We went to the Bavaro the last week of October 2016, we usually go someplace warm for our anniversary, and this property looked promising on paper. Well, I'll tell you it only looks good on paper, in real life it's anything but. Arrival, the desk staff was friendly enough, and the bus boy cheerful, we got our keys, and followed him to our room. Open the door, and the room was not made up, plates of old food in the room, and bed not made. The bus boy, told us to wait right there, and ran up to the front desk for a half hour to get us another room, he came back to get us, and brought us to another building to a "made up" room. This one was at least done by the maids, except when you pulled the blankets down on the bed, there were dried sex stains on the sheets. The room itself was generally run down, but in decent shape. Next the food, well the buffet while being plentiful, was bland, and unimaginative, not enjoyable at all. So we next tried getting into the A la-carte restaurants, after a 2 1/2 hour wait to get in, and having to threaten the maitre'd with walking out, we finally got seated, placed our orders, and proceeded to wait 45 minutes for our food to come out, by this time, I was ready to eat the table cloth! Well I should have, the food was terrible, we were in the Italian restaurant, and having been to Italy, expected a certain level of what the food should be. Well it was sloppily plated, and over cooked. My meal was obviously prepared ahead of time and kept under a warming light, my wife's(pasta) the pasta was severely under cooked to the point of being crunchy, and the sauce had the tinny taste of having come out of a can. I can say this, the hotel had cable television with several English channels which was nice, except when something went wrong and we lost most of the channels, this took 3 days to get someone up to the room to fix. Really, this was one of the least enjoyable hotels I've ever been to. Don't go here if you can help it.

Attended here for a week a few weeks ago. I must say I was left astounded. Now I have travelled to many, many place all over the world but the Dominican Republic and it's people have to be some of the friendliest, warming people I am yet to meet The Grand Palladium Bavaro is a HUGE resort and something which I would never go for as I tend to stick to smaller hotels so as not to get children or riff raff. Awful I know but true. This hotel broke the mould. It was fantastic. The pools, the bars, the entertainment, the food. All top notch. The beach was also gorgeous with lovely rolling waves. We tended to use the buffet restaurant for breakfast then the a la carte restaurants in the evening. The Chinese restaurant was delicious and all the food full of flavour. The steakhouse was great too. The steaks cooked to perfection will brilliant service and decor The best restaurant we went to in my opinion was the Japanese teppanyaki. As soon as you enter it's like you are part of a show. Very interactive and amazing atmosphere. The quality of food for such a huge resort astounded me. The sports bar was also good as it's 24 hours and have food at all times. The decor and atmosphere was very authentic to an American sports bar. The lobby bars are very grand and nice to have pre drinks before heading out to other places around the hotel. My only two issues would be that the language barrier between staff and guests could sometimes cause an issue. Feel a little ignorant saying that as we aren't in the UK but that is the predominant language that guests speak. That aside, it was not a major. The other was the first room that my parents were put in was a health hazard. It smelt of damp and mould as soon as you walked in. They didn't want to make a fuss so stopped in it for the first night. When one of them woke to go to the toilet in the night, they fell over as the floor had literally flooded because of bad air conditioning etc. They were. Moved to the room next to us which looked like an upgrade so it was resolved The hotel put on buses/golf carts to get around the hotel as it is easy to get lost especially at night. I wish we had stopped for longer than a week. All the more reason to come back very soon.

The service was great all around especially Gilberto and Gisela that work at La Parilla they did an exceptional job of tending to our needs. All the bartenders where great and the pools where very good for small children because they weren't very deep. The worse part of the trip was the sports bar, the service was not very good. Overall though great trip and I recommend this resort to anyone.

My husband and I went to Punta Cana November 2016 for our anniversary. We stayed at the Bavaro Suites. We paid for a romance suite which included a jacuzzi, mayan shower and hammock. We did not have hot water for 3 days. I complained about this from the moment we got there until our last night at the resort. On our last night our room was then upgraded to the Royal Suites. I talked to manager after manager. No one kept a record of my complaints. It was like they were trying to cover it up.

Food is subpar. Cant even find a bowl of salsa. Train system a joke. Waited 40 mins for the resort shuttle train and it never showed up, just walked through the rain to our reservation. Concierge service refuses to help, you need to book your own a la cartes but cant use the app they make you download cause it crashes every 3 seconds. Wait at lobby bar for service ridiculous. Walk right past you even if you tip, which by the way doesn't help you get better service. Way to many ignorant Europeans here! Staff does not smile or acknowledge politeness. Overpriced and very underwhelming for high costs. Not worth it!
