Let me start by saying that prior to our arrival to Grand Oasis, I was a bit nervous due to some reviews. Once we arrived and were settled into our room,we realized that the only rooms with an outdoor space were on the ground floor. We were fortunate to have one of these rooms. The rooms are very spacious and clean, a huge downside to the rooms is that the walls are paper thin, so you can hear everything in the other rooms. This is a very small resort, so if you are used to the giant ones in Playa Del Carmen, this one is not like those. To start you are NOT bothered by a "concierge" trying to sell you a timeshare every time you walk by the lobby(this was very pleasant as this is one of my pet-peeves staying at a big resort). The hotel has a large pool in the "family" area, that connects to the amazing kids pool. Both pools are very clean and even at the busiest times, you will find a place to lay down your towels. The kids club is ran by two amazing people: Cesar and Karen. They are so loving, caring and responsible; they truly go out of their way to learn about what your child likes/dislikes. The beach is a close walk to the rooms regardless of where yours is. This is by far one of the best hotel beaches we have been to here in Mexico (we have been coming to the Riviera Maya for about ten years), its super clean, there are locals cleaning up the seaweed each morning, the water is incredibly clear and great for snorkeling even with young children, plenty of lounge chairs, free kayaks, SUP, masks and snorkles rentals (up to 30 min). The beach bar is a few steps away, the barman (Fernando) is incredibly friendly and always greeting you with a smile. By this bar, there is the Terrace, you can have lunch or an afternoon snack. Here you'll find another amazing human being: Raul. He was our waiter during lunch time, nicest of guys!!! One of the things that were mentioned other reviews had to do with their restaurants. Coming form NYC we don't really care about going to a resort to have a fancy dinner at one of these restaurants. We honestly go to Mexico to have real Mexican food, and at their buffet Arrecifes you will find a plethora of delicious food (Mexican, along with some of your "American staples" in case your kid only eats chicken fingers, pasta, fries, or burgers). Once again, the staff is very friendly and accommodating. You should try to arrive early-ish, as it gets very busy the later you go. We did try the Italian restaurant once, we did not have a reservation and were able to be seated (we went at 7:30pm) the food was very good. Their coffee place makes a mean espresso as well as other "starbucksy" drinks if you prefer those. We though this place is perfect for families, easy access to beach and pools, very laid back atmosphere, very kid friendly, and what I value most, is the staff. I cannot rave enough about the people who work here. They make your stay an absolutely beautiful experience. I know there is an adults-only part in this hotel which has one exclusive pool and perhaps other restaurants (?) but I can't comment on those. The only reason I am not giving five points to Grand Oasis, is because of the thin walls in the rooms. But that's just me. I'm a very light sleeper. I can't wait to go back :)

Poor-man All Inclusive with Unfriendly Front Desk

Poor-man All Inclusive with Unfriendly Front Desk After arrival there was no room for us (hotel lost its own confirmation), and we waited for the beds for children till 10:20 PM. Next day (after travel agency’s intervention) we had to survive without a new room until 3:30 PM. The entire facility is very modest, especially compared to other all inclusive hotels which look like palaces, this one is like an old Holiday Inn. Your room will be cleaned around 5 PM. Dirty glass doors are never cleaned. No glamour, no gardens, no pretty lobbies - just basics. However, there is an excellent food in a buffet, and in White Box and Cocoa restaurants. Waiters in the buffet and bar (exceptionally friendly Noela) are efficient. There is one competent and friendly concierge - Miss Allende. Entertainment - practically zero (they don’t even keep books left by guests), excursions - expensive, beach - they try their best removing see weeds.

First time not happy in Mexico

This was my 17th visit to Mexico. I love the culture, the people and the hospitality. I have written HAPPY reviews every time.. This resort was definitely NOT my favorite. Upon checking in, we were told we were getting a free upgrade to Sian Kahn..how nice..we have never been given a free upgrade (and we didn't even ask for it).. while walking to our room with the bellman, a woman stopped me and asked how long was our visit going to be..I told her a week, her response was "good luck"..oops, I am nervous now..get to the room, looks pretty, try to open the lights for the bellman, no lights which means no A/C, no running water, no flushing toilet..Bellman tells me they have been having problems with this building.. Go down to the check in desk to explain the above, lady gets her female supervisor (who comes out with her hands on her hips) not nice..proceeds to tell me things will be fixed in 3-4 hours..offers me free wiFi, thank you. We then go down to the buffet, we are there 15 minutes and the power goes out..Yikes..fixed in an hour.. Pool was nice, but not clean. Beach was beautiful, great snorkling..but the beach area had dirty cups and dishes..saw liter throughout the resort..have never experienced this in any other resort..Never had a waiter come up to us at the pool or the beach to offer drinks..and remember, we were in Sian Kahn with the free upgrade! The spa was wonderful, cleanest part of the resort! Mexican restaurant was good, excellent Rib Eye steak and Mariachi entertainment..Dos Lunas was terrible..their salad bar was full of flies..they advertise 9 restaurants but do not tell you they are all not open every night..I enjoyed Coffee & Me.. I believe this resort could be amazing with the right management..there was no attention paid to the restaurants, the cleanliness or the staff, who spoke very little English.. Too bad Grand Oasis..you are certainly no Sandos Playacar where I will return again.

Worst nightmare ever !!!

This resort was advertised as a four star luxury resort but it is far from that. The property was filthy, from toilet tissue and paper towels overflowing lobby bathrooms that were also out of paper in the stalls, to mildew spotted curtains and moldy spots on walls. The staff was overwhelmed with guests bringing complaints of no hot water in the room, no electricity in another room, dissatisfaction with rooms and requests for room changes...and all that I heard just while bringing my own concerns to management in the lobby! The beach was very dirty with trash, used towels were strewn all over beach furniture in the morning and dirty dishes and glasses piled up on beach and pool tables. The pool was dirty and the hot tubs looked half filled and inoperable. We left the resort after one day there and found a wonderful place nearby.
