Upon arrival it was confusing where to go to check in. Once in the correct area, there was not sign in or formal line therefore two families were served prior to us after we had already arrived. A "take a number" would have avoided this delay and confusion. The person who explained our visit to us did not inform us as well as we thought which we later discovered. Check out was just as confusing. The room was smaller than expected but the view was amazing. The room was kept clean with the exception of a few minor items like the coffee pot not being cleaned, extra coffee not always provided, dirty cups not removed and some not replaced for a day, never left additional beach towels even though the initial towels were left with room towels. The refrigerated was stocked well each day. We did not receive daily turn down service - only one time we did. Our room did come with wine and fruit and plenty of personal hygiene items. The customer service representatives in our building we all VERY helpful. The entire campus was spotless! The staff went out of their way to assist when any help was needed. There was plenty of entertainment available with diversity to appeal to our interests. Safety was never a concern and I would definitely not be too worried to send my own college age children to this resort. The Party Staff around the "O" did an amazing job keeping things under control. Due to the size of the complex and the placement of vendors, there were few crowded areas. Most food vendor's food was pretty good. To avoid confusion, a chart listing what was available for breakfast, lunch and dinner would have been helpful rather than the list. The map of locations was very helpful. One area that may not be avoidable was the lavatories. They often smelled bad and some facilities were out of order/broke. It is understood that with the amount of guests this may be difficult to keep up with. It was nice to see a separate area for children too although we did not have the need for that amenity.

Our family (2 adults & 3 teenagers) stayed at this resort for 1 week, and here is the good the bad, and the ugly. THE GOOD: beautiful resort/pools, excellent food/service, great beach/ocean. THE BAD: room air conditioning did not work, mini fridge did not work, tough to get a drink at the wet bars, and the staff at check-in did tell us about all the amenities available. THE UGLY: the resort was filled with young "Spring/Summer breakers" partying very hard. They took over several pools/wet bars, kept us several nights yelling outside & in the hallways, and generally trashed the resort. It's a shame - it is a beautiful resort and they ruined it. We will never go back, and will not recommend it to anyone.

I'm a 48 year old single mom no I had a 15 year old teenage son trAveling with me. The person that helped us book this trip knew that. I have never been to cancun so all of this was new to me. It was the worst possible experience of my life. The food was so bad I actually lost weight of this trip. There were drunk people being pulled out of the pool almost hourly and when we woke up in the am people he puked where we were going to eat breakfast. It happened regularly. On our second day there I even called apple vacations. I wanted to leave. I didn't care if we lost our money I just wanted to go home. I was told on the phone by the apple representative that , "well you know that is the biggest party hotel in cancun, it's well known". I couldn't believe it, if she knew thAt then why weren't we told that when we booked? She told me to talk to Amstar representatives there. I did, they said I could pay more to go to another hotel, which I couldn't afford. So they said they would move my room. It was almost the exact same room just on the other side of the hotel. We still would have horrible food and drunks everywhere at the resort and on the beach from 10 am till 5 in the am sometimes. Very disappointed. This is the first time I've used Apple vacations. My mothers recommended you guys, but I'm not sure I would ever again.

Very disappointed in the poor rooms, low level of food service and being told "no" constantly. When you check in, you think you are at the top level at the resort, only to find out that there is another level "Pyramid" which apparently is a different resort but in fact is all over the resort you are staying in. The poor quality of alcohol and food was disappointing. I will never bring my family on another trip to an Oasis resort.

When I think of this resort, I can't think of many positives. The staff was rude and not helpful. They wouldn't acknowledge you when approached. Our room's air was broken and they claimed they looked at it but then they never fixed it. Restaurant service was terrible at all places except one place. Overall I would never return to this resort as so many other resorts value their guests and make sure that they are having a good vacation. For an all inclusive, I have never heard the word no for another drink so must or for assistance. They were truly awful.

Hotel staff will promise you to deliver something in two minutes, but does not. Food is awful. The second to the last day, my room was not attended too. At 4:00 am in the morning, I called the front desk and complained about a room below playing their music excessively loud. She did not understand. The security staff seams clueless at times. There people selling drugs at the beach entrance. This does not make me feel safe. Security guards do absolutely nothing about it. I will not be returning.

After reading the reviews on this hotel, I was nervous. I had a great stay. The staff was friendly and accommodating. This was the first time I've traveled to Mexico and my first all-inclusive expirence. The food was good and the lines weren't bad at all. My only complaint is that the resort is very loud and people are in the hallways throughout all hours. Overall, I had a great stay.

