We spent 2 weeks over the holidays at this resort and the staff really are what makes this place as they are always smiling, friendly, helpful and high energy so kudos to them for making the resort what it is. The NY eve dinner gala was absolutely incredible and the staff worked so hard to make that happen for all the guests and was the best one i have seen yet and we always travel over the holidays. The rooms are very basic and sure could use more storage drawers especially when travelling with kids/teens. The family rooms are very close to the nightly entertainment so do not expect quiet until 10:30 or 11:00 pm at night which is not ideal. The bathroom really does need a privacy curtain by the sinks so that you can change in private as the shower and toilet are in separate rooms but there is no where to change which is not ideal with teens. The buffet the first week had more variety we found as after the NY eve gala it seemed the left over food was recycled thru both buffets over and over again. It was difficult to get restaurant reservations as if you were not there before 10 am you could get nothing and could only book one day in advance. We did manage one visit to each restaurant and enjoyed all of them. The beach did have garbage and seaweed that they cleaned every morning, but the towel hogs are out in full force with towels being placed on pool loungers yet nobody showing up to use them until 3-4 in the afternoon. There needs to be a limit on this as there are so few seats and then to have them saved and unused all day is frustrating. Our Sunwing Rep Jonathon was beyond helpful so he is an asset to the hotel as well.

My girlfriend and I stayed at the resort for 4 days at the end of a 10 day trip to the D.R. I throughly enjoyed it. We had a hiccup at the beginning of the trip in which they gave us a room with 5 beds. ??? there were two of us and my girlfrinds sister and her son got a room at the last minute. I assume they thought we were staying together? This was quickly corrected and we received a very nice suite in the adult section. The staff was wonderful and all the food was good. There was a wide variety as well. We also got reservation for each night for the gourmet dinners. The first night was Italian. The food was excellent. We asked for wine and we were brought a bottle of red wine and white wine. The worst bottles of wine I have ever drank. We then had to buy a bottle of wine ourselves. Its a gourmet dinner and they serve cheap gasoline flavored wine. Come on Emotions, step it up, its an easy fix. The next night we had the dominican dinner. My girlfriend is Dominican and she said it was up to her standards except for the wine. The waiter did offer me lemoncella which was very good. The beach was very nice. We were able to walk about a mile and it was beautiful. There was some garbage along the walk but at the resort it was clean. I stayed in the city prior to coming to Emotions and the beaches there are beautiful but there was garbage all over. The people just don't clean up after themselves. SAD! I throughly enjoyed Emotions and I would return. Thank you to the Emotions staff for making the end of my trip worth coming to the Dominican Republic .

We landed in Punta Cana and expected a 2 hour ride to the resort. The cab had us there in 80 minutes at 140 kms an hour. Scary ride there and even worse returning to the airport. We were greated nicely and got our room right away. We paid the Superior Room prices through Sunwing and the most we had ever paid for an all inclusive in Dominican or Cuba so we expected something special. The staff are their best asset, very energetic and friendly and lots of them, they catered to your every need.5 Star staff. Keep up the good work. Food was very good , good choices and good flavour, we had the buffet all the way. 4.5 star.Good meal service from the staff. Our room had it's problem, we were in a bugalow towards the back of the resort. The coffee machine did not work the first morning we were there. We like our coffee outside our room in the morning. We got a new one and tried a coffee the next morning but no milk or creamers and the coffee was very weak even by Canadian standards. The toilet seat came off twice and had to be repaired. We had to run the showers for at least 10 minutes before we got warm water. The shower leaked so much we put towels on the floor to stop the flood of water into the main room. The problem seemed to also be because of a partially plugged drain. We were always out of towels because of this. They did come to fix the problem and we were settled in for the night when a thunder storm hit the area. My wife got out of bed to and inch of water on the floor over the entire room. Under the beds and onto our luggage. Shocking!!! It was comming in the front and patio doors. We evacuated with soaked luggage and moved to another room on the second floor. This was an upgrade for our inconveniences. This room had the art work you see in their promotional material, Walls were bare in the previous room. A chair to sit on , none in the other room. This room is what we expected when we checked in. So the first room should not get a star. Zero. Beach on the Emotions property was very nice. Maybe 200 yards long and kept clean. Lots of chairs a nice beach bar and a shaded area under some nice palm trees. Do not be fooled, the cabana area is an upgrade and the adult area is an upgrade and the beach pool area and cushioned beds are an upgrade. Can not have a bottled beer without going and paying 5$ for it in the lobby area sports bar???? We like to walk the beach when we travel. The neighbouring properties from this resort were not resorts and do not clean their beaches.Awefull,Awfull, Awefull dirty.Plastic, bottles, styraform containers of all shapes and lots of them. A total let down, you can not turn a blind eye to this. Ships must still dump their garbage, why do the local people not do something about this. Why am I the only one to write about it. Peddlers selling continually, leaving one uncomfortable at times, we did support. Beach at resort 4 star, walking beach 1 star. We travel south for 6 weeks a year and do not usually write reviews,90% of Canadians never complain about anything, I see a need to do so on this trip so people can be aware of what we experienced and management at the Emotions resort will take the time to look into our issues for their own improvement. a very generous 3star for the Superior package and 3.5 on the upgrade.

Visited January 2018, family with two kids. PROS: - staff, very kind and professional (Xiomara and Clara for the kids club were great) - resort setting and walkability. Buildings in a tropical garden, great to stroll around. - generally rooms and public areas are clean and well maintained - food at the buffet is very good, especially the juice bar in the morning - the beach is wide and plenty of shadow CONS - for God sake, install coat racks in the rooms! If travelling with kids, the room looks like a refugee camp in no time, need racks! - be careful when walking into the ocean at the beach. Plenty of pointy rocks and shells that can hurt your feet! Overall, nice experience and a very well managed hotel!

Just got back with my boyfriend from Emotions by Hodelpa and I loved it. The staff are all very sweet and helpful. We stayed at the adults only building, which has its own quiet pool area. The resort is very small, which makes getting from one place to another very quick. The food was delicious at the buffet, but not too much choice. A la carte restaurants were very nice, my favorite was Dominican restaurant. The beach is not bad but there were a lot of rocks in the water, so watch where you step. Entertainment was ok. It would have been better if they payed music all day, but they only played music during stretching and water aerobics. The DJ at the Disco needs a better Playlist. A lot of the music was 90s pop. I was hoping to hear more Spanish music. Otherwise, the resort is beautiful! The rooms are nice and modern. Good resort for a family with kids.
