Look for another All Inclusive!

We had a very bad experience with this hotel. The place was outdated, the service terrible and the food of very mediocre quality. The only thing good was the sushi and the ceviches. The hotel was definitely understaffed. They claimed it was due to low season but the poor workers were exhausted since they have to cover multiple restaurants and shifts. Despite this, most of the staff was always trying to be courteous. The hotel reflected very bad management. Half of the restaurants were closed and in the ones that were opened, the wait time really long. I traveled with my extended family (12 of us) and we were all very disappointed. We've been in all inclusive hotels in Mexico before and had a wonderful experience. We were expecting something similar but this was terrible. I would definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone. Look further, for the same price you can get a much better stay.

Dump !

Place is a dump... We stayed on the older side..balcony seemed unsafe to stand on.. everything in the room was so dated.. stunk like mould.. Could have stayed on the new side but doesn’t have any balcony’s Have to go down to the restaurant to make your reservations and stand in line can’t call up ..I’ve been on many vacations in the carribean and this place is aholes the infinity pool is like taking an ice bath.. nobody could even sit at the pool bar.. you would freeze in seconds ... go down the beach and stay at the Bahia Principe.. better choice

Wish I was still there!!

Cruises have been my favorite way to travel since I was 12 years old, but I had never stayed at an all-inclusive resort until last week. Grand Oasis Tulum has me rethinking things. While it was obviously a slow time of year for the resort, it made for a more personal experience. We were able to get to know the staff better and they knew us. Raul in Dos Lunas was always happy to see us, and called us both "Rachel" (the name of my friend). Karen was our best friend for the week, even though she spoke about as much English as we spoke Spanish (muy poquito), but we had fun teaching each other words in each others language. We had a great time doing yoga, pilates, water aerobics, snorkeling, and dancing with her. Moises is amazing and deserves 6 stars, he is very good at his job and deserves to be in front of a bigger audience where more people can appreciate his talent. I was always impressed at the way he could move so fluidly between Spanish and English while he was up on stage at the shows. He also is a great dance and snorkeling instructor, I've never been successful with snorkeling until he taught me how with his near-perfect English. Both Karen and Moises remembered my birthday, even though we had mentioned it several days earlier, and DJ Shaggy kept the dance party going longer for my birthday as well. I loved the shows at night, especially the Aero Circus!! It was absolutely beautiful and brought me to tears. I felt incredibly honored to be in the presence of such talent. The International Divas were amazing as well, both times we saw them. The food was amazing, and I was sure I was going to gain so much weight while I was there, but I was active enough that I came home 5 pounds lighter!! We got a free upgrade to Sian Ka'an and it was lovely. We had a few issues with our room, but as soon as we notified them about them, they fixed them right away. We also took advantage of the spa and had massages out on the palapa (a word I learned from Moises, hopefully I remembered it correctly) at the end of the pier. That was the most amazing day ever!! I would definitely love to come back with my kids, they would love it there!

Great All Inclusive Resort if you upgrade

You must do at least upgrade to the second highest level to truly enjoy this resort. We did and had a great time. The kids camp is wonderful--lots of activities for the kiddos to do, the food is very good--especially the complimentary sushi bar each day. The buffet is fine, but you really do need to stand in line for reservations at the better restaurants which is slightly annoying but not awful. The shows were hilarious and fun each night and the staff really tried to get you involved in the daily fun activities. Rooms were clean and staff was very helpful. The spa is lovely and the folks at the who run the scuba diving trips are second to none. All in all a great place to stay while in Tulum. Late in reviewing stayed in April of 2017 but was not able to select that time period below.

A great all inclusive for a family.

We almost decided not go to to this hotel based on reviews. We were glad we did. Our room was clean and well maintained. The air conditioner worked perfectly and the beds were comfortable. We did not see any insects in our room. We stayed in the beach front, ocean view rooms. There are coconut trees planted between the building and the sea, so be prepared to not have a perfect view, but it's very tropical feeling. The beach was nice with plenty of seating and nice sand. There was a lot of seaweed that was being pushed onto the beach from the ocean currents but it was out of the hotels control. They did have guys removing the seaweed. We walked down to the Grand Principe hotel and they had tractors moving the seaweed around. I was thankful that this hotel did not have any noisy, smelly tractors cleaning the beaches daily while we enjoyed the beach. I also felt our hotels beach was nicer and more natural than the Grand Principe beach. Snorkeling is very good for water off a resort hotel. The water was clear and we saw many different types of fish, even close to shore. Our 8 and 4 year old were able to enjoy the waters. There is a reef which helps keep the current and waves calm. The pools were enjoyable. There is a dedicated kids pool with kids activities and a kids swim up bar which the kids did enjoy. There is a separate adults swim up bar at a separate adjoining pool. Both pools are in the garden area. There is a pool by the beach which is nice as well as two hot tubs by the beach. The hot tubs were taken over by kids daily, which was never a problem for us. There were plenty of choices for restaurants. The service in the restaurants was very slow, so plan on being seated for at least an hour from start to finish. Try to eat before the nightly show finishes. It seems that many people choose to eat after the show and you will be waiting a while to get seated. We would plan on arriving to the restaurants by 645 to have enough time to eat before the 8:00 show. Even though the restaurants are slow, the servers are all very nice. When all other restaurants are busy at dinner time, try the one at the basic oasis building, a short golf cart ride away called bites. The food was just as good and it wasn't busy. We enjoyed the sushi place by the beach for lunches. The buffet has plenty of choices to choose from. The shows were entertaining and two nights a week they have a party out by the sea. There is an adults only part to this resort, The Sian Ka'an and kids can not go to, its very quiet and relaxing. Grand Oasis wristbands also can not go there. They serve better, more natural drinks. The mixed drinks at the Grand Oasis are good but all made from syrups. Grand Oasis wristbands can go to one or two of the Sian Ka'an's restaurants. I'm not sure where people are staying with the terrible reviews of this hotel. We saw some terrible pictures, but our room was clean and comfortable. We had fun interacting with families from all over during our stay and would recommend this place based on our experience. We had only one interaction with a grumpy staff member, one lady at the front desk. This is not a high end all inclusive resort, so if your used to a luxurious hotel with premium drinks and fast service, you may want to consider another place. If you want a nice, laid back resort with a nice snorkeling beach, definitely consider this place.