I have visited other resorts, and I would have to say that this resort staffed some of the most unfriendly people. There were days that we had absolutely no cold water for showers, etc. Maid service never restocked toiletries until about the 5th day of our stay. The fridge in our room, did not keep anything cold.

Disaster holiday - thieves and disgusting food
Sammy G, England
Sun Nov 12 12:00:36 EST 2017
When you arrive at this hotel, it looks beautiful and is very clean. That's where the compliments end. We were sold this holiday as an all inclusive which it is not - we were told we had access to some of the restaurants but not all, and only the cheap alcohol. The included restaurants were dire, and the people cooking are clearly not chefs, it's a poor attempt at heat and serve. Within 2 days I noticed brand new make up which I had bought in Cancun had been stolen from my room and even providing receipts and boxes, the hotel took no responsibility whatsoever and said that they don't take responsibility for anything left out of the safe, so for the rest of the holiday we had our safe jam packed with all my makeup etc because if it's left out it's basically open for the maids to take whatever they fancy with absolutely no repercussions. To top it off, they tried to lie to us, saying their investigation showed who had used their keys to enter the room but they're system showed we left our door open, which contradicted themselves and when we asked to see the system that said we left our door open, they refused. Everything in this hotel costs extra, it's a hotel run by greedy people. That becomes clear when they do their show in the foyer and have about 60 empty seats in the main area to watch the show because they want to charge you to sit there, it's depressing for the people putting on the show that it doesn't get fully appreciated because some money grabbers want to squeeze a bit more out of you. Every room guaranteed to have something wrong with it, although the hotel looks good, when it rains you can really see that it's falling apart, as you can't even walk down a corridor without dodging buckets and towels or getting dripped on, and their repairs consist of plastering straight over it. A redeeming note about the food, if you have managed to get on the black band, Careyes does nice steak, but if you're staying for 2 weeks like us, you had better like it a lot because it's all you'll eat for 2 weeks. The white box was weird and tried to be something it wasn't, if they could just serve genuinely tasty food without trying to be so fancy it would have been much better. We ordered the tempura prawns and I'm so pleased I cut it open instead of just biting into it because is was blue raw all the way through. This was a mistake and when they came out cooked they were really tasty but I've never been to a restaurant and had such a massive mistake like that happen. They serve a lot of raw seafood so if you didn't know that you can't eat prawns like that they could have given someone severe food poisoning. After this visit I wouldn't recommend anyone even visit Cancun, however if you do, avoid this hotel like the plague. Gonzalo in the Cigar lounge is a credit to this hotel and probably the only genuinely honest and friendly member of staff we came across.

Second honeymoon

My husband and I traveled to Cancun for a second honeymoon. We originally intended to travel to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic but due to the hurricanes we changed our itinerary plans to Cancun. I am SO happy we did. The weather was beyond perfect. Check-in was easy and the staff was friendly. The resort is large and well maintained. Peacocks and iguanas roam freely throughout the resort grounds. We ate at the buffet in the morning: the omelets were made to order and delicious! There are several pools on the resort. Although the pool bars were busy, the service was fast. Drinks were cold and definitely plentiful. On Saturday night, there were DJ's playing outside at the Oasis Beach Club. Great music with a good party atmosphere. The only con to our trip was an incident on the beach (that was not related to the resort) that involved a shooting over, from what we were later told, drugs . Security, staff and police arrived quickly and guests were ushered indoors. Even with this incident, I would recommend this resort to anyone looking for a couples getaway. Based on the party vibe, I don't feel it's a family-type resort. My husband and I will absolutely be returning to the Grand Oasis Cancun next year!!

My son, Brian Manucci, and his two friends visited this resort in August 2013. My son tragically died while vacationing here. He drowned in waist-high water in the late afternoon after consuming a few drinks at the swim up bar. Both the media and I tried to contact the resort to obtain any information that might help explain his death. No one from the resort would speak with us. My son is not the first person to drown at the Oasis. Nolan Webster tragically had the same experience. Trip Advisor would not allow posting to help warn other travelers to the potential dangers at the Grand Oasis. "Hearsay" they said. It is not "hearsay" that I received a call from the US Consulate informing me of my son's death. It is not "hearsay" that I had to contact a coroner and make arrangements to bring my son home. It is not "hearsay" that I wired thousands of dollars to the coroner before they would allow my son to be flown back to the states. It is not "hearsay" that no has ever spoken to us about his death despite the fact that this has been reported on several media outlets and written about in several newspapers. Trip Advisor will now "flag" resorts with claims regarding assaults, thefts, etc. This is not just about assaults and thefts, it is about life and death. The Oasis/Grand Oasis is a dangerous place. Stay away.
