Hotel was nice. All entertainment was for spanish speaking only. Volaris does NOT have first class.

I would have not paid for 'Preferred Plus' if I knew that Volaris did not have first class seating.

huatulco - dreams resort vacation
MARTIN T.

Loved the Dreams resort absolute perfect weather every day even though it said chance of storms several days, we never hardly saw one cloud.. restaurant situation was a bit “off” the Mexican restaurant was closed due to a jewish group being there and using it the ENTIRE week for all their meals.. so the resort had to shut down the seafood restaurant several days in order to service Mexican food there.. and the Italian restaurant closed one night as well…. We had thought all five restaurants were to be open every night…. Some of the food tasted the same in several restaurants, we did enjoy several good dinners though.. The issue for dinner for us was that after showering and dressing up, it would have been nice to eat at an AIR CONDITIONED dining room… all but the Italian restaurant is outdoors, and in Huatulco, the temp and humidity are very high and can get uncomfortable while your eating…. The Italian is also the most formal restaurant. Just would have liked to dine in comfortable temperatures in the evening after being in the heat/sun all day…. Staff was excellent.. a few language barriers at times in translating what we wanted or needed… but nothing that we couldn’t handle….. our stay was excellent.. Took a waterfall tour… that was nice… the two hour horrific rocky/bumpy road to the mountains was less than enjoyable though… originally we had booked an ATV ride to the mountains which got cancelled due to the community protesting and blocking the roads, so we ended up booking through doing the Van ride to the mountain for same price. Also took a boat/snorkel tour… saw turtles, dolphins, did some fishing, ate ashore (exchange rate was a ripoff ashore btw… lunch cost us $150 american dollars for tacos guacamole and a couple beers) – next time we skip the lunch and head back to hotel earlier….saw some very exotic cool fish.. our diver caught a puffer fish and let us hold it, as well as several star fish… got some great underwater photos/videos We didn’t realize it was the week when thousands of people from Mexico city flock to the pacific coast for their religious holiday… so after three nice and relaxed uncrowded days by our pool/resort, we were bombarded with hundreds of family with small kids who some of which had no disregard for smoking, running in between our pool chairs and not being supervised…. Lucky they mostly left after wednesday evening, so we had Thursday and Friday back to somewhat quieter resort. Nightlife no good for teens

I would recommend offering some healthier food options. All veggies had butter or oil and even fish was offered with a lot of oil. I tried to ask for my fish to be grilled one day and they said that the cook doesn't cook on the grill station and could only prepare it on the griddle.

Very impressed with Dreams Hotel and Huatulco. The weather is best in Mexico, hotel was immaculate and the staff went out of their way to provide service. Lots of options for dinner. Different pools and bars for different speeds. The Huatulco area is surrounded by national national parks and the Sierra Madres Mountain range provides an excellent background. Clean beaches and great snorkeling. Also rafting, fishing and waterfalls. If you want to experience a five star hotel at a good price, try the Dreams.

Won't be back,ever!

We came here for a wonderful event. My step daughter was getting married here. First impressions are great. The resort is in a beautiful setting with fantastic views. The rooms are very clean and the staff was very friendly. The 5 pools are very nice and clean and we'll situated with views of the ocean. This is where the good ends. My biggest complaint is with the food. You are required to buy a meal plan here and they boasts about their 5 restaurants. Well the way it really works is that they only open the restaurant that they want you to eat at. Mostly their World restaurant is open which is nothing more than a poor cafeteria. In fact I've eaten at better cafeterias. Most food is over cooked and one dimensional, mush. At lunch they have available a "New York " steak. Or so they call it. The only thing New York about it is I think they drug it behind a truck from New York to get it here. We tried all the restaurants with complete disgust, except for the Porto Fino which served nice, not great, Italian food. The kicker here is that they call this their "formal" restaurant so no shorts, not even nice Tommy Bahama shorts! Long pants only. I've eaten at nice restaurants in Europe that allowed shorts! Go to any restaurant in Hawaii and you can wear shorts! These guys want you to dress up in a tropical humid local! I decide on where to spend my descrestionary income based on value and enjoyment. That greatly includes the food. At Dreams you are forced to eat their lousy food at their terms. To get anything else would require a cab fare to the city. There's nothing else around! That's after you've paid for their "meal plan". Last night my brother in law sent back 2 bottles of champagne as they were flat! The wine Stewart was arguing with him that they were fine when clearly they were not! The cork just slid out of the bottle with no pop! On both of them! It's a shame that such a beautiful place has such horrible food service. No, we will never be back and I will spend my money elsewhere. Also I will discourage people I know from coming here, unless they don't mind lousy food.

