Hotel was ok, the combination of two hotels with small pool areas and small restaurants is not great. It would have been a great vacation except for a few things. As I stated the restaurants were small and you had to weight in line to be seated. Couldn't get a reservation at one of the restaurants because they only took reservations at 4:00 pm. And within 5 minutes the capacity was taken. They elevators wee horrible and you had to wait it seemed like hours for the elevator. Took the stairs from the room most of the time. I loved our trip to Cancun but would definitely stay at an different hotel. Room and view were amazing. They also did not have balconies

They ruined our wedding!!
Apr 18 2017
Our wedding was a complete nightmare. We visit MX every year and this was by far the worst travel experience in my life. 2 day’s into our trip I realized we were not receiving certain perks that we had purchased with our $2,300 US Dollar wedding package (Not including the thousands spent on air fare and hotel). We spoke to concierge and were told that the wedding department never informed the resort of our wedding (2 days before our wedding). Most of the 33 items listed in our wedding package did not exist or simply didn’t happen. We were totally bait and switched upon arrival. We were treated TERRIBLE by the staff. No one would allow us to speak to a manager the entire stay. The room was small and smelled of mildew. I chose this resort because it was “family friendly” for the flower girl. We all left vomiting for days with a terrible viral stomach infection. Wedding Package: · AUTO Smart for the wedding.* · VIP Bracelet for wedding couple. DOES NOT EXIST · Private VIP Check-in for wedding couple. DID NOT GET · Room Upgrade.* DOES NOT EXIST · Welcome cocktail during check in. DID NOT GET · Wedding Romance Concierge. DID NOT GET · Special tasting of wedding dinner menu – 2 persons (must arrive 4 days before the wedding date). DID NOT GET · 20% discount on Spa treatments for the wedding couple. · Judges or Minister Fees included. · Special Wedding location on terrace or beach. Elevators were horrible, always getting stuck. Very slow could not Elevators were horrible! Always getting stuck! Very slow could not accommodate guest, always a line. We found only 2 restraints to eat, the others were not very good. The beach with hammocks were great, pools were great! We still had a great time!! The worst was the elevators. So if u are on low level would not be bad for the price!!

The hotel was OK. Food was only fair. While at the beach or pool, was hard to find a server to take our drink orders. The staff was not as friendly as I would have hoped. I would probably not go back to this hotel in the future. Was OK for the price.

Telemarketers at the lobby
Jul 11 2016
Telemarketers at the lobby pretend to be hotel concierge and their uniforms doesn't say the hotels name. They offer hotel free packages but the truth it's a timeshare presentation. They keep on asking us every morning at the lobby and it's very annoying. They are like those telemarketers at Cancun airport.

Only complaint is the elevator. Its so small and can only fit four people. It stops at almost every floor. So you have to wait another 5-10 mins for the next one.

We tried to make the best of it.

We were pretty disappointed in this resort. It seemed like the very basic stuff was included and if you wanted anything extra it was for more money. The beach sucked. IT was only .5 miles long and from the edge of the resort to the water edge was about 150 feet. The food was okay there just wasn't enough of it. We were always hungry. The rooms were so noisy that we didn't sleep for the 4 nights we were there. Our concierge was very uninformed about what was and wasn't offered as part of the all inclusive package. We will never go back to this resort.

I'm a bit surprised Apple Vacations would offer this hotel. There are 2 very small elevators of which 1 was constantly broke. 2 small womens restroom stalls near the pool, always out of toilet paper or hand wipes. Long lines for snack bar and drinks, frequently out of towels. Electricity went out for 1.75 hours Sunday night, room got very hot and stuffy. The recessed light in the shower fell out of the ceiling while I was in the shower, no caps on electrical joints. Will not return to this resort.

We arrived to Grand Oasis Palm in a evening and had been denied to be excepted, because, according to the manager, Apple Vacation canceled our reservation. He told us that we can leave or he can move us to other hotel. We booked this hotel with a purpose to celebrate Christmas with our grand kids in a area of calm ocean and kids friendly environment. We had no opportunity but to be moved to Grand Oasis Cancun. The hotel was fine, but the ocean was very rough and we were not able even to get close to the ocean. The next morning we visited the Apple Vacation representative Eric Monpain. In our 20 years of traveling we never met anybody more helpful than him. He spend two days in a phone trying to get us back to Grand Oasis Palm overcoming the resistance of the management of the hotel. They insisted that it was Apple Vacation fault not theirs. Eventually, they let us to come back after we wasted almost 3 days of our 7 days vacation. We would like this incident to be investigated by Apple Vacation and if it is really Apple Vacation fault, we need to be compensated for the lost time. We would like to recognize Eric Monpain for his exceptional professionalism and dedication. He is the one who let us enjoy the rest of our vacation.

