My husband and I had a great stay overall at the Floris. The resort itself is small and well-maintained, and the rooms are pretty large- especially considering we booked a gardenview suite instead of one of their more high-end options. It's easy to find your way around, and during high season it seems like a place where you could meet other travellers and socialize during happy hour (I think we were there during low season so it was pretty quiet). It was really nice to have a little kitchen in the room; definitely helped save a lot of money on food by eating a few meals on our balcony throughout the week instead of out at a restaurant. Plus, the fridge was big enough for several beers and bottles of wine at once! Definite bonus. My only complaint about the room is that there was a slight gap between the large double-doors to the balcony/patio and the floor, so no matter what we did mosquitos managed to sneak in and eat me alive every night. I ended up with bumps all over my legs and arms before finally caving and buying some bug spray to douse myself in before going to bed. That being said, I happen to be one of those people who's like a beacon to biting insects, and my husband had no problem at all. I know it's a tropical place and bugs are a given, but generally we don't have a problem IN our room. So if you're someone like me, maybe just bring bug spray from the get-go. Other than that, the room was great and the bed was comfy. The housekeeping team did a wonderful job as well! The pool area is lovely- plenty of chairs, towels were always available, and there were spots in both the sun and the shade. There is at least one resident iguana who could often be spotted there too, which made for some fun nature watching. We tried a couple of their cocktails at the pool bar as well, and they were great! As for the beach, it's worth noting that Moomba Beach Club is actually located across the street near the Hilton grounds, but it's only about a five minute walk and definitely worth heading over to spend some time. It's a private beach, and was never very busy when we were there (and we went at all hours of the day throughout the week). You can rent a palapa for $10 US, and they're really nice, but there are also free beach chairs available which are cushioned and comfortable. The service at the bar/restaurant was always friendly and welcoming too, just like everyone at the Floris. We are big ocean people- freediving and occasionally scuba diving- and the little bay area at Moomba is definitely worth doing some snorkelling if you have equipment (I'm not sure if they have it available for rent there). There are plenty of fish to check out near the rock/coral formations, and the water is crystal clear with very little current most of the time. Although it wasn't directly on the resort, this was one of our favourite hotel beaches in the Caribbean. Location-wise, I would say the Floris was in an ideal spot on the island, although I highly recommend renting a car. We spent every day going from spot to spot, and the resort was essentially right in the middle between Jan Thiel/Caracas Bay and downtown Willemstad and a few other nice beaches and attractions further north. Downtown was only about a ten minute drive, and the grocery store was less than ten minutes away. There are also plenty of restaurants and shops a quick drive away. I've read that cabs can be expensive, but it was really easy to navigate the island on our own and having your own car while staying here really makes for a fun trip since everything is so close-by. All in all I would definitely recommend staying at the Floris. Everyone was welcoming and nice from day one, and the whole team there does a great job. Thanks for a great stay!

Misleading- Not a Beach Resort

The rooms themselves are simple yet beautiful. I really liked the set up of the rooms and layout of the property. But what I didn't like was how they falsely advertised this as a "beach resort" when the closest "beach" was a simple dock used for fishing boats. We also noticed that when sitting in the restaurant, which lacked any authentic or real food (most filling thing they had was nachos), staff only served black folks. They would not come near us, we had to go to them for food. Overall, it's a nice hotel just not in a proper location to be considered a "beach resort." If you're willing to rent a car like we had to and drive around then you'll appreciate your stay here.

Great place to stay in Curacao!

Wonderful hotel! My friend and I stayed at Floris for 5 nights and enjoyed our time there. The staff were all friendly and very helpful with any requests we had. The rooms are clean, spacious and had all amenities you will need for your stay. We had breakfast at the hotel several times and were happy with the food and service. The staff is available to take you by golf cart or van to the beach or to the two restaurants just down the street. All within a pleasant 5 minute walk anyway (which is what we did several times). The location is perfect and it's an easy drive from Floris to anywhere you want to see on the island. Large grocery store is about a 5-7 minute drive away. Definitely rent a car when visiting Curacao. I loved this island, and the people at Floris Suite Hotel were a big part of making my trip a success!

My boyfriend and I made a 4 night reservation here and it was great!! Ryan was amazing!!! By the end of the trip he felt more like a new friend than a host. Even though it was a gay resort we never felt out of place or neglected as a straight couple. Loved the vibes! Only real suggestion and its more of a general curaçao suggestion... RENT A CAR! You need to explore and the cabs get pricey. Definitely would return. THANK YOU RYAN AND FLORIS!

I want to point that this hotel is a little gem for a couple of nights away...we really relaxed and felt at home knowing it was LGBT friendly but not with the seediness that one sometimes see in this type of sense...We woke up to our room flooded with sewerage from the toilet however i went straight outside told the housekeeping staff who quickly stepped in to alais our anxeities and group of staff including the bellman cleaned up everything so I am thankful for quick reaction "for the price" its excellent A few downsides but would not deter us from staying again 15 usd on beach for beds under the umbrella wooden statues when we paid another 65usd for food and drinks seems a little steep i would suggest giving them free if customers have food and drinks Thankyou for a good stay !
