Dreams was a great hotel. It was not overly fancy but the room, grounds and restaurants were very clean and well kept. The staff was very friendly and made the stay comfortable. The spa was top of the line and not overly expensive. There was no need for reservations at the restaurants and the food was fantastic. Dress code was not overly formal, only one of them required pants. The drinks were made well and there was no problem getting them. I had two issues with this resort. number one was that it was hard to get a spot on the lawn chairs on the beach. they filled up before 8 am most days. the second issue was the time share people in the hotel. I was asked multiple times to site in on a 1 hour info seminar. I refused every time. One lady was obviously upset with me and gave me looks instead of greeting me during the week. Other then her the staff was top notch.

We had the best time at this Dreams in Nuevo Vallarta. The hotel, rooms and people were absolutely top-notch! Couldn't be better. The food was only above average to good, though. Only a few items were excellent. The variety and freshness made up for any shortcomings on the food supply. Apparently, they source locals for their produce and other supplies, which works great! Everything was really good except for what we thought to be their premier restaurant on-site ... the Portofino Italian Restaurant. We traveled from Wednesday to Wednesday, so we chose Sunday night for our "night out" with upscale clothing other than shorts. This didn't work out. We didn't mind waiting a half hour for it ... after all, we were on vacation! People waiting with us were mostly Canadian and very, very friendly. We had fun. I didn't mind being asked by management to put on long pants even though our legs were covered by the floor-length table cloth. There was a tiny sign on the front of the podium, hidden by the line of people waiting, that said "no shorts" even if they were nice ones. So, I went up to the room and changed. That was still fine. The rests wasn't. The food and service was slow-ow-ow. The food was cold. When we told the manager about it, he shrugged his shoulders and walked away from us. The rest of the place was excellent, except for this one unhappy meal.

This was our second time at this property in less than a year. The food this time in all the restaurants and buffets was lacking. They must have had a chef change, and not for the better.

Stayed at Dreams Nuevo Vallarata Aug 13-17. It was WONDERFUL! I have stayed at multiple Dreams/Secrets resorts prior, and this establishment met all my expectations. The staff were so friendly and always willing to please/help. The FISH TACOS @ Oceana restaurant were THE BEST I have ever had (and I live at the beach). They were so good we went EVERY day for lunch. The pool/beach waiters are always on top of their game trying their hardest to ensure you always have a cold beverage in hand. The entertainment staff are very friendly and even helped my friend in I with using the resort bicycles to ride independently to the next little beach town to do some shopping. I visited the coffee shop daily (some multiple times) as the service there was awesome and the drinks/bakery items were super tasty. Overall it was an excellent vacation, the resort is super clean, the beach is tidy with great water access (no seaweed or rocks), and the rooms are comfortable and very nice. We were on the 5th floor and the views were beautiful. Lastly, visit the sushi bar on the 9th floor- the sushi menu isn't expansive but they do have something for everyone and it is all made fresh as you order it. The drinks are cold and the atmosphere matches the wonderful views. I personally highly recommend this resort for those who are simply wanting a relaxing quiet getaway. It is not a "loud" or "organized entertainment" as some other all inclusive resorts I have been to, but that was FINE by me. Most of the daytime activities are held in the pool closest to the lobby and I spent most of my time at the infinity pool overlooking the beach so perhaps I missed the "loud/engaging activities". The bar closest to the beach also has swings! I was slightly disappointed to see no hammocks out/up, but that was just a minor letdown. The grounds is also beautifully maintained and there were numerous very large Iguanias that you could see freely walking around (eating all the pretty flowers)! During the day there was also a fowler who had two hawks that he did little shows with- pretty neat to just sit back and sip on a Miami Vice (my favorite) and watch the beautiful birds fly so freely. If walking the beach strikes your fancy- you can go both directions for a long distance. If you head to the right you can see lots of sea stones & shells, and will eventually come to the next small town, and if you go left eventually you will hit the boat marina. YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED IF YOU BOOK HERE!

Maid service wasn't consistent - would be out of the room all morning and early afternoon and would not be cleaned. Food wasn't that great. Check-in was extremely slow - need extra help with several people waiting.

