This resort needs to understand the true meaning of vacation for their guests. When you get early every day for work and come from a colder climate and not used to the sun.....it's not a "vacation" when you have to get up early to reserve a lawn chair so you don't come home with a horrible sunburn or heat stroke. Everyone should have an umbrella available to them and should not have to fight to get a place on the resort that provides relief from the sun. Playa Mita- Iberostar is the only resort we have gone to that takes care of their guests and want to ensure everyone can enjoy the sun and their resort. Other places should raise the bar and make all guest happy and get what they are paying for...…"A GREAT VACATION".

Things that should be improved

We've been at Dreams many times but this time we were greatly upset that our room and another couple that joined us on this trip each had two double beds instead of one king We met with the manager on duty and she said NOTHING could be done to change us to a room with a king! Instead housekeeping pushed two double beds togethrer and changed bedding. Not acceptable!! 2. You have to come up with a plan to add more lounge chairs at pools and beach. Having to get up in the dark in the morning to claim chairs is crazy. Also having security take your posessions off chairs if left for thirty minutes is insane ! 3. We wanted a photo that was taken by your photographer on Valentines Day. I got a voucher that I was to take to main desk to pay $10 and then return paid receipt to photo station on lower level. When I went to main desk in lobby they wanted to see my PASSPORT !! They expected me to go to my room and bring my passport for them ! That's crazy too !! We presented our passports upon check in! My buddy had to go to the pool to get his room key go to his room to get his passport then go to main desk then bring the paid receipt to photo booth !!! My wife and I are scheduled to return to Dreams at Huatulco March 30 2019 and I certainly hope you can male sure we have a KING BED and it would be a peace maker to us if you would upgrade our room on a complimentary action to make up for the shortcomings on our February visit. Thank you .

Hotel & staff excellent, food needs flavor

The staff is excellent, they are willing to help you with anything you need. The hotel could use a little updating, tiles in hallway are cracked and need replacing. The food needs a lot of help. The food needs flavor, spices would be nice. The Mexican restaurant food was very bland. The Asian restaurant was the best. The desserts could also use more flavor. Again, the staff was wonderful. Just a want to mention Carmen at the SeaSide Grill for breakfast. She was wonderful.

Dreams to Secrets don't do it!
ANTHONY M.
Feb 10 2019
We were continually asked to check out Secrets Resorts and being told it would be even better than the Dreams Resort. We turned the offer down twice until half way thru our vacation it said that Dreams was over booked and would we be willing to switch. As it was just my husband and myself we checked with the concierge and were reassured that it would be better and that our privileged status would apply. We told them we had an excursion planned for the day they wanted us to go but would be willing to do so. They informed us that our room would be ready when we got to the new resort. Things went horribly wrong the transfer basically felt like we were dumped off and not a Welcome guest! The room was not ready and would not be ready until after 5:00 pm and to go find a pool or the beach to hang out in! No one offered us a drink or a cool cloth, nothing! So we searched around until we found the pool hung around there until 5 pm. We then went to the lobby at Secrets and after being passed around to 3 different receptionist (not like a Dreams with a Concierge) were taken to our room with 2 double beds! (We had requested and received a KING and paid for an upgrade at Dreams!) We went to the lobby and said this is not going to work got passed around again! We then asked to go back to Dreams and where we were staying there and basically told no it can't happen! When trying to get the Apple REP “SVEN” to help, he left as it was after 5. Very disappointed that is half of why we book with Apple is for the help if we need it! Trying to follow up with an Apple Rep at Secrets was a waste of time! They also had an Apple dinner at one of the restraunts sponsored by the Apple Rep and only certain guest were invited! At this point if we could have flown home we would have very disappointing. But we had to stick it out! They put the 2 beds together but if you rolled over or cuddled during the night it was very uncomfortable. I have booked numerous vacations in the last 15 years to Mexico and never have been treated like I didn't count like we did on this visit. We feel we should be compensated for not getting our Preferred Status at Secrets and all the hassles, the second part of this vacation was far from relaxing!

