Spacious resort for a great vacation

This resort was utterly amazing and definitely worth the stay. We stayed for 6 nights and the weather was beautiful for all 7 days, the people who worked there were wonderfully helpful and friendly, and the grounds were outstanding. The room we stayed in had a little living room connected to the bedroom and a very nice spacious bathroom with a balcony. There are several pools around the resort with swim up bars and everything seems to be centrally located so where ever you are staying in the resort you always have a pool, beach, and at least one restaurant near you. The carts/train that goes around helps to get you around and are very useful in the evening when going out to dinner but in the day its an easy walk to almost anywhere. Although it wasn't helpful to me personally, there seems to be a lot of activities for kids including kid pools, a kid playground, and activities set up to entertain kids during the days. The sports center is amazing with many different activities to choose from including tennis, table tennis, volleyball, soccer, basketball, and archery all of which has equipment included. On the beach they have windsurfing and kayaks available for use (note that unless you are an experienced windsurfer you will have to pay for a lesson). The reason I didn't give the resort a full 5 is because I wasn't particularly impressed with the food. Some restaurants were amazing while others left a lot to be desired. I don't really go for the food and so to me the resort was amazing but if you are a big food lover and thats part of the reason you are going it might be worth doing some research into resorts for your stay. Overall I would say this is a great resort to stay in whether your going as a couple, friends, or family. There are a lot of activities and things to do where you can relax all you want but never get bored if your that always on the go person. Those vacationing with kids will be impressed with the activities the kids can be a part of and would be a great experience for everyone overall. More>

Overpriced and not a five star

We were at this resort for 2 weeks in Jan/16. Flight - Sunwing we paid $100 each for Elite plus. Get to check luggage first and get legroom seating. Paid off when coming home at Punta Cana airport which was very busy and chaotic. Stopped at Cuba on way home which was annoying. They sprayed something on the plane for bugs from Cuba? Weird! Airport - very busy and annoying. Upon arrival you lineup to pay $10 American to get into the country. They will not accept credit card or Dominican pesos. It is not made clear what the $10 is for. When you leave in the Sunwing line we had to pay $20 to leave the country( no receipt or explanation). No bridge to planes so you take a bus to plane. Annoying. Checkin - smooth and quick with no problems. Room - we upgraded but probably not worth the cost. Room was clean and spacious with small deck on second level. Housekeeping was good and drinks replaced each day. ( we tipped each day). Good choice on TV although we did not watch much. The bedding and mattress comfort were substandard . I expect more from a 'five star'. Food - buffets were good and consistent. Big problem with ala cartes. You have to line up for 6 pm and if it fills up before you get to the front you must wait 90-120 min. Most AI's I have gone to have some kind of reservation system. Big problem for me. It is enough for me to not return Pools - they were fine except no entertainment at all. My wife likes water aerobics but you had to go to the beach. No good music - just Dominican. I say a variety would be better. Bars - below average. No blenders so no fresh drinks. To get anything special like a coffee drink or a better quality liquor there was one bar that served. It was a nice place to go for a night cap. Resort overall is clean and well taken care of. Lots of walking unless you want to take rides on shuttle or train. Check out - When you check in you get $50 coupon for your bill you can use for anything you might charge. The only thing I got was a few bottles of wine because the resort wine was undrinkable. There was also a coupon book with a $10 off a bottle of wine. When I checked out I was informed you could not use both coupons. Nothing on the coupons and no one ever said anything until checkout. Scam! Weather was perfect for 2 weeks but I will never go back to Dominican but if I did I would pick a different resort. More>

We stayed with a large wedding group at this resort, some at Palladium Bavaro and most at Palladium Punta Cana. Personally I preferred the Bavaro side as it was quiet, buildings and rooms were very nice. There was some building maintenance being done at the Punta Cana side (building 2000) and the pool there was drained for about 5 days. Staff was for the most part very nice and beach is awesome! The pools are clean and a whomever is in charge of the grounds/trees maintenance is doing a great job, everything is up to date and the workers are always out there cleaning up. Food is pretty good and lots of variety. Not too impressed with the waiting lines at the specialty restaurants and one bad experience at the steak house as we saw that if you tip the hostess, you can get in quick. When we got in, the restaurant was half empty and yet there was a line outside. Apparently they were waiting for tips first. We only got in after waiting for an hour after complaining about tipping and were seated right away. Not acceptable at an all inclusive especially when you have seats available and still people have to wait outside. Room was great, lots of beach and pool chairs available. We had a wonderful time! One point, if you drink tea with your breakfast, bring your own. The tea was pretty weak and also we had to wait too often for coffee and tea to be served. They should have a self help coffee/tea area to speed this up. The wedding was lovey and well planned, great location for special events. More>

I love the beach and the rides on the little trains in the evenings The guy in the gym was brilliant in terms of helping and friendliness The person in-charge at the Spa was incredibly professional and very well mannered and the girls who provided us with full body massages were absolutely brilliant ! thank you very much guys We didn't like the food. it seemed somewhat recycled everyday. The best food was served on the Dominican Night where everything was fresh and different. Also on the beach i found white giftshop, 5min walking right on the beach, they have really cheap souvenirs and awesome offers I didn't like the fact that we were placed in a room with separate beds (couple on holidays!!! should not have separate beds unless requested) In the end we were changed to a room with a single bed and were told that it was going to be a better superior room for the inconvenience they put us through, but really it was the same exact room with the difference of having one bed rather than two. This was our fourth stay at this hotel and our last too! More>

My wife and I stayed at this resort starting the 24 January to the 3rd of February. We highly recommend it to anyone who likes the all inclusive resort experience. The property is clean and well maintained. the landscaping is lovely. The clients are are a good mix of young and old. The staff are very friendly and happy The food at the buffets is not 5 star quality but I compare it to good home style fare, definitely 4 star quality. For the restaurants we tried the Spanish, Japanese, Brazilian and the steakhouse, no waiting in line ups for us cause we upgraded through out travel agent to include 4 reservations for the restaurants. We did not try the Italian resto because we read some reviews which said it was not that good. The animation staff at the beach and pools were super! High mentions for Margarita, Carolina, Mikel, Bizcochio and of course Alex. Of course you have access to all the the resorts on this property, we enjoyed all the lobbies but our favorite was the Bavaro lobby. They have two theaters with decent entertainment, great dancers! We were in room 1711 in the 1700 villa right on the Bavaro and Punta Cana resort edge so we enjoyed the Punta Cana side as well as the Bavaro resort. The rooms were big and quite modern. Yes the vendors on the property can be a nuisance but a polite no thank you and they will leave you be. Yes there are many young children but they mostly go to the kids play area and pool and they are in bed early so you don't really see them much except at the buffets. Over all a great experience!
