We went there April 21-26, 2016. It is a massive hotel, pay attention to your surroundings the 1st day, after that it's fairly simple to navigate. Check-in, long lines but fairly steady. Room, nothing fancy, a/c didn't work the 1st night, went to the desk, had it working within 2 hours. Toilet clogged, sent up maintenance guy within 10 minutes, room fridge, not cold, but always stocked. Housekeeping always forgot towels, but anytime I saw them, I asked they handed me some. Beverages, they booze up the kids lol. But if you want top shelf, you won't get it. Stay away from the sprite, no bueno. Food, for feeding the masses. Breakfast buffet in restaurant and VIP bar was good. Get tacos from the little stand, and ice cream, yum!! Sarape was the best place to eat. Lunch and dinner. Atmosphere, beautiful scenery and a bit loud, but I'm on vacation, idc if you are loud! Pool, amazing. Ocean, stunning Beach, clean Parasailing on beach with yellow smiley face, nicest guys and reasonably priced. All in all, fun and had really no issues that weren't addressed immediately. Oh, I also left my room key in the room and they gave me another one, no problemo. More>

My husband and I just got back from a short 5 night stay at the Grand Oasis. This was our second trip to Cancun and our first trip to this resort located in the hotel zone of Cancun. First driving up to the resort you are taken back by the enormity of this resort. It is impressive and huge. We arrived at 10 am so much too early to get our room but no worries they will tuck your bags away securely while your room is being prepared. Check in is in the Main building " The Pyramid" humid and dark but it was beautiful. We were directed to the concierge who did the preliminary checking and received our bands so that we could start enjoying all the resort has to offer, we were given a map of the resort and off we went to find the buffet. Looking at the map again you are in awe by the sheer size of the property. We found the first buffet only by sheer luck. The last hour of breakfast so we were able to enjoy our first meal. After breakfast we embarked on our journey and explore the rest of the property. The beach is absolutely beautiful, white sands and blue water it was amazing. So the Pros: We had upgraded at time of booking to an ocean view, this was not a disappointment we were on the first floor of the building closest to the beach. Our patio was large with a table and chairs and lounge chairs to watch the stars at night or bask in the late afternoon sun. Each Restaurant we tried was not a disappointment. Our favorites were the Italian and the TEX MEX “Sarape” for dinner and lunch at the Hippe Chic, Coco, and the Sports bar and Grill were great. There was plenty to do here so if you are a partyer this truly is a place to kick up your heels and have a great time. The entertainment is fantastic and the night life is never ending. The Cons: Spring Break for the Canadians. Too many kids (nice) but too much. This is a party Resort! TIME SHARE SALES PEOPLE: When you book your trip ask this very important question” Is there Time Share People on the property? The first day we arrived we were approached by a couple of nice gentlemen asking if we just arrived and what we thought of the place we said so far so good. They said good and off they went. The very next morning as we walked out of the buffet there they were again only to ask if we received our free beach bag and free bottle of tequila. We said no and they lead into the Pyramid and out the front door. We thought this was odd and my Husband asked if this is about time share they said oh no We are going to show you the resort you are wearing the “VIP” bracelets come on it should take 10 mins. So off we went 2 minutes later we were in some building where a bunch of people were sitting around tables. Our guy brought over another guy who proceeded to tell us all about how we could have VIP anywhere in the world. For the next thirty-six years you could enjoy all of this. My husband stopped him told him again that we were not interested. The guy thanked us for our honesty and called someone else over to take a “survey” he too tried but we stopped him he gave us a little bottle of tequila said thank you. After our 10 min tour (1 hour) we were left to walk back to our hotel with our “free bottle of Tequila (no beach bag)”. We came here to relax not to be approached by some sales guys who are just trying to make a sale. The no we gave them turned out to be days of ridicule (insulting) towards my husband. We travel a lot and have been to many ALL INCLUSIVE resorts in different countries and this was the first time we ever had this happen to us. Horrible. My suggestion get them off the resort left a very bad taste in my mouth. To visitors my suggestion is to tell them you already got your tour and free stuff. I hate to say that but come on the sale was made when you booked your hotel for vacation. People are there to relax and enjoy not be pressured into something else. The Banos (bathrooms) all down stairs everywhere they STINK BAD no ventilation. Clean but they stink. Need more air circulating in the washrooms. Many Levels: If you have any disabilities where walking is an issue this is not a resort for you. There are many levels to this place where stairs are your only option to enjoy a restaurant or bar. There are no bars next to the pool and the swim up bar is full of kids who never seem to leave. Put more Bars and food areas on main levels. Food Court We were standing in line to get some lunch when we noticed that the birds were flying into some of the food trays and enjoying the same food they were giving to the people. Nothing unattended was covered Gross. Keeping the food covered would be suggested we can’t stop the wild life for being in the area so prevent it from getting into the food you are serving to the guests. SWIM UP BAR POOL: empty cups and lord knows what that oily chunky stuff was floating around in the pool was. Keep the filters running to avoid some of this would be a great idea. Someone policing this garbage floating in the pool would be great too. For us even though the Resort staff were respectful and kind eager to serve you and the food was outstanding. We will not be going back to this resort it is entirely too large for our taste we will stick to a smaller resort. More>

