This is an excellent resort! I would recomend it to everyone. The only thing is if you want to sleep in don't be in building H because it is right beside the playground and you will here the kids screaming and laughing.

Fabulous Vacation Resort

Everyone there is great from the doorman, maid to the Hotel Manager himself. Whatever we ask for--we got. For example, weighting scales were moved from the gym/spa area to the doctor's office and my husband inquired about the move--when we returned to our hotel room, there was a new set of scales for our use during the remainder of our stay!

Great Property for All inclusive

This property is wonderful. It is a little dated but a great place. The beach was our favorite part. The rooms were overall clean. We did find some questionable dust bunnies in the hide a bed. The typical timeshare presentation was by far the shortest that I have been through. They delivered on the promise of 90 min or less. If loud noise is an issue for you, do not stay in the tower on the north side. There is a disco that has a thumping bass system that starts around 11:30 - 4:00 am. The staff is amazing and the check-in process could not have been any easier.

Stay but expect horrible TV services

Just stayed for 2 weeks and although the hotel was excellent, the TV cable/sat services were horrible. Channels that were advertised were always turned off--the Dish TV receiver was always offline, although I called the Front Desk a couple of times, nothing happened and if it did, 2 different channels would show the same thing. This was true of the 'advertised' ABC and Fox channels. With as much money as this hotel charges along with the 'time-share' money they get, you would think their TV services would be top notch.I would expect this type of service at lower end hotels not a supposedly "World Class" hotel such as this. We stayed at the El Cid Castilla last year and their TV services were great, the El Cid Marina Hotel, not so much. They will need to get much better before we stay here again...Castilla, here we come!

Great Vacation except for One Thing....

There are many things about this resort that we loved and definitely were 5 star unfortunately the front desk and management put a negative tone on our trip. We chose this property because we have stayed at the El Cid in Puerto Morales and really enjoyed our time there. There were 8 of us in total, 2 families of 4 who stayed in 2 different rooms. We stayed for 8 nights at the end of November, and booked our travel package with Westjet. Rooms: Our family of 4 chose to upgrade through the hotel from the junior suite to the one bedroom room, the other family we went with did not. Although they were provided a free upgrade to a one bedroom suite when they checked in, as no junior suites were available. Here is where the reception desk and management failed us and put a negative spin on our trip. When we made the upgrade through the hotel I was emailed pictures of the room we would be staying in, and it showed a one bedroom suite with 2 bathrooms. When we got to our room it only had one bathroom, when I enquired about changing rooms, I was informed that only 8 of all the 1 bedroom suites had 2 bathrooms and none were available. When I asked why I was sent pictures of a room with 2 bathrooms they said it was standard to send the show room pictures. After several days of trying to resolve the situation, we were told our only options were to stay in the room at the upgraded price or switch to a junior suite and get some of our money back. We tried to explain that this was false advertising, offering us an upgrade but not providing the appropriate room, we suggested getting a partial refund or at least resort credit to alleviate the situation, but they would not change their minds. We did have a lovely ocean front suite, so did the other family, but it was not the room we had paid for. Food: We loved the food and drink service at the pools and beach and we had breakfast everyday at the Marina Restaurant. We tried several of the a la cartes at the other resorts utilizing the free shuttle to get back and forth. Our favorite was the Mexican restaurant at El Moro (went 3 times), we were disappointed with the Japanese restaurant at the Country Club. We did not try any of the larger buffets at the other resorts but did enjoy having the option of Buffet or off the menu at the Marina Restaurant, Pools and Beach: We loved the private beach and the short boat ride to get there was easy to catch and constantly going back and forth, The service from Antonio was exceptional and we were happy to see his smiling face and positive attitude everyday. Our pool time was mostly at the cliff jumping pool but did spend some time partaking in the activities at the other pool; bingo, volleyball, painting ceramics, Spanish lessons, ect. We spent time at the other resorts a couple of days to play in their pools, loved that we did not have to sign for everything there, did not like that our only food options during the day were the buffet as the pool and beach restaurants were extra $$$. Overall everyone had a good time and we would consider going back again, I just wish that management would have been more proactive in resolving the situation with our room upgrade. It was very unfortunate that we paid for a room we did not get, and the other family we were with got the same room as us at no additional charge. As an experienced traveller, this is one of the poorest examples of customer service that I have encountered. I was told to come back three different times, and promised some type of resolution and they only solution they came up with was for us to change to a smaller room and receive a partial refund for the remaining days of our stay.

My family just had a week stay at El Cid Marina and we had a great time. I have two young children and they loved the kids pool, beach and poolside snacks. It was a quieter resort than I was use to but I really enjoyed the low-key feel. I thought the sister resorts (where a lot of other amentities are located) would be closer, but the bellboys made it super easy to get to and from the other locations. For the most part we spend most of our time at Cid Marina. The food and drinks were pretty good!
