Overall the hotel was well-kept and beautiful A couple of issues that we encountered was the buffet was closed for three consecutive nights One of the nights they did have a Mexican fiesta outside but there was no exclamation for the other two nights

Things that should be improved

We've been at Dreams many times but this time we were greatly upset that our room and another couple that joined us on this trip each had two double beds instead of one king We met with the manager on duty and she said NOTHING could be done to change us to a room with a king! Instead housekeeping pushed two double beds togethrer and changed bedding. Not acceptable!! 2. You have to come up with a plan to add more lounge chairs at pools and beach. Having to get up in the dark in the morning to claim chairs is crazy. Also having security take your posessions off chairs if left for thirty minutes is insane ! 3. We wanted a photo that was taken by your photographer on Valentines Day. I got a voucher that I was to take to main desk to pay $10 and then return paid receipt to photo station on lower level. When I went to main desk in lobby they wanted to see my PASSPORT !! They expected me to go to my room and bring my passport for them ! That's crazy too !! We presented our passports upon check in! My buddy had to go to the pool to get his room key go to his room to get his passport then go to main desk then bring the paid receipt to photo booth !!! My wife and I are scheduled to return to Dreams at Huatulco March 30 2019 and I certainly hope you can male sure we have a KING BED and it would be a peace maker to us if you would upgrade our room on a complimentary action to make up for the shortcomings on our February visit. Thank you .

Hotel & staff excellent, food needs flavor

The staff is excellent, they are willing to help you with anything you need. The hotel could use a little updating, tiles in hallway are cracked and need replacing. The food needs a lot of help. The food needs flavor, spices would be nice. The Mexican restaurant food was very bland. The Asian restaurant was the best. The desserts could also use more flavor. Again, the staff was wonderful. Just a want to mention Carmen at the SeaSide Grill for breakfast. She was wonderful.

Dreams to Secrets don't do it!
ANTHONY M.
Feb 10 2019
We were continually asked to check out Secrets Resorts and being told it would be even better than the Dreams Resort. We turned the offer down twice until half way thru our vacation it said that Dreams was over booked and would we be willing to switch. As it was just my husband and myself we checked with the concierge and were reassured that it would be better and that our privileged status would apply. We told them we had an excursion planned for the day they wanted us to go but would be willing to do so. They informed us that our room would be ready when we got to the new resort. Things went horribly wrong the transfer basically felt like we were dumped off and not a Welcome guest! The room was not ready and would not be ready until after 5:00 pm and to go find a pool or the beach to hang out in! No one offered us a drink or a cool cloth, nothing! So we searched around until we found the pool hung around there until 5 pm. We then went to the lobby at Secrets and after being passed around to 3 different receptionist (not like a Dreams with a Concierge) were taken to our room with 2 double beds! (We had requested and received a KING and paid for an upgrade at Dreams!) We went to the lobby and said this is not going to work got passed around again! We then asked to go back to Dreams and where we were staying there and basically told no it can't happen! When trying to get the Apple REP “SVEN” to help, he left as it was after 5. Very disappointed that is half of why we book with Apple is for the help if we need it! Trying to follow up with an Apple Rep at Secrets was a waste of time! They also had an Apple dinner at one of the restraunts sponsored by the Apple Rep and only certain guest were invited! At this point if we could have flown home we would have very disappointing. But we had to stick it out! They put the 2 beds together but if you rolled over or cuddled during the night it was very uncomfortable. I have booked numerous vacations in the last 15 years to Mexico and never have been treated like I didn't count like we did on this visit. We feel we should be compensated for not getting our Preferred Status at Secrets and all the hassles, the second part of this vacation was far from relaxing!

The hotel was lovely. People tht worked there overall great. Problem getting chairs by the pool and beach. There was no surveillance of people holding chairs and many of the chairs in the shade were “reserved” by 6:30am. That was disappointing and somewhat ridiculous that we had to get up that early so that we could have chairs. Also, we paid extra for the “preferred” room. The room and concierge room was nice. However there was no monitoring of the special beach chair area. Anyone could sit there. Again, disappointing and made for a problem for us in the morning. In addition the wi-if worked very poorly throughout the resort and we ended up not being able to use it the majority of the time.

