Hotel was ok, the combination of two hotels with small pool areas and small restaurants is not great. It would have been a great vacation except for a few things. As I stated the restaurants were small and you had to weight in line to be seated. Couldn't get a reservation at one of the restaurants because they only took reservations at 4:00 pm. And within 5 minutes the capacity was taken. They elevators wee horrible and you had to wait it seemed like hours for the elevator. Took the stairs from the room most of the time. I loved our trip to Cancun but would definitely stay at an different hotel. Room and view were amazing. They also did not have balconies

They ruined our wedding!!
NATHANIEL G.

Our wedding was a complete nightmare. We visit MX every year and this was by far the worst travel experience in my life. 2 day’s into our trip I realized we were not receiving certain perks that we had purchased with our $2,300 US Dollar wedding package (Not including the thousands spent on air fare and hotel). We spoke to concierge and were told that the wedding department never informed the resort of our wedding (2 days before our wedding). Most of the 33 items listed in our wedding package did not exist or simply didn’t happen. We were totally bait and switched upon arrival. We were treated TERRIBLE by the staff. No one would allow us to speak to a manager the entire stay. The room was small and smelled of mildew. I chose this resort because it was “family friendly” for the flower girl. We all left vomiting for days with a terrible viral stomach infection. Wedding Package: · AUTO Smart for the wedding.* · VIP Bracelet for wedding couple. DOES NOT EXIST · Private VIP Check-in for wedding couple. DID NOT GET · Room Upgrade.* DOES NOT EXIST · Welcome cocktail during check in. DID NOT GET · Wedding Romance Concierge. DOES NOT EXIST · Internet Code - wedding couple. (EVERY GUEST GET’S) · Nuptial Suite (room + make up room).* DOES NOT EXIST · VIP Amenities in wedding couple’s room. DID NOT GET · Late Check-out at 4 pm.* · Turndown service. GOT ONCE OUT OF 6 NIGHTS · Professional services by a Wedding Planner. TERRIBLE SERVICE · Rehearsal semi private dinner in specialty restaurant for 2 hours with set menu for 20 SALMON WAS RAW · Rehearsal ceremony for bridal party. DID NOT GET · Special tasting of wedding dinner menu – 2 persons (must arrive 4 days before the wedding date). DID NOT GET · 20% discount on Spa treatments for the wedding couple. · Judges or Minister Fees included. · Special Wedding location on terrace or beach. DEMANDED TO SWITCH TO PIER DUE TO 0 PRIVACY ON BEACH · Exclusive décor with our O Wedding special arch & set up in white. · Bridal bouquet and Groom’s boutonniere (tropical local flowers). · Special floral centerpiece on the Bridal table (tropical local flowers). · Sound equipment with ambiance music and microphone during ceremony. · Celebration toast after the ceremony with · Domestic Sparkling Wine - maximum 4 bottles. · Semi private dinner in specialty restaurant with set menu and 2 hours of open domestic bar. · Wedding cake. The hotel was OK. Food was only fair. While at the beach or pool, was hard to find a server to take our drink orders. The staff was not as friendly as I would have hoped. I would probably not go back to this hotel in the future. Was OK for the price.

Telemarketers at the lobby
REONILE N.

Telemarketers at the lobby pretend to be hotel concierge and their uniforms doesn't say the hotels name. They offer hotel free packages but the truth it's a timeshare presentation. They keep on asking us every morning at the lobby and it's very annoying. They are like those telemarketers at Cancun airport.

Only complaint is the elevator. Its so small and can only fit four people. It stops at almost every floor. So you have to wait another 5-10 mins for the next one.

We were pretty disappointed in this resort. It seemed like the very basic stuff was included and if you wanted anything extra it was for more money. The beach sucked. IT was only .5 miles long and from the edge of the resort to the water edge was about 150 feet. The food was okay there just wasn't enough of it. We were always hungry. The rooms were so noisy that we didn't sleep for the 4 nights we were there. Our concierge was very uninformed about what was and wasn't offered as part of the all inclusive package. We will never go back to this resort.

I'm a bit surprised Apple Vacations would offer this hotel. There are 2 very small elevators of which 1 was constantly broke. 2 small womens restroom stalls near the pool, always out of toilet paper or hand wipes. Long lines for snack bar and drinks, frequently out of towels. Electricity went out for 1.75 hours Sunday night, room got very hot and stuffy. The recessed light in the shower fell out of the ceiling while I was in the shower, no caps on electrical joints. Will not return to this resort.

We arrived to Grand Oasis Palm in a evening and had been denied to be excepted, because, according to the manager, Apple Vacation canceled our reservation. He told us that we can leave or he can move us to other hotel. We booked this hotel with a purpose to celebrate Christmas with our grand kids in a area of calm ocean and kids friendly environment. We had no opportunity but to be moved to Grand Oasis Cancun. The hotel was fine, but the ocean was very rough and we were not able even to get close to the ocean. The next morning we visited the Apple Vacation representative Eric Monpain. In our 20 years of traveling we never met anybody more helpful than him. He spend two days in a phone trying to get us back to Grand Oasis Palm overcoming the resistance of the management of the hotel. They insisted that it was Apple Vacation fault not theirs. Eventually, they let us to come back after we wasted almost 3 days of our 7 days vacation. We would like this incident to be investigated by Apple Vacation and if it is really Apple Vacation fault, we need to be compensated for the lost time. We would like to recognize Eric Monpain for his exceptional professionalism and dedication. He is the one who let us enjoy the rest of our vacation.

