This is an excellent resort! I would recomend it to everyone. The only thing is if you want to sleep in don't be in building H because it is right beside the playground and you will here the kids screaming and laughing.

Great Resort

Overall our time at the El Cid Marina Beach was great. My only complaint is the constant pressure to attend presentations and purchase tours.Prior to our arrival I received several emails reminding us to set up "free" transportation from the airport to the resort. I was looking forward to a peaceful ride to the resort, but no...once on the bus, and most of the ride to the resort, we were being asked to attend a presentation, and of course promised "free gifts". Once we arrived at the resort, I was looking forward to relaxing in my room, but no....Once we checked in, we were directed to another person to make sure we received our "free gifts". This was just to make sure that we signed up for a presentation. So, a couple of days later we attend the presentation, we don't buy anything and we simply want to collect our "free gifts". But no....we were being pressured to attend a 1 hour movie and give our opinion. I know this is just another presentation. I politely say "No Thank You". The employee promised pesos and questioned why I did not want to attend. I continued to politely say "No Thank You", and I explained to the employee that I am on vacation and I don't want to spend any more time doing things that I don't want to do. She continued to ask us to attend. This was VERY annoying. I expect the employees to respect my "No"!!! Several days later we were approached again at a different El Cid property to attend another presentation. Of course we declined that one too. Other than the constant pressure to attend "presentations/sales pitch" we had a good time.

I would highly recommend this resort. The property is beautiful the staff was excellent and we spent an excellent week staying at the Cid Marina Beach. Highly recommend. The pools were awesome and kids loved it!! A huge plus is the private beach located only a short water taxi (provided by the resort free of charge) ride from the resort.

Horrible restaurant service

Every single meal without fail was a 2 hour endeavor. FOR TWO PEOPLE. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. 30 minutes for the waiter to acknowledge we were there. 20 minutes to get our drinks. Another 10 to even order. By the time we would get our food another 20 minutes had passed. After eating and requesting our check it would be another 20 minutes to get the check and get out of there. The food overall was decent with the exception of the two meals that had Hair cooked into it. WARNING: If you decide to go the the Marina for ANY meal and want to order from the menu tell them as you are being seated. If you don’t they will assume you are eating from their old stale buffet and neglect any service. They never once asked if we wanted to order from the menu.

We enjoyed a week at El Cid Marina Beach Hotel. Room was a one bedroom (which they upgraded us to for free from a studio). Well appointed and clean (but the bright white tile floors can be slippery and get dirty easily so ask for more towels to lay down where the floor may get wet). Large balcony with a view of the Marina and small view of ocean. A couple of nice tools the one closest to the ocean has a grotto, with waterfalls (great for neck messages) and diving rock into the 9 foot deep end. Love the fact that it has a real deep end on the pool. A dozen plus iguanas keep you company pool side hoping you drop a snack. Bell men were always available and helpful 24 hours with golf kart rides to your room or other help. Great restaurant on site with indoor and outdoor seating and live music most nights. Location is great being on the end of the hotel zone. They have a water taxi service to their private beach which is terrific with out the swarms of vendors to disturb your time. NOTE: They do have cruise ship tours to this beach spot so if you don't want a crowd find out when they are having those events.

Great place to stay. Low key and clean. Beautiful view of sunsets. Our room over looked the marina and was perfect. Quiet. Easy to get around the resort, no long winding path ways to get where you are hoping to get. All Inclusive is the way to go! Great food all the time! Definitely going back!
