Poor service in the Snack facilities at the beach
Dec 09 2018
The hotel management needs to put more attention to the snack facilities at the beach, I went twice and in both occasion the same experience, not cleaning at all, the staff didn’t worry to replace the food in the buffet and didn’t worry in cleaning the used tables, the answer was that there was no more to replace.

Speaks English
Aug 09 2018
If you are looking for somewhere that speaks English this is not the place. It was a beautiful hotel, but it was extremely hard to communicate with them. It took 5 minutes for the staff to explain that they did not have enough change in US money. Also the food is not 24 hours, so if you are use to eating dinner at 5 you are out of luck until 6:30. Had high hopes, and was disappointed in it.

When we stayed at Bahia Principe in Riviera Maya in Mexico, our room was much larger and more equipped than our room in Punta Cana. We were nowhere near the beach, like was promised, and we were also promised conjoining rooms with our friends, but we did not. There were numerous mosquitos in our room, making it impossible to sleep comfortably. At an all inclusive resort, especially at the price that we paid, we expect basic wifi on the resort. Having to pay an extra cost just to be able to be on your phone is outrageous. Same can be said with no room service. The hours of operation for food being served at the buffet was not acceptable as well. The pool seemed like the only sufficient thing about this resort. The beach was filled with seaweed; nothing like what we saw on the website. When our flight was cancelled and we were transported to another resort, their beach seemed way up to par compared to ours. Overall our stay at this hotel did not equal out to how much we paid for a luxurious stay and we probably won't be coming back.

Everywhere we went the smell of sewage prevailed. The staff were wonderful. Food was mediocre and got very old very fast.
Jul 08 2018
We definitely will not go back. The stench of sewage was everywhere. The food was mediocre at best with the exception of the Kapanese restaurant. That was outstanding. Wish we could have eaten there all week. The staff were wonderful but we were very disappointed in the food, no ice for our rooms unless we paid for it. No room service. The sea weed was so deep you had to wade through 3 -4 feet of it up to your knees to get to clean water. It smelled of sewage and we only went In one day. Spent the other days at the pool. Quite frankly we could have stayed home and done that. So we went on 5 excursions just to keep busy.

Never Coming Back
Jul 05 2018
I have been to Punta Cana 3 times this year. This resort is by far the worst one. We had a group of 8 with 4 rooms. The air conditioning did not work in 2 of the rooms at all and the other 2 barely kept the room cool enough to sleep. The power kept going off multiple times a day. The good in this trip was the pool and the bar service at the pool That staff was excellent. The night time entertainment was not good and while you were sitting there trying to watch the production you were eaten alive by bugs even if you had bug spray on. I will not return to this brand of resorts. I did end up having a decent time once we decided to just make the best of it. Most of our time was spent at the pool and the swim up bar. The specialty restaurants were not anything to brag about at all. The mini fridge in the room did not ever get cool. When we asked the front desk about this he said oh they never get chilled, just cool. What's the point? No one wants to drink a hot pop or beer. I have a son who is a diabetic insulin dependent. Had he been on this trip I would have struggled to keep his insulin cool. I believe the Apple rating of 5 red apples on this resort is not fair. The other resort I have stayed at was also a 5 red apple and we had a wonderful time and everything was nice and clean.

Rude staff/Poor accommodations overall
Jul 01 2018
We arrived at this resort around 10:30AM. We had 7 people, including two children and three rooms total. When arriving, we approached the reception desk to check-in. We asked the receptionist if we could possibly get rooms around each other as we knew the resort was so big. We tipped the guy so that this could happen. Check-in wasn’t unt 3pm, so we didn’t expect the rooms to be ready that early in the day. Ofcourse they weren’t, but the receptionist assured us that they would be ready in an hour. They refused to give us towel cards so we can at least spend some time at the pool or beach. After going back a little over an hour, now around noon, the rooms still weren’t ready, and we were still refused towel cards. We were told to come back every hour. At 3pm after sitting in the hot lobby with mosquitos everywhere, we stood in the long line to ‘check-in.’ Our rooms STILL weren’t ready. Around 4:30pm, our first and ONLY room became available. We had all of our luggage brought to that one room, while continuing to wait for the other 2 rooms. Upon getting to this room, the toilet didn’t flush, air conditioner didn’t work, handle was falling off from the balcony door, and the refrigerator was not working. We picked the room phone up to call the lobby to complain about these issues only to find the phone didn’t work either. We then hopped on the trolley back to the lobby to wait in line once again. After asking what the receptionist could do and to see if the rooms were ready, the receptionist just laughed at us and was extremely rude. The receptionists did not care what anyone was complaining about and never apologized for their terrible accommodations. At 5:30pm the other two rooms were ready. In one of those rooms, there were no working lights in the bathroom and both rooms had many mesquites flying around. As days passed, there was not one single person who was nice. Food was ‘ok.’ If you plan to eat near the pool for lunch, BE CAREFUL WALKING! I slipped and fell on food someone dropped on the slippery tiles, but once again, not one single person came over to make sure I was okay. Would recommend the steak house, but overall, we would NOT recommend this resort at all! Save your money...pick a different resort!

Restful 2018 winter vacation
Mar 11 2018
Have been to DR for the last 10 years Have stayed at Bahia Principe 9 years. The staff and over all quality of the hotel and staff .. Excellent!! However I have noticed changes w/ the table wine, beverage mixers and food detail, variety and quality. Our room was changed immediately when we discovered a toilet issue, dripping ac and location not being ideal for relaxation. Evening entertainment was wonderful. Oh, ground transportation airport to resort was too too long. First on the bus and last off, 1 1/2 hrs later!! Next time we,ll take a taxi for $40. We just made lunch in the dining room. Overall a relaxing winter get away.