While the hotel had wonderful rooms, the food was sub-par. The service at the bars were great. The beach was very crowded and the pool was small. There were only 2 elevators and it caused an issue anytime we wanted to leave or return to our rooms.

Great Kids Club, long food lines

Sat Jul 14 21:11:26 EDT 2018
Close family friends who also had young kids chose this all-inclusive hotel, so we had no choice to stay here, which we did three days, two nights from July 3-5. I read all of the previous reviews and seeing is believing. We stayed on the Grand Oasis side. (Disclaimer: my wife is from Mexico and our kids and the friends' kids all speak Spanish. Not sure if child care staff speaks English.) We have stayed or visited other all-inclusive resorts nearby and in/near Playa del Carmen. The good: 1) Kids Club. It's great but hard to find. You need find the Oasis Palm main lobby above the sports bar, past the elevators. You can leave the kids there but at least need to check in on them every 30-90 minutes. They give you a booklet with the schedule. The club has it's own game room, princess play area, movie showing area and private pool area - not used at once, though. 2) The only decent buffet meal is breakfast on the Grand side at Las Palmas. Have one partner stand in line while the other gets coffee and cookies from their cafe across the lobby. You can bring in the coffee to the restaurant. There is usually a long line waiting to get in and once inside, another bottleneck for eggs/waffles/pancakes. Big parties of 4 or more are not accommodated. Another good meal but do order a lot of food is Los Agaves Tacos and Tortas at lunch time. 3) There were no issues with the drinks here. I decided to take a chance after seeing so many locals on the first day but many more internationals arrived on July 4th. 4) The location. Within walking distance from the hotel is the dock for the fast ferry to Isla Mujures, the pirate ship (next door) and some convenience/drug stores/Starbucks. The all-inclusive is also at the beginning of the hotel zone and the local bus service for locals stops right in front of the hotel. 5) Beach and pool areas are a big, plentiful. Some seaweed on the beach but could have been worse. The bad: 1) Long, long lines of 20-30 minutes wait at Las Palmas for breakfast and dinner, Restaurant Sisal and Dos Lunas for dinner. Imagine two big hotels and there are only three buffet restaurants!! On our last night, we went to Sisal on the Oasis Palm side. There were many empty tables in the back and not enough waitstaff with still a long wait! and the food was not worth waiting for. By 9 Pm or so, most of the roast turkey was gone. 2) The elevator is tiny and gets full fast. We stayed on the Grand side and on the third floor. Used the stairs going down 2/3 of the time because the elevator would be full from the upper floors. 3) The food is bad compared to other all-inclusive resorts. The pizza from the Helados, Pizza Dos Lunas was bowling-alley, cafeteria quality and took 30 minutes to prepare. The snack bar on the beach has all fried food and sushi (never tried it) and we brought the snack bar food into Helados while waiting for the pizza. (We just arrived from traveling all day.) Dinner on first night at Las Palmas was awful. So be sure to eat a big breakfast and lunch. 4) Lots of expensive extras. $5 USD for one hour, one device (typical for most all-inclusives in Riviera Maya), $120 pesos per day for the room safe, $15 per picture for optional photo shoot, the massage services were a rip-off - about $300 USD per couple, 300 pesos for the beach club. 5) Smell of the water coming out of the shower. But this is common in Mexico. 6) Check out was not smooth. There was confusion whether I made only a reservation or had already paid in full. Make sure you do not give staff your only hard copy of the confirmation and keep track of your check out receipt - which you may need to show the doorman on the way out. Not sure if we would return to this specific all-inclusive. Would recommend solely for the kids club and great bang for your buck.