Rooms: Large, clean, all-suites, comfortable beds & pillows. Bathrooms in the suites are not private – read other reviews if this may be an issue for you. Nice bath (shampoo, etc.) products. Housekeeping: Great!!! If you need more water or beer in your mini fridge, just leave a note w/your tip for the maid. Food: No reservations are required which is a HUGE benefit for me. A rating: Portofino (adults only): they “get” the 5 course meal and the food was great (Osso Buocco / Risotto – yum!). A rating: Coco Café - Great coffee and little treats. This is on the other side of the lobby. A rating: Gohan - We didn’t eat here (we’re not sushi lovers), but the drinks were good and the views amazing. Everyone reviews the food as great. B+ rating: El Patio - I enjoyed my meal and margarita a lot – original menu. B rating: Oceana – Colorful hanging fish are cool and the Mahi Mahi was great. Nice to eat outside! C rating: Seaside Grill – Dinner service was very slow. Steak wasn’t cooked and was tough. I don’t know if it was an off-night, but we did not return. D rating: Snack bar: 1-hard to find and figure out how to order (they have little ice cream cones, but I’m not sure how you are supposed to order them), 2-burgers were raw (yuck), 3-there is a secret bathroom to the left of the grill which I wish I would have known about!). We paid for lunches at the condo food bar because the food was better & quicker than the Dreams snack bar. Drinks: Good. Loved the white & red house wine! Mini bar: Pop, water, beer. All you need. Beach: Gorgeous. You can walk for miles in both directions. Service/Staff: Pool/beach staff are good but was a bit inconsistent. Lobby bartender was fun. They work hard to serve you; and if it’s great, tip well. When we were there, they seemed to be short-staffed. Overall comments: Not a 5-star resort. More of a 3.5 star. The staff wasn’t trained on the “DREAMS BRAND” and that was kind of an issue for me, as I’ve stayed at numerous Secrets & Dreams. With a bit of training and adequate staffing, I think the hotel staff could make this a close-to-perfect vacation. What I liked most: beach, sunsets, balcony, lobby bar, Portofino. What the resort could improve upon: Public bathrooms didn’t have signage (especially the snack bar bathroom). Quick lunch food was lacking (see above). Towel cards should be abolished.

The buffet is horrible, but many restaurants are adult only. Why did I pay the full price for my 15 years old kid?

This hotel has the worst buffet I've ever seen. And the biggest problem at night or some restaurants have adult only policy. What is wrong with the management? Why they change the full price and allow to eat in buffet only. Complete rip off.

I have used Apple Vacations for numerous all-inclusive trips, This trip was the worst I've experienced! The staff at the hotel (actually one exception-Adolfo Arechiga was amazing) the rest were rude, unfriendly, and curt with all their answers! I will never recommend this resort or return there!! I couldn't wait to leave! I felt very unwelcome and that I was bothering them! The maid came in and threw pillows on the couch for turn-down service then ran out of the room. the waiters did not smile at me- they were very friendly and spoke in length to those tourists or guests who spoke spanish, I could not get a smile or even their attention for a drink. Terribly disappointing.

Totally inaccurate Apple rating. Food choices were limited and mostly bad - the buffet food was the worst I have experienced at an all-inclusive in Mexico. Mexican restaurant at the hotel was absolutely awful (lasagna on the menu??) Service at that restaurant was awful - we waited 1/2 hour before being offered drinks, waiter forgot half the order and when we pointed out the things that were missing, he forgot again. Lounge chairs by the pool were scarce, and when we found one, they were very uncomfortable. There were even fewer loungers at the beach - and half of the chairs on the beach were broken. When we didn't return to our lounge chairs by the pool within an hour, security picked up our things and removed them from the pool. When we returned, there was nowhere to sit. If the hotel had a 3-apple rating, I would have known what to expect, but giving this hotel a six, golden-apple rating is just wrong. We were very disappointed and will think twice before booking through Apple again.

Fabulous holiday

We have just returned from our second visit to Dreams Villamagna and we were not disappointed we had another amazing holiday. The food, hotel and location are excellent but what really sets it apart from other hotels is the staff. What an amazing team everyone we came across went out of their way to make sure we had a fabulous time. In particular we wanted to thank the team in Portofino for making our last night so special not only was the food delicious, along with the Mexican coffees, but Jose, Martin, Hector, Daniel,Paul & Diana made sure we had a night to remember. Pablo made us smile every lunch time in Oceana while all the waiters around the pool made sure the cocktails flowed and Leo kept us happy every evening in the lobby bar. This was a special holiday for us as my brother and his wife flew in from Canada to join us, our first holiday together for over 20 years and what a great choice for our celebrations. Thank you all and we will be back again soon.

This was my first experience in Mexico and It was just perfect. This Resort was magical. We had a beautiful room facing the Mountains, Ocean and the pools. The Staff at this resort were attentive and friendly especially caption Francisco and his staff at the Seafood restaurant. They made our stay very memorable. We will never forget him. My husband loved the Seafood Campechana and Captain Fransisco had one ready for him every time we came in, he made sure we had everything we needed every time he saw us even if it was at the buffet. We got to know Pablo Viridiana, Jair, Andres, and Elizabeth who also took great care of us during our stay, they were so kind to our 7 month old son. I highly recommend this resort, everyone worked so hard to make sure our stay was one to remember. The staff gets a 10/10! I can't wait to return.

