I travelled to Cancun for the first time in 2000. This was my first tropical vacation and it was amazing! This resort was luxurious and beautiful..with parrots and peacocks around the resort. The beach was beautiful but water was quite wavy. Pools were great and it was incredibly hot. The food was very good and plentiful...especially the a la carte Caesar salad. Rooms were clean, spacious and had marble washroom. The nightlife was so much fun! We would take the hotel's shuttle bus to the main strip where the clubs were. Needless to say...the party atmosphere was amazing! I would recommend this resort.

We were here for 3 days 3 nights and I do not recommend this resort for a short stay. We paid for a Nichupte lagoon view balcony and my guy paid for the upgrade VIP Grand Oasis. I recommend doing this. We had a nice room and when we arrived it was 84 degrees Farenheight with 90% humidity. The Air-conditioning was not working. My guy complained to the front desk and to the Apple Vacations representative. Someone did come to the room to try to fix the air-conditioning. I recommend booking through Apple Vacations for this resort. We did not have a coffee maker in the room but we did have a stocked mini-fridge. Humberto, bartender at the VIP lounge during breakfast buffet breakfast/day was friendly and helpful. When I needed ice cubes for my cola and cold bottle waters both at breakfast and during the daytime. This resort does not have non-dairy creamer for coffee. The Peacocks were located near VIP lounge and we watched them while we ate breakfast. We also stayed in the Grand Pyramid and we watched the amazing aerial shows from our room floor. There was construction everyday in the Grand Pyramid to set-up different stage. It was also loud during the nightly show at 8pm. You can smoke cigarettes in the lobby except for during the nightly shows. We ate at Cocoa Bar (Seafood) for lunch our 1st day and the Tuna steak was delicious and the rest of our meal. (Above average) The bartender located near this restaurant made good alcoholic beverages. This was the only location with Coors Light beer and drinks for beach service. We made Reservations for Careyes Restaurant (men are required to wear long pants and closed shoes). Everything we ate at this restaurant was delicious (above average). It takes at least 15 minutes to walk to the beach and you have to walk over bridges and under neath are pools. Our 1st night we walked allover the resort to find the nightlife and the restaurants..The tv in the room has a schedule of evening shows except it was in Spanish and the show times were listed in Military time and it was difficult to figure out what night shows to try to see and what bars to go to. Coyote Loco (Oasis Cancun) was hot and All of the bars and restaurants do not have Restrooms inside and you have to walk 10-15 minutes to find a Restroom and by then you've lost your Alcoholic buzz. Your alcoholic beverage options were not the same at each of the restaurants and bars. We were going to watch a Burlesque show at Kinky Bar but it was too hot inside. We at at the Market Buffet for breakfast and lunch and our lunch server, Javier, was friendly and nice. The food here was good and the deserts were delicious. The Mexican restaurant on the Oasis Cancun was okay and the Mariachi band was good. The pizza at the Italian restaurant wasn't very good. Some things we at at the Maki Taco (Japanese) were good and some were too salty. The beach was beautiful with white sand and the water of the Caribbean Sea was beautiful and we could see 4-6 colors. We used the beach area our 2nd day with beverage service. We tried to use it on our 3rd day and we found out that we had to pay $16 so we went further out onto the beach. We usually do some tours but this was a short trip. We took the bus and went shopping at the Flamingo Mall. We feel safe on the bus at it is $1 pp. and we found some good deals at the mall. Your best deals for shopping are at Market 28.

We just got back & we had a really great time at the Grand Oasis we did pay for an oceanfront room it was very nice room we had no problems. Some people said they wished they had booked the grand side they didn't know there was 2 resorts together the oasis & The grand oasis confusing names so similar. If you have trouble with your room we had sunwing rep downstairs under the lobby at least give them a chance to help you if the front desk doesn't help you. The grand side you get to go to all restaurants & you have a VIP lounge in the lobby it was nice to go there in the afternoon for a coffee or a snack or extra water. It was so beautiful seeing the water from your balcony everyday. The staff were fantastic everywhere we went. Roberto our waiter in The Market Buffet was so good to us as well as the other market staff they work hard & deserve any tips you feel like giving. The lady at the door to the market who takes your name was really good about not letting people cut in line she was great. There will be some line-ups to get into eat at most of the places but you never wait too long or you can go get a drink & come back. The food overall was good so many choices of places to eat the favorite for most people was the rodizzo brazil place they have about 8 different meats grilled on long sticks they bring around to your tables. We went to cocoa its seafood & steak most of the food was not hot when served my scallops still tasted good. My husband thought the beef at the resort was tough but other food was good. The pool goes from one end of the resort to the other beautiful design lots of noisy or quiet spots to go to. The one complaint from everyone there are not enough chairs you do have to save your chair on the beach or at the pool early with your towel. we did hear a little construction some days but this place is so big its unavoidable i think. we did hear complaints from a few people staying on the oasis side not everyone had complaints seemed rooms on that side were a hit or a miss they do not come with fridges or coffee makers. you do need lots of water so fridges are important I don't know why they don't have them in the oasis side seems silly to me. you can get extra water in the VIP lounge in the lobby if you are with the grand oasis. We did bring ear plugs you do hear doors slamming sometimes or people talking the hallways. There are a few little stores across the street that sell water & beer & wine. people did complain sometimes of lack of variety of beer & drinks. we did take the bus into town 2 times its a dollar they run all the time very safe they go to a few different malls & flea markets & all the hot spots like coco bongo & senor frog etc. we did not take any tours usually we do but guess we liked relaxing too much this trip. Lots of different ages of people at this resort that was nice. we did see a show in the lobby one night & a great rock band at coyote loco another night. They had pool staff that dress up a few times a day & do little skits interact with people & kids they were fun. The grounds were beautiful lots of birds some lizards. We would come back & stay at this resort it was a wonderful vacation.
Could be better....