While the hotel had wonderful rooms, the food was sub-par. The service at the bars were great. The beach was very crowded and the pool was small. There were only 2 elevators and it caused an issue anytime we wanted to leave or return to our rooms.

Good but not great

The resort was clean and our room was nice. We were surprised that there were no balconies though, only a window that could be opened. The food was good but we didn't like having to wait in line to get a table for the buffet. The E la Cart could not be booked until the day you wanted to go and we had to wait in line at a specific time to book those with no guarantee that we would get a time. Pools were big and we didn't have any trouble getting loungers each day. The beach was beautiful. There were not enough elevators for the size of the resort and they were easily over loaded. We actually changed to a lower floor so that we could take the stairs. The staff were very accomodating.

Never again

The safe in the room has no lock. You can rent one for $8 per day. The a/c unit drain clogged and when returning from dinner on day one I felt like Jesus walking on water. Took one hour and multiple phone calls to get someone up to fix. There was large ring of mold around the top of sink. Still not adequately cleaned. Guess they don’t have bleach here. Toilet runs/refills itself every five minutes. Guess flapper no good. The tv remote didn’t work. Towels used to mop up water by housekeeping just thrown in corner. Why weren’t they removed and replaced with fresh ones at time of cleanup? Front desk disabled our room key access cards after 3 days of a 6 day trip and said they had expired. WTF?? Spent another 30 minutes going up/down to get them operational.

A vacation spent waiting in line

Basically if you like waiting in line (for anything and everything) then stay here. I read the reviews before I booked but thought, how bad can it be? Well it's bad. Long line ups for EVERYTHING. As other reviews state the resort is grossly under staffed. The beach drink bar had ONE bartender serving drinks, so the line up was always 15 people deep. If you wanted to dine at an a la carte restaurant, be prepared to line up for 45 mins. Then the nights I did not feel like lining up on vacation, the line ups at the buffet were ridiculous as well. The hotel management always replies to reviews stating the same lame copy/paste message "your concerns are heard..." but they're not. One review stated the food at the buffets is high school cafeteria quality, and that is very accurate. And even my daughter (10) commented how the food at the buffet was "soggy". And I've never had to pay extra for a safe in my room. What a scam, how cheap on the hotel's part. That truly offended me, paying for a key to keep our passports and money safe. The hotel should be embarrassed by that policy. My advice, pay a little more and stay somewhere else. This hotel was VERY crowded, I felt like I was at a shopping mall on Black Friday, all week long. The beach area and pools are also very small compared to the resorts we typically frequent on the Riviera Maya. We would not return here, even if it were free...serious!

Beautiful Beach, Beautiful pool, Very good food.

The hotel is clean and staff are very good. The beach is very nice. Lots of lawn lounges to sit on. The food is exceptional. I think one of the best places I have vacationed at and enjoyed. However lining up for a la cartes is terrible. What is really terrible you are on vacation and have to line up for a la carte that night and you could be there an hour and not get a table this happened. This is what they need to fix it does not work. REMEMBER we are on vacation and staying at your hotel. That was my only real negative about this place. But wont be back unless they fix that.

Disappointed

Visited April 12-16 for our third visit at this resort. This trip was extremely disappointing for us. The level of customer service we received in the past has gone down tremendously this year. After a long day of flying and layovers, Check in was fast and easy even though the clerk wasn't very friendly. We were escorted to our room by a very informative bell hop whom we appreciated. We enjoyed a nice dinner at the buffet and went back to the room to showerand rest. The shower drained very slowly and when my husband checked the drain closure it broke off in his hand. We were too tired to wait on maintenance and decided to wait until thenext day to have the issue resolved. Fortunately for us once the closure broke the water drained. The towels were dingy and frayed and the bathrooms overall need to be updated. We tried to schedule a late check out upon arrival but we're told that we had to wait until the day of check out to make that request. On the day of check out we were told by one front desk rep that we couldn't do a late check out because the rooms were already sold but that we could stay at the resort and use the shower at the spa for wash up before heading to the airport. Or, do a late check out until 2pm for and extra $70. Once we decided what we wanted to do, we returned to the front desk and were told by another clerk at front desk that the late check out was doable until 6pm for an extra $140 and that the spa showers were never an option. We were asked by a "Loyalty Officer" about our stay and we explained or concerns to a smile and a shrug. While there are a vast array of food options, the options for pescatatians and vegetarians are few. We travel to Cancun annually to celebrate my 4 yr old daughter's birthday, but with the lack of accommodation for late day flyers and resolution to issues, we have marked Grand Oasis Palm off of our list of favorite places to stay.
