We are writing to you to make you aware of some instances we have experienced at your property. We had booked your resort through Apple Vacations. We traveled with ease and when we arrived your property looked beautiful. However, our negative experience happened quickly as we tried checking in. We want to share some of our experiences with you. > > Check in... We waited over two hours for lunch at seaside grille while they were getting our room ready. There were about 15 total patrons in the restaurant. > > Once we got in the room, the remote didn’t work, clock didn’t work, phone didn’t work and we asked 4 times to get a new phone (still doesn’t work after 5 nights), toilet doesn’t flush and jacuzzi tub plug is broken > > Day 2: Willy with the concierge approached us. We thought he was there to help us but in the end he just wanted us to help him by sitting through a 90 minute presentation so he could make money. We spent about 30 minutes trying to help him but couldn’t take “being sold” Into something after the 3rd person tried to close us. When we left the meeting, Willy approached us again wondering why we left and we were honest with him. We are on our honeymoon, we don’t want to sit in a 90 minute meeting trying to be sold something. No one seamed to understand that we were there to try to relax and enjoy time together and in love. Everyone was so pushy and Willy only offered us the Honeymoon package if we sat through the 90 minute sale! The next day he approached us again and wanted us to go to another meeting for 20 minutes so he would get another promotion and for us to get a coupon. Not only did Willy try to up sell us but we were approached in the restaurants with food, wine and especially the lobster. We were constantly approached on the beach & pool side with parasailing, banana ride and lobsters. We can not believe how pushy and aggressive they were with sales. Not a relaxing environment at all! Very disappointed and will have to take a real honeymoon. > > Our house keeping... we made multiple phone calls to get the room cleaned and to obtain new towels. They would take our dirty towels in the morning but wouldn’t give us new towels until 7 or 8 at night. Many times we were trying to get ready for dinner and house keeping would want to clean the room (between 5-6pm). We felt like we had to beg to have the room straightened up and to receive more than 1 towel. > > Service... We noticed there are many staff members, however, they are not accommodating what so ever. At every bar, There would be 4-5 guys at the bar and we would have to interrupt there chit chat to ask for help. They do not offer anything without the customer having to force them to stop talking amongst themselves ....many of them are very short and rude with their responses. If they didn’t have water, I got several “no”. No other additional help or direction. We have been to many other all inclusive resorts, but never experienced suck a lack of accommodation. > > Sailing....To take out the sail NO ONE helped us! There were 8 staff and only 1 helping us so my husband had to help him get the boat in the water. The other 7 guys stood there watching us drag the boat in. Once we were in, It Took us 25 minutes to get past the seaweed (staff could see our trouble) and no one helped us. We were paddling with our hands to get through it and pulling ourselves with the floats. They SeaPro guys had the small boat there, but they were more interested is chatting. again, there were 8 staff members sitting around not helping. Once we cleared the seaweed, we sailed for less than 5 minutes and the boat with staff that should have offered help to start came out yelling at us to turn around and come Back in (time is up!). Even though they clearly saw us struggling to get our passed the seaweed, with no help. > > We attempted to try their services again the next day but with a kayak. My husband and I had to get all the gear while the staff literally sat there and watched us get in the water. The staff is clearly very reactive and not proactive. This is supposedly a 5 star resort with wonderful ratings but in our experience here we have been extremely disappointed. > > Honeymoon... We were told we would have special treatment, flowers, champagne, discounts on spa treatments, etc. Willy told us, if we take care of him he will take care of us. We shouldn’t have to “take care” of someone to get treated nicely on our honeymoon. Willy put a banner on our door and a Milky Way... and that’s it. (Must be bc we didn’t sit through the 90 min presentation)? Was not romantic. Again, we felt like we had to beg to be acknowledged. It was very sad. > > > Over all we are very disappointed with our stay in room 5109. We tipped over $350 over the course of 6 days, but we felt honored to just get a glad of water. The Spa was very nice and the service was great there. We hope you make changes to your staff for future guests and their experiences with you. As we mentioned before, we feel as if we wasted our time off of work to celebrate our love at this “resort”. We are very easy going people and have never complained to management until now (41 years).

