Comparing this Dreams to others where we've stayed, the entry level is below par compared to Costa Rica or Mexico. It appears the rooms need some work. When we arrived, our name wasn't on the bell man's list of arriving customers. I was worried we weren't booked at the hotel. Then the keys for the room didn't work. When I was told someone would bring up a working set & waited over 20 minutes, I was pissed & had someone come up & ensure that the new ones worked. They mentioned they might have to replace the door scanner. I heard this happened to another couple. Then the cold water handle didn't work, the mini bar refrigerator didn't work, ... To make matters worse, the handle to the shower broke off. My guess is this room hadn't been used in months. Luckily the hotel upgraded us to a better room. Other than these issues, our stay was wonderful. The staff, food, location are all wonderful.

The Hotel could use quite a bit of updating. Preferred club room, but no active help with questions. Now when seeking out people for help, it was always made available, happily.

The resort, staff was awesome. I have the beach a lower score only because a hurricane went through the area about a month before we arrived. So the beach and water was messed up a little.

Great location and facility, but probably not again

Beautiful facility, the moisture to the room was quite astonishing and the shower constaly leaked onto the bathroom floor, but it was tolerable. We enjoyed the staff and felt well waited on. We had one horrible night while we waited out Hurricaine Maria. The AC unit broke due to the weather conditionas and we sweated through the night in a 90+ degree auditorium with all the other guests. They cleaned the facility up as fast as they could, but we definitely lost 2-3days of our vacation. The pool was bueatiful and well maintained as well, our daughter loved to swim every day. Unfortunately, our last night we met up with 2 other couples we had befriended and went to the french restuarant. All in all, after 2 hours and asking about our food several times, all 6 of us got up and left the restaurant with NO dinner. It really put a HUGE damper on our spirits and a way to wrap up our vacation that we were already trying to make the best of. I would gladly consider another location of this great resort line, I just don't think I myself would visit this same resort.

Great time but hotel rating was not accurate

Location, service, staff, and food were great. There were no reservations for the restaurants and they were all inside except for the beach bar. They had a habachi grill and a coffee bar! The kids club service was great, and the entertainment was good. The inclusive room service and free in room wifi were enhancements that added value. The hotel was well maintained but it was older. I thought it was more 4 red apple versus the 5 yellow apple + rating that it received on the site.

Wonderful Vacation

We visited Dreams Palm Beach for my brother's wedding. It was a wonderful time - the hotel is beautiful, grounds are perfectly manicured and the staff is "excelente" - however the beach is fair - water is not the carribbean blue we expected and had lots of seaweed. But it was still very nice. The beach hut had great burgers and hot dogs - but need to add some snacks. The restaurant food is great. Resort personnel are incredibly friendly. They do have a pants rule for men at the restaurants that is ridiculous given it's a beach resort and the extremely hot temperatures. You can keep it classy with nice shorts and shirts. However the resort does try to accommodate by offering rental pants for men at no fee. Like I mentioned the food is delicious - but because they don't offer any "late night eats" room service is very slow due to high demand. However, the pizza is great. Also the entertainment is very good and fun. The rooms are clean and cleaning staff does a fantastic job. The entire Dreams staff is superb. The bars are great - a little slow - only because they could use a few more staff personnel. The vacation was awesome and I would recommend this resort to family and friends.

