Stayed here 4 days. The resort is lovely and they have the most magnificent pool that is huge and goes on forever which is wonderful after a hot morning in the jungle. the rooms are lovely but don’t expect anything extra like a pad of paper or pen. The hammock on the balcony is worth the trip. Great view from the balcony. Great free night jungle exploration trip with a great guide. The breakfast is great and a great omelet maker. You are pretty much stuck at the resort so you have to eat there. We ate in the bar 4 nights and I just sat they need to hire a new chef. It took over an hour to get 4 cold sandwiches one night. They were out of fish and all but one kind of white wine the whole time we were there. The hamburger was great so stick with that! Even with the bad food the location, pool, and hammock are worth the trip out there! Would go back!

We stayed at the Gamboa the beginning of October. It's a beautiful resort and in October is very quiet! The pool is great and the room was nice. Because of the time of year some of the tours were unavailable (due to lack of people). My only complaint is that the food is very expensive and in the down season there is noting to eat without traveling into Panama City. We loved our time at the resort and I would stay again. The bridge to the resort is a a one of a kind adventure.

Not worth it guys

I went from the city to have dinner at around 7pm. Im not picky, but dinner wasn't that great for the price, neither was the staff. No good internet reception. The band was great yet we had to wait 3 hours to get transportation to the city. Uber doesnt get there and regular taxis codt more than what a trip to the airport would cost. On top of that, the hotel's taxi service was 40 dollars , which is literally unheard off when you know the costs of transportation in panama. Overall , dont let yourself be fooled by the paradise surrounding the hotel, it is bait, the hotel itself is not worth it. And take my not picky at all. You can do a day trip to the area without staying in the hotel, which i highly recommended you do. Anyways, hope you consider other options because Panama is beatiful and you dont want to leave woth a bitter experience. PS The guy from the entry which is a good 300 m from the hotel , wouldn't let the cab we finally got to pick us up inside the premises. We had to walk pitch black those 300m to the gate. Baffles me still....

We ended up here because of a vacation package, and I am so glad we did! The resort and grounds are beautiful, the staff extremely helpful and accommodating, and the food is abundant and fabulous. The pool area is very large and also beautiful. We took advantage of the night safari and the Gatun experience boat ride. On both we saw 3 types of monkeys, sloth, toucan, crocodile, tarantula, iguana and more as well as receiving good information and attention. We had a great couple of days at this resort!

Birds & Butterflies but beware the bridge!

First thing; getting there. If you are driving, beware of the bridge over the Chagres river. There is a 9" trench in the middle of the carraigeway which I drove into in the dark. It damaged one tyre and one wheel trim. NOT THE FAULT OF THE RESORT. They appear to building a new one so I hope it will be ready next year. The hotel was great, the front desk staff efficient and friendly. The rooms are large and clean with a hammock on the balcony. The bathroom was also large with a great shower. Air conditioning easily operated and efficient The breakfast selection was huge and good quality. Staff were great Evening meals were OK and reasonably priced. Pool and pool side bar were great but it was all a bit too hot for me. Hotel offered various tours and trips but a couple were not available so it was just as well I had my (damaged) hire car to drive the famous Pipeline Road. (The potholes may have damaged it further!) My only complaint was that the room staff did not replace coffee pouch for 2 days until I collared a passing room cleaner.
