Very nice property

We had a good time at this resort. The Kantenah lobby is the quieter one for sure, which was nice for a night cap, but if you wanted to see and do more the Colonial lobby was better. Hallowe'en was fun - especially the girl in the bed that moved. We got alot of laughs from that, the way she scared people. Very entertaining. Our room was nice, but housekeeping really lacked. Our bathtub was never cleaned and I was not impressed by that. She also did not empty garbage every day and did not clear away excess glasses, etc. This was the first time we did not leave a tip in the room when we left. The service in the buffet was really good; much slower in the a la cartes. We had a reservation for 8pm in the seafood restaurant, and we did not get seated til almost 8:45. Then a large table monopolized the waiter's time and we just sat there for another 15 minutes before we left. The hostess corrected the problem and moved us, and the service became much better. The food was very good everywhere we went. We were really impressed with their baked goods - really awesome. The drinks are good, the champagne was good, we have no complaints about that. The beach was very windy when we were there - and it is quite rocky. I would not return to this property for that reason alone (rocks). There are much nicer beaches in the Mayan. People struggled to get into the water without hurting their feet - myself included - and I know there are better locations out there. I really wanted to try this property and I won't say I was disappointed with the hotel itself, but I was with the beach. I am also appalled that my luggage was broken into at the Cancun airport - bags left open after being pilfered through and damage done, plus theft. Makes me not want to travel through that airport again. Just shameful.

Very relaxing. Pleasant atmosphere.

This is a great place to spend a few days relaxing. Lots to do nearby, and if you take an hour out of your time to listen to them try to sell you a timeshare, you get a lot of great perks like coupons for the spa and nearby attractions. Beach is nice, and the restaurant by the ocean is fabulous!

Don’t recommend!

I have been to many all inclusive resorts, but never had such a bad experience as with Grand Palladium Kantenah Resort Akumal. The resort itself is nice, placed in nature, mangroves, and a lot of lizzards all around. But the service level was very, very low.😟 Let me just name the major reasons why they will not see me at any of GrandPalladium hotels in the future: 1- for more than 4 hours I was locked out of my room. The keys were working and ok, but the lock on the door seemed to be broken. Instead of sending somebody over to fix it, they were sending me over to my room to check it just to get rid of me. Allways different person that I need to explain my situation, which btw was not put in the hotel system as a complain to be worked on. When I finally realized they did not take me seriously I called the manager, who fix the problem in 5 min. He promissed me a reward/apology for the inconvinience. Nothing happened. This has happened on my second day that they were sending me back and forth to my room instead of fixing it right away. 2- my 15-year girl has minor mobile disabilities and many pains connected to this. After the breakfast we usually went to beach to book a deckchairs where we could spent a day in the shadow. Often she even don’t go to the see...just enjoy the view...One day a young rude couple took our towels away, put them on other chairs and out of the shadow, and took the/“our” place. I tried nicely to explain our situation. But they did not care. They were laughing at me that I just was not there when they come. I asked the beachboy and security for help, because due to the painfull situation previous night it was even more difficult and paifull for us. They both approach to the young, rude couple, but they were laughing at them too. Hotel people said they can not do much..?😱..I could go and complain further more at the reception. The rude couple won. It was easier for the hotel employees to retreat, not to go into conflict with these rude couple, than to fight for the right thing, for the values and corporate responsibility GrandPalladium wants to stand for. At least this is in the books and on their web. The beachboy offer to get the booking for comming days on the place for invalides on the beach. For my 15-en old girl.😲 Insensitive! 3- the food is mediocre. Also in restaurants ala-cart. Every day the same. Everything similar taste. Should not be like this in the big resort. We were in Carribian and very low choice of fruits.😐 But desserts are great! At the end hotel even have a face to ask me if I want to become a member. They for sure don’t have a clue what is going wrong in their resorts. Absolutely don’t recommend!

Another excellent vacation at Grand Palladium.

Just returned from the Grand Palladium a couple of days ago, and we need to say that it was yet again what we expected. Trip number 11 to the Palladium, about 20 all together to the Caribbean. This time we stayed for a whole month, and no, it wasn't long enough. Stayed in villa # 35, Mayan Suite. Our room was always taken care of, and I need to mention Valentin's name, who did an excellent job! Bar La Jarra, the three of them: Fernanda, Rodrigo and Bermount; they do an excellent job to serve and please everyone. Bar Colonial lobby, Mario is still doing and excellent job. French Restaurante, our waiter Jose was outstanding. All in all, there is nothing to complain about the Resort. Will we go back again? Yes for sure we will. We tried other resorts, and this one just keeps us to return time and time again. Ps; The CHIC Cabaret is a must, if you have a chance!

These people sure know how to make you feel special!

September 15-29th was our tenth visit to this Palladium, and eleventh Palladium visit in total, needless to say, it's a wonderful place!! This time, Kenia and Edgar greeted us and checked us into our favourite room, 3607, right behind our favourite bar, La Jarra. Kenia and Edgar were such nice people, I hope to see them again next trip! Bar La Jarra seems to have some sort of gravitational pull for us and many others we met while we were there. Fernanda, Rodrigo and new addition Bermont make an excellent, fun team to hang out with, we look forward to seeing them every visit! Being repeat guests since 2008, we were treated to gold VIP bracelets which granted us access to the newly renovated TRS section. The new infinity pool is beautiful, and we ran into an awesome bartender there, Erick, that we had met last year at Puerto Vallarta Palladium, such a great bartender with such flair! We still prefer the original Royal pool for its more personal feel. The Chic show is a must do event, it was really fun and had a ton of talented performers, see separate review. I celebrated my birthday whilst there and thanks to a long time friend and TRS employee, Cristina, making us our reservation, my birthday dinner at La Boheme was so good. We both had the chateaubriand and then the waitstaff brought out a nicely decorated piece of cake complete with a candle and song! Often after dinner, we went to the outdoor TRS bar and were well served by Mayra and new addition Tania. Sorry I drank so many bars dry of Xtabentún, lol! Another long time friend there, Israel Montoya, TRS cart driver extraordinaire, would call our room almost every evening to see if we needed transportation to dinner, what a great guy!! We had a maintenance issue early on in our stay which was taken care of as fast as humanly possible, I didn't expect they could fix it that quickly!! We were happy to run into Filiberto, we didn't think we would now that he has a more office type job. As well, I was glad to learn that Jacinto C had been promoted, he is one of the very first people I met ten years ago as well as a great bar man! Yes, there was some sea weed, but the hotel was doing their very best to fight a losing battle with Mother Nature. The beach is still beautiful and I'd much rather a bit of sea weed than the daily grind at home! Thank you to all of the guys working their butts off trying to keep the beach clear! One day, I was too busy looking at my beautiful surroundings that I wasn't paying attention to where I was walking and ended up stubbing my toe. It really hurt and started to swell and bleed, so after a couple of hours, I asked a lifeguard, Alvin, for a bit of first aid treatment. He did a great job of cleaning and bandaging me up. The next day, I received a phone call to make sure I was okay! One thing I noticed this trip that I hope can be changed... There seems to be a lot less garbage cans around than there were in previous visits, which led to more guests using the ground as their garbage can. Please add some more garbage cans again! Oh, and I love the new pillows! As always, we had a fantastic stay, so much so that quite a few tears were shed on our last day because we had to say our goodbyes to the many people we know and love. Thank you Palladium family for hosting us, it is an honour to be able to visit you. We are constantly asking ourselves what we did to deserve such great treatment!! Rob & Rita (Karen)
