10 years ago Gamboa was clean friendly staff. There was nothing better than there Sunday Brunch. The hotel has gone way down hill. From the front desk, dinning service ,the nicest thing I can say is a housekeeper was the only nice person we ran into during our stay. It's a shame such a beautiful resort has turned into a dump. Go for a day trip for activities.

Very peaceful place

Our four night stay was very positive. The grounds are beautiful as well as the pool area. The fitness center has a selection of machines but after the first morning using them we opted for outdoor walking away from the hotel entrance. The food at each meal was terrific. The room was spacious and very comfortable. Kudos to the hotel staff at every level. It was such an enjoyable experience in the rainforest!

Holy cow! $88 for 3 MEDIOCRE AT BEST buffet lunches and one of us got a discount for being an 11 year old child. Come on! And there are not many choices besides salad for lunch: beef stroganoff; chicken something (?); veggie soup; another soup I can't remember (sorry). Some of the plates were dirty; I went through 3 plates before I settled. One dessert was swarming with ants...come on! The beef dish was very salty although my son liked it, and the chicken was okay but was a flavor I did not recognize and I am a world traveler. It was the sort of thing that one shouldn't put on a buffet unless you offer many choices because with this type of dish either you love or hate it. You shouldn't be limited to that if you don't eat beef. And it wasn't nice that it had been sitting out for a bit. The piece I got from the top of the pile was okay but another was very tough. Breads were stale - my group tried 4 of the 5. I will admit that the salad ingredients were fresh and there were plenty of things of choose from. Really the salad would be the way to go. (Don't look too closely at the salad dressing bottles...they're sloppy and leaking.) I can't stand the idea of paying so much for a salad I construct myself when really I didn't want a salad to start with. Our server offered us 3 soda choices: cola, diet cola and a sprite/7 up (can't remember which). He said it was that or water. No beer or wine or cocktail and no juice? And the servers are almost non-existent here. Hard to get my water filled. But here's the main thing: there are no other options. Literally nothing. No menu, just the buffet. And nothing close by. So just grin and bear it and PAY. The ladies room was not very clean compared to other places I visited in Panama and I changed stalls because I couldn't lock my door. I kept thinking, how is this a resort other than the view? And I will say the view is gorgeous. At least there's that. I would just die if I were staying at this resort and had such limited food options. I was lucky - just came for day to see the monkeys and the lake.

This place is DUMP!!! Panamá is Amazing. Panamá city is Amazing. When you come here stay in the city or in the old town. The resort is not what you want. Food options are next to nothing; the hotel has fallen apart, everything is dusty, the tours are overpriced, the food and the only option to eat is an on-site buffet overpriced @ $26 per person. Yikes, shouldn't have booked a room here for $150. Glad we stayed here for just a night, and nothing more. There are tons of amazing things to do in Panama, this is not one of them. Viva Panama!!!

Great location. Eating options very limited

Booked 6 months ahead, when we arrived for our 5 night stay our allocated room had a communication door with the adjoining room. Not good. Also no fridge in the room. As we had previous experience of the limited dining opportunities we had come prepared with bags of sacks which needed a cool place... front desk tried to explain due to "high occupancy" they could not reallocate a room there and then. However, insistence on our part finally managed to secure us an alternative room which was more than acceptable, and for which we are very grateful. First class surroundings and great walks. We had breakfast included so were able to enjoy a reasonable start to the day BUT lunch facilities are limited to yet more buffet food on weekends at Los Lagartos/Don caiman restaurant @ US 26 per head, or snacks around the pool or Monkey Bar. Evening dining is again, buffet food or snacks at the bar. Serbice is very hit and miss, you can get served in 2 minutes at the bar, other times you could die of thirst !
