We had a wonderful week at the Grand Bahia Principe Jamaica. Even with the hotel being at full capacity, it never felt over crowded, we always found a place to relax and the services/staff were outstanding. The property itself was gorgeous and well taken care of. We could not have been happier with this choice and already referred 2 families that booked future trips here.

We had 3 rooms reserved for 7 people. Only 1 room had 2 beds when we had requested all rooms to have 2 beds (all girls traveling). One room got changed after 2 nights, the other did not. The room with 2 beds had NO A/C! After much wasted time complaining- that room got changed at 6pm on our last night. Three people with ONE bed.

Eastern airlines was late, but after finding out they were actually dynamic international airways who has one of the worst reviews for tardiness online it didn't come as a shock, honestly I was just glad they showed up. The hotel was horrible! Within 10 minutes at the hotel the bellhop attempted to extort me for money saying he would, "lose our bags" if I didn't tip him. The internal transfer service was terrible and he refused to do his job leaving my wife and I on our own to find our room. The room was dirty with hair all over the bathroom after we complained the room was maintained at a reasonable level. For those that have made it this far into this review: BEWARE the staff is extremely rude and racist! Expect to be put at the back of the line at bars and restaurants if you are white. We only had one staff smile at us. The rest would walk right through you if you got in their way! They wouldn't move or care they just ran into a guest. Also if you are a family that isn't interested in drugs stay away from this hotel! Weed, cocaine and heroin were everywhere! The hotel even had a special area near the beach for drug dealers to stand! Not family friendly at all. On our trip back Eastern airways was 6 hours late! A fine ending to a disappointing trip! Will never go back or recommend to others. Spend your money elsewhere!

We stayed here last year and had a few issues but not bad enough that we did not want to go back. The Grounds are beautiful, the hotel needs some TLC but it is still very nice. The reason we won't be back is simple. Our family tried to contact us and could not reach us. they were hung up on three times. To me this is unacceptable. The WiFi didn't work well, they need a stronger signal for so many users. It kept saying it was not available.

Excellent check in at the Crystal Lounge Travis was good. Kids Club NAOKA was great and always greeted my son by name and with a smile. Hotel was clean. Patio chair needs cleaning. No slippers in room, no wash cloth until after lunch the day after check in although we called reception and was told "shortly" Asked housekeeper for an extra blanket which never arrived, we somehow shared one very small blanket for 2 beds. Otherwise hotel was good, well manicured.

Warning! All-inclusive is not what you expect and this is not a 5 star resort

Make sure you know about the Adults only luxury side, unless you want kids everywhere. And the "all-inclusive" meals including restaurants means buffets and only two night of sit down dinners which were just buffets with waiters. This place was AWFUL! Room service was a joke, a menu consisting of only a burger (awfully cooked), hot dog (terrible), cheese pizza (only before 10pm and again, awful) or chicken nuggets. I am sorry, I was embarrassed to take my girlfriend here. Only buiffets for breakfast and lunch, unless you want to pay $50 per person for them to bring breakfast to your room which looked like they sent someone to the buffet to fill a plate and bring it to you. Mini bar had 2 beers and they brought two small bottles of liquor only on day one and would not restock those, even though I showed them the card in the room said they would be restocked daily. If you really want to stay here for some strange reason, get room only and leave for meals. Anything was better than what they served and honestly a five minute drive and there are some good places to eat. The "sushi" bar was food poisoning waiting to happen, the poolside swim up bar was OK but the service was terrible and if you asked twice they scoff at you, even if you waited five minutes before reminding them and there was no one else asking for a drink. The snack bar looked like something you expect at a baseball game, but that would be an insult to stadium food. Really, I am not exaggerting here, for anyone to say this is 5 stars is either being paid to say that or has no idea what a real 5 star resort is. Everyone has their hadn out for a tip at all times, even when I was told tipping was not allowed for all-inclusive customers. They say for the 'butler" service dry cleaning is included but really only for one shirt and one pair of pants, and someone jsut flat out lied when they said complimentary laundry service. Airport transfers will mean ytou have to wait for other people at other hotels and then drop them off along the way, and no one ever told me that I had to be ready to leave on my departure day at a certain time so I had to pay $100 for a taxi. My flight was at 2pm and they wanted me to leave at 9:15, probably because they were picking up more people along the way. When a resort says transfers included, I expect other people from my hotel, not from 4 other hotels! All in all, I felt duped and while this was not incredibly expensive, it was not worth it AT ALL!!!

