy memories. More to the point we made many more friends of the staff that we met during our stay, probably more than at any of the other Grand Palladium hotels that we have stayed at. In conclusion, we had a great vacation and the thing that made it all the more special was the extra mile that the staff went to, so much so that we couldn’t wait to re-book our next vacation there in 2018.
