Perfect for our trip!

We had a great trip to St Thomas! Emerald Beach is very close and convenient to the airport, easy check in, on the beach with a beverage 15 minutes after we grabbed our luggage. The staff was professional and welcoming. All the rooms are beachfront. The " Blue Flag" designated beach is beautiful and was not crowded til the big cruise ships docked mid week. The beaches in St Thomas are all public and Emerald Beach is close by for the cruisers seeking a day on the sand. The facilities were clean, though ocassionally a bit worn. Taxis readily available ....~$6/person to town, ~$10-15/person to Red Hook for charters. Never wished we had rented car. This isn't the Ritz but we didn't want to pay Ritz prices. Excellent value for the price point. Will definitely stay here again.

I only have a couple of complaints. Having arrived in early afternoon our check-in time was not until 4:00 pm. Although the food in the restaurant was good it was rather pricey. Other than that we had a very pleasant stay.

Everyone at the hotel were very nice and helpful. The hotel was very old but updating some, room was clean but would have loved a microwave. No beach activities, they could have done so much more, music, waiters at the beach and pool would have been perfect. Around the beach needs cleaning up a bit, junkie looking. Sunday people invaded the beach and pool arean that were not staying there, we were told that to outsiders chairs were &$7 but was not practiced. Hotel is very convenient to shopping, etc.

We just returned from our vacation and had a wonderful time. The view from the hotel room was beautiful. The room was very nice and roomy and there were plenty of electric outlets, closet space and sinks. There were only two minor problems which were addressed immediately. The food in the restaurant was very good and we enjoyed the open air seating. there were plenty of lounges and umbrellas on the beach and at the pool.

Would recomend Emerald Beach Resort to others!

All the rooms had beautiful ocean view. No waves, warm ocean water, sandy beaches without rocks! No elevators, but liked being on the second floor, for privacy and safety. The resort was not fancy/sofisticated but we were comfortable. Free WiFi and free internet available to guests .Beachcomber restaurant next to our resort good food! We were worried because the airport is located across from the resort. Airport closes at 7:00 and a handful of planes land and depart. Room was comfortable, radio alarm clock in room, a small refrigerator and two luggage racks! Clean beach towels were not always available. Resort was not fancy/sofisticated but we were comfortable. Tropical Tour Staff was punctual and friendly!

Nice Place to relax by the beach

My friends and I stayed here at this hotel and the front desk staff were great. Hillori, Ajahni and Shanice they treated us superbly. They went above and beyond to make our stay outstanding. They are still recovering from the hurricanes but they sure don't let you fell like it. The beach is clean and the pool is also clean. We will be returning to this hotel very soon. TWO THUMBS UP FOR THIS PLACE!!

I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. There seems to be lots of locals that use the pool to hangout and therefore no room for the paying guest. No place to rinse feet when leaving the beach. Guest room with a door that doesn’t seat or lock properly. They have placed duct tape on it. Trash along the walkways. Food was just average but the wait staff was extremely slow. Never offered to get any additional drinks for the table. Not a place to stay if you’re instered in walking around to explore the area.

Hurricane Irma/Maria Recovery 2017-2018

Emerald Beach Resort was badly hit by both hurricanes; however, they fixed as much as they could in order to serve the temporary housing needs of the disaster survivors, FEMA, SBA and other disaster responders. Taking into consideration the amount of work to be done to put the facility back where it was, the accommodation was superb. I was looking for a decent place to stay with opportunity of a clean tropical beach; I got everything I had wished for. My room was on the 3rd floor beachfront with magnificent view of the blue water ocean and nearby islands. On the downside, my room did not have hot water for about a month (of which I knew when I booked); nonetheless, a cool shower after a hard days work and hot outside temperature, a cool shower was what I needed to get a good night sleep. That is after dipping in the warm blue water of the beach. My room only had a mid-size refrigerator. However, management allowed guests to bring in mini appliances that we may want. I inherited from a co-worker who was leaving for another assignment, her microwave and rice cooker. I cooked not only rice in the rice cooker but also all kinds of casserole dishes. I went adventuring to a couple of islands; however, my heart yearns for a clean beach with warm, blue crystal clear water to swim in. After a couple of islands trips, I decided my hotel has what I want the most. I stayed home-bound during my 2 1/2 months disaster deployment and enjoying every minute that I was not working putting my foot prints on the sand and playing in the tropical water I know I will miss once I return to the US.

Still recovering

It is important to recognize the islands are still recovering from last year’s storm season. That being said, experienced several issues. Food in restaurant was way below par. Salmon was over-cooked and portion tiny. Air conditioner in room did not work and was dripping. Ty had to move us to another room. Small pieces of trash on walkways and staff walks right by without picking it up. Three towels for four people and had to request more. Phone in room didn’t work so had to go the front desk multiple times to report issues. Ants in the bathroom. Convenient location to the airport and nice pool. But, if you stay here, have patience and low expectations.

Not a bad place to stay for on a budget in St. Thomas

They are still dealing with post hurricane issues, such as power outages at night and everything that happened in other reviews also happened to me- front desk people not really being helpful with what's going on in the rest of St. Thomas, no activities scheduled on resort at all, being charged for gratuity in restaurant even though we were a small party and it was a breakfast buffet so not much service going on so shouldn't gratuity be less than 20%?, dingy towels, housekeeping leaving only one clean towel and me having to go hunt for more towels, air conditioning not working one day, safe failing to work the minute we get there, jet ski/paddleboat rental guys never being around and nobody being able to help with that and more. However, most things were fixed within a reasonable time frame and with a little effort on my part. It is a no frills hotel and if you're expecting Ritz quality rooms and service you will surely be disappointed. However, cleanliness was never an issue in the rooms. I didn't have any problems with having no hot water (which I do think is a necessity and would've had a cow if there was no hot water). And the location was very convenient. Close to downtown Charlotte Amalie, close to a safari taxi stop and close to the airport. Also located on a beautiful albeit rocky beach. Not my favorite beach on St. Thomas- but beautiful enough for me to enjoy after enjoying my other favorite beaches for most of the day. Nothing beats stepping out on your patio and being able to take in beautiful caribbean views and hearing the waves throughout the day/night. They do not change up their menus. Was very sick of eating the same breakfast after a few days. Lunch menu also stays exactly the same. I heard their dinner changes a little but we were usually out for dinner somewhere else so I don't really know. Their sushi was very good. There aren't very many other options in St. Thomas at the moment and this place sufficed. Pool didn't look very clean (lots of sand on the pool floor) but I didn't care too much about that- you are in St. Thomas- get out of the pool and go to the beach for crying out loud, pools are a waste of time in the virgin islands.