This resort is small compared to their one in Tulum but it’s still beautiful. Our room was nice, most of the staff was great. Check in was pleasant. The food was good. The pools were cool and the drinks were strong. Although the booze selection was lacking, we had a way better selection at their property in Tulum. We were there celebrating my husbands birthday and they put a banner on the door and inside gave us champagne and chocolate kisses. The only complaints we had were that they should have opened a window in the main buffet because it was so stuffy in there and the last is that they seemed to clean our room at way different hours We would definitely stay here again. The island is so beautiful

Amazing Resort for couples and for kids!

This was our first time to Jamaica and also a Grand Bahia. We have traveled to many places with and without our children and I would have to say this is our favorite place so far we have taken our kids. The resort is VERY nice, clean well kept. The staff is very accommodating and we felt safe everywhere we went. Grand Bahia is perfect for kids! They have an amazing water park area that keeps the children entertained and also great shallow end in the large pool. I loved how they always had something going on-I felt like I was never bored and my kids were always interacting with staff and other kids. The entertainment they provide at this resort is the best I have seen yet. I spoke with a few other families that have time shares with Grand Bahia and they said the entertainment at this resort is the best they have ever seen. They are always interacting with the kids, playing games and getting the parents involved in silly games as well. Kids club staff is great and my kids didn't want to leave. Colorz is our favorite entertainer, great with kids/adults. Really good dancer and does crazy backflips! They have entertainment for the adults mid day and at night time I would say their entertainment was the best I've seen especially the synchronized swimming. My kids loved the beach party the best-they love to dance :) We will definitely being going back and we have never said that about an all inclusive before. There are a few different choices for dinner the buffet was good lots of choice but also the a la cartes were good too, all males must wear pants when going to the French restaurant-make sure you book dinners when you get there and if you can have a night without kids be sure to try the Brazilian! (on the luxury side) We went off the resort to do a few excursions, we did not book with the hotel as it is very expensive! We booked with Keymar from Inside Island Tours. We got his contact from a friend who went earlier this year. We filled his van with a bunch of other people we met at the resort and got a great deal. 50pp for Blue Hole (is a must!!!) and Dunns River. That also included lunch and a little shopping. We did luminous lagoon a different time with him. My family really enjoyed it-it was neat to watch, only 4 places in the world have this available. Our room was good enough-we didn't spend much time in it anyways so much to do. We were in 17317 which was ocean view and sooooo close to everything. We brought a stroller for our youngest son and he didn't even use it-we gave it away. Nightlife is also fun, they have a fun karaoke place and a bar to dance at at the end of the night. There is a buffet open all night-this is the only place the food was bad but not many people came there so they didn't supply much of a selection. Be sure to try the Patty's sold in the village at one of the stores-they are yummy! Only other recommendation I would make is if you like Ceasars, pack your own stuff! They only serve Blood Mary's so no Clamato is available for you-we brought out own. best decision ever! Also bring lots of tip money we didn't bring enough and had to use the bank machine 10 bucks just to take money out with the conversion to CAD Not much else to say beach is nice not too big and close to the resort. There is a little Raft that comes once a day you have to swim out to it to get food-he served all seafood, my husband said he has been on the you gotta eat here show. Unfortunately we didn't but a few people we talked to did and said it was amazing! There is a group on fb for this resort anyone lots of people who have been there or going there so questions can be answered on there too! Happy Travels!!!