Use Liberty Travel, Not Apple Vacations - Never Again!!
SARAH K.
Aug 15 2018
For the past 7 years, my husband and I have done an annual vacation. We've always done business with Liberty Travel, but a friend of ours recommend Apple. After our experience with Apple, our flight, hotel, and overall vacation experience - NEVER AGAIN. As we began planning our trip, I consulted with several Apple representatives, all of whom recommended Punta Cana. After much consideration, our family booked an all-inclusive package to Dreams Palm Beach. After booking, here’s a brief synapsis my family’s disappointing experiences with our Apple Vacation: 3 formal requests via phone were required in order to receive our travel documents. Our agent recommended Dreams Palm Beach because the water is beautiful and untouched by the recent hurricanes (which is also noted on Apple’s introductory recording); however, the water is disgusting! It’s a dark, murky brown and filled with seaweed. After speaking to the Apple representative at Dreams, she informed our family the conditions of the beach is a direct result of the hurricanes and if we wanted a beautiful beach we should travel to La Romana. After our disappointment with the beach and the recommendation of La Romana, I inquired about changing our hotel to Dreams La Romana. It took 2 days for the representative to consider this request. Upon consideration and after the Dreams Apple Agent consulted with a Dreams Agent within the states, I was informed we could make the transition; however, we’d be charged a $789 penalty, not including taxes. Additionally, we’d be responsible for our own transfers between resorts and to the airport for departure. Our room smelled like mold and mildew. Upon speaking with the Dreams Apple Agent, we were told “all rooms smell the same on the resort – it’s a result of having an older property!” The on-sight Apple Agent assisted in scheduling 2 excursions. The anticipated duration for one was 3 hours (actual excursion time was 5.5 hours) and the anticipated duration for another was 4 hours (actual excursion time was 7 hours). The extended times hindered ability to enjoy the pool, resort activities, and plan accordingly for our children (naps, meals, etc.). We never received any information regarding our transfer home. Wait – we did – 5 (Yes, 5!) minutes before our anticipated departure time. Long story short, NEVER AGAIN. If you are looking for an honest and positive experience, utilize a different agency and resort.

Staff and property are great, just one issue.

The only issue I had, and I know it isn’t exclusive to this property, was the ridiculous early hour that the pool lounge chairs get claimed by. I’m on vacation, I want to sleep in a little and have some breakfast. By the time I did that, all the pool chairs were “claimed”. I wound up with bad sunburn on my legs because I couldn’t get a shady spot by the pool or beach. The room was clean and comfortable, service was great, and the food was outstanding!

The pictures on the site don’t do it justice. It is a literal paradise. The staff are some of the warmest and most accommodating people I’ve ever met. There’s so much to do and so much to enjoy. I was there for a week and wished I would’ve booked two weeks because it flew by. I would definitely recommend to family and friends and plan on going back myself.

Terrible seasonal seaweed in ocean made beach enjoyment difficult. Not the fault of the hotel or staff. Blame Mother Nature.

Our family needed a smaller, easily walkable resort with free WiFi and mostly air conditioned facilities. Dreams Palm Beach had all that and more. Paying extra for preferred status gave us access to two air conditioned lounges, two additional pools, and the amazing evening lounge staff, Yogina and Emilio.

Incredible place to stay. Get on a plane get to Punta Cana, get outside and there’s apple vacation staff waiting for you to take you to the resort. Once you get to the resort, every staff member is there to make sure your week is the best most relaxing week. The rooms are clean. Lots of food choices, all the water that they give you at restuarants is purified so don’t be afraid to drink it. All the hotel staff speaks very good English so no trouble there. The are lots of bars and if the drinks aren’t strong don’t be afraid to ask. My one recommendation is to bring lots of singles so that you can tip your bartenders/waiters. The rate for an American dollar is 45-50 pesos so a dollar or more tip will go a long the way for hotel staff. There are always apple vacation staff at the hotel so if there’s any questions or concerns they are there to help. Upon check out they will let you know when you’ll need to be ready in the lobby and once it’s your time all you have to do is get into the van and get dropped off at the airport. I would say that having that easy transition from the airport to the resort and vise versa is cruisal because it’s just one less thing to worry about. Overall stay was amazing and I would 10/10 recommend to a friend about apple vacation and Dreams Palm Beach Resort.

This is our third trip to DR and second stay at a Dreams Resort. To spite the issues with the beach, we had a great stay. Staff did a remarkable job cleaning seaweed off beach daily however could not avoid the impacts of Mother Nature. I knew to expect some seaweed but I did not have any understanding the beautiful blue water would be muddy brown. The main reason we stayed at dreams was because of our prior very positive experience with explorers club. While the Club Facilities at this resort were gorgeous they were situated in an out-of-the-way location that our daughter never felt comfortable using them and explorers club staff did not proactively seek out kids during breakfast like we had experienced elsewhere. This was our first experience with preferred status and I highly recommend it l. seaside Grill was our favorite restaurant for breakfast lunch and dinner. over all beautiful resort and great staff

Overall hotel was very clean. Food was far superior to resort we stayed at in Cancun. Bar service was a bit slow and drinks were very inconsistent - we would order exact same drink and it looked and tasted totally different. We were very disappointed with pool activities and evening entertainment. We had so much fun participating in and watching pool activities at resort in Cancun. The night club was BORING. Very few people mainly due to music - music was totally geared to local 20 year old population. Crowd was a mixture of ages so music should be. A lot of people went to night club and left after 30 min or so. Hotel was very clean and food was decent. Buffet was far superior to what we were expecting. Beach has seaweed. They did try to manage it but it was still an issue. I would recommend this resort IFF you are not interested in pool games and night time entertainment.