I visited for my 6th time recently since 2011. Every visit has been amazing. Grounds: It seems they have added even more gorgeous tropical plants to the grounds, as it was already beautiful. Lots of Sago palms and climbing flowers. So many tall palm trees on the grounds as well. The lobby is gorgeously lit up at night, a really nice place to go for a pre-dinner drink. Ambience wise, it's nice you have somewhere like the cocoa cafe, which aims for a zen feel, music and decor wise, then you have just at the other side of the resort, a more party vibe at the swim up bar. Nice to have both. The live music and dancing by the wedding gazebo around 7 or 8 every night is very lovely. On Friday's a market opens in the resort with jewelry, alcohol and decor, which adds a nice vibrant atmosphere to the resort, also an easy way to pick up gifts. Food: The food is has consistently been very good. Highlights were the steak, fajita's and enchilada's, at the Mexican restaurant, the burgers anywhere on the resort, tiramisu, cannoli, beef medallions at the Italian restaurant, anything on the menu and hashbrowns at seaside grill, donuts at cocoa cafe, and the cheese plate at the french restaurant. Staff: The staff are always very friendly, and really do treat you like family. It was very nice to see some familiar faces I have seen since all the way back in 2011. Clement and Francisco at the lobby bar, Christina and Tito at seaside grill, Ray who formally worked at the seaside grill, now managing restaurants on the grounds, Edward who was formerly gasolina on the entertainment team, now director of it. Staff at the coco cafe as well. Bartender's Reynaldo at the wedding gazebo and Martin at the theatre bar were very nice and a pleasure to be around. Reynaldo, was always attentive and cheerful, Martin as well who made us a surprise "martin special" drink one night. All the staff on the beach are very nice as well. The entertainment team were great, and entertaining of course, Gavi, Angelo, and the girls. Lots of different kinds of fun activities throughout the day for everyone. The shows are always wonderful, I love how the guests sometimes get to be involved which makes the shows super fun. Rooms - Rooms are always very clean, beds very comfortable. What you get with preferred: - Private beach - Adults only pool with mini buffet, bar, and lunch brought to you (burgers, wraps, fish and chips) - Seaside grill for breakfast, restaurant style breakfast on the beach. This makes it worth it ! - Upgraded rooms. - Another pool close to the beach that is just for preferred guests, individual reception area. Cant wait for my next trip!! Already miss it!

Incredible resort

10/10 in every way. The staff, rooms, restaurant and even the wifi connection was just amazing. For the house that the staff work they had thr most incredibly friendly attitude. Waking up at the crack of dawn and saying hi to staff round the pool then seeing them still working at 9:30 at a restaurant in the evening really showed how hard they work. Always happy to see you with a huge smile especially clemente, carlos, louise, jeffery, the gentlemen serving drinks round the pool and many more! The standard of everything was above and beyond expectations. The only downfall was the quiet nightlife but this is to be expected on a relaxing holiday, although there is a sports bar/ small club available with music if desired. Would 100% come back to this resort.

Got married here, with the honey moon package
Brittney K,
Mon Nov 20 04:17:06 EST 2017
This resort is very nice and well taken care of. I do have some pro's and some negatives that are very important to go over. Our wedding party was 36 people. I had some guests stay preferred, some not. I stayed in the honey moon sweet, beautiful room, very good house keeping. Some of the guests that where not preferred had great rooms, the other half didn't, some examples... toilet handle hanging out of the bowl, AC not working properly and the humidity in the room was crazy. Others had such a terrible bed, they did complain and they did replace the mattress but it wasn't that much better. And took 2 days to replace. So if you go none preferred you have a 50/50 chance of a crap room. Everyone in preferred said the rooms where good. Second thing is the staff do not speak good English, huge communication gap when it comes to non facing staff. But all of the staff was friendly I had fun with the cleaning lady who would try her best to communicate with me, she would write the numbers of her children ages on the wall with her finger so she tried her best, and I appreciated how she thanked me for the gifts I left her. I found this resort to be very tip driven, you can tell they don't get paid very much and make their living from the tips. I don't mind tipping but sometimes I felt like a ATM. Going back to the preferred part, I am actually pissed off because our honey moon package included preferred which has benefits of a great exclusive restaurant that has great food, and premium drinks like coronas, MGD beer and so on. I don't know if I didn't dress fancy enough to look like preferred but they would not serve me anything. They told me the corona was spoken for, and would offer me nothing else but the normal beer they serve on the resort. Also in the evening the restaurant opens to the public, and they remove premium options from the menu I asked for calamari they said no. But when I left I seen some on another persons table. I felt like they thought I was giving a fake room number when I spent thousands of dollars at their resort for the honeymoon package and my wedding. We had William Wasson as our butler and he was wonderful, such a great personality and very upbeat. I was also offended when we tried to book our dinner on the beach that was included in our package, they asked for our room number and then said do you know the cost of this? I thought he said place, and he said no, do you know the price of it? I politely told him it's included in our package, he looked it up and said oh yes that's true, but then made me walk all the way back to my room to grab the blank form to bring back to prove it was our room or something? So upset with how we where treated after we spend the money we did there getting married. We seriously got nothing extra for preferred. I am actually very upset about that. Our wedding coordinator Roseanglea was an angel, beautiful inside and out and made everything come together perfectly. Another thing to watch is the Air Canada rep that sells excursions. Seems like the most kindest person, which he might be but he is a basic greasy sells man. Stole my dads money and my friends money. Good luck trying to get a refund if your excursions get canceled. It was hell! Also he states "you get what you pay for, don't buy from the locals on the beach" Seriously he sells you same garbage for double the price. Please do your research long before you purchase any excursions. They make it look like it's amazing and it's 110% not what you're paying for. Frankie will also offer to pick up items off the resort for you, sometimes he will come thru other times he just takes your money. Please be aware!!! He will play the I only get one day off a month but offer to take you on a private tour, bring you to his family's house to buy things off them. It is really a heart jerker scam. Would I ever go back? No. Was it a nice resort, yes. Would I recommend anyone getting married there, yes but they will charge you a crazy amount of money for any little extra. Ex. If you want a mic and speaker for the reception, $400 American for 3 hours. They take your photos of the wedding, then will give you 50 prints free, then ask if you want digital for $300 American. Every extra photo is $25 American. Just upset how we didn't get any extra benefit for being preferred. Feel kinda ripped off. Every restaurant in the resort is great food, the buffet is good but it's a buffet to serve hundreds of people it isn't amazing but pretty good, you just get tired of it after 4-5 days. The spa, where do I start? They did amazing on my hair and everyone else's hair, my bridal makeup... oh god. Their makeup there is terrible, I had to ask her to politely stop, it was horrible, the makeup brushes they use are also terrible, I had makeup brush Hairs all over my neck and chest after. I went back to the room and had to re-do my eyes and brows. The eyeliner was so terrible, I was so embarrassed to walk thru the resort after. The women in the spa didn't speak the best English either, you had to show pictures or place your hair for them to understand. The food at the wedding was wonderful, and they have a crazy amount of it. Every item that we selected was wonderful. The live music we got was also great, the bar tenders where wonderful also.

