Perfect for our trip!
Mar 12 2016
We had a great trip to St Thomas! Emerald Beach is very close and convenient to the airport, easy check in, on the beach with a beverage 15 minutes after we grabbed our luggage. The staff was professional and welcoming. All the rooms are beachfront. The " Blue Flag" designated beach is beautiful and was not crowded til the big cruise ships docked mid week. The beaches in St Thomas are all public and Emerald Beach is close by for the cruisers seeking a day on the sand. The facilities were clean, though ocassionally a bit worn. Taxis readily available ....~$6/person to town, ~$10-15/person to Red Hook for charters. Never wished we had rented car. This isn't the Ritz but we didn't want to pay Ritz prices. Excellent value for the price point. Will definitely stay here again.

First retirement vacation

I only have a couple of complaints. Having arrived in early afternoon our check-in time was not until 4:00 pm. Although the food in the restaurant was good it was rather pricey. Other than that we had a very pleasant stay.

Everyone at the hotel were very nice and helpful. The hotel was very old but updating some, room was clean but would have loved a microwave. No beach activities, they could have done so much more, music, waiters at the beach and pool would have been perfect. Around the beach needs cleaning up a bit, junkie looking. Sunday people invaded the beach and pool arean that were not staying there, we were told that to outsiders chairs were &$7 but was not practiced. Hotel is very convenient to shopping, etc.

Stay at Best Western Emerald Beach

We just returned from our vacation and had a wonderful time. The view from the hotel room was beautiful. The room was very nice and roomy and there were plenty of electric outlets, closet space and sinks. There were only two minor problems which were addressed immediately. The food in the restaurant was very good and we enjoyed the open air seating. there were plenty of lounges and umbrellas on the beach and at the pool.

Would recomend Emerald Beach Resort to others!

All the rooms had beautiful ocean view. No waves, warm ocean water, sandy beaches without rocks! No elevators, but liked being on the second floor, for privacy and safety. The resort was not fancy/sofisticated but we were comfortable. Free WiFi and free internet available to guests .Beachcomber restaurant next to our resort good food! We were worried because the airport is located across from the resort. Airport closes at 7:00 and a handful of planes land and depart. Room was comfortable, radio alarm clock in room, a small refrigerator and two luggage racks! Clean beach towels were not always available. Resort was not fancy/sofisticated but we were comfortable. Tropical Tour Staff was punctual and friendly!

First the good - great view and great beds. That's about it. The place is dirty, and not just sand from the beach, general dirt, especially the bathroom. Granted they're still recovering from hurricanes, but litter around the property could be picked up. The front desk told us we could buy postcards at the Boutique; it was never open while we were there and looked like it hasn't been open in ages. There is no elevator, so if you're on the 3rd floor and have luggage, you're out of luck. The food is expensive & mediocre. A glass of ordinary club soda for $3! The bathroom towels are grey, not white. Very dingy. The shower water ranged from ice cold to scalding within the space of seconds. The in-room fridge makes a loud buzzing sound each time it goes on. In short, they're charging Ritz Carlton prices for a Motel 6 experience. But staff member Ryan was terrific - friendly and helpful.

The Worst - they did not honor our paid reservation

Despite having prepaid for our hotel we were told upon arrival that they had no rooms left because other guests (contractors) had extended their stays. While I was discussing the matter at reception, I overheard numerous complaints from current guests that there was no water AGAIN. They did try to accommodate us by offering us a room across the bay at another hotel that was severely damaged in the hurricane. Half of those rooms did not have windows or doors allowing for all manner of pests to enter into that run down hotel.

Don’t expect much

I stayed for one night. I travel every week and this one was the dirtiest and poorest maintained. The sheets are very rough so no sudden moves. Paint fell during my shower. They left the window to the bathroom open and bugs were every where. Over all its not somewhere you can relax. Outside was nice and they have alot of work going on. I thank them for being open but maybe they should take some time to clean up the inside.

The Emerald Beach Resort was hurt by the hurricanes, but they have come back strong. The hotel was in good shape, the beach was beautiful, the restaurant was delicious for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the staff was great. If you look close, you can still find some damage, but don't blink, because by tomorrow that damage will be gone. They are fantastic, hard working people ! Their beach bar overlooks Lindbergh Bay. It is the quintessential classic Caribbean view that makes you want to jump right in!

Lovely, quiet beach.

Even though this property has damage from the recent two hurricanes, the beach is still lovely. The bar/restaurant is still operating even though the roof was damaged. With white sand, trees for shade, and beach chairs for rent, this spot is one of the best kept secrets on St. Thomas. All beaches are public so there is no problem just spending the day. We did not stay at this resort. We were on a cruise ship and just came for the day to enjoy an almost tourist free beach.
