Dreams Los Cabos - Outstanding All-inclusive Resort

Family of four visited in late May. This was our 3rd all inclusive and we enjoyed this resort the most. Nice resort, good food, great staff. Fantastic pools but you can't swim in beautiful ocean due to waves (though we knew that when booking). We would highly recommend this resort. Most all inclusive resorts charge younger children (12+) as adults so unfortunately we can no longer make sense of paying the adult price for kids that don't drink or eat like adults. That's very disappointing but all too common with all-inclusive resorts. They need to change this policy.

We had the most relaxing vacation. The food was great. We loved that the resort had restaurants instead of buffets for all our meals. A special shot out to LUIS BARBOZA for being the best server ever!! He made our stay amazing. Our drinks were never empty. And he always brought us what ever we wanted. We truly appreciated his dedication to making our experience very memorable.

The write up about the hotel said it had a 'swimmable beach' and that is one reason I chose it. It was not swimmable and I spoke with the front desk about it.

Our room was very close to the pool and bar area and was loud and very uncomfortable until around 1 am. The music was right under our room and people at the outdoor bar were very loud. We found out there was another building near the adult pool that was more quite and much better.

The beach gets a good only because we can't swim there, no issues really, very clean. We only have one complaint the marketing people and the timeshre pushing in the hotel we said NO but it was continuous. It was only until I told the apple rep did it stop but we advoid that area of the hotel. In fact we never checked into the front desk instead we were routed to the marketing people to check in. That was wrong after having issues with our plane and were delayed 4 hours getting there. This is our only complaint. Then she told us we would be better off at the Sandles resort for adults only! No we had no problems with the kids and had an awesome time at Dreams. We will be going back.

We loved our vacation. It was gorgeous and the people went above and beyond in service. The food was fabulous. Restaurants were unique and the food top quality. Two negatives to be aware of: 1. Rooms not soundproof. Could hear neighbors. And one night there was a band at the pool playing loud until 11:00pm. (We had to get up early the next morning.) 2. You cannot swim on the beach. The pool made up for it though. One thing: Do NOT do the time share presentation. It is not worth the free things they offer you.

Hotel was beautiful, kept clean. Staff very friendly, bilingual. During off season, they rotate what restaurant are open. Unfortunately, buffet was only open 1 of 6 days, being vegan, I had planned on eating from the salad bar. This limited my choices greatly. Minibar not restocked daily, and they removed curtains before our last day which was strange.

We stayed at Dreams Los Cabo's for our honeymoon. We arrived a day or two after one of the worst tropical storms they have seen in over 10 years, so our first impression was not that great. The resort was working at "60%" according to the staff at check in. We are very laid back people and understood the circumstances. Upon check in, we were told they needed to put a $100 hold on a credit card for incidentals, which we were fine with. Until I got an alert on my phone saying that they placed a $450 hold, not $100! They also barrade you with their "Vacation Club" as you check-in and try to get you to buy into it immediately. Initially the water in the shower was brown then cleared within seconds. And then each had seen better days as well. There were trees and debris everywhere. I'm assuming both were from the storm. That being said, the staff and entertainment were excellent! They worked so hard to get the resort back to 100% operational. The food was decent, but they tried to sell you bottles of expensive wines that were not included. We had a great time but just had to stay on our toes more than we had hoped.