Just came back today from 7 days stay at Grand Bahia. This hotel really needs renovation and requires kind staff. Staff at front desk and the personal relation was so bad. My 3-year daughter was unable to sleep in the morning or in her nap time because every morning they start some roof work at 7 AM and finish at 6 PM. When you talk to the front desk they talk to you like they are paying you to stay there. Every year I go to some hotel/island to celebrate my kids birthday and hotels gave special gifts and cake to my kid. Here I have asked for cake and they charged me $20 and I specifically requested chocolate cake which will be brown in color, they sent me a vanilla cake and when I complained they said inside bread is brown and they cannot do anything else. When you request milk in the bar for a kid they don't entertain to for 15 mins. I want to highlight I found 1 tall guy in Lobby bar who was really nice and giving us warm temperature milk every time I was asking. Now regarding food, they change the name of Cuisine every day - Spanish, Canada, Jamaican, Asian but all day dishes/menu will be exactly same with same taste so it's actually just a name change nothing else. No events in the lobby which I have seen in the most hotel every night. just a music for some time. No snack bar, if you are hungry just go to a restaurant for food. You cannot take out anything from the restaurant. This hotel really needs to change its standards and policies to come to the same level as other 4 or 5 star hotels. I have visited 6 hotels in the Caribbean islands in the last 3 year and this is the worst one. Only good part of this is water park for kids which my daughter also enjoyed it

We went as an extended family of ten people- ages 3-65. This resort offered something for everyone (water park for the kids, beach, pool/bar, casino, evening entertainment, etc). Everyone was happy! We had a hiccup with our room but the hotel was quick to provide an upgrade and kept us happy. For my daughters, one staff member from the entertainment team, Rashieda, was amazing. My girls will never forget her and ask about her daily. They plan to send her a Christmas card!