We have just returned from a brilliant 2 weeks at the Grand Oasis Palm. We booked the Grand side and we are so glad we did. The Oasis Palm pool area was exceptionally busy every day and really quite loud. The grand pool is lovely, be sure to get up early for a sun lounger though as there are not many, The beach area is lovely too and the hammocks in the sea are so lovely to lie in. We booked a standard room and were given a pool view room when we arrived. We were on the top floor with a great view. Room was lovely and cleaned every day. Fridge with drinks and beer. Could have done with this being replenished every day rather than every second. On our last evening the air con went down in the hotel. we had a very uncomfortable last night and morning before check out due to the heat. The food was good, the buffets are ok, plenty of choice, Dos Lunas was good for breakfast and so was Sisal. There was always a queue for Las Palmas so we avoided this. Cereyes was stunning, we celebrated our anniversary and the staff were amazing, we had to go back and experience it again before we left and the staff and food again, were out of this world. The White Box is superb, Adrian our waiter was so attentive and great both times we visited. Maki Taco was great for a family meal and we ate there twice too. Kids club is wonderful and the women who run this are saints. Kids can be in the club from 9am till 10pm at night, we had to drag our boy out to spend time with us. He loved the club. Kids can eat here so adults can use the adult only restaurants which is a lovely touch and avoids having to organise a sitter. All the staff were lovely, we only made one complaint during our whole stay. We didn't have a good experience in one of the buffet restaurants and spoke to the concierge about this. We ventured out and the local buses are great, 12 pesos each way per person to get to the malls or to Walmart. You get to experience some of the local culture etc. Avoid the Flea Market unless you want aggressive selling. it was an experience just to even walk through. The Grand Oasis Palm is a great hotel for families. It's not going to be for everyone but I think some people (after reading some of the reviews on here) expect far too much. We heard a lot of American's complaining about everything. They should try some European hotels, then they may have some things worth complaining about. Little touches made this hotel special for us, on our anniversary they put Champagne and Chocolate covered strawberries in our room. On our final night we got chocolate covered strawberries delivered to our room as a thank you. Captain Hook's pirate ship on a Friday afternoon is free for Grand guests. Our son loved this. Tequila tasting is also free for grand guests. I would highly recommend this hotel for a family. We had a great experience and hope to visit another Oasis hotel next year in Mexico.

We stayed here as a family of 5 - 3 children (12, 9 and 6). We arranged our transport from the airport and check-in was good with our suitcases being taken to our rooms (nice touch). I did book a standard room and although the room was clean and pleasant, they expected my 3 children to share one double bed! This was quickly sorted and we were moved to a larger room with an additional bed. The beach was beautiful. Still waters for nervous bathers and fun hammocks which are nice to cool down on. The staff work tirelessly to clean the beach area. I loved the private section offering double beds but unfortunately this area was adult only. I loved the drinks service on the beach/pool but unfortunately only got asked twice on my stay - probably due to them being inundated. We had the grand exclusivity meaning we had access to certain places to eat/bars. After visiting the oasis side, I'm glad of this as it seemed noisey/rowdy and a bit hectic if I'm honest. We stuck to the quieter grand side and stayed by this pool most days so I could watch the kids swim. The lifeguard is a reassuring plus but there are limited Sun loungers here so be sure to rise early if you want a good spot. The pool is lovely, not too cold but perfect. Please note: the beach and pool area is still lively and busy up until 8pm. This was unusual for us as we're used to getting ready for dinner around 6pm, however it was a nice change and we embraced watching the sunset. The rooms were kept beautifully clean and I was well impressed with the daily service. One night we got chilly so we rang down for blankets and they came 10 minutes later. We met one other English family and apart from that found the majority of other travellers American, Canadian or Mexican. This suited us perfectly. The food at the buffets suited my children especially at breakfast but it did tire for me and my husband. The beach bar snacks were also a favourite with the kids but not great if you lean towards healthy eating. They do offer sushi though! Mako Taco was a great experience for us all and Cayeres was out of this world! A real experience and something you don't forget as there was just me and my husband in the whole restaurant so the service was outstanding! We visited Cancun, Tulum and did the Dolphin Discovery which I would highly recommend. My husband and son swam with Whale Sharks which he said was well organised and worth every penny. We also ventured out on the local buses. They come every couple of minutes and offer a cheap alternative to Taxis. It's not widely advertised but as a guest at Grand Oasis you can enjoy the benefits of other Oasis resorts across Mexico so we visited the Pyramid resort (Cancun) and stayed the day. We got free towels and ate there. The diner offering hotdogs and chicken wings etc looked great but in reality was awful. My food was cold the service was shocking and they didn't have any of the food advertised including the milkshakes my kids wanted. It was geared for youngsters too 😩not for an oldies like me and my husband. We also visited the Grand Oasis in Tulum and that was beautiful. Small beach but great pool area with family beds to sunbathe on and the food was better than our resort. All in all a great holiday with lots of memories made!

Great staff especially Juan Carlos. He went above and beyond to make sure we had gluten free diet for my granddtr and meals for my other grandkids. Room was clean, water was hot. Kids had a blast and want to go back for the next vacation.