The hotel was lovely. People tht worked there overall great. Problem getting chairs by the pool and beach. There was no surveillance of people holding chairs and many of the chairs in the shade were “reserved” by 6:30am. That was disappointing and somewhat ridiculous that we had to get up that early so that we could have chairs. Also, we paid extra for the “preferred” room. The room and concierge room was nice. However there was no monitoring of the special beach chair area. Anyone could sit there. Again, disappointing and made for a problem for us in the morning. In addition the wi-if worked very poorly throughout the resort and we ended up not being able to use it the majority of the time.

Worst vacation we have ever had with Apple. The food was poor quality and not warm in the buffet. The room was extremely noisy, music was loud and the clean up crews carts were naisy. We could not sleep. The tiles in the halls were loose and the overall condition of the facility was poor. Apple should refund our money or give us another vacation. Denny Mehling

Hotel is great, staff exceeds all expectations, maid service excellent. Food preparation needs some adjustment, everything is too salty, all beef very though or over marinated. Need more see food, better shrimp selection, lobster night would be great. Italian needs to be ITALIAN! not Mexican. Mexican was very good. See Food Restaurant, why call it that, come to Chicago go to Boston Sea Food Supply or even our Red Lobster. not very good. Bahia in Riviera Maya has great food.

Nice Resort

We just wrapped up our visit to Dreams in Huatulco. I would actually give it 3.5 stars. Here are some of the things we found: Pros- Great service and staff were incredibly kind. Beach is beautiful. Water is clean and warm, no rocks or coral underfoot, and there were a decent number of water sport options. Rooms were clean and housekeeping did a great job. Cons- Food was decent but 3 of us had some minor stomach issues while we were there. Kitchen staff did not wear gloves and there wasn't hand sanitizer available (much less encouraged) at the buffets. As a family of 4, sleeping in 2 double beds was not the most comfortable. The resort is kept very clean but it could definitely use a facelift and some more trees and shrubs to break up the pools and buildings. Overall, we had a good vacation but we will try a different resort if we return to Huatulco.

Excellent Resort

We chose this resort because of the size. We prefer smaller resorts and it was exactly what we were looking for. Resort was clean, rooms were nice, food was great and staff were excellent. Had a wonderful time.

