Beware of the Grand Oasis Sens Cancun
BRADLEY A.
Jun 06 2018
I stayed at the Grand Oasis Sens in Cancun at the end of May 2018. I have been to Mexico countless times. This was by far one of the worst experiences on a vacation. I will preface this with a compliment to Apple Vacations. I have used them multiple times, and they are always great. Now back to the issues at hand. I booked the room and the upgrade so we were supposedly Sein Kahn (VIP). We had a rather easy check in, but the staff was not very courteous. The lack of courtesy and assistance continued through the week. Sometimes the staff was down right rude and argumentative when asked about food options. Our room was basic, and sort of run down. Some of the features in the room did not work. The fridge, the pool on the patio, the A/C, the safe. Trying to get any of that repaired was a part time job on vacation. The room flooded twice while we were there, and ruined some of my wifes clothes, and mine as well. The management did not seem to be concerned, and would not change rooms for us, or find a suitable replacement room at a sister property. The bar staff was understaffed, and apparently don't like their jobs very well. I always tip, generously, however that did not warm them up for better service. Overall, this hotel was a S**tshow. A very expensive vacation was spent arguing with management, and trying to just keep basic clean sleeping conditions. Oh yeah, I had some of my electronics stolen from my rom also. That was just icing on the cake. I would not recommend this place to anyone, not even as a joke to someone I don't like. The only recommendation I can ive for this resort is for demolition, and start over. Something has gone wrong here, and it is a real shame. The potential for great times is there, but the resort makes it difficult to enjoy.

On our first day we were stuck in the elevator for 35 minutes, between floors. the hotel employees finally got us out, did not say anything to us, just acted as if it was normal. we then spoke to the Apple representative who really did not care either. we advised him that we were not happy with the hotel and were very upset about being stuck in the elevator. He said we had options, but did not know what they were. he never got back up with us or did anyone from the hotel. We have been using Apple Vacation for 20 years, but this will be our last time.

My experience at Oasis Sens was nothing but positive. Special thanks to Tito and the day shift bartender who made the experience even better. My only complaint was about the night shift front lobby worker. I will definitely return.

Very nice hotel. As other reviews have said the AC in the room was very weak. But you arent there to hangout in the room. Resort was nice for the price we paid. I think I would try another option if we went back to Cancun.

This was a terrifying experience and I would never recommend this place to anyone. Apple should not put their name behind this place. My fianc and I among numerous other things have submitted a criminal report at the resort and we are in the process of making one with Apple. DONT STAY AT THAT RESORT

The hotel was good for what we paid for. We normaly go to a 5 star but this was a quick get away. If you have never been to an all inclusive before people would probably love it. Our room had a good view. The living area was nice. The bathroom had bad lighting and the light on the wall fell off. The water didnt work at all the last day. The service at the restaurants was slow but the food was pretty good. The pool was nice but cold. The beach was great. The bars were very nice. The entertainment was good. All in all we had a nice time and it was a good place if you want to go somewhere decent and warm weather

The A/C on our first night there did not work. We went with a group of 16 people all booked through Apple and only about 1/2 of us had A/C the first night. We went down to the counter to see if we could have someone check it out and they said they would send someone but never did. The next morning we got with Daniel, the onsite person for Apple, and he helped get us in a new room. We had to surrender our current room that morning and could not be put in another room until 1500 so we went most of the day without a room. We had to pack up all our bags and check them in up front. The room they put us in was a lot better and the A/C worked as well as you would expect in such a hot climate. We ended up going to Wal-Mart and getting a fan. Our fridge was only restocked once in our six night stay event though we paid for the Grand Plus package. Be prepared for a lot of nudity. I knew that this place had a tops optional pool but I didn't expect people to be fully nude at every pool on site. There was no getting away from it. Also the pool level was low enough that it was not running through the filters and the water was nasty. There was a oil slick on top of the water and if you sat in the pool for any time at all a layer of scum would build up around you. The buffet was nothing special but probably what I expected for a buffet. The restaurants that you have to have reservations for were awesome. My wife and I booked a trip to XEL-HA through Daniel at Apple and again he was very helpful. It would be nice if Apple Vacations would market this resort for what it is. If all you want to do is get drunk and party then this place is probably ok. I don't think it matters how hot a room is if you pass out in it!

We were extremely disappointed with Grand Oasis Sens. The food quality was poor, the rooms and main areas of the resort didn't have air conditioning, and the swimming pools had debris floating in them.

Just about to leave to go home and we have mixed reviews of this hotel, the pool and beach areas were great as was the food throughout the hotel (apart from maria bonita very bland) the cocktails at the hotel are poor no flavour at all in any that we tried and there is no menu to choose from so we just had to wing it and guess.our hotel room was cleaned well every day but constantly smelt damp and the bathroom ceiling was black with damp , also the aircon leaked when turned on so we had to put towells down when we had it on . The kinky nightclub was atroicious no entertainment whatsoever , that being said we enjoyed our time in cancun and the staff were all very friendly, adios amigos 😎

wonderful staff - very accommodating - especially at the reception - gerardo was awesome this was my second visit... i preferred the various restaurant aspects from 2016 more than the fewer ones plus buffet of 2018 - but the food overall was good.

General hotel issues: - The pool closes at 8pm. We were so disappointed. You can only sit on the beach if you upgrade to VIP (not ok). We couldn’t get into the beach water our entire stay because they had red flagged the beach. Spoke with a couple at another hotel and they said they could get in the ocean. I think they don’t want to pay a life guard. - There was no AC in the hallways so as soon as you leave your room, it's hot as the outdoors. - The hallways were dimly light and dank. There is poor air circulation, and because the various hotel room tiers are not connected at the same level, it felt claustrophobic. - We had the all-inclusive but not much was included. One type of white wine (chardonnay). - The lounge chairs by the pools all had mildew. This resort has a mildew and air conditioning issue. The air conditioner leaks from the ceiling everywhere you go. - The rooms are outdated and has a musty mildew smell. -horrible smell in the main lobby area smells burnt, moldy, and like a dirty bathroom -outside bars close around 7/8pm -if you lose your wrist band it's an automatic charge of $150 USD Restaurant issues: - We did not have access to many restaurants because they were considered premium restaurants; our dining options were limited. - Many of the hotel staff did not speak English or understand basic questions such as "corn or flour tortilla," which we think is a pretty standard question. - Menus were hard to come by, and the bartenders couldn't explain what was or was not included as part of the drinks in our all-inclusive package. - The food was terrible. All of the restaurants at this resort were those fast-in/fast-out places with very little character, charm, appeal, and staff attention. -drinks are watered down

Not so great!

We stayed here in June 2018. Hotel is very outdated. We upgraded to a room with a plunge pool on the 7th floor. The view was amazing but that’s about it. As other reviewers stated, there is mold all over the rooms (hubby still sick from that)! The bottom of the tub feels like your going to fall through it, the sewer drain is right in the middle of the floor and the partial glass shower door doesn’t stop the water from getting all over. It rained everyday and everyday our room flooded, yes flooded! About 2inches deep and 3 feet out from the slider door. The ceiling started to have huge water spots on it, thought it was going to crash down on us. We did like the pools however they don’t always open the pool bar. The two restaurants ( Mexican food and pizza place by the pool)we ate at were good as was the breakfast buffet. Each time we tried to get beer in our mini fridge they would only bring Heineken even though we specifically asked anything else but Heineken . We ended up taking a taxi into town and bought our own beer that we liked (Coors light & Corona) and stocked our own fridge! The VIP bar was ok due to the bartender (can’t remember his name, sorry). All the staff were very friendly. We would not stay here again due to all the mold in the room.
