I have just returned last week from a 2wk holiday with my partner (for his 50th) to this hotel. On arrival in our room was a bottle of champagne & 2 Onyx Dolphins as gifts, which I felt was a nice touch. Throughout our stay there were staff members who stood out for us as they were super friendly & very helpful. Mario in the main lobby bar is 1 of the nicest guys I have met & he is very attentive & makes amazing cocktails. Orlando who is part of the entertainment team is such a lovely young guy, always happy & always willing to take the time to chat to you to see how your stay is. The rooms are very comfortable & large. They are very clean & towels get replaced everyday. The buffet restaurants are what they are. We had a few meals in the Steakhouse & the food was really nice. We did find that it seems to be a thing that the food is not piping hot but luke warm. We decided to go to the Brazilian restaurant & ended up walking out as the service was absolutely shocking. Staff were not listening to dietary requirements. The entertainment was outstanding throughout the day as there were always bands/singers playing in the beach bar & pool bar too. I would definitely recommend a stay here as all staff are friendly & work extremely hard too.

Much Improved over Last Year, Cannot wait to go back!

We first stayed at this property in June of 2016. I thought it was "okay" but my husband really liked it so I agreed to give it another try. We just returned from a great week at this property. Since our first visit I noticed some nice improvements at the resort. First of all the drinks are much better. Last year all that was available outside of the Hemingway Bar was rail liquor, this year all bars were well stocked with good options (Skyy, Absolute, Bombay, Tanqueray, Jim Beam, Bailey's, Bacardi, Captain Morgan, etc.) Each evening throughout the resort there were specialty cocktail tables set up which was a nice touch. The restaurants also seem to have improved. There is a new Thai restaurant at the Kantenah hotel and it was excellent. The El Dorado steakhouse meals were also exceptional. The service throughout the resort was top notch. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. Obviously since this resort is in Mexico, many staff speak only Spanish but thanks to the translation features on the smart phone this is an easy challeng to overcome. The rooms also showed some signs of fresh paint and pictures on the walls. The rooms remain spacious and comfortable and, of great importance to us, can be cooled to a very refreshing temperature using the A/C. While I appreciate the eco-friendly elements of the resort I was pleased to see less 'wildlife' in the main areas of the property than we saw last year. While nature is part of the experience, I do not want to be fighting for my food with the indigenous animals. I highly recommend this resort, it is a GREAT value and we cannot wait to go back.

Amazing resort

I am currently here and leave tomorrow. This resort was beyond expectations. My mom and I came to Cancun last year around this time but went to the princess hotel. This resort was so much better! The beach is amazing clear water with lots of fish, they have an enclosure for the baby sea turtles eggs to protect them. The one day on the beach there was a nest that hatched it wasn't marked so it was a surprise all of a sudden baby sea turtles came pouring out of the sand the people at the resort all ran to help the staff pick them up and put them in the bin so they can release them at night when it is safe. I got the chance to hold a baby turtle is was amazing! The food is very good churros every day for breakfast yum! We went to a restaurant every day, I couldn't believe how amazing the food was at these restaurants it's literally like a 5 star restaurant and the decor is beautiful! I can't believe people go to the buffets for supper, the restaurants werernt even busy when we went! You don't have to make any reservations at the restaurants except for the Japanese cooking show and some other one. The resort is big but they have trolleys to take u to lobbies and villas, we never had any issues getting one. I suggest going to the mexican restaurant the tortilla soup is delicious, make sure you go to the japanese cooking show it is amazing and get the deep fried ice cream dessert it's so good! also go to La lola spanish restaurant we went twice because of how good it is make sure u get the ossobuko dish, the thai restaurant was very good too. There is lots of entertainment live bands at lunch time and lots of things going on at night. I looked forward to seeing the dancers every night very good shows. The rooms are nice we never had any problems. Make sure u bring big spray. The spa is over priced they want almost 200 US for a massage i can get it way cheaper for where i live. When we were on the beach a spa representative came and lowered it to 100 Us for the 80 minute massage and gave us 3 addition days for spa access. The massage was amazing!!! and the spa facilities are so relaxing loved the turkish bath and the pool there is a juice bar the smoothies were soo good. For the excursions i do not recommend going on the cozumel jeep trip to chankanaab and punts sur with cucurumbe tours, it was expensive and when we got to the first park we went snorkelling the reef sucked and the only reason there was some fish is because they guy put some food, sure he takes a nice picture but behind the scenes it sucked, food was not great, then after we get the jeeps to go to punta sur, everyone in the group got beautiful jeeps we got a half broken jeep! the seat belts didn't work i told the tour guides i didn't feel comfortable to go because of seat belts and they didn't care and it was standard so we couldn't drive it we had to let the other people drive the roof was broken and it broke down twice and smelled of urine. my mom had a white wet shirt she put on the seat it turned yellow and reeked of animal piss. punta ser was pretty beautiful beach but they barley gave us any time at the beach the drive was very nice too the experience would have been a lot more enjoyable if we had a nice jeep. also they didn't tell us about the tequila factory stop that pissed us off we had to stay 40 minutes of them trying to sell us tequila also the people who drove the jeep had a lot of tequila to drink and then they drive the jeep with us in it with no working seat belts not safe at all and we were driving fast. I will not come back in october because of the weather last year we came same time it was sunny everyday this time we only had 2 days of sun the rest has been raining and cloudy the whole day no sun!! anyways go to this resort it's beautiful you won't regret it !

