Had an amazing time

We really enjoyed our stay at the Emerald Beach Resort. We were there with our two kids aged 3, and 6. The kids had a blast at the beach, and pool. The beach, and sunset is one to die for. Our vacation was one of relaxation, and leisure. The hotel staff is very friendly, and helpful. We’ve also had a great conversation with Joel, the hotel manager. He asked us how our stay was going. Little did we know that the hotel we were staying at was greatly damaged by Huricane Irma, that hit less than a year ago, at the time of our stay. We were amazed at how nicely the hotel looked, and how positive, and happy everyone was, considering the extensive damage. The food was good, we really liked the sushi in particular, and enjoyed the happy hours. The best part was that it was a kid friendly hotel, the kids could enjoy, and so could we. We definitely recommend this hotel, and will return in the future.

The front staff was very pleasant and accomodating, and the beach itself is BEAUTIFUL (just bring footwear for the rocks), but I should have known something was up when I was handed a piece of paper stating that "A safe is provided in the closet in all guest rooms which we encourage you to use." I asked if they had a problem with theft and was told no. When I got to my room I found the safe did NOT work; and I promptly informed the staff. If anyone did check it out, it was never repaired. I also want to note that the toilet did not work properly and the hotel restaurant charged too much $$ for watered down drinks. However, my main problem with this resort is its managing director, Joel Kling. The morning I checked out of the hotel I noticed my earrings were not in my bag where I had left them. I never took them out of the room; in fact I never took them out of the bag. So I didn't lose or misplace them. I reported this to the lady at the front desk who was very apologetic. She questioned the cleaning lady, etc and spoke to the managing director. When I spoke to that same managing director he couldn't have cared less. He said there would be an investigation and that he didn't know what I expected. I told him I expected not to be robbed. I told him about the safe not working and that I never took the earrings out of the room. Long story short, I was charged full price for the hotel stay and barely got an apology from the guy. He told me I could file a police report, which I did. And upon doing so one of the police officers mentioned him by name when I told them where I had been staying, shook her head and asked "when is this going to stop?" According to the police, this resort is KNOWN FOR THEFT and this MANAGING DIRECTOR is known not to care, much less do anything about it. I was told by the police others have had much more stolen from them than I did and never got any of their belongings back. So ... if you want to check out the beach, go ahead; but if you want to leave your hotel with exactly what you showed up with, SLEEP SOMEWHERE ELSE. DO NOT STAY HERE.

Perfect location on a nice beach, service is great

it's really hard to rate this Hotel/Resort but I will list out the pros and cons as best as I can Pros: - On the beach really nice location - cleaning service is good - good bang for the buck - all rooms have a balcony facing the beach - nice bar - nice restaurant - free wifi although slow. cons: - towels are not new, most their towels are grey in color, they should be white but they've seen some beating. - vending machine was empty first couple of days then they were restocked with 4 or 5 options - no free breakfast and their restaurant has an expensive menu for breakfast - no free shuttle to the airport but its within a 10 minute walk - beach is not completely private locals can go in there sometimes and from my experience we had trouble with a local that wouldn't stop cussing out loud at everyone , hotel management did nothing about it, they didn't even send their security (if they have any) and we had to call the police. - TV had only 10 working channels ( supposed to be cable tv). - they snorkel/kayak place is kind of expensive. - gift shop has really nothing to buy. summery: if you're there just to sleep and lay on the beach that place has all you need, easy access to beach with beach chairs and umbrellas, easy access to a bar, easy access to a good restaurant with good food, I recommend the grouper and jerk chicken its very good, but if you're looking for more out of a hotel that place isn't for you. one last note, you can check out and have them hold your baggage for you at the front desk until you decide to head to the airport in case you have a late flight and you want to spend sometime downtown I thought that was nice of them.

Great beach bar near the airport

I think that Emerald Beach is the only open resort on the beach near the airport This resort has a seriously good beach bar just steps from the sand ... the dinning facilities have open views of the beach ... unfortunately, both the bar and the dining room are understaffed which equates to lousy table service unless you sit at one of the two bars ... The rooms have been remodeled and are spacious and really comfy ... they also have great views if the beach .. I will certainly stay there on my next vacation in the USVI's

Recreating memories

This resort has fully recovered from the storms and is nicely remodeled. I got married here almost 8 years ago and my photo lives on. This is also conviently located near the airport, shopping, and our $1 safari bus route, which takes you around most of the island and is only $1-2 depending on if you stay in town or venture into country (Tutu, or Redhook). You're sure to enjoy the memories created here too!