Such a scam

Dreams is the epitome of what a scam is. They advertise and promise SO much, and yet only deliver about 1/8 of it. If this hotel weren't in Mexico, there would be lawsuits galore for misleading the customer and false advertising. When you look at their website and see al the amenities they offer, you think wow, this hotel seems great! But once you get there they come up with every excuse as to why it's not "available", and they get away with it, because in the fine print it says "subject to availability". In that case I can say come to my store and you'll get $100 just for coming! In fine print I'll just say subject to availability and I'm off the hook after tricking customers into thinking they're getting something they're clearly not. I was excited for all the daily activities they offered. Went to the activities desk one morning and was told archery was not available and hadn't been for a long time. The young man said the targets and equipment had been broken for MONTHS, and they still advertised they offered that activity! I showed him the app the hotel asks you to download in order to see the activity schedules. Clearly states archery is at 11:00am. The employee just shrugged and blamed it on the concierge for not updating it. Such a scam. Also, as others have pointed, they CONSTANTLY change the restaurant schedule last minute, and then inconvenience the guest by making them change for their error. I almost fell in one of the restaurants because the tiles were lifted off the floor! Extremely dangerous, and yet the staff didn't care. You've been warned... It's a fair name for the hotel though - Dreams, because what they offer is only available in their dreams and not in real life.

HORRIBLE, steer clear! A motel 6 is better than this place.

“Unlimited luxury” is their slogan. They should definitely look of the definition of those words because what they offer is certainly not that. The grounds are incredibly old and outdated. Broken tiles, chipped walls and ceilings. It rained when we got there and the already slippery tile got even more slippery! Super dangerous! Whose genius idea was it to design a hotel this way knowing it’s a humid, tropical place with rain??? Rooms themselves are honestly comparable to a roadside motel, they simply try to make it look nicer with cheap paint. Organization doesn’t exist. Their TV and app say different things regarding their restaurant schedules. We checked and it said X restaurant was open, so we dressed “accordingly”. Got there and they said that one wasn’t going to open and that restaurant Y was open instead. Well turns out that one had a formal attire required, so we had to go change because of THEIR mistake. Second day there the power went out at around 6-7 AM. Called the front desk at about 9:30 and asked when the power would be back and the lady immediately blamed the electric company. Ummm you do know that when you’re charging people for power, even though you’re not the actual provider of it, you’re still responsible to some degree, ESPECIALLY since you’re charging guests for a service you’re not even providing. Every single hotel I’ve stayed at has had back up generators exactly for situations like these. Lady said they did have a back up emergency generator...wow one for the whole resort? Really? You consider yourself a 4 start hotel with “unlimited luxury” with no back up generators? Ridiculous. Literally the only good thing about this place is the service and staff. Whenever I’d talk to them, they agreed with me and said “unfortunately we just work here and have no say in the matter, but we totally understand”. They seriously can not justify charging so much for that they offer.

Relaxing, fun, and great food

This hotel is an excellent choice to stay in the Tangolunda Bay of Huatulco, very close to the town, the airport and an eco-archeological site. The food is great in all of the restaurants, but what we enjoyed the most was the Oaxacan chocolate ice cream in El Patio. There is plenty to do in Huatulco, but even spending entire days in the hotel can be really fun, since there is aquatic sporting equipment available, a beautiful beach, and a very enthusiastic entertainment team who perform live dance and music shows, and also host karaoke nights.

Lots of fun and great value

This place stands out among many other resorts by offering a la carte food during your entire stay along with quality drinks. Also the non motorized aquatic sports are always accesible. The day trip to the falls is a must. Great place for big groups including kids.