Worst vacation ever with Apple, and we have been on many.

Dec 17 2018
Worst vacation we have ever had with Apple. The food was poor quality and not warm in the buffet. The room was extremely noisy, music was loud and the clean up crews carts were naisy. We could not sleep. The tiles in the halls were loose and the overall condition of the facility was poor. Apple should refund our money or give us another vacation. Denny Mehling

Hotel is great, staff exceeds all expectations, maid service excellent. Food preparation needs some adjustment, everything is too salty, all beef very though or over marinated. Need more see food, better shrimp selection, lobster night would be great. Italian needs to be ITALIAN! not Mexican. Mexican was very good. See Food Restaurant, why call it that, come to Chicago go to Boston Sea Food Supply or even our Red Lobster. not very good. Bahia in Riviera Maya has great food.

Apple rep Anthony is the best, very good people person, took two side tours with Anthony. Coffee plantations must do something with the food, make it simple lunch, tacos, burritos etc. Hotel menu needs more sea food, shrimp, lobster etc. Beef very though and everything seems to be over salted. Breakfast need more salami, prosciutto, very poor selection of cold cuts. Food selection must improve!!!

Home sweet home; impeccable service and cleanliness

My wife and I went to the Dreams resort from March 5- 12th. This was our second visit to this wonderful resort, and we will not go to any other resort than this one. When we arrived, we were treated like royalty. We arrived with a banner across our door showing that we were repeat guests. Everywhere you looked, there were banners celebrating honeymooners, people celebrating birthdays, and they make you feel right at home. Adrian Bohorquez, e- concierge manager, communicated with us professionally, and with unparallelled kindness , Made sure that we were pampered and spoiled while we were here. Bottle of wine and apples upon arrival;Messaging us with events that are happening in the resort that we wanted to go and take part in; and helping us source a specific type of tea that you cannot find in Canada that we wanted to buy from them to take home with us. Thank you Adrian for all you have done to ensure that we were taken care of wonderfully. The food was very good. The people are what make the world Cafe awesome as they serve you and are so attentive to make sure that you have a great dining experience. The three people at the world café that stood out to us the most while there, are Rogelio, Luisa, And Anna. Their service, with a smile, brightened the room up, and you felt like you were family. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. The nightly entertainment was also very good to us. One dancer in particular who befriended us while there was a dancer named Raquel. She made us feel so welcome before and after the show. Whoever sees this post from the Dreams please let her know how much that meant to us. She is a wonderful person, and the whole group deserves a round of applause for the hard work put into the dance routine choreography. We did fruit carving on the Saturday while there, and Daniel was very talented in showing us how to make a swan out of an apple, and a rose out of a radish. Milagros Also deserves a heartfelt thank you for translating for us, and also for being such an active person in the activities area calling out bingo, aerobics, and other events that I am sure we did not see. The rooms and the resort were kept spotless. The floors glimmered in the nighttime lights as we made our way back-and-forth from our room. There was a pest control person who came around the resort to spray to keep the insect population down. That speaks volumes to us when you see the care and the effort put into keeping a resort spotless and pest free as best as you can. We went to the Himitsu restaurant, and it was very good. The service was good, and so was the food. El Patio restaurant was very good as well, and the food was good. On one of the plates, they serve grasshoppers. For those not used to that kind of food fair, please understand that it is a part of eating culture in Mexico. I simply left them on the plate, and ate around them. If we had any hiccups at all while there, it would have to be at the Portofino restaurant. Other guests at the resort raved about the food and the quality. However, we found the service to be inconsistent, and the food at the appetizer table was very empty when we got there. Some people were being served fresh buns, but none were offered to us while there. The appetizer table was filled about 10 or 15 minutes after we arrived, but by then we had felt that it was just not a good night to continue eating there, so we politely left. This minor inconvenience was still nothing to take us away from giving a five star review of this wonderful hotel. The swimming pools were kept spotless and clean daily. We did a lot of swimming and relaxing in the pool, and there was always somebody there to take your order for drinks, and to bring them to you wherever you were. Everywhere you looked, there were people relaxing, having fun, and wishing they did not have to go home. Being that we are home now, we miss being with our friends that have become like our family at the Dreams resort in Huatulco. The rooms and the bed were kept spotless. The cleaning personnel do a great job in making sure that everything is well stocked in the fridge, and that bathroom amenities are kept full at all times. There was only one day where that we did not have any suntan lotion, but we left a note, and there was suntan lotion promptly given to us in the hallway before we got to our room. Talk about great service! The air-conditioner worked very well for us, and it kept the room as comfortable as it could being that the temperature was well over 30°C with a very high humidity. The room we were given while there was nothing short of perfection. With my wife’s heart condition, it was the perfect location for us. If possible, can we have that room next year? Hoping it is a possibility! Now.. some people have voiced concerns that it is “ slightly dated”. I guess it depends what lifestyle you come from. If you are rich and New York way of living, then yes, it is not sparkly glitzy like the floors they keep. However, this resort is maintained immaculately, with near perfect service and kindness. There is one person who I want to commend, but I don’t have his name. He patrols the check in and check outs of the kayaks, and sailboats. You see, while out kayaking 2 days into our holiday, a wave tipped me out of the kayak, and I couldn’t get back in. I was a good kilometre away from the resort, and thought I was in for a 3-4 hour swim; worrying my wife sick with worry. After pushing the kayak and swimming for about 15 minutes, a wave runner came speeding out to rescue me, and get me back in the kayak to paddle back at my insistence. I was grouchy and wanted to finish what I started, but full of thankfulness that the men on shore make sure they check to make sure we are safe. Yes, I tipped the man, but I didn’t get his name. Thank you for saving me a 3 hour swim and a ton of worry on my wife. I owe you big time. We promise you all that we will be back next year. The only question is when we will show up, and whether we can find a way to make it a two week holiday instead of a one week holiday. As another man at the resort said “ Why go looking for perfection when perfection is right here?” Thank you everyone at Dreams Huatulco. We love you all and can’t wait to see you next year. Be blessed everyone!