Beautiful resort.
Feb 27 2018
Beautiful resort, little bigger than expected so a little crowded. Pools and beach were well kept. Food was good but typical. The staff was kind. I thought maybe they would have more entertainment at main pool with games and crowd activities. Dance staff tried to encourage dancing in the evening which was great. Several issues with keycards not working so last 3 days we left room door ajar so we wouldn't waste time running back and forth to front desk. Love PUNTA CANA

Huge Hotel- lots to do and see
Jan 26 2018
The resort grounds were relaxing, well maintained, and large. There are several pools- 7 different lobbies and sections with an extended golf cart like bus taking you where you need to go. There is a buffet right on the beach . . . a few large pools throughout the resort. The food is good- some items better than others- but all in all an excellent value. The staff was kind, very busy, but all needs were met. There is nightly entertainment and information on attractions outside of the resort.

I stayed with my family in the Bahia resort in October 2018 and this was our best holiday ever. Closed complex with I think six sister hotels. All very clean and friendly atmosphere. Everyone could find something to do.

Went with a group for a wedding. Had a fabulous time. Resort is clean and well run. You feel safe and secure. Pool and Beach areas are well kept and enjoyable. Food in the buffet does get tiresome for dinner (breakfast and lunch were great). The a la carte restaurants we tried - steakhouse, Japanese and Seafood were all great. Best meal was at the Steakhouse. The entertainment staff are fun and engaging. All in all it was a fabulous vacation.

Lets start by saying that some of the employees tried hard specially the entertainers. The welcome to our room was a mildew smell and 90 F. Later a few cockroaches. The bed lining did not look clean. Our toilet had a leak and one of 4 nights they forgot to clean the room and after calling for housekeeping they never came. The bartenders the first day though that I was a local and basically denied service until realized I was not a local and asked the same question to 2 ladies next to me. Are they discriminating against local? No idea. Next day we asked for a drink and were told that the alcohol that we were drinking the day before was not available. When we moved to another pool we were served the drinks for the rest of the evening. No tables available at the buffet area and the server were too busy for us. At the time of check out the check out express was not available and could not use the spa after check out. We reserved ahead of time and offered to pay with credit card. Still the service was denied. No idea if they have a policy against blacks and locals but was nothing in the fine prints. Book with all this in mind.

I have only one negative after reading many negative reviews..housekeeping was not thorough..I had to ask for extra towels, the courtesy fridge was never stocked and basic essentials like toilet paper were scarce.. The property had 7 resorts..great pools, beach, room 4101 next to the beach..air conditioning great, the food is abundant but make specialty restaurant reservations 2 to 3 weeks prior by email. I am still here and our trio is having a great trip..thank you Cheap Caribbean.. Also, run to the beach early and grab chairs..or at the many pools.. For all the negative reviews ..no issues this is an island people..wifi is difficult..the good a little Spanish and cuban..but you get a lot for your money. The property is large, but trolleys are everywhere. Highly recommended..

So, a group of friends and I went to this resort from 10/20 – 10/27. First off let me start by saying the food was good and the bartenders at the pool for the most part were awesome. With that being said, let the truth begin, and please, no matter what they respond, know that this was addressed to them directly in order to give them a chance to rectify it, and they pretty much denied it all. Check in was probably the slowest I have ever seen in any resort/hotel. While we did have a sizable group, only having 2 people at the front desk during peak check in time is ridiculous. One of our rooms wasn’t even available for an hour after our arrival at approx. 4:30-5p. Considering check in time is 3p, this is unacceptable. Next, about 3-4 of the rooms had refrigerators that barely worked, if at all, and the AC in all of the rooms made the room barely tolerable, let alone on the cool/cold side. You had to put the room card in a slot in order for the electricity to work in the room. While I get saving energy and all, this makes it pretty hard to keep the room at a steady, acceptable temperature in the tropical climate. In addition, while room service was there to clean, they left the door and balcony door wide open. This not only let all the cool air out, but let the mosquitoes in. Of course they denied having an issue with mosquitoes, but I can assure you, I came home with no less than 50 bites, most of them received in my room while sleeping, and they took about 3 weeks to heal. They left a can of bug spray in another member of the group’s room so they could spray. But yet they swear there is no bug problem here. The mold/mildew smell was terrible. Now unfortunately, being outside most of the time, you kind of don’t notice it, that is until you unpack your bags when you get home and have to put it all outside until you can wash it. I wanted to throw all of my clothes away they smelled so bad. It was so bad, two members of the groups started coughing up blood while there, which stopped as soon as they were not sleeping in the mold filled rooms. Oh and who doesn’t put a bathroom by every pool???? EWWWWW...and do you really need to mop the driveways EVERY DAY????? Finally, one of the workers broke into a group member’s room. He sure picked the wrong room. My 6’10” friend just happened to be in bed since it was after midnight. That worker ran when he realized my friend was there. So nothing was taken thank God, but the resort is denying that it happened, and is even going so far as to say that my friend “might have left his door open”. Are you kidding? This worker was in his room, after using a card key which he had to jiggle around in the lock….why would he make that up? Book at your own risk. We won’t be back that is for sure, and if I can at all help it, I sure won’t stay in this resort chain ever again!