Nice Place BUT not worth it

Me and my girlfriend stayed in this resort at the of our holiday for 3 nights after our round-trip of Yucatan. When we arrived we were impressed by the sheer size and atmosphere of the hotel. It is a really beautiful place with large garden facilities and nicely decorated. When we were introduced to the all the inclusive options we were astonished - minibar, drinks, food etc.. more on this topic later. The room was very nice with A/C, two double beds, more than enough towels, a safe, beauty products - it has everything I could ask for of hotel room. The pool looked nice and clean. The beach, which we prefer over pools, was also very nice and not too crowded. It was also not densely packed with loungers. In general the variety of food and drinks was great - but the quality was not really what we would consider high. The spirits were of regular good brands, which is a plus. But everything that should contain (natural) juice was made with awfully tasting, sweetener-packed and artificially-coloured sirup based "juice". Even the cola in a Cuba Libre tasted watered-down. I then got on to drink only mojitos (maybe 5 in total) as they do not contain anything than spirit, mint, sugar and water - no bad ingredient to spoil it all. The food variety at breakfast was also perfect - but nothing tasted really good, rather average. The dinner restaurants we visited were of different qualities. We tried the mexican, brasilian and thai restaurants. The mexican restaurant had good food but from what we experienced before on the round-trip it was not authentic - it was slightly altered to be more fancy. The brasilian restaurant was really not worth it - we could choose sides from a buffet and then a waiter would come around to serve rather average quality meat he cut or pulled from a giant skewer. The meat was in part not cooked long enough and also not well seasoned - only the beef brisket was tasty. The thai restaurant was also okay but nothing special. We did not try any of the animation program, as we did not care too much about it. But here also the program itself sounded quite decent. One additional point that was also realile faly bad is the "crocodile farm". There are crocodiles living there in clearly miserable conditions at very small pools - definitely not how they should live. In general we concluded for ourselves that we do not need resorts like this. Its better to stay in a smaller hotel, go to the beach for free, and pay for good drinks rather than getting disgusting cocktails. Also I also do not think I would spent as much money a day for acommodation, food and drinks as a night in this hotel costs.

This resort is a 75 minute drive south of the Cancun International airport, The shuttle ride was $20 per person plus a tip. The Kantenah Resort & Spa is hidden from the highway as many resorts are but once you get to the hotel you feel as if you have reached Fantasy Island. This is a huge complex with multiple pools, bars & restaurants with dozens of activities. We had a very nice room in the Kantenah section. The food, booze, in room mini bar, stage shows, were all inclusive with our price of $205 per day. Tip are included also although the staff appreciates them and gets you super service. This is the best vacation for the money we have ever taken. The airfare was more the the resort cost.
