Truth is we have been here twice. The first time was July of 2017 and we just returned from our recent visit last week! My Wife and I enjoyed everything about our recent trip and I will say that the resort has improved significantly since our first visit! First off I would like to give props to a few of the staff members that made our trip special. First the bartenders Alshane and ( I know this is terrible but I believe his name was Richardo) took care of us like they were our personal bartenders! Always checking on us and offering us anything that would make our experience better! Damarius and Clinton were our butlers and they did a fantastic job! This was a major improvement from the first trip we had there. Our dinner reservations were always made and honored without problem. They also made sure we had what we needed to enjoy our afternoons by the pool! If you go to the Dips pool on the royalton side. Rickey is the man and will take care of you! We met Rickey last year and we made it a point to go find him to say hello again! The next is the lifeguard Jermaine C. Last year when the Lido was learning to crawl we met Jermaine. Although his job duty may be lifeguard he will do anything for you! We had the same swimout suite that we had last year! Room was awesome, bed was comfortable, a.c. worked great! Overall we thought the food was better this year! We never had to wait on a table at any of the restaurants. We enjoyed the paddleboarding and the beautiful beach on the royalton side. We also enjoyed visiting the hideaway pool bar when we needed something a little more lively. The grand lido pool area is way less crowded than the hideaway pool and does not have the activities that the hideaway does... oddly enough we would go to the hideaway pool for about an hour and then we would head back to the Lido side. Some of the previous reviews mention a problem with people not respecting the au naturel experience. This was not an issue while we were there, possibly because they implemented an au naturel policy on the main pool deck. We are not real experienced in these types of resorts but we were very comfortable. In a normal day we only saw maybe 8-10 other people using the pool area. Most mornings and late afternoon we had it all to our self! I do believe more people were staying at the hotel but weren't using the facilities. The only negative i would like to point out is my wife was turned away at Armadillo restaurant for wearing flip flops... but whatever she went back and changed. it was just a pain turns out that was our worst meal. One recommendation is to get some pool games going at lido side. Doesn't have to be much just something! Overall it was a fantastic vacation! We will return at some point but for now it is back to reality. Thank you Grand Lido for making.our vacation great

My girlfreind gave me a great surprise with a getaway vacation at this beautiiful resort. Great facilities excellent restuaraunts. Despite the negative of not getting the room she had picked all in all it was a great time. The staff are pleasant but not as helpful as one would expect from a property of this calibre.

Remarkable

My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel for 1 week and we enjoyed every bit of our stay. The room was extremely clean and the bed was really comfy. We had an awesome view of the beach. This really felt like home away from home. The pictures are amazing but the resort is even more amazing in person.

Fantastic!

Having a fantastic time! Service perfect, the entertainment at the C/O bar is very good, we even had our own foam party yesterday! The grill may not have lamb chops but the chicken and fish, delicious! The service impeccable, friendly staff. Definitely will return! Our butlers Meleisa and Averdan are the best!

Don't let the name fool you!

Last year we booked Grand Lido only to find when we got there it had not yet opened. We were given a complimentary week that took us exactly one year to schedule due to a total lack of communication with the reservation department. It was stated on the website that our room included transportation to and from the hotel...but the hotel would not pay for either the trip last April or the trip this April, so we ended up paying for both trips. The one thing that I would like to stress is that if you stayed at the Grand Lido before don't expect it to be the same. This hotel is just a gimmick to get the former Grand Lido customers to come back. They would have been better off and would have less complaints if they changed the name and didn't try to attract these customers since it doesn't even compare to the former Grand Lido. First, it does not have a beach, just rocks. There is a little grotto you can go down into but you have to take a very rickety ladder to get down to it and if there are waves it is very dangerous to be down there. The swim up pool is a joke. The pool has two layers to it, both long and narrow. You have to get out of the pool on top to get to the pool on the bottom to get to the bar. It is easier just to walk up to it. Good luck with the hot tub...it was either too hot or too cold. Speaking of hot tubs, we booked the Presidential suite which has a hot tub. This hot tub never worked so I don't know why we paid the additional expense to have one. The hotel management seemed surprised that it didn't work...when it was clear that it hadn't work for a very long time. We could hear a leak but the maintenance worker said it would heat up if we just turned it up to high for a day. Next day still no heat and we still could hear water dripping out of it. We just kept asking anyone who would listen if this hot tub was ever going to work during our stay and we could get no answer. Finally we talked to the young lady at the front desk of Grand Lido and she told us that her manager, Maxine Williams would like to speak to us either that afternoon or the next morning and she would explain what was going on with the hot tub. The next morning we were told she was called to a meeting that morning and would meet us in the afternoon. In the afternoon we were told she was called to a meeting and would meet us the next day. The next day we were told she was called to meeting and she wasn't clear what we wanted to talk to her about. WHAT!! We told them we did not want to meet with Maxine she asked to meet with us and we wanted to know what was going on with the hot tub! We were then advised that Maxine apologized, but she was not available and would like to offer us 25 minute messages. We didn't want massages we wanted to know about our hot tub so this did not go over well with us. Ms. Williams must be a very busy person to be called away for so many last minute meetings that take priority over her guests. So needless to say our hot tub never worked the entire time we were there because, they seemed to just discover that there was a leak! We told them the day we arrived! To make matters worse our Butler told me he was told to keep checking on the hot tub. He told me that he checked on it 8 times a day when he could be doing other things. Really? Not sure what other things he was doing because he did nothing for us. I would say the food was ok. To be honest it was better last April when we were here and the service in the restaurants ran hot and cold. Regarding the butlers there are a number of butlers who do a fantastic job. In fact our butler last year was wonderful (Averdan). However, our butlers this year were not in that category. They were worthless. The folks at the front desk were much more helpful then our butlers. But we do want to thank Beverly who took care of our rooms. Overall the management of Grand Lido leaves a little to be desired. It seems as if no one cares about this part of the hotel. The management will tell you to your face that they will follow up and take care of things, but they don't. It just seems as if they want to placate you until your trip is over and they don't have to deal with you anymore. So I would say be realistic regarding your expectations. Know what they offer and don't offer. Last year we were put in a room in the Hideaway section and that was a much better experience than paying the additional price to stay at Grand Lido...it is just not worth it. We were really looking forward to Grand Lido opening again because we had been to the old resort over 20 times. But, sadly, this will be the last time.
