First and for most, Mexico is better than cold cold Canada. I would recommend asking for upgrade to Pyramid, there were more choices and access to private quite lounge that my friend and I wished we could have found after our 3rd day of the loud bars in this resort. What I did not like is on our last 3 days at the Kinky bar they were charging for drinks and only serving premium drinks. Nowhere on brochure or website did it indicate charges could apply in the following bar/lounges. Very disappointing and the service was slow slow, even though we were paying for drinks at an all inclusive resort!!! The Havana Night Club also charged for drinks and only offered premium drinks as well. Again, the brochure/ map they provided us at check in, DID NOT INDICATE THESE PLACES WOULD CHARGE FOR DRINKS. The 24hr Sports-bar advertising is deceiving. They only serve food 24hr, they stop serving alcohol at around 11 or 12pm. So those that think they can drink alcohol and have midnight snacks like what we thought, well you are out of luck. The nightly shows were great. Lots of entertainment throughout the day and night. Food was average. I don't have high expectations from resorts that cook for the masses. The red wine they served was not good at all, I recommend picking up wine for your room if your a big wine drinker like I am. Stood in line to book a time slot for the steak restaurant but it was completely worth it!!! Best food in this resort. Take time to eat at all the restaurants and stay out of buffet, it will be worth your time, I guarantee it. I myself would not return to this hotel because I no longer like to party all day and all night everyday plus I didn't appreciate with unexpectedly having to pay for drinks or not given option of ordering non premium drinks. We would have upgraded our bracelet had we known this.

The hotel was selected for me through Air Miles. I could not have asked for a better place to stay if I had researched it myself. The resort was huge with 5 different hotel building on the grounds with a massive long pool that stretched the entire resort. My blue wrist band allowed me into 18 restaurants and yes I had my favorites and went back several times to them. My favorite dinner restaurant was the Rodizio Steakhouse near my hotel. The food was amazing, service was first class and I went for dinner there 3 times during my 1 week stay and saved the 3rd visit for my last night there. My favorite breakfast place was the Tunkul buffet restaurant. I went there everyday for breakfast, sat almost everywhere in the restaurant. Service was great and the food was excellent. My room on the top floor of the Polmar 2 building was great, the maid service was excellent. My room was always in great shape when I returned and I made sure Elizabeth was recognized several times with monetary thank yous! The beach was amazing, weather was fabulous and there were lots to do and see. Swimming in the ocean was fun and refreshing. I even got to see a beach wedding which was really nice. I had never been to a swim up bar before and made sure I ticked that off my bucket list. Got to play tennis on the courts with some Quebec University Students. My evenings were spent at the Oasis Arena and Kinky Night Club. The entertainment, singing and Dancing there was fantastic. I even got to dance the Mexican Hat Dance with one of the dancers on stage. Quite amazing! The Red Circus performances were something out of a movie. Never before had I seen such an amazing extravaganza show like this. The acrobatics, singing and displays were outstanding. I saw every different show and was really impressed. I got to do 4 trips during my stay, Chicken Itza, Dolphins, snorkeling and the huge lookout tower. All were amazing and I enjoy them very much. The hotel staff were great and very helpful and all in all I really had a great time, as much as I could as a solo traveler.

great room, average food

The Grand Oasis is a mega resort in Cancun. The sort of place where you don't ever need to leave. The hotel has 25 bars and 25 eating places. Some of the eating places are kiosks. Note that some of the bars and eating places are not accessible to all of the guests - the hotel operates different levels of stays. The hotel has a large pool (at one end of it there is loud music playing for the young folks). There is also a long section of the beach available. The food wasn't great. All of the places I eat were average at best.

Only thing good is the entertainment!

Great place to go for a party! But there were a lot of cons to this resort.. I travelled with a friend for 8 days travelling with sunwing. This is gonna be a long review but hopefully very helpful to you FLIGHT (Sunwing) Being delayed from 8pm to 1am then didn't leave until 2am. Sunwing would not compensate us 80$ for the delay because of a backwards rule twisted to their advantage Arrived at the hotel at 7am CHECK IN -no bellboy service even though they helped everybody else -no welcome drinks even though everybody else was offered them. (All I wanted was water while waiting the hour and a half) -was advised that there's a charge for the safe 7$ a day (even though some staff also have master keys) -charge for lost towels 10$, and u have to return before 5pm at the same place u got them or wait till the next day -charge for new room keys around 30$ -worst off if u loose ur plastic bracelet it's 100$ to replace! -the check in lady (very rude) handed us an envelope with our information in it and sent us on our way, again no bellboy to help us find our room and no direction what so ever! After wandering with all of our luggage for about 40 min and asking 4 different staff members who couldn't even point us in the right way a very kind security guard took us there. - trying to forget the morning while settling in our room a maid just walked right in without knocking! ROOMS We stayed in the 4000 building (I believe it was palmar 3) on the second floor, our room was right over a parking garage (ugly roof) with a view of the lagoon, not the worst view I've ever had. -There was no dresser, that was weird! just a closet with a small 3 drawer half dresser and some hangers no ironing board or iron. -our door would not close unless we kicked it hard which is very loud in the middle of the night! -the shower absolutely needs a shower curtain! (Only part of shower covered with glass wall) Water would cover the whole bathroom floor - the door would only open half way -every time u touched the sink handles your hands would turn black and green -the toilet broke one day but maintenance staff came right away - not to mention the glass window going from the bedroom to the toilet area! -beds where very comfy with extra bedding in the closet but the pillows are paper thin -mini fridge stocked daily with 4 water 4 beer and 4 pop if u have your do not disturb sign up just call room service and they will come to fill it for you -fridge broke one day and was replaced within the hour WIFI Don't buy it online before you leave! You can purchase it when u log onto the wifi 5 days for 40$ (2devices) -works mostly everywhere if u stay in one spot. DRINKS/PARTY -no bars have menus so know what you want to drink -coyote loco is a fun place to go for everybody in the crowd DJ plays dance music till the band plays more rock then back to dance music -beach club was a great time after 10/11pm! But the bar couldn't serve me water only a glass of ice or tonic -tiki bar by the beach club is a blast during the day! BEACH - waves were really strong and rough -beach is beautiful -no beach chairs POOL -always clean! -hard to find free chairs after 9 am FOOD - buffet was not good! Mainly ate beef and rice - restaurants u had to wait over an hour after 9 And it was a slight step up from the buffet -room service was best bet 12$ per delivery -sports bar had 24hr food only they stop serving alcohol at 1 but you can buy liquor there $$$ OTHER -some staff would go out of their way for you by being nice but be ready to tip -be very carful the security will not hesitate to call the police if u don't pay them you can do what ever as long as you have money -there is a lot of walking so bring comfy shoes -this hotel needs water fridges everywhere! -red circus show was amazing -was too scared to leave the resort as two young females after hearing many rumours about shootings and stabbings around the resort CHECK OUT Our last day we had some troubles -again no bell boy to help us to the lobby -no line was a plus -they cut off our bracelets at 11am and gave us a paper ticket till we left at 12am (very annoying having to show every staff member the ticket nobody even knew what at paper ticket meant and caused a big problem all day) temporary day bracelets would be a great fix for this. Over all our week was amazing due to the people we met and the party scene on the resort I don't know if I would ever go back but it sure was fun! THANKS FOR READING! :)

Great place for a vacation!

Wish there was a beach towel service by pools. Had an excellent oceanview room with a balcony. It bit of ways with big steps down to the beach. Excellent resturants to choose from and coffee shops. I love the pool side treat such as tacos, chicken wings, hot dogs, hamburgers and ice cream!