This is my first review following a short break from contributing. This hotel, in my opinion is a mixture of good and bad - let's get the bad part over first - the rooms ! Even though we booked deluxe rooms we were placed in block 9 and the rooms are very old and tired and in need of refurbishing. Frankly I could not be bothered to complain - I take the view that I should not have to do that when I'm on holiday trying to avoid stress - but for sure I won't be going back to this hotel. On the positive side, the restaurants, staff, the pool & beach are all very good - there is a wide selection of food available, and the service is also of a high standard.

We attended a wedding anniversary celebration and stayed here. It was wonderful! Our room was beautiful - overlooked one of the pool areas and as soon as we opened our door and walked down one flight of stairs, we were on the beach! Front Desk Service - 5 Room Service/Cleanliness - 5 Food (lots of restaurants to choose from, no need to leave resort) - 5 Drinks on the beach - 5 (Miguel kept them coming) Wedding/Vow Renewal Ceremony and Reception - 5++ (just excellent!) Casino on resort - 5 so much fun! (just turn down the AC a little) Pool - 4 (only giving it a 4 because we didn't get in, we were on the beach) Beach- clean, great view, beautiful to watch sunrise/sunset Massage on Beach - 4 (I didn't try it but my cousin did, she gave the lady a nice tip!) Music/Events/Entertainment - 4 (every night there was something to do-- great fun!) Shopping - 4 (we didn't leave the resort our 4 nights but shopping was in walking dis) Peace/Quiet - 5 (didn't hear anything) Shuttle/Airport - 5 (We booked through dominicanplus.com - great service) *Loved the omelettes every morning, fresh fruit and the rice pudding was my fave -- could have brought the whole pot home!!! Con: Shower could be updated. Had to step in a spa tub with shutters (shutters were really nice, opened to bedroom but you had to close them when showering and make sure showerhead was turned facing you so water would get out past the shutters. Not a big deal at all, close the shutters!! LOL) Also has 2 sides -- the signature/adult only side was really beautiful and we were greeted with champagne upon arrival. We did have to wait about an hour and half for our room but it wasn't a problem... plenty of drinks and light fare by the pool to keep us happy! We'll be back! Amazing stay!
