Excellent Vacation and Check Out the Chic Cabaret

We stayed in the Kantenah Resort and Spa from February 21-28th. On purpose I am putting this resport here in the White Sands Resort area so I can give people some extra information about the entire complex. There are three resorts plus an adults only resort located within this whole complex. In addition to White Sands, there is also the GP Colonial Resort and the GP Kantenah Resort. Anyone staying in the these three resorts can use the amenities at all of these resorts however, you do not have access to the adult only TRS Yucatan Hotel (unless you purchase tickets for the Chic Cabaret that is over in the TRS area - more about that later). The food at the resort was excellent. There are two large buffets that are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner in the Kantenah/Colonial area. As well, there is a smaller buffet located over in the White Sands that is open for all 3 meals. There are numerous al la cartes in the three resorts as well and you can go to as many of the al la cartes as you want during your trip. You are not limited to only going three times. Even though you can't make a dinner reservation, if it is busy they do have a pager system in place. Then you can grab a drink while you wait. The staff are wonderful and are very attantive to your needs anywhere you go. We enjoyed the entertainment there and again you can go to any of the three lobbies to enjoy whatever is happening! In particular, we really enjoyed the band Conclasse. They offer a good mix of all kinds of music - Spanish songs, current songs and some 80's tunes as well. They play in the Colonial lobby on Tuesday nights and Saturday nights and they even play on the beach near Las Olas Beach Bar on Sundays during the lunch time Paella on the beach. Check them out if you get a chance! I really want to get to the Chic Cabaret Show that I was writing about earlier. The Chic Cabaret is included for people staying at the adults only area (TRS). If you are staying in the GP Kantenah, Colonial or White Sands you can go to this dinner show but there is a charge. It also gives you a chance to see what the TRS area has to offer (and trust me, it is a really really nice resort). The regular price is $100 USD per person, but currently there is a promotion on for $80 per person. I don't know when this promotion will end, so if you are staying at any of the GP resorts in the near future, you should inquire about this and keep in mind that it does book up quickly. The price includes the pre-show, show and you can stay afterwards and enjoy the TRS area (did I mention premium drinks) until 2 a.m. In my opinion, it's well worth the money! We had a blast! I'll give you a run down of the show and dinner: The evening starts at 7 p.m. with a “pre-show” in the courtyard area of the TRS. While you enjoy drinks and hors d'oeuvres, you can listen to the band. There are also go-go style dancers around, mime-type people dressed up and there even was a mermaid in her bathtub full of martinis! At 8:15 p.m. you can go into the Chic Theatre to get seated and ready for the dinner and show. The dinner was so delicious adn well presented. Even though there are many courses, they are small portions, so don't worry about getting too filled up. The drinks are flowing as well during the show. The non-stop show had singers, dancers and musicians performing right up until 11 p.m. The performers are from all over the world and they are very talented people. There was a bit of something for each age group – some older tunes, 80's tunes and current dance songs! There's not a bad seat in the house and you had to keep your eyes open for performers popping up throughout the audience. I'd go back again because I'm sure there's some things I missed! Once the show is over you can come back out to the courtyard area and enjoy more fancy drinks and the band until 2 a.m. I totally understand that because you are staying in an all inclusive resort, that you may not want to spend extra money while you are there at the resort, but we really loved the show and think it was definitely worth the money. I recommend that you try it if you're staying at any of the three other resorts here. I've attached some photos of the show as well. Sorry I got a bit carried away writing about the Chic Cabaret but we really did enjoy it. Overall we had an excellent vacation and would recommend any of these three resorts in the Grand Palladium complex.

We are going back to this resort for the 3rd time March 31 2018. Last year we upgraded to the water villas and would like to do again this year. Is there a way to book this prior to our arrival? I tried calling and emailing, but no response. Who would I contact about this for availability? We have another couple with us as well that is a returning guest. Thanks,