Excellent!

A big thank you to all the staff at dreams huatulco for making me feel welcome again! And an even bigger thank you to Julio the restaurant manager who always makes me smile with his friendly and professional demeanor. I also want to thank the lifeguard Eferan for treating my very painful sun burn. His smiling face and pleasant attitude made my day. Thank you again, see yeah next year. Elishia

During stay at resort we dined at Oceana and Seaside Grill. Manager Diego Milangos server Anotonio Santoya and Chef Pascual Santiago treated us like royalty by making and serving a shrimp dish not on the menu. The best shrimp and rice dish I have ever tasted. I cannot thank them enough for making our stay exceptional!! I highly recommend this resort. I cannot wait to go back.

Great location. You could walk out of the resort and do a little shopping or eating. The drive to town was a 10 minute drive by cab. The rooms were large, fully stocked and very clean. No reservations needed for the restaurants. Captain Manuel and all of the waiting staff were amazing.

Return stay and it gets better everytime.

I highly recommend Dreams. We really enjoyed our two week vacation. We have stayed at this resort before and we have always been very satisfied, in fact it seems to get better every year. The hotel is great and the staff are fantastic. The food was exceptional, during the two weeks we were there we enjoyed dinner in all of the restaurants and I must say the food and service was exceptional. A few of the staff I would like to make special mention of are the restaurant manager Julio Larrazabal, Saoes Chef Rogelio Garca, Chef Adul Alvarez and assistant Jorge Brisento. Guillermo and Angel at the bar always saw to it that we were being taken care of. Dreams Huatulco has become our favorite destination and we will definitely be back.
