This was our 1st time in Punta Cana and 1st time in this hotel. We went to celebrate our 10th anniversary. OMG!! We loved everything about the hotel. They have an excellent service from the time you get to the lobby to check-in to the day you check out. Everything is super clean, the employees will leave what they are doing to help you, activities all day, music keeps everything alive. The food SUPER!!! You want to keep eating. Bars everywhere. Kid friendly. Planning for next year.

Happy birthday to me, squashed tomatoes and tea! To celebrate my 40th birthday, my mother's 68th birthday and my wife's 29th birthday we decided to pack our bags and a few family members that chose to join us and headed on down to the grand Bahia Principe turquesa, in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. The Grand Bahia Principe complex is made up of several hotels, Turquesa was just the one that we stayed at geared for families. Members of our party arrived before we did so checked in for us and got our rooms organized. We were put in Villa 48 on the first floor in rooms 104, 105 and 106. We were a short jaunt from the pool and a touch further from the buffet dining hall. Each of our rooms had a in room safe which the cost was included in our vacation package. Each room came with slippers and robes for us to use while we were there and had all our typical hotel room amenities. The fridge was restocked daily and the television had a nice selection of both Spanish and English shows for us to watch. Our suite was two adjoining rooms one with two double beds and the other with a king size bed. The third room had a king in it as well. Each room had small shelves for you to store your clothes in if they didn't all fit in the huge closets at the front of the rooms. Then each had a sitting room and area for two chairs and a table. Local art adorned the walls making the room feel exotic and homely at the same time. Then at the far end of the room two huge glass doors opened out onto a balcony that was wonderful for just people-watching or basking in the warm rays of the ample sunlight. The dining hall was fun and always had something different amongst its offerings. Every night had a different menu theme and food selections were indicative of that theme. It was truly a joy to eat there. Often Buffets get stale and repetitive. Never was the case for this place. There was always something different and unlike other complexes I have stayed on where quantity seemed to outrank quality, this place had the perfect balance of quantity (never ran out of the thing it was that I wanted to eat) and quality (always came out fresh, hot, seasoned, cooked through nicely and quickly). Even though the complex is big there are a bevy of shuttles to whisk you anywhere on the grounds you wish to go and don't feel like walking. I enjoyed walking but taking the shuttle was a nice bonus. Most excursions pick you up at the lobby of the Bavaro or the Punta Cana (but your airport shuttle will drop you off and pick you up at your lobby so don't worry about that). Bellhops actually bellhop there. We checked in, our bags got offloaded into the lobby and the bellhop picked them up tossed them into the back of his shuttle and whisked us off to our villa in a flash - it was awesome. Do go shopping, the marketplace is just a few steps from the lobby. However, be careful who you talk to in the marketplace. The stage is there (check the schedules for nightly entertainment), the disco is there (opens at 1130pm), the Karaoke bar is there and there is a path to the medical treatment center on site there too. BUT, that is where the vendors hang out with their carts and they are super aggressive when it comes to trying to sell you something. I tried to be polite and even resorted to making up believable excuses as to refuse them softly but by the end of my stay I plainly ignored them or just constantly repeated 'no interesa amigo' hoping they would take the hint. If I wanted to buy from them, I did. If I didn't it was like pulling teeth trying to say no so don't be rude - be succinct and concise. You are on vacation, so do what's right by you. Tips go a long way, if you are treated well tip accordingly. The staff that tended to us where awesome from the get go so tipping them was easy and appreciated and it showed. Drinks are all inclusive so feel free to ask for your guilty pleasure. Drinks are not all inclusive on the tours. Our package included 3 'a-la-carte' dining options while we stayed on site. We chose (listed in order of preference not date) the Bavaro Beachside BBQ (Las Olas II) [Amazing], The Mikado (Teppanyaki) [Delicious but could have been more entertaining] and the El Cappricio (Italian cuisine) [Good eats but themeing left something to be desired]. The only two issues I had all week long were the unreliability of the room keys (we had to get several re-keyed over the course of the stay) and the Pool. The pool was great however, it closed every night at 6pm meaning no later night swims when the heat was gone from the air. Also, one night when we were out on an all day tour we came "home" to cool off in the pool only to find that it was closed early due to a submarine showing up earlier that day and it had to be cleaned. The kicker was that everyone was still around the pool but no one swimming in it and it wasn't until I went to get in that someone stopped me and told me that it was closed. Yet, there were no signs posted around any of the paths to the pool except for one at the far end mentioning this. Good thing I didn't jump in, eh? Anyways when i mentioned to the staff at the desk they took action to make this oversight up to me. Which was very much appreciated. Family and I loved our time here and look forward to returning in the future. Thank you for having us. We've been home for a day or two now and already we wish we were going back.

