Have been to DR for the last 10 years Have stayed at Bahia Principe 9 years. The staff and over all quality of the hotel and staff .. Excellent!! However I have noticed changes w/ the table wine, beverage mixers and food detail, variety and quality. Our room was changed immediately when we discovered a toilet issue, dripping ac and location not being ideal for relaxation. Evening entertainment was wonderful. Oh, ground transportation airport to resort was too too long. First on the bus and last off, 1 1/2 hrs later!! Next time we,ll take a taxi for $40. We just made lunch in the dining room. Overall a relaxing winter get away.

Beautiful resort, little bigger than expected so a little crowded. Pools and beach were well kept. Food was good but typical. The staff was kind. I thought maybe they would have more entertainment at main pool with games and crowd activities. Dance staff tried to encourage dancing in the evening which was great. Several issues with keycards not working so last 3 days we left room door ajar so we wouldn't waste time running back and forth to front desk. Love PUNTA CANA

The resort grounds were relaxing, well maintained, and large. There are several pools- 7 different lobbies and sections with an extended golf cart like bus taking you where you need to go. There is a buffet right on the beach . . . a few large pools throughout the resort. The food is good- some items better than others- but all in all an excellent value. The staff was kind, very busy, but all needs were met. There is nightly entertainment and information on attractions outside of the resort.

The air conditioning in the room was not Cold. We reported it to the front desk but there was no change. There were so many mosquitos in the room that we got hit up each night. The room had a urine smell and the bedding smelled Liked dirty laundry.

The drink were very watered down and not worth it. The staff seemed not very happy and 3 times at the Buffett I was sorted a a dirty table with no fork spoon or knife. No one came over to clean and I had to go find the person to get a fork so I could eat. The Italian place was awesome!!!! The only highlight of the food.

I was there 5 days with my boyfriend. Our first time there but I would NOT recommend it. The ac suckssss. They didn’t fix it. The service is horrible we called 2 days straight to get ice and no one answered. We needed towels it took 2 hours. Our tub not to even talk about. We took bird baths. The pool bar closes at 5:30 hello it’s called vacation! Just book else were. The 2 stars are for the location !

We recently arrived home from Punta Cana and this resort. We traveled in a larger family group of 8. Arrived around noon on an early flight and our room wasnt ready.. ok. We asked for towels at least to use pool, they refused. Came back around check in time 3 and our room wasnt ready for 3 more hours! Ridiculous. We had little kids who were tired from traveling all day. Not one person paid any attention, showed a care and were all very inconsiderate. Once we got to our rooms there was a multitude of things wrong. While the grounds are beautiful and beach is nice. Dont waste your money!