My friend and I had a great time there. it was our first time at this resort and we will beck 100%. if you come for the activities and the parties you wont be disappointed! The food wasn't bad at all. The resort has many restaurants to choose from but the downside was that no matter where you go you have to wait in line to be seated, even the buffet....we ended up skipping meals because we didn't want to waste time on food and miss all the fun at the pool. the rooms were just OK, we had to pay additional $7 a day for a lock box. $30 for 5 days of wifi. The highlights of the vacation were the activities and the parties at the resort. Huge thanks to Chris, Adrian, Daniel and the entire animation and sports team for making our stay amazing! so many great activities like zumba, salsa, kayaking, foam and color parties during the day, pool activities, night contests during the night parties! they were hilarious! great music everywhere at all times! bottom line is if you wanna have a great time with people ages 20 to mid 30, party all day and all night that's the place for you! (you have to go out downtown to the clubs some nights "the city" "Mandela pool party" "coco bongo" ). More>

Where do I even begin?!! First lets point out a couple of positive things: The beach is amazing. The musicians in the lobby bar were very talented as was the lobby show. If you are under 25 and dont care about cleanliness or service and want to party the music is pumping and the party goes all night. People were definitely having fun and we did too, once we surrendered to the fact we needed to go with the flow. I picked this hotel for my son and his friend who are both 20. We arrived around 3 pm and there was a long line up out the lobby door for check in which was extremely slow. Unbeknownst to us, there was a second door for check in and a new line up formed and the people in the new line were being served before us. Not only was that extremely rude, but the staff didnt even consider alternating between the two line ups. I spoke up and addressed the issue, asking that they alternate between the two lines as we had been there for an hour and these people are suddenly getting served. I think from that moment forward I was "flagged". When we finally had been served, I put a US $20 in my passport and asked for a nice room. He took the money, came back and told us he was giving us the best 2 ocean view rooms in the house. NICE! We walk through the hotel to building #2 which I now know is the party building, there was dirt, cigarrette butts all over the floors, no cleaning staff anywhere that I could see and people were partying in the hall ways with there doors open. I was checking into a frat house. A college dormitory. The room was something out of the 70's the bed was flat and lifeless and looked dirty. I lifted up the bed skirt and saw black mold on the box spring. There was no pictures, not ONE piece of furniture with a drawer, not even a table. Two chairs on the deck and the best ocean view was a sliver of blue between two buildings in front of us. We un packed and I needed out of there. The partying continued. I went downstairs and asked to be moved. They told me it was not possible. \I told my son I would try again tomorrow but if we didnt get moved, I was going to Walmart to by bedding. The first night we ate at the buffet, by that I mean we tried to eat at the buffet but it was inedible. One of the boys wanted wifi which you needed pesos for and had to exchange money. At the front desk we were told the girl who did the money exchange was on a break, come back in " 20 - 30 minutes" We were told that 5 times. We finally got our money exchanged the next day. We went to coyotes and I went to bed. The boys stayed out and hit the sports bar for snacks, all of which was inedible. The noise was ridiculous. I phoned security at 5 am and they said they had received several complaints about the noise. OK.....The next morning, I returned to the front desk hoping the same employee from last night was not there and begged to be moved. He said he could, but to come back at 2PM. Back at two, he said come back in 30 minutes. We went to book an excursion and when we came back of course the 3:00 check in rush had begun. Finally around 4:30 I was able to get the keys. Hallelujah! Its now Saturday night, I get woken up a couple times during the night with party revelers, then again at 7:30 for early morning mass on a loud speaker. After being blessed to work on a Sunday, the jack hammers and hammering begins at 9 am and was to be the norm for the rest of our duration. FYI regardless of what floor your on, the buildings are designed much like a maximum state prison, a vast open centre surrounded by the hallways leading into rooms. You can see every floor if you look up or down so nothing contains the noise on any level. Lets talk service. Unless you hold a tip in your hand at the bar, that is if you can press your way past the massive mob in front of it all wanting drinks, they somehow, dont seem to see you. They ran out of tequila and beer a couple nights. We're in MEXICO!! The icing on the cake was when my son asked for water and they said they were out of water. OMG. Desperate, his friend drank tap water and ended up in the hospital with an acute intestinal infection which cost me $1974.30 CDN. Another story, not quite fair for a review but as a warning to others, DO NOT DRINK THE TAP WATER! One night we went to Coyotes, which opens at 11PM and by 12:30 they were out of beer and tequila. Seriously? We started to just expect the worse for everything and laugh about how ridiculous it all was. If I was to pitch this vacation to a movie producer, I would say it was the "Griswalds Cancun Vacation meets American Horror Story: Hotel". The bottom line: All three of us concur we will NEVER go back to the Grand Oasis. Its a grand disappointment. More>
