If this is the kind of resorts that Hilton runs then they are on the way down. Doors of hinges, areas of peeling paint. Service staff that 3 days did not restock the rooms. Coffee maker that would not work. Dirty elevator. Lousy food selections at the buffet. Last night the steak was sooooooooooooo very tough could not chew it. Made us wait 4 hours to get room.

Beautiful resort!

This is a very beautiful resort with really great pools, activities, and food! The rooms can use updating but they are very clean and the staff is wonderful and always ready to help! Bring a few swim suits because nothing ever dries in the rooms. We loved the comfortable beds and that they were made each day by the time we came back to our room. The food was very flavourful and delicous. Some things were repetitive but not a big deal! There is no Wifi in the rooms but it's available everywhere else on the resort so not an issue. Arenal tours is right at the hotel and we booked a wonderful excursion to a volcanoe with Santiago. This was a highlight of our vacation and Santiago gave us a great deal! We loved every moment of our stay at Doubletree!! We took nice walks along the ocean's not a beach we would swim in because there was a lot of debris there and the waves are strong. Also the sand is volcanic sand so it's not exactly soft. If you want a beach, you should go to Manuel Antonio beach which is a couple of hours away but worth visiting :-) . We also went ziplining at the Monteverde Cloud Forest with "The Original Canopy Tours". Best price and amazing experience. We did about 10 ziplines and the last two were at least 800 feet long. This place is about 2 hours away and is best to get a driver to take you as it's a bit of a rough drive up there. The roads are unpaved, narrow, and very windy. You should book either the 7:30am tour or the 10:30am tour. It got dark by about 6pm so it's good to do your excursions early in the day!! Overall, we loved our visit and highly recommend it to everybody!!

We had an excellent week at the Doubletree Pacific, largely due to the amazing service by all of the staff. The great service started before we even arrived as we received an email from Nathalia to check on any needs we may have during our stay. Nathalia was incredible throughout our stay, helping with anything we needed. We stayed in Building 3, which I would highly recommend, as the private pool and service (thanks, Karen!) was outstanding. The view from the rooms is incredible as well. The rooms themselves are okay -- very clean, which is most important, but not as updated or plush as many other Hilton properties I have stayed at. The food is very good for an all inclusive, with the main buffet changing "themes" each night. We also enjoyed the speciality restaurants, particularly the fish restaurant where the outdoor ambiance is fantastic. Overall, while the room quality isn't perfect, the overall service, beauty of the resort and value relative to cost makes this an excellent location for a relaxing time.

Worst breakfast buffet I have had in all my travels

Food is lacking. Not much choice cereal, egg station some fruit and only a couple alternatives. Dinner was better but not by much. I am disappointed as this is an all inclusive and we paid to eat, but find it difficult to find anything I like due to minimal offerings.

This hotel exceeded our expectations on so many levels. First, we were warmly greeted by Jessica who is an amazing Manager! She took the time to give us a tour of the facility so we knew where everything was. Second, the staff was amazing and made us feel like family. They greeted us by name every morning at breakfast (Rose Mary is such a sweetheart and we already miss her). At the pool we were always taken care of by a wonderful bar staff including Steven, Karen, Richard, Maykol and others! Their energy was infectious and they truly took care of all our needs. One experience you should consider is upgrading to the Premium area which includes a private pool area for guests that are willing to pay a little extra. I am a Diamond member and I think it was $10 per person extra per day. They serve fresh fruit poolside in the morning and amazing ceviche and snack bites in the afternoon. If you stay more that 3 days, you have the option to dine at 2 restaurants that are more formal and have wonderful service and different menu options than the buffet. They have a pretty amazing show at night in the outdoor auditorium and they try to do it both in Spanish and English. We have 2 daughters that are 10 and 12 and liked the smoothie bar as well as the kid center where they took 2 cooking classes. They could also go to the teen center as long as they were accompanied by an adult. They have ping pong, fuse ball, disco, air hockey and video games. They also have a tour planning center onsite. The tour company did a great job explaining our options and we took a tour to Tortuga Island that was $50 per person which included transportation, 45min boat ride to the island, snorkeling, hiking and a lunch that was very tasty (fresh Mahi Mahi). Our girls were able to hold a tiny octopus, hermit crabs and non poisonous sea urchins during the snorkeling portion...well worth the money! My wife and I tried every cocktail on the menu (24) and they are all delicious. I have seen a few complaints about the food in other reviews, but we thought is was good, just different (Carribean, French and the snack bar had pizza and quesadillas which were good for the kids). Just down the road from the hotel is a State Park and if you time it right (usually around 9:30) the monkeys come out of the forest and you can feed them which was very cool! If you are thinking of going to Costa Rica, this should be a resort that you should strongly consider!! The Costa Rica People are very warm and accommodating...just a wonderfully beautiful place!!!