This was our first time to Jamaica and it wont be our last. We have stayed at other GBPs and have always enjoyed them. This one was even more exceptional.Oct 20-27 I will start by stating that yes the GBP Jamaica is big. That is why it can be such a bargain on a budget and you will get the biggest bang for your buck. They do have tram service, but if you like walking, even better. Especially here, trams were limited as it is more high rise, and others we have stayed at were spread out bungalows with constant tram service. They can be noisy and loud during the day. I really only have one minor complaint, and that would be by day 6 you may be looking for a quiet place. But even down at the far side of the beach by the nude beach there is still the thump thump of music, when sometimes you just want to hear the leaves in the trees and the waves on the beach. My favorite time of day was early morning, watching the fishing boats go out and the total peace of watching the ocean currents moving in. I also liked dusk and the music of the crickets in the trees. We got lucky with the weather and only had one night down pour, with sunny skies all week. We had absolutely no problems with this resort other than key issues the first day. We have always had some type of problem the first day no matter where we go. No worries. The staff were fantastic, friendly and service everywhere was excellent. We were upgraded to an ocean view from sea view and originally I wanted to be in Block 18 nearest the beach. But after seeing our wonderful view and great location in Block 21 we were happy to stay put. It takes some navigating and time to find your way around, but for the size we found our way around pretty well within the first day. Stick to the same one or two routes back to your room. Our room was beautiful with the most comfortable bed we have ever had, and the fridge stocked daily, great water pressure, plenty of towels etc. Our maid was wonderful and all these ladies work together and work very hard to make your stay very pleasant. The pools were always lively and a great fashion show, and there always seemed to be chairs available at anytime in the morning or late afternoon. Just before the main beach is a children's pool with some slides I wanted to go down. In behind here is the hacienda with shopping, casino, sports bar and disco. The shopping was decent and you can barter. As this was a total sloth vacation we only ate at the buffet and the beach restaurant. A few times we had lunch at the beach and they served jerk chicken one day, and the service here was good. Most of the time we went to the main buffet and the food was excellent, as was the service. We were fortunate enough to get al fresco dining every meal we went for. There are only about 12 tables outside the buffet on a nice patio and we got to know our servers and had some nice chats. We are not big foodies, but like to eat and we were very happy with the buffet and the food was varied and yum. From Lobster night, to bacon cheeseburgers, you will enjoy. And as for the shows, this is the first time we have never made it to the nightly show at least a few times. We would go up to the lobby after dinner to sit in the smoking area, with the intention of going. But than the live music would start up with a sax player or a singer early evening and than the band would start around 10 pm and we heard every version of every Marley tune ever made. And we meet a great bunch of people who were so much fun to hang around with, and the service here was fantastic, and the weather so nice, we sat outside almost every night until 1 in the morning. Excursion. My mate wanted to do something, so we did the catamaran with snorkeling, Dunn's River Falls and lunch. As far as excursions go it was a bit of a let down, for ocean time, but river time made up for it. The other difference from other cat rides, no alcohol right from the get go, until the very short ride back from Dunn's River to lunch. With the biggest swells we ever had making up for that, and the people we meet. And after doing Dunn's you will see why no alcohol is served prior to this visit. We left the dock and about 10 minutes out we had about a half hour of snorkeling, which was OK, lots of fish and some coral reef. Than we had another 15 minute ride to Dunn's River. This was exhilarating and so much fun, sometimes scary and worth doing. After you make it to the top you walk down the stairs. We bought the CD $40 US, and glad we did. I was able to get snapshots from the video and there were also pictures included I was able to move. From here we boarded the cat where alcohol was now being served for our short ride back to a nice jerk chicken lunch at the marina. The bus ride back was as wild as ever with a stop for beer on the way. BEACHES Depending on where you are staying, your mobility, the best part of the beach may be a nice walk, or a hike. The Luxury beach for those staying on the Luxury side only. The far east side of the resort, is a private, calm, man made cove, quiet, and even though we had no access to it, it looked nice for a float, a swim, and not that great as far as beaches go. Break wall surrounding it. The Privilege areas were a bit nicer, smaller, calmer man made coves, with break wall. The first two in the middle of the resort had a walk way dividing a small east side and a somewhat larger west side facing. The walkway down the middle is for all, to access to the gazebo and walk-able break walls on either side. One to the east big enough for a private wedding, nice venue. The thinner west side is great for sunset pictures. Decent snorkeling in this cove. To the west of the gazebo and Privilege area is an all access beach with picnic tables and the Dive Shack, with catamaran, kayak bookings etc. Keep walking past a bay or two, than a nice green rescue house/office, my dream house, than the sunset bar and further the beach buffet by Block 18. Just outside a few steps from the beach buffet is the third Privilege Beach which is another nice cove, and finally onto the main beach. GOOD BEACH Keep walking west, past the beach vendors (whom are awesome to talk to), the massage hut and you enter the first section of the beach for all guests. There is also a Privilege area here towards the back. Plenty of trees and palapas and a nice swimming area. If you keep going past the life guard station and on to the old road, you will still see the old asphalt on either side and the old crumbling break wall. BEST NATURAL BEACH Here you will meet the best bar tender Colin, there most days during our stay. And just past him down to the best part of the beach and it is the only natural beach on the resort. Lots of chairs and trees and palapas, a bathroom and another bar just before the nude beach. We spent most of our time on the far side (near the nude beach, which is walled, private with security.) It was beautiful with a nice breeze everyday and the swimming was great. Off the point near the lifeguard station, is a great swimming hole that you can jump in and float with the current to the end. We always found chairs and shade. Swimming was great. The water was so warm and always calm during our stay, you could stay in for hours. As far as a walking beach its pretty small, but not a barefoot toes in water experience the whole way. But we could walk barefoot the whole way back, past the dive shack to get to our room. Beware of the dark grassy areas and do not put your feet down unless you have water shoes on. We witnessed a painful sea urchin, spike extraction our first day. Around 1 pm daily a locally operated seafood raft anchors just outside the buoys off the main beach, near the buffet restaurant, with swim out orders for an overflowing seafood platter for $25 US. Also noticed a guy on the beach delivering chair side. They leave before 5 pm. This was one of our best vacations ever, and we loved this resort. The other guests were wonderful and we meet so many great people, and the staff were friendly and the service excellent. We will come back to Jamaica one day, but Negril is calling. Thank you to the GBPJ for a fantastic time and a wonderful first stay in Jamaica!! And shouts out to Jake and Lisa, loved meeting you guys and the rest of the crew.