Briana Quintin the Executive Services Ambasador out did herself looking after every detail for our arrival...our upgrade to an ocean view room was the best first move... Lou the bartender in the lobby bar kept us entertained and well lubricated...Edgar who delivered our room service coffee and fruit early every morning was such a nice young man that got our day off to a great start with his humble, polite personality...the breakfast crew on the World Cafe patio were all fast, friendly and very attentive...we had a few very good meals but they were hit and miss, the 4 of us didn't feel that the food met our expectations for a resort of this name brand

First Mexico Trip.... Not Bad

The Room: The property itself is quite beautiful. I had a room with a partial ocean view and it was still pretty nice to look at. The room actually was very nice too, with exception to the dated orange couch in the "lounge area". If you are one who loves taking pictures to post on instagram, this would be a damper on the picture quality. The bed was super comfy and I appreciated the nice full body mirror in the room. Oh and you can't forget the "sauna/hot tub" on the balcony. The food: I have been to quite a few all inclusive resorts and it is always so hard to get this part right, ugh. When I travel outside of the country I am pretty big on food, and I am aware usually the resorts aren't the best way to experience that. So if you don't mind sub-par food in the restaurants you will be fine. They had one grab and go spot where you can get burgers, nuggets and fries that weren't half bad if you are hungry. So for the most part the food needs work. Oh, but one thing I did enjoy was the room service, why was that food better? I was able to get some nice fajitas and a BLT, when I wanted to just chill in the room for a bit. The location: This didn't matter too much too our crowd, we took cabs everywhere we went. When we attempted to walk off the property on our own, we were frowned upon a little bit. But it was the daytime, and it was 7 of us so we were ok with it. The beach: The beach was ok, it had your typical sales folks pitching their water activities, but nonetheless it was beautful. The crowd was pretty mixed from families, singles, folks of young and old. Overall despite my little gripes I had a very good experience. When I go on trips the most important things to me are a nice and courtesy staff, and having an above average room. This property did just that and I would come back.

Amazing first experience in Mexico

My boyfriend and I traveled to Nuevo Vallarta and stayed at this resort for 7-days all inclusive this past February. We were there to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday, and it was my first time to Mexico - the trip was nothing short of amazing! The staff at Dreams helped to make this trip one of the most memorable yet. The pool & beach service was definitely a highlight - the beach/pool servers went above and beyond to cater to us and had upbeat, friendly, and positive attitudes - nothing we asked for was out of question (particularly Gerardo, Veronica, and Julio). The pool itself was gorgeous and well maintained. We preferred the cold infinity pool with an amazing view of the water - it seemed to be more adult oriented while the pools closer to the resort seemed to be aimed at family and children. The resort chairs seemed to be hard to secure at times however, security was prompt to remove the towels that had been left for a period of time (no spot saving for many hours as you might see at other resorts). The entertainment crew was vibrant and encouraged everyone to participate in the activities and shows (particularly Jesus, Annabelle, and Jona). It would nice to see the volleyball nets on the beach left up at least until sunset as they typically took them down around 5pm. Also, if you are looking for nightlife at the resort, it is important to know that almost everything shuts down after 10pm, except for the sushi bar and room service. The bar service was great and they had some very tasty drink options (ask for the blended mango mojito - we are still craving them now that we are home!). The notable bartenders that made our experience amazing were Efrain, Armano, and Arturo. It was always a pleasure to order our drinks through them! The maids and housekeeping staff were very professional and friendly. The staff went above and beyond to help decorate the room for my boyfriend's birthday (it was a surprise at the end of the day and very last minute). The room itself was spacious, well-kept, and the jacuzzi tub on the deck was a huge bonus - be sure to rinse it before use!! Unfortunately my boyfriend had a bleach stain on his shorts even after we rinsed :( As for check-in and check-out, the experience was smooth and the staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, professional and spoke excellent English. If you are lucky enough to meet Carlos, tell him he's the best! :) The food options were okay at the resort. The service was still amazing and again, everyone was accommodating and friendly. My boyfriend really enjoyed the food however, I had a bit of a different experience. I was quite sick one day after eating dinner at the buffet (go early so the food is fresher and hasn't been sitting out as long) and I am also vegetarian - while they had lots of veg options, it usually contained a lot of Mexican cheeses and this really upset my stomach. If you are a picky/particular eater, you may want to pack some travel medications to deal with potential stomach issues. Overall, I found it manageable and I just watched what I ate. The local area felt very safe (during the day), and on one of the last days we checked out a local market (near the Hard Rock Casino, behind the hospital). It was really cool! It had lots of vendors selling Mexican souvenirs, food beverages, etc. Ask the locals/frequent travelers that stay at the condos and they will surely help to fill you in! Also to note, there is a catch to the $200USD that may be used at the resort i.e. you can only use $20 at a time and must pay the balance in cash. We didn't opt to use the spa and we used a coupon on a bottle of wine instead to keep in our room... Overall, a great team of staff and a great resort. We hope to visit again soon!