Mixed Bag -- but overall very enjoyable

There was a lot of good and also some bad. I really struggled with how many stars to give. The room was great. It was big and clean and felt very comfortable. The resort grounds were just big enough without being too big. It never felt like there wasn't something else to do, or somewhere else to go, etc. In a good way. The pools were great and the beach set-up (despite not being able to get near the water) was amazing. The entire experience was both extremely relaxing and very fun. The staff (when good) made all the difference. When you run into someone who genuinely cares and is happy and wants to see you happy, the experience is elevated incredibly. Our standouts: - Luis Barbossa, our waiter on the beach. Such an amazing attitude. A pleasure to talk to. He was anticipating our needs, filling our drinks, bringing us water, bringing us a snack seemingly (and maybe literally) before we even knew we needed it. - Jonathon, and the rest of the barstaff at Rendezvous the lobby bar. They were fun and genuinely engaged in our good time. He specifically took time to listen to us, craft a unique cocktail for us after really listening to what we liked and what we had in store for the rest of our night, etc. And was always smiling. - Amber at the AMstar tables. This is where you book tours, activities, etc. It's a tough spot, as this is a third party booking a fourth party company. While this process can get tricky, you can tell that Amber is genuine and cares about trying to help you make the most out of your vacation. - The activities team (I don't know what they are called "the fun team" or something? But the people trying to get you to play volleyball and archery, etc) were pleasant, inviting and not pushy. The Bad: - In general the restaurants are not very good. You can not make reservations, they may close them without warning if the occupancy of the hotel is too low, but then you may have a long wait when they are open. Does this make sense? Didn't to me. Then there was the food. At their best they could use some menu editing. I admit I don't always order the safest things on the menu... but if they are on your menu, do them better. Portofino served a disgrace of a waterlogged, obviously previously frozen and mushy carpaccio that should just be removed from the menu so no one ever has to eat. And the pasta at Portofino was just bland. However, our experience at Portofino was exponentially better than Bordeaux. I truly wish I could do another review just for Bordeaux (and it would be one star). Just skip it. The waiter (I remember his name, but will spare him) did everything he could to ruin our night... from our wine selection conversation and his proclamation that he wanted to help us have a special night by bringing us a special bottle of wine (after discussing several French options on the wine menu) he took the menu away and brought us a Mexican wine that he gave us the hard hard hard sell on... and obviously it was terrible. (and also was brought to every other table we saw that night)... the rest of the night followed suit: - He tried to push towards the most economical and easiest items. It was obvious and embarrassing. - The food was average and often not as advertised (the terrine was simply not a terrine, the mini croquembouche was just a couple of cream puffs) - And after discussing that is was my girlfriend's birthday with him a couple of times and with the hostess when we checked in, we watched two other tables right next to us get a whole birthday song and candle show while nothing was even offered to me. Even the romantic dinner on the beach that I planned through the concierge involved at least one bait-and-switch on the menu (one that you are conveniently not offered a chance to look at outside of the concierge desk days in advance)... this was otherwise and amazing dinner and experience, however by this point in our trip we were not expecting a meal through the resort to be without issue.

Rescued from Bad Condo Experience in Cabo

My wife & I had reserved a condo in Cabo thru a Business Trade Company. When we arrived it was being re-modeled in a construction zone with jack hammering going on. We immediately got on the internet to search for a resort that had availabity. We came across Dreams Los Cabos. The rate was fair so we booked it for 7 days & jumped into a cab. We were pleasantly surprised upon arrival. We were shown to our junior suite overlooking the adult quiet pool and ocean view. The room was very nicely furnished, had a great shower, balcony, and daily stocked mini bar. We enjoyed the adult pool every day with shady umbrellas & super comfy lounge chairs. We lunched at both Oceana which features seafood & Seaside Grill has a wide variety of food. The service & food in both were excellent. Our poolside waiter, Isadoro, was very fun and gave us great cocktail service daily. We looked forward to seeing him every day. The evening dining experience consist of basically 3 different restaurants. Our favorite was Portofino for Italian. The risotto as well as the other dishes were excellent & the dining room was beautiful. We ate once in the Bordeaux French themed restaurant which was elegant, great food and service. We also had steaks one night at the Seaside Grill which were cooked perfectly and delicious. Great service there as well. For breakfast in the morning the World Cafe has an excellent selection of buffet items including omlet bar and even mexican dishes. My favorite was the tostadas! We enjoyed Sonia's service for coffee and drinks. She is always smiling and very friendly. You could tell the other diners did as well! The only thing I think the resort was missing for a 7 day stay is more restaurant options as well as evening bars and lounges. There is a night club but that's not my preference. The resort is not huge like a lot of all-inclusives so maybe that's why. We got lucky that it was not very busy the first week of June. All in all we had a great time and felt very relaxed.