Another great hotel & holiday in Mexico

Just returned from a lovely holiday at the Hotel Grand Palladium, Colonial resort in Riviera Maya with my husband. Our first trip to this hotel, but fifth time in Mexico. Positive points - lots! Room was well furnished and we got a ground floor room per our email request before we arrived. We had a problem with the shower on our first morning, but this was fixed the same day. Our maid Virginia kept our room spotless and also found my watch which I thought I had last in the resort. The pool was large and clean, sun beds available no matter what time you arrived. Same on the beach and we could always find a hut for shade when needed. The beach is affected by seaweed but the staff continually try to clear it. Brand drinks available at all the bars and we especially enjoyed watching the sunrise on the beach with a glass of champagne. Our favourite bar tender was Alfredo at Colonial pool bar -he had a great smile and kept our glasses constantly topped up. The entertainers worked very hard during the day and the dancers in the evening put on a good energetic show. Unfortunately my husband was unwell during our stay, but luckily there is a doctor on site who spoke very good English & on his recommendation we went to hospital where he was admitted overnight. On returning to the hotel, Antonio on guest relations was very helpful in liaising with the pharmacy to get my husband's medication delivered to the hotel. On returning home to the UK and realising we had lost a receipt, Jennifer on guest relations was also helpful in contacting the pharmacy to get a copy of the receipt - even after our stay, we still received great service. Only negative point for our holiday was the food in the main buffet restaurant. Although the food was tasty, dinner was mostly luke warm, as was breakfast. Instead we opted for the a la cartes for dinner and freshly cooked omelettes for breakfast. We tried a few of the a la cartes and didn't need to book apart from the Japanese which we easily booked for the following evening. The show cooking was amazing, our chef Jose put on such a good show and the food was great, the best of the holiday. Overall great holiday and resort with lovely friendly staff as always in Mexico.

Family trip

My wife, daughter (7 years old), son (4 years old) and I just spent 7 days here. This is a very solid 4 star resort (both my wife and I agree on this having both stayed at multiple, true 5 stars worldwide). The only reason it’s not a 5 star is inconsistent staff attention to detail and the experience. This is prefaced by saying we never had a bad encounter with staff, some went above and beyond as other travelers have mentioned which is awesome. Other staff are just kind of eh, not putting in all that much effort or care. Again, never bad or rude, and our family is as low key as you can get with two little ones. On the safety, security, health concerns of Americans traveling to Mexico. You do not have to worry at all here, it’s very safe, clean and attended to in those areas. This was our first international trip with our children because of those concerns and they went above and beyond when our little guy was sick. A trip to the 24 hour doctor on the 1st afternoon led to a trip to the ER. He had a low grade fever and stomach pain. They arranged an ambulance and at the ER we had an x Ray, IV (slightly dehydrated) and flu swab. End result, constipation from our little guy. The total bill for this, all in, $750 (usd) which included the medication at a pharmacy. The hospital and ER was clean, safe, with an English speaking pediatrician on staff that was awesome (better care than most ERs I have experienced in the states and a lot less expensive). The hotel medical personnel was equally fantastic. The pools are incredible, all of them. We enjoy water, pools or beach and this offers plenty of both, which is great for us. The beach wasn’t ideal during our trip due to some high winds and surf (that led to the seaweed issues, which doesn’t bother us at all). With the size and pool options it was perfect, when the weather was decent for beach weather we hit the beach, but most of our time was spent in the pools. The food was hit or miss, but that is to be expected. We never had a bad meal, some were excellent and some mediocre, but that is more personal preference than quality. The great meals exceeded our expectations and I would think most travelers agree that it’s better than what you read about in revIews. There is a substantial amount of effort from the staff to make that experience enjoyable, with ample selection and opportunitie, the dining experience was always enjoyable. Overall we enjoyed each and every part of the resort. The 4 star rating is only because we have been quite fortunate to experience true 5 star hotels and resorts. If there is one suggestion, please ditch the coupons. We tried to use a few of them and no one wants to take them, it just becomes a source of awkward frustration, the only time there was even a hint of that during our stay.

Open and nice looking resort

This resort is large and spread out so plan on doing a lot of walking. The beach area is quiet but you have to walk down the beach to go into the water. Too rough to use the kayaks. We used the tennis courts daily. Nice courts- racquets and balls were old. There is plenty of activites- sand volleball, badminton, paddle tennis, archery. The food and drink is just mediocre. Breakfast at the Sands resort was much nicer than the Colonial. Try the Japanese Hibachi restaurant for dinner- I thought it was the best of the places I ate. I appreciated the large water balls left in your room each day.
