Overall the resort is beautiful , food bland, people and some staffing rude , half don't speak English., hotel stay was ok , bit for me 1 visit to Punta Cana is enough.

The drink were very watered down and not worth it. The staff seemed not very happy and 3 times at the Buffett I was sorted a a dirty table with no fork spoon or knife. No one came over to clean and I had to go find the person to get a fork so I could eat. The Italian place was awesome!!!! The only highlight of the food.

The check in process was horrible, our room was not ready and it took a very long time to check in. We had to come back a few times to see if our room was ready. When we booked with Apple we were told we would have preferred check in, but that was not the case, that was not an option. The employees at the front desk were overwhelmed with the amount of people checking in at that time. The beach towel at the hotel was a problem the entire time we were there. They often ran out of clean towels. A couple of times when we went on excursions we had to take wet towels with us as they had already ran out of clean towels at 10am. We learned very fast that if we wanted clean dry beach towels we had to go get them at 8am.

This was my second trip to Punta Cana, but at a different hotel. I expected heat, but the rooms had fair air conditioning and NO air circulation in the bathrooms. The pools were very clean but there was only one towel pick up/return for the 2 pools and only 1 small bathroom for both pool areas. The beach was clean and had a nice breeze. The Apple Appreciation dinner was the best dinner we had all week. I thought the Italian and Japanese restaurants were very good; great food at both locations. At the buffet for our complex, it lacked enough workers especially in the morning. Had to wait several minutes just to get coffee. Once we made friends with one of the waiters, he took great care of us. It is unfortunate that with the TSA regulations, we bought sun screen (small bottle) for $18 but had to throw away what we didn't use. The cost of toiletries is high, but you are a captive audience. Obtaining the free wi-fi was difficult and our connection was dropped several times. For being such a large complex and modern, the plumbing system leaves a lot to be desired.

I was a little disappointed with our stay at this resort. While the grounds are very nice and kept up with, the resort is still quite dated. Our rooms air conditioner barely worked and the fan in the room is the only reason we were able to stay cool. The entire resort is basically outside so the lack of air conditioning after spending hours in the 85+ degree heat and the humidity at night was difficult. Also, the hotel didn't spray for mosquitos. All the "entertainment" was outdoors and you were practically eaten alive by the mosquitos! The food is terrible if it isn't from one of their specialty dining areas. All in all, very upset about the money spent to visit and the quality of the resort. May eventually plan a trip back to the DR but definitely won't stay here.

Hotel has an overall pleasant appearance but we were unable to get dinner reservations for days after our arrival and even then the times available were too late for us. Shows were also also scheduled too late at night. Beach was kept clean as were the pools. Staff was mostly friendly and helpful.

I'm not at all high maintenance but when I go on vacation I expect food and service to be good. The food here was awful. You only get 3 reservations for the a la carte restaurants and then when you get there it's basically the same food as the disgusting Buffett. The service at the buffett is a joke. We were brought to a table at one point with no chairs and no silverware, after being given chairs no one ever brought us silverware or water. I asked 3 people and was ignored. You are lucky if anyone even brings you water at your meal don't expect anyone to ask if you would like anything else to drink. Anyone due to the food and service I will never go back.

My wife and I were celebrating our 9th Anniversary. We have traveled to the Dominican once before. We could have not been more pleased on this vacation, this Resort and staff were very good and would recommend to anyone for future visits.

Great hotel complex very loud and in your face but great, so so so big its unreal and loads to see and do, swim up bar fantastic, staff great especially if your a tipper and the food is top notch. Would i go back....yeah and try other resorts in the group.

I stayed at the Luxury Grand Bahia Principe Esmeralda however I would often go to the Bavaro pool and lobby specifically because of the entertainment team. Super Sexy Julio, Deibis, Luis Berroa, Yonathan and Nathanael had such an impact on my week at the Dominican Republic. These guys have an energy that is indescribable. They always have smiles on their faces and they never failed to make me die of laughter. This trip was one of the best ones yet because of these people and they are also the reason that I plan on returning very soon.

