Gamboa Rinforest Resort is indeed one of our favorite places in Panama. This was our fourth visit for two nights. We stayed with friends visiting from North America, who are birds lovers . The location is stunning, surrounded by the forest with a spectacular view over the Chagres river. The service offered by the staff is friendly and helpful. It is a pleasure to arrive an be greeted by Angel's help and smile, Luis at the Tour desk is very efficient. Alfredo at the reception is attentive to clients needs so is Shirley at the Corotu Restaurant. This time we were given our favorite room type again. A nice suite on the 5th level. The most fascinating experience once more were our three visits to the Sloth rescue center. Mr. Nestor Correa, the head of the Centre is a passionate biologist, his enthusiasm transpires in his presentations and explanations over their work and the rescued animals. We all enjoyed the aerial Tram tour and the other activities offered by the hotel. Having visited several times, we realized that this time, being high season, the crowd made it difficult for personnel to keep up with prompt service especially at the bars and restaurants. We noticed that the staff, though smiling, was working under pressure and this did not deliver a happy feeling to guests. This was the downside of our experience. Gamboa Resort is beautiful hotel in need of a bit more upkeep. Wishing to go back and find the old usual relaxed elegance.

I love bird watching and grounds around the resort are a paradise for bird and animal watching. We have brought numerous guest with us to the resort throughout the years but will be looking for another option for lodging nearby. I can walk trails and come back to resort without driving which made it so convenient. Unfortunately the resort eating facilities, room conditions and service is so horrible I will not be able to talk my husband into coming back. The service level has been deteriorated markedly. Definitely will check and see if it is possible to tour the sloth rescue center and be a guest at the resort.

I loved this place and you would too if you like peace, quiet, beauty and good service. We only stayed 3 days but I could have stayed longer. A perfect place for getting away and enjoying the beauty of the Panamanian Rain Forest. I loved the pool and the spa had everything you would want

A great place for a relaxing holiday

You can laze by the pool, it is greatly under utilized but a great pool. Walk the property with lots of opportunity to see and photograph wildlife and birds. It is very safe and very enjoyable. The food is OK. The Al a cartes are great

An excellent hotel in a fantastic location on the banks for the Chagres river/lake. You can safely walk in the rainforest from here and we say an anteater up a tree very close to us. We did the sunset lake tour, the lake tour, the aerial tram and the nature labs - all excellent and worth doing. Food is not great but it is just about OK if you are only staying 2-3 nights and like the hotel we stayed at in Panama City the water for showers/baths is not hot. ( We thought that maybe the weather in Panama is so hot they don't feel the need for a hot shower!) Service can be a bit slow but that may be a Panama thing. The hotel is best during the week, at the weekend hordes of day trippers descend on it and turn it into bedlam, so if you can try to stay Monday-Thursday. Rooms are great and the views are amazing - we stayed in a suite on the top floor but the other rooms looked good - do try for a high floor as the views are better but it seemed all rooms had decent views. Management are great, we had a problem with the a/c and they sent people to fix it within 30 minutes and worked until it got fixed. They were prepared to offer an additional room to sleep in if they could not fix it. Couldn't ask for more!