First of all, let me clarify that the Oasis and the Grand Oasis are the same resort. There are 2 buildings that are "Oasis" and 3 that are "Grand Oasis", and there is an upgrade from the grand oasis to "Pyramid Grand Oasis" (middle building) - - That is where we stayed. If you book the Oasis, you only have access to half the restaurants and bars and there is a HUGE difference in food and liquor quality. The Mexican restaurant for Grand guests was fabulous, while the oasis Mexican restaurant was horrible.
All of the staff were great - servers, bartenders, housekeeping, ect. Very friendly and will do the little extra things to make sure you are having a great time. The food (GRAND ONLY) was above average for an all inclusive. The entertainment is over the top. The shows inside the grand pyramid building were amazing, we even took in two burlesque shows. There were mini shows while you were having dinner (again, GRAND only). Pool and beach were what you would expect, get down early and grab a spot.
I can sum it all up... the communication between the resort management and guests is horrible to be kind. When you check in, you get a half page map of the resort that has 45 different things on it along with times, ect.. This needs to be a full page so you can read it and have the CORRECT information on it, along with other items. They don't even provide a show schedule to view in your room, you have to look at tv monitors in the resort. Here are 2 examples -
It took us 2 days to figure out that being a Grand guest, there is a pool area and beach area with better loungers for us. Then we used the beach area (very nice) and were hit with a $16 surcharge for wait service - kind of tacky, but if it was communicated - no big deal
We planned to have dinner at the seafood restaurant that opened at 6pm, we got there at 530 to put our names on the list and have a drink at a bar next to it that was supposed to open 11am to 11pm per their map/sheet. We then find out it closes between 4 and 6pm. So we tracked back to the VIP bar for a drink, and then back to the restaurant. Then I was informed, I needed long pants - again... no information on this anywhere except website, so I had to run back to the room and change. Nearly half of the guests had the exact same issue that night, problem??
So, to summarize - none of this was a deal breaker for me, but it amazes me that a big resort like this does a lot right, but the smallest of things to correct isn't done? Here is your easy answer - - Have an information book in your rooms that is correct and updated!! That way your guests would know when things open / attire / services / add-ons....

First of all, please be sure you book through an agency that will stand behind you, as the partner property, Oasis Palm, is nothing but a spring breaker hotel and lot of people think they book the Grand and get the Palm. The Grand Oasis is nicer than that. We had an ocean view room on first floor. Small, but clean and functional. What intrigued me was the number of restaurants and bars offered (18 and 16). Even though some of them were small, it was nice to have such a variety. One thing I did not like was the only bar NOT in one of the restaurants or lobby was in the pool so you had to go in the water to get a drink. I thought the employees were very nice and friendly. The beach was beautiful and there were a lot of restaurants open for lunch (i.e., some of the night time restaurants opened with a more casual menu). One thing that really concerned me was that, three times while we were in our room, the buzzer (doorbell) rang, but without a second to answer the door, the hotel employee let themselves in so be sure to keep your door locked if you don't want this to happen. Another thing that REALLY concerned me was that I got up in the am to get the pool chairs and my husband was still sleeping. I came back to the room and my key card wasn't working (we had a lot of trouble with them) and an employee just walking by asked what the problem was and I explained, but I told him I had just knocked on the door and my husband would be there in a minute and he just used his pass key and let me in--no questions asked. The buffet food was average, which is I think all you can expect it to be. Best thing was we met some wonderful people from all over the world. (Hi Tom and Janet!) This was our first time in Cancun--we usually go to Riverra May or up to Tulum or Puerto Aventuras, and it was a nice area and nice to not take an hour to get to our hotel. And the beds were very comfortable--not normal "Mexico" beds.