As like other travellers we had been worried by some of the reviews online that we had started to read after we had booked. Firstly we can only review on our experience alone and I write with delight at the satisfaction the resort and holiday offered, this was our first family holiday in the DR, and it did not disappoint us. The resort was mainly filled with international travellers, and reading other reviews I can only say that they had booked the wrong resort for the money they had paid. For us the resort was perfect, it was the English equivalent of a UK 4* Hotel Chain with some added touches. The transfer from the airport was swift we travelled with TUI We were heavily bitten by mosquitoes (NOT THE HOTELS PROBLEM) so be armed with spray. Check in was perfect and we were greeted with a local drink. We were then transported to our Villa Block - We stayed in Villa 16 it was a double room with an adjoining TWIN it was a perfect location and both very large perfect for teenagers. The rooms are in need of modernisation but still a good standard and very clean - the rooms were cleaned every day, beds made and clean towels and a free mini bar with sift drinks beer and water. The beds where comfortable and clean and the aircon worked a treat as it was very hot in the day. There was also a free safe that kept out belongings safe all holiday. The pools are excellent and the swim up bars are well equipped and well staffed. We found the pool near to Villa 16 to suit us the best as it was much quitter than then pools near to the beach. The whole resort appeared well managed and we had no problems at all, all the staff where friendly hardworking and courteous, particular mentions to Jamie the Restaurant Supervisor and Jose "the killer" for looking after us so well during each meal. The Main restaurant was a good standard of buffet and was always a varied and fresh options to hand, The Omelette chefs are a must in the morning and a good tip is to wait for the fresh food to be cooked to the left and right of the service counters if you don't want what has been put out. We also used 4 of the restaurants which served us well but I think its safe to say that by day 10 we had had enough of buffet and food in general - Recommend a visit to a local restaurant called the Jelly Fish (TAXI RIDE) if you fancy a night out. Drinks offering was very good, we preferred table service in the loby so that you get Glasses and not plastic cups in the evening, so stay on your table and you will be served and we tipped $1 each time. The beach was incredible, lots of beds and we cant believe people complained about seaweed !! It was minimal and constantly being cleaned up, lots of security too. Being the average family we found that there was lots of posers strutting around but it gave us some entertainment. Entertainment was great and we visited the Village too. We also had 3 excursions - Deep Sea Fishing, Horse-riding, and the Trip to Saona Island which was incredible - Loved every thing just wish we had more time to explore the local area and culture. The resort is large and has mini resorts set within, from VIP areas, and Adults only - However we didn't need anything more than we paid for, There is also a jump on tractor style bus that constantly transports you when ever needed up and down the main areas from the lobby down to the pools and beach. Overall we loved it and will defiantly hope to return. Our top tip is - don't read the reviews and just try it for yourself ! The country and location are incredible and a definat must do holiday.

There from Dec 3-10 Pros: Beautiful beach, water was lovely and safe. Weather was mostly perfect. Waves got a little wilder when the wind picked up, hang onto your glasses and hat. It was a 7 min. walk to the beach from our rooms, but was very pleasant. The trolley went by every few minutes if you needed a ride. Several pools, all large and beautiful with good access to chairs. Swim Up bars for Happy Hour was very fun. Food was very good, great variety and good quality. Ate al a Carte at Dominican and Japanese restaurants. Not that much better than the buffet food. The Japanese chef presentation was cheesy but entertaining. Hotel Lobby was large and lovely with great outdoor seating to watch the nightly musical entertainment, which was mostly excellent. Lots of opportunities to dance. Bar service was fairly quick in the lobby and also had a coffee bar in the middle. Rooms were spacious enough and very clean. Only saw one little "critter" in our room. Every room has a small balcony and bar fridge was stocked with large water bottles and soft drinks. Drinks at the bars were very, very generous servings. I recommend bringing a larger go cup and adding more mix. Pool bars had unlimited water and soft drinks/juices for the non-drinkers. Went on 2 excursions, highly recommend the Safari Tour, you will learn everything you want to know about DR. The Boat Spa with Dr Fish was enjoyable too although getting there and back was a bit cumbersome. It is recommended to book through your airline agent, as opposed to booking through the beach vendors. Cons: Punta Cana airport is busy, inefficient and took a long time to get in and out of. Be prepared for that. Resort was only a 20-25 min. trip from airport. Very, very large resort, if we weren't at the beach before 8:00 am you didn't get a chair. Towels were supplied, but lineup could be long at primetime to exchange. All sorts of people staying here from families, seniors to young people. There were vendors on the beach selling all sorts of things but were not pushy. Beach toys were quite a ways down the beach and not many people seemed to be using them. There weren't any snorkelers or boats in the immediate area, mainly just bobbers in the water. Lobby and beach allowed smokers just about everywhere which is gross when you're not used to it. Book al a Carte restaurants early, they fill up quickly. Mattresses on beds were very firm, which I did not find comfortable. Lighting in room was terrible, had troubles reading a book. Have to pay $4 US/day for safe, not impressed. Wi-Fi was free in the lobby, but was a bit sporadic. The front desk was very helpful to figure it out. Sat through the beginning of a few of the stage performances but found them cheesy and left. There was a casino on the grounds but very tiny. Dominican towns are not conducive to exploring, quite 3rd world and unclean. That's why the excursions are good to go on, they ensure everywhere you go and everything you eat is safe.

This place tops the list for worst resort experience ever. From the moment we arrived, it began. We had booked and paid for 2 contiguous rooms six months in advance so that our children who are minors would be next to us. We even booked the rooms and chose rooms on the resort's website. On arrival we were told we had rooms in different buildings and that was the best the hotel could do, no explanation or extenuating circumstances of why our reservations were not honored. We requested to speak with a manager and were denied. I guess management is overwhelmed with so many complaints and problems they refuse to address anymore of them. As we entered our assigned rooms we discovered a blood stain on the frame of the bed, needless to say nothing was done about placing us in a different room. In addition there is quite a bit of mold in the shower area, and cleanliness in general is a problem. The food was mediocre at best, even the restaurants where reservations are required, are really nothing worth reserving nor standing in line for. Again, after making reservations for "las Olas" they informed us we did not have a reservation. The beach is small and if you happen to find a place close to the pool you have no view given the straw umbrellas are low and block the view of the water. Would not recommend nor consider staying at this place nor the brand again. Stay away