We booked a 10 day vacation through WestJet Vacations. The flights were great, we were warned by someone on our flight about the timeshare people in the airport. Once we arrived at the Huatulco airport we were stopped by someone wearing a Secrets/Dreams shirt, not realizing this was the “timeshare” people we were warned about. He was pressuring us into meeting with him and taking a tour of the secrets resort in exchange for coupons for snorkelling & a cruise. We did not commit to anything. We missed our shuttle to the resort and ended up taking a taxi. Check in was a breeze. We were in a tropical view king room with a jacuzzi on the 4th floor overlooking the adults pool & Asian restaurant. The room was nice, definitely not a 4.5-5 star but was clean. Bed and pillows were not comfortable and difficult to get a good nights rest, we ended up calling the concierge for new pillows which were a little better. There was a small safe in the room. There is a fridge in the room stocked with water, pop, juice & beer somedays it was restocked and somedays it wasn’t. The air conditioning was loud and never completely cooled the room off, we had it set at 18 Celsius and the temperature never dropped below 21.5 Celsius. When the maids would come in during the day they would shut of the air conditioning and not turn it back on, after a day outside we would return and our room was between 24-26 Celsius. There was a DVD player in the room, one evening we were going to have a quiet night in so we went to concierge to see their selection of DVDs and the maybe had 10 DVDs all very dated and some were in English & some Spanish. The unlimited vacation club had a desk & employees in the lobby. I can’t emphasize enough how the unlimited vacation club staff put a damper on our vacation. They say they are not timeshare but essentially that is what they are. We avoided the lobby at all costs during our vacation to avoid them. The resort overall is beautiful, and you couldn’t ask for nicer more hardworking staff at Dreams resort. But... There are many loose tiles when walking throughout common areas and hallways that are a hazard. The wifi was poor, very slow during the day and evening which I assume is just too many users because when I couldn’t sleep at 4am and would use the Internet it would work great. The pool areas NEED to be patrolled better as many people would reserve chairs with towel before sunrise making it very difficult to find a chair with any time or chase or umbrella this is fine if these people actually used their chairs but sometimes all you would see is their towels there all day. Maybe the resort should consider getting more umbrellas? We were up before 8 most mornings and never once were able to get chairs at the infinity pools. Over the weekend we were there it was a Spanish holiday Benito Juárez Birthday, the resort filled up with locals. It was even more difficult to find a chair at the beach or pool during this time. You could see that locals did get some preferential treatment and were not considerate of others one group was playing in the pool with a volleyball and hit an elderly woman with it and didn’t even apologize! Local children swimming in the adults only pools, completely disrespectful of the rules and the staff did nothing to stop it. This is unacceptable, when you are paying a large amount of money to spend time at their resort! The beach is beautiful, the water is warm somedays you could swim in the ocean and other days it was a bit to rough. At the beach you will be approached by locals trying to sell tours and trinkets. The food was average, we did get a chance to try all the restaurants. The unfortunate thing is not all restaurants are open every day, check channel 2-101 on your TV and you will see which restaurants are open. We did have gastrointestinal issues, unfortunately to be expected when you travel to Mexico. Take your ducoral before to you come! They do try and sell you wines that are not included at some of the ala carte restaurants, so be careful of that. - World cafe buffet open for breakfast lunch & dinner casual wear we enjoyed the omelette station in the morning and the station where they would cook up the meat of your choice at lunch and supper on the grill -mahi mahi was our favourite! - El patio Mexican ala carte, formal wear supper only. Men must wear shoes, pants & collared shirt. We did see a few people turned away. This honestly was my least favourite restaurant, maybe more authentic then we were used to. - Himitsu asian ala carte, casual wear, open air supper only. This was good, we are here a few times and tried something new each time. Was not disappointed. - Portofino itailian ala carte, formal wear supper only. Men must wear shoes, pants & collared shirt. No children. This was good, enjoyed the soup. Did not have all of the items listed on the menu. Get a Spanish coffee for dessert! Yum! - Oceana buffet for breakfast and lunch, seafood ala carte for supper, casual, open air. We really enjoyed supper here, outside in the evening a nice breeze cooled you off. - Seaside grill buffet for breakfast and lunch, casual, open to air attached to Oceana. (In my opinion oceana & seaside grill should be classified as one restaurant) Our last day there there was a small earthquake that woke us up. Apparently this area is known for that. Overall Dreams is A nice resort. Prior to booking any vacation I research and read many reviews, I found the rating on trip advisor prior to booking misleading. I would rate as a 3-3.5 star, and would say I was disappointed what we paid for the quality our holiday. I hope this review will help anyone considering this resort.

Another great time!

We went back to Dreams in Huatulco for the 4th year in a row! We love it there. This year we went for 2 weeks. This resort is very consistent in it's services and amenities. The concierge Fernando Segura is so very helpful for whatever you need. The resort and rooms are spotless. All the staff are so friendly. The food is good, and you can go to the al a carte restaurants as much as you want without signing up before hand. We will continue to go back there as much as we can!

This was our second visit to Dreams in Huatulco. We absolutely love the resort and the staff. We would like to thank our server Angel in the lobby bar, he was always there with a huge smile and fresh drinks knowing what we wanted before we ordered. We hope you will be there next time when we visit again. Was great to see Joel again, this time serving at the pool. All the staff are amazing and always accommodating. We can’t wait to come back. Thanks for everything!