Great Resort for Kids

Just returned on April 9th, we had a good time here. Food was good, weather was great and the entertainment was excellent. When we arrived, we were warned by several people that there was an outbreak of food, mouth and foot disease going around and to keep our 2 kids (4 &1) away from the kids pool area and keep them out of the high chairs. Well even with taking those precautions both my kids got it. So for all the parents about to go there, be aware this is going on and wash your kids hands constantly. Other then that, I would recommend this place to other people.

Great Place but got robbed

Advise: keep your money with you or travel cashless, or use credit cards. The main disappointment is that we got robbed from the safe and management couldn't do anything, they had to raise it for the mother company which i found it unprofessional. They didn't take initiative to compensate our loss with excursions. We were left without cash and didn't buy any souvenirs from the market. All i can say shame on you for the management and the Bahia Principe mother company... As for the location, it is great for kids and family. The staff are friendly and they'll go out of their way to help you. Great atmosphere and vibe. Beach is few minutes in the shuttle bus and the kids water park is 3 minutes walk. Think twice before taking money with you.

A very nice vacation...

Let me start by saying I highly recommend this resort. We returned last night from 7 days all inclusive.   Rooms: VERY clean and mold free. Junior Suite was very spacious, it came with a REAL king size bed and a daybed which were both delightfully comfortable. Mini bar is stocked daily with water, pop, and beer. We had a pool and entertainment area view which was nice for us as we could enjoy the show from our room if we didn't feel like staying out (this may not be ideal for people who go to sleep early or have young children as it is quite loud until the show gets shut down at 11pm. There is a safe in every room which is free and larger than I had expected. The washroom is large and had good water pressure (hot and cold)   Food: It was good. I have some food restrictions so there was a lot of repeating meals for me, but the person I went with loved the food and had no complaints. The Garden grill and Japanese a la cart where both nice. I wouldn't give the food five stars but you definitely will always find something to eat and will be satisfied.   Pool/ beach/ ground: Pool area is very clean and a decent size. We went during a busy time of year and still were always able to find loungers by the pool whether in the morning or afternoon. The beach is about a 5 minute trolly ride away from the resort which isn't as bad as it sounds. We never waited more than two minutes for a trolly and you got to drive through all the other resorts. its visually a nice mini ride. The beach is busy and sometimes takes a few minutes to find lounge chairs during the busy time. Its very clean and well maintained, the water is beautiful and there are always staff walking to make sure any trash is picked up. There are plenty of beach bars so your never too far of a walk away from getting a drink. The grounds are very well maintained and all the common areas are spotless.   Staff: Overall very friendly and helpful, many of them will go above and beyond to help and serve you in a timely manner. Not all the staff speak English, but everyone gets by just fine. They definitely appreciate it when you try to learn some key words in Spanish. Yes, you do get a few staff members that seem miserable or don't give good service, but there will always be some people who are unhappy at their job **you may even be one of them ;)** If you treat them good and tip a few dollars they will treat you like royalty and that's the least you can do for how hard they work. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR... The bartenders in the lobby and pool are amazing. So FRIENDLY!  Excursion: We decided not to do any excursions other than going to the "mall". So I can speak for any of the others but I would not recommend doing that. First off...ITS NOT A MALL. You do however pass two real malls on the way there which you won't be able to go to. The place we ended up is about a 20-30 minute drive away from the resort and it's a small shop that's about 1500sq ft of what I would call a very expensive gift shop. I think the resorts make a cut of whatever you purchase there because they write down what resort your from on all the receipts. They have a better variety of items in the shops within the compounds of the resort so I wouldn't waste your time there. Overall I would recommend this resort and the other resort in this compound
