Absolutely Incredible!

We enjoyed several perfect days here at the end of our 2018 Spring Break trip to Costa Rica. Having planned to do most of our excursions earlier in our trip, we saved our time here for enjoying the beautiful beaches, water activities and fun things to do at the resort. I'm glad we arranged our trip this way as it takes 15-20 minutes to just get off the peninsula which means more time in a van and less time on the beach. The resort was absolutely stunning, with views from seemingly everywhere. The grounds are lush, impeccably maintained and blended in beautifully with the surrounding landscape. It felt like paradise. Of course, the staff are what really make this place shine. Everyone that we encountered in Costa Rica was very friendly, but the staff at the Four Seasons were exceptionally so. They were always welcoming, gracious and extremely attentive. For example, the gate keeper at the resort entrance would see me as I started out for my morning jog and walk out of the gate house to greet me with a chilled water bottle to take on my run and would also have another waiting on my return. As it was very warm, these were most appreciated! The waitstaff was also incredible and knew just when to stop by to refill your water or bring you your next drink. We were particularly impressed with the hard working and gracious staff at the Anejo bar, especially Willem and Roberto, who were so good to us. Roberto hosts a rum and chocolate tasting, which was really interesting and we would highly recommend it. We got to taste numerous aged rums that had been expertly paired with different chocolates to bring out different notes in the rum. Roberto shared his deep knowledge and was fun to talk with both about rum and his Costa Rican roots. The fabulous rooms are huge and contemporary, but still with a beachy Costa Rican flair. The screened porch was the perfect place to soak in the view or read in the mornings or late afternoon. The trees in this arid tropical forest landscape are different from those we saw elsewhere in the country, with incredible branching structures that puncuated the views but definitely added to it, instead of detracting. The location on two beautiful beaches was the biggest reason for choosing to stay at the Four Seasons. This turned out to be invaluable, as one day the winds picked up on the gulf, with the water getting choppy enough that the beach in the bay that red flags were posted and the beach was closed to swimming and non motorized water sports. The other beach, however, was protected from these winds and remained calm and was perfect! Even with most guests enjoying only one of the beaches, it never felt crowded and there was plenty of loungers for everyone. The food was quite good but pricey. If you stayed here more than 3-4 nights, more dining options would be welcome, but you can take a shuttle up to the Andaz and eat there for a change of pace. My daughter's favorite meal at the Four Seasons was the fish tacos at the lunch time taco bar that opens in the afternoons above the beach on the Pacific side. Of course, they taste best having a mini picnic on your beach side lounger, but the taco bar has great views and is a pleasant place for a break from the sun. I believe the Four Seasons is updating the menu at one of the main restauarants. It's good that they are always changing things up to keep pace with evolving guest palates. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would love to return in a heart beat!

So, I cannot say enough good things about this place and I am actually hesitant to write a review because I'm selfish and don't want anyone else to know how awesome of a place this is, although...I suspect the word is out. First off, it's a hotel and the food is amazing...that in itself is something. And, it's not crazy expensive which is also a nice thing. The service...5 stars. We were a bit spoiled and had a private residence so it was obviously ridiculously great, comfortable, smelled of some kind of exotic wood, felt very, very posh and had wall to wall ocean views from all 4 bedrooms...need I say more? There were monkeys in the trees, iguanas on the ground, some kind of half raccoon half monkey animal en masse, jelly fish in the ocean...what more can you ask for? The kayaks, snorkels, SUP boards are all comp'd....the short rib sliders were to die for....we tasted rum, met fun people, and the weather was perfect...had a blast. Highly recommended.

Go if you can; everything about this place is fantastic - the facility the setting the service, etc. Just fantastic. Food is generally somewhere between mediocre and good (don't bother with the "fine dining" Pesce) however the wines are absurdly priced - 4-6x markup so a $25 bottle costs you $150, etc. but don't let it stop you! I would not go if you are looking for lively (or any really) nightlife, etc. This is a place to chillax hard. And not sure it would be good for little kids - older ones can swim and do watersports, etc. But great spot for a couples getaway for sure. Golf course is fantastic, just in need of some remedial greenskeeping, as some greens

Great short trip to the property. So much to do, and the service is outstanding. Food is top notch, and overall great experience with so many things to do on the property. Staff is very experienced in guest experience, and always available. Grounds are immaculate and the wildlife is awesome. Never felt crowded at restaurants, pools, or beach. Rooms are well furnished and they keep you stocked with water and snacks. Patio is comfortable and large for eating or relaxing. Pools are beautiful and service at pools is great, as is service at the beach. Only 2 small things would have made it perfect. Spa is under renovation, so the spa experience while in the Presidential Suite was nice, it was not a full spa experience. No sauna, hot tub, or relaxation room. Had to wait to take a shower before massage. Guess I should have asked more questions. Construction noise at pool area was a bit of buzz kill at times. But understand it has to be done. Could have turned up the music a bit to tune it out.

This Hotel was Amazing. Staff so friendly, welcoming and helpful. We were there at the start of their off season so basically there were only about 50 or so guests and they average 500+ We had perfect weather and as much privacy and attention as was needed or desired. Food was amazing. We went deep sea fishing brought our fish back and the chefs cooked it for us ~ cannot say enough good things about this place and cannot imagine it in peak season... We liked September a lot! Concierge arranged various excursions all were excellent as well as the complementary experiences offered by the hotel from tours to Mixology classes.