Relaxing vacation in Cabo

I’m still at Dreams resort but my vac is almost coming to an end, so decided to write my review. Cabo’s weather is very different than other parts of MX, so I would recommend taking a light jacket. It’s bit dry, so some days when you feel the breeze it actually feels bit chilly. For restaurants, they’re all really good. I didn’t do much research this trip, but the restaurants actually have a dress code. Bordeaux (French) men need slacks and closed toe shoes. My husband did not pack any pants, but the concierge actually has slacks you can borrow (lol). We did do that. He wore his Keenes with socks (yes goofy) and they still let him in. Portofino (Italian) men need collar shirts, (shorts OK). We did go there and he had a regular T shirt on and he was turned away and he had to go back to the room to change). Oceana (Seafood place and my absolute fav), this place is open for dinner and lunch and it’s casual dress code, it’s right by the adult pool. I went there on a lunch after lounging by adult pool, I had a cover up (like the jacket kind and you’re front area still shoes bathing suit) they wouldn’t let me in. I’ve seen ladies go in there with a cover up but it needs to be one of those that looks like a dress cover up (not open in the front). Food wise they’re all really good. If you love seafood like me, you’ll LOVE Oceana! (Coconut shrimp is amazing and so is the stuffed pepper). My second fav was Portofino, French place was my least fav but I recommend trying there at least once. Also, not every restaurants are open every night so be sure you check it in advance (especially if you’re like me who likes to plan where to eat which days, lol). We did room service most days for breakfast, which was very good. We got an ocean front view so we would sit on our patio and enjoy our breakfast. BTW, take your binoculars!! It’s monterray season right now. We saw them jumping like crazy!! Right in front of our room on our patio (with our binoculars!!). Snorkeling in Cabo isn’t the best. The water is bit murky and only limited spots here seem to have snorkeling. We did the snorkeling trip through the resort (with the entertainment staff to Chileno Bay- which is where most of the boat snorkeling tours go to, lol). It’s only $20 total and they go on T and F. Take your own snorkeling gear if possible the ones they offer are horrible. The rooms are spacious. They send housekeeping in the morning but I love how they fix up your room again in the evenings (when we are done for dinner). The shows are OK... This resort is definitely more of a quiet place but they do offer basic shoes in the evening. There’s not too many ppl here right now which is nice. Never felt overcrowded in any places. You can go into town for $30 one way or $60. The hotel does offer shuttles for $7/$14 RT. The buses I think was only $2. I never took the bus but ppl said it’s safe and easy. We spent most of our time hanging out by the adult pool. It was nice and quiet and very relaxing. One week truly relaxing vacation. We really enjoyed our stay here at Dreams Cabo and recommend it for anybody (prob more for couples than with ppl with families).

Dreams as always

We have been going to Dreams since 2002 and this year was the best yet! The rooms and the facility are always excellent and this year the food service has made a quantum leap. Portofino was the best and has surpassed Bordeaux as our favorite. Martin, the new Chef is wonderful, very creative and we can only hope he stays, he is a great talent. Ricardo, the manager has this restaurant running like a fine tuned machine; he is everywhere and leads by example. Two of our waiters Felipe and Jose were a pleasure to have as servers. Oceana has improved greatly, Luis set up a special dinner for us that was wonderful, Armando has done an excellent job of raising the bar at this beautiful seaside restaurant. Bordeaux, which has been their top restaurant has room for improvement, the service is always wonderful, but the menu is in need of a freshening and the quality is slipping. The Seaside Grill has improved their menu at dinner and was a pleasant surprise, Omar, the manager, is very competent, in addition to overseeing the restaurant, he prepares tableside entrees, such as tuna flambé to perfection. Lunch has always been a staple with a wide variety and wonderful servers like Jose and Gloria the cook. The World Cafe has a great buffet breakfast, our waiter Martin( no glasses) and Carlos were great, Mirabelle makes the best huevos rancheros and omelets. At night El Patio needs a lot of improvement. The pool area is very well managed by Magdiel and he has a great team, Elsa, Luis and Manuel are the best group you could ever ask for and Antonio is the best mixologist anywhere and is extremely fun to be around. Julio, of the entertainment team, is the best we have ever had, he keeps everyone involved and entertained. Overall Dreams is always an enjoyable week and we look forward to going every year.

Meh...not worth the money

We went here to attend a destination wedding. We were immediately singled out for some unknown reason to be the victims of their Ponzi "join our club" cult. DO NOT GET YOURSELVES SUCKED INTO THE BULL CRAP AS IT IS NOT WORTH THE TIME!!! We managed to escape once we found out that the hour they assured us it would take turned out to be 6 hours. It is an all inclusive including alcohol. Neither of us drink so I am not sure about the alcohol quality but I did see lots of filled glasses making their way to the dirty dish bin. The food is not good. I mean seriously not good. I mean like on par with McDonalds. The only exception is the breakfast buffet which had a large selection to choose from so you didn't get stuck with cardboard covered in goo. The vista is wonderful and the rooms are clean and comfortable. The price is way to expensive for the amenities offered. So, meh. Asi asi. Not worth the money!