Better than we expected, an enjoyable family holiday

You can read my other reviews to see we are a perfectly “normal” young family. We have realistic expectations from our holidays based on what we pay and how much research we do. I booked this holiday on a bit of an impulse purchase on a rainy January evening. Then I looked on here and wondered what on earth we had let ourselves in for. However when we arrived at the resort to big smiles, rum cocktails and cold towels my worries disappeared. Our flight was delayed on the way over so the kids went straight to bed and I went exploring. Yes there was a stink, it was the seaweed but it wasn’t unbearable. I discovered the coco cafe with coffee and cake which made up for it! We paid extra for preferred club and it was worth it, you get an extra lounge, nice quiet pool, mini bar restocked everyday, and snacks in your room each day. The rooms themselves were impeccably clean and no complaints with air con etc. The restaurants were good, we mainly used the world buffet as the kids selection was great but also used the side side restaurant (for preferred club only) and also the beach grill. All food was great quality and we always found something tasty. The staff are a great asset to the hotel, all had a hola for the kids and made a fuss of them. Special mention to Jorge by the preferred family pool. We have travelled to other much smaller Caribbean islands and this is very commercial compared to Antigua, St Lucia and Barbados and lacking a certain rustic charm of those smaller islands. The beach is a real shame if you are going for a beach holiday, but nothing that the hotel can do about it over and above what they are already doing, so no reason to be angry with the resort. The smell is quite bad especially after the rain but as I said it can’t be helped so just get over it! All in all this was just what we needed, a relaxing family break with amazing staff. Thank you Dreams Palm beach xxx

NOT WORTH IT

The location is convenient and the beach is nice. HOWEVER...the rooms are terrible. Our shower was completely broken and it smelled like mildew. The food and drinks are unlimited but it is TERRIBLE..some of the worst food I have ever had at a resort. This is all compounded by how overpriced the rooms were. I had a great time because I was with friends, but I would never come back.

What Is That Smell
Alma D, Houston, Texas, United States
Mon Aug 13 19:03:54 EDT 2018
Stayed here from August 3rd in the preferred section through the 8th and the night of the 5th was horrible. I’m not sure what the smell was most likely sewage that would come and go but on Aug 5th-6th, the smell didn’t go away and I woke up at 2 am nauseous. This smell made me book an excursion in the morning, just to get away from it as I didn’t know if it would go away. At first, I thought it was the seaweed, but nope, the beach smelled better than the resort. Food: French restaurant and hibachi were pretty good. Italian was ok as well as the seaside grill when the smell wasn’t there. The World Buffet-just avoid it, wait too hot and food was not flavorful. Coco cafe had decent coffee and pastries, but nothing to rave about. Drinks: the preferred section has brand names like absolute, tanqueray, disorano, etc. Resort: beautiful landscape, a lot of exotic plants and lots of pools. The rooms are ok, they were remodeled but you could tell their age. The AC unit is old and made a ton of noise. (I’m a super light sleeper and the noise would wake me up at night). The toilet didn’t flush well, and the shelves in the bathroom shower were slanted. The fridge wasn’t that cool. Room 4109. It was cleaned every day. Preferred section: has better lounges, better alcohol and a speedy check in separate from the main lobby, but that’s about it. If you don’t drink, it’s not worth paying extra. Staff: like with any job, you have the happy employees and the grouchy ones, but I can’t blame them. They work long hours, serving people in hot weather. Tipping does help. :) SPA: 50 minute Swedish massage is $129. The room was really small and there was no relaxing music played while I had a massage. The room is pretty outdated and could be refreshed. I heard lots of noise, mainly employees talking, opening and closing doors. This was a really disappointing experience and I even left comments on the sheet they ask you to fill out. The pool at the SPA was really nice! The beach: a lot of seaweed which the hotel cleaned up daily, but no one can keep up with Mother Nature. Plenty of chairs/lounges on the beach. Overall, I would not return to this resort due to the smell. This was the worst resort I ever visited mainly because of the smell that left me nauseous almost daily.

Love this resort. Was my second time here. There was tons of seaweed which was a little disappointing, but if you just go a little ways from the shore, the water is beautiful. Staff is very friendly and attentive. Food and drinks are both great. Would highly recommend this place to anyone!
