Some aspects of dining could be improved

French Restaurant fell flat by serving a flank steak that was shoe leather . It also had a “cheese plate” that was cheddar and edam. The Italian Restaurant serves Gorgonzola and the buffet serves goat cheese. The French serves cheddar???

After reading some of the reviews; We were very surprised at how much we enjoyed the hotel. I know the hotel was an older property it was always very clean and the staff couldn't be nicer. We liked that the hotel was on the smaller side because we could walk everywhere. The only down side was the beach wasn't the nicest beach that we have seen but it was a nice small beach. The seaweed could not be helped and they do keep anyone off the beach that is trying to sell things. We had a great time. Thanks

Good, clean, friendly resort. Food was awesome! Beach was full of seaweed and the entertainment could’ve been better though.

Relaxing week

Our week at Dreams Palm Beach was very relaxing. The staff went out of their way to make our week enjoyable. Ingrid in the Preferred Club helped find us a room with a better view. Berlin in the French restaurant was exceptional. He easily handled an over demanding large group by us without letting it interfere with our dining experience. Romero ( or Romeo to my wife) in the Oriental restaurant was delightful. Stehanie’s smile at the Seaside restaurant was always a joy to see. Although the chair situation at the main pool was always challenging, the preferred club pool was much more comfortable anyway. The beach always had plenty of chairs. Our room was in building 5 right by the beach and was always clean and well stocked. I could go on and on.

Amazing experience. A little disappointed with the room until I realized it was just a place to sleep. The rest of the resort and staff were so excellent that we never spent any time in the room except to change and sleep. Apple Vacation representatives were very helpful and made a smooth transition from the airport to hotel and back.

Not a 6 Golden Apple
MICHAEL N.
Feb 09 2018
Most of the reviews on other websites are pretty accurate. We were put in block 8 and had to switch rooms due to air conditioning not working and the shower drain being plugged and water going everywhere in the bathroom. Hotel staff was very good about moving us. This block of rooms needs to be renovated as it's nowhere near 6 golden apple worthy. It ended up working out ok as you are really not in your room that much. The beach was horrible. There was tons of seaweed pulled up on the beach and all throughout the water. You could not even swim. I'm not buying that this was from all of the hurricanes, it's just how it is on that side of the island. There was not much of an effort made to clean it up. As for the food, again, not 6 golden apple worthy. It wasn't horrible, just average to below average. The drinks were about the same. The pool area was great. They keep the outdoor areas very clean. For the most part, the staff was very friendly. If I had to rate this hotel overall, I would give it a 4 red apple.

The hotel was nice enough but the gentlemen in the tan uniforms were VERY pushy trying to sell a vacation deal...it was nice that our Apple rep warned us. The food was good, drinks were fine. The beach area was nice but tons of seaweed had to be raked and hauled away daily. The ocean was really full of seaweed so we never really got in the water. Not sure if this is a seasonal problem or an "always" problem due to the location of the resort. For this reason we will probably try a different resort in the future.

We are extremely disappointed in our return trip to punta cana this year. The agent that booked the trip assured of that this particular dreams was the one near now onyx and breathless as we stayed there last year. It was no where near them. The entertainment at this hotel was terrible! The food quality also was terrible. We couldn't even find anything in the buffet we liked. We were led to believe this was a different property and once we were there their was nothing we can do. We are so disappointed in this trip, and highly doubt if we would ever use apple vacations again. This hotel had one night club and their never was a person in there no matter how late the night was!!! The room wreaked of mold and mildew we told Masiana our apple rep at our hotel she said she would have us moved and that also never happened. We are so so sad and disheartened over this trip. We were so happy to return to punta cana and were very upset how the trip went! thanks for the survey I wanted to give warning and feed back to future travelers. We will post a review on fb.