Check-in: Severe lack of interaction from the gentleman who checked us in. It was quick to get served, however, the process took longer than necessary. Not sure if this was due to him being new, as other people were checked in quicker than we were. Language: It is very evident that most of the staff knew very little English, and this was a barrier to getting things right, understanding and general communication. Room: we were in block 77, which is one of the blocks adjacent to the Ambar Green section of the hotel. Our room 77105 was on the ground floor and overlooked a hedge within 1 metre of the "balcony". We did not sit out on the balcony at all during our stay as the other side of the hedge was the Ambar Green's pool, which we could not directly see, but could hear all the noise from. The only plus was that it was not far to walk to the Bavaro pool, Il Capriccio restaurant and from a stop that you could catch the "train" to the beach / reception. The room itself had a horrible musty smell upon arrival. It appeared that it had not been used recently as the bed linen was quite damp to touch. There were a lot of live mosquitoes in the room - they obviously do not use repellent in the room! There were also a lot of dead squashed mosquitoes on the walls and other surfaces. The general decor looked old and dated and appeared to have been pained over multiple times as it looked thick, however, had not been done for some time as the white had not turned a dark shade of yellow. There was a lot of dust on lampshades and ceiling fan and unsightly dirt / marks on the wood of the bed, linen, walls and door to the bathroom. It is obviously not properly cleaned between guests. There were hairs on the bathroom floor upon arrival, which obviously got added to when the hair drier is based in the bathroom and mine did not get cleaned up properly either. The room was also not serviced every day - out of the 14 nights stay - we had 2 days not done. The bathroom had a lot of mould around the edges and the ceiling was bowed badly (as well as the ceiling between the door and bed area). The air conditioning was OK, however, there was a constant sound of dripping water (not sure where the run out was, as the air conditioner was in the ceiling area of the corridor area). The room was very dated and is in dire need of modernising / redecoration. Room bar: The fridge was kept within the dressing table with a door on the front, which got very hot inside. The fridge had a constant pool of water on the bottom, which then leaked inside of the cupboard. We were not stocked up frequently, but was supposed to be daily. Regularly we did not have any beers or the diet coke (I only drink diet drinks) Was initially stocked with 2 each of diet & regular pepsi, beer, orange and 7 Up. Pools & Beach: Beach was a let down. Constantly full of seaweed (not saying this is the hotels fault), which staff worked on to try and get rid of, but not nice to swim in! The sand had lots of cigarette butts, plastic straws etc. so was not being cleaned up. The pool by the beach was nice but can get over crowded at times. You need to get to both the beach and this pool early to get sunbeds in the shade. The Bavaro pool (middle) needs closing and re-tiling. It is obviously been patched up that many times as the tiles are uneven and is looking unsightly. There were a lot of missing tiles and broken off grout. Restaurants: Main Buffet - had a different "theme" each night, but was repeated week to week (mexican, dominican, asian, gala, spanish, italian and american). The restaurant looked dated and in need of redecorating. Was VERY busy and getting busier as the days went on. The food was very repetitive for all 3 main meals. None of the food is covered and there were a lot of flies landing on the food. Meat was often poor quality and over cooked making it inedible. The positive is that there is a lot of choice, so you won't go hungry. Beach restaurant: Buffet service, All open air, so expect lots of flies landing on the food. We only ate here once as it put us off and we didn't want to get ill. We didn't eat at the 24 hr food area as again it was all open and food not covered. Bookable restaurants: As we stayed 2 weeks, we had 6 bookings, which we did via the bahia app and worked well. We ate at Il Capriccio (Italian), Garden Grill, Tex Mex (Mexican), Maiko (japanese, tepenyaki) and Mekado (japanese, a la carte). Our favourite was the italian and we ate here twice. Our least favourite was the garden grill as we did not find the service there as good as the others. WiFi: Could not get onto the free wifi in the reception at all and this was at the beginning of our holiday when it was the least crowded time. In order to get access so that we could stay in touch with our daughters was to pay for the "premium" service, which cost $79 for 7 days across 4 devices (family package). The service was better but was still very patchy around the reception area/bar. Overall, this resort describes itself as 5 star. I would not place it above a 3 star ( we holiday 3-4 times a year). It is in terrible need of redecorating/repair/modernising. I would not recommend wasting your hard earned money at this resort - there are so many hotels to choose from. We won't be going back.

The first day was disastrous and jaded my view of the resort. Some of the best entertainment I've ever seen. Singers and music was great!! The Michael Jackson tribute show is a must see!! A few hiccups in the beginning but all is good now!!

We had a lovely ten days here. The only issue was the seaweed which is totally beyond the Hotels control. The beach and sea was covered with it and the hotel had people clearing all day everyday they even had a digger there collecting it and taking it away. About the hotel. our room in block 26 was cleaned everyday and we had fresh towel as well. There was some building work going on at the opposite Hotel but it didn't effect us as we were out all day. We eat at both the beach and main restaurants and the food was very good with lots of choice every day. The pools area had lots of beds and the beach did get a little crowded but we always found a bed. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had no problem using the transport and they always stopped if you put your hand out if you where between stops. I would definitely use this hotel again.