We were a little apprehensive about our trip to Dreams after reading through some of the reviews so we're going to be as honest as possible to help put your fears at ease. This is a nice sized resort, not too big and not too small, by the end of the week we had been seeing most of the same people and the staff recognized us everywhere we went so we considered that to be a plus! The weather when we were there was very windy, which is not the fault of the resort, but it did affect our ability to sit on the beach (the sand would actually hurt your face from the wind!) and it was very cloudy each day and rained off and on, but usually just for a few minutes as a time and you'd dry off pretty quick from the heat and wind! Pros: - STAFF!!! Everyone is so friendly and goes out of their way to make sure you are pleased. Whoever trained them is fantastic, customer service is definitely a priority at Dreams! - Food variety is plentiful! The World Cafe always had plenty of choices and we ate all but one of our breakfasts there, so many things to choose from, lunch was always on the beach (very good burgers and hot dogs plus cheesy fries, yummy!), and we ate dinner at the sit down restaurants all but one night. We liked the Portofino, thought it was decent Italian altho flavors a bit bland, and enjoyed the steaks at the Seaside Grill. - We booked Preferred as that seemed like the way to go but I'm really not so sure. I thought the service at the lobby bar and the swim-up bar and main pool was better, but there were others around us in the Preferred that were very demanding and rude, so they got most of the attention. - The beach is murky and there's lots of seaweed, but we figured due to the wind and the fact that boats come and go not too far out from front of hotel that is probably the cause. They work hard to clear it but as we mentioned with the wind we didn't spend too much time on the beach. As others have said if you walk to the left about 15 minutes you will see the most beautiful water and it's not crowded at all, we spent quite a bit of time there, just need to look past the huge amounts of sea weed on your way there and the garbage on the beach that has washed up. - Loved the CoCo Cafe, the coffee was always so good and the extra pastries was a nice treat, plus the staff there was always so friendly and helpful :-) Cons: - They do allow people to save chairs, even tho they say you can't. I am an early riser and would go looking and found most chairs to already have towels on them before 7:30, which was very disappointing. And some of those chairs would stay empty throughout the day, barely being used, so that was frustrating. On the flip side tho when the staff would see us wandering they would offer to find us some chairs from the beach and bring over to the pool, which was very nice! I'm sure the wind brought many people poolside which didn't help with the seating issues. - The hot tub that is in the Preferred family pool is basically a swimming pool for kids, not at all what we were hoping for. I was shocked that the hotel allowed this. Even before the pools would close, at at time when a nice soak would feel good it was still filled with kids. Very disappointing. - The timeshare spiel needs to stop. We knew we may be approached about it prior to coming after reading reviews, but yet we still fell for it as we were made to feel like our "free" coupons were being held hostage if we didn't. We knew going into the meeting that we were going to say no and we stood our ground, which didn't go over well with our hostess who made us feel guilty. We have 1 child in college and another headed there in a few years, no way in heck we're going to shell over the type of money they were requesting, even if it is our hope to take a nice trip at least once a year as a couple we also know that life happens and that life comes first. Knowing that this timeshare thing is something that is pushed at all Dreams and their other hotels in the chain has turned us off a bit from going to another one in the future. That said, once it was over we were able to enjoy our vacation but felt bad for the others we saw getting sucked into it. So as you can see, all in all we had a great experience at Dreams. We did go the Preferred Club route but honestly other then having an oceanfront room in a quieter part of the resort I'm not certain if it's worth the extra $. We ate one lunch at the Seaside Grill (a perk of being preferred) but it took so long for our meal from start to finish that we felt like we were losing out on the valuable sunshine and would much rather have been outside. We only got a few drinks from the Preferred bars as we spent so much time at the bigger pool (away from the kids, the family pool is filled with kids ALL DAY, and we were on vacation to get away from that noise, sorry kids), the Preferred adults only pool is nice but almost too quiet, we like some action. We did not see any of the other rooms so not certain how they compared to the preferred. If we went again I think we'd wait to upgrade and see what our room was like first, you're in your room for such a short time, we had way more space then we needed but did enjoy our view. We also did the excursion to Saona Island, highly recommend, very fun, even tho it rained the whole way there and most of the way back, we somehow lucked out with an amazing break in the weather while at the island itself, made me wish there was a hotel with that kind of ocean frontage, that's what we want to see on vacation! Feel free to contact us with any questions, we'd be happy to help!

I've happened upon towel-gate!

Wed Feb 21 02:04:01 EST 2018
Decided to get up early today to witness the dog-eat-dog "I want a seat by the pool" world that comes with staying at this hotel. I can only see 2 other people sitting down and then most sun loungers covered by towels or some other form of "this is reserved" paraphernalia. I don't actually blame the residents so much - not enough loungers or parasol. Management need a rethink! Away from a sunbed crisis, the hotel is pleasant enough, but I do think only gets 5 stars due to facilities. Def a 3.5 or 4 star though. The people who work here, in the majority, are great. Be careful of the preying mantis VIP sales team as you arrive. We were curious about but so badly facilitated it put us off. Rooms need some work and food choice in buffet very much a groundhog day experience. Overall, thought it was pleasant enough - saved mainly by staff and easy "all inclusive" protocol where no signing and no wrist bands. I guess a little bit of a mixed bag but excluding towel-gate, pretty relaxing.

Wonderful time!

This was the first time we had stayed at a Dreams resort and we had a really lovely holiday. The grounds were amazing and immaculately kept. There was always plenty of sun beds each day which was a real plus for me. We stayed at the Hard Rock in Cancun 2 years ago and people were getting up when it was still dark just to get a sun bed as there were so few beds! The room was ok, could have done with a little updating but nothing major. It smelt a little musty when we first arrived and nearly asked to be moved but the location of the room was excellent especially as I was travelling on my own with 2 children, but by the second day the smell had gone. The beach was lovely. There was a problem with seaweed everyday due to recent storms but there was always at least 6-10 people clearing the water and beach each day, all day and did a brilliant job. We found all the staff to be really friendly and the entertainment team did a brilliant job so much so I hardly saw the children.

Just returned from Dreams Palm Beach for my friends wedding. This is my 3rd time staying at a Dreams Resort and it keeps getting better. The facilities were Great!!!The staff is very helpful and friendly, Especially Rafael Sosa!!!! He was our server at the beach, pool, and wedding. He really made sure we had everything we needed and we were a large group of 35. I highly recommend this resort and any Dreams resorts, so far I haven’t been disappointed.
