Apple was AMAZING
KARYN H.

Jennifer with Apple was amazing. She met us at our hotel and then later stayed in touch by phone. It was such a breezy, easy vacation. American Airlines was horrible but other than that - the hotel was on point, the transfer to the hotel was ready and waiting for us. The food, the drinks- all A++++

The hotel is great but the Dine Around programme is not what we hoped for

We are are a family if five staying at Crystal Cove All Inclusive resort. They make a point of their dine-around programme allowing you to have lunch or dinner at their other hotels. In reality, there are only three included (Crystal Cove, Turtle Beach and Waves) and it would be a 30-40 minute taxi ride to get from Crystal Cove to Turtle Beach. The other (Waves) is apparently small and limited to only six people from other hotels per sitting (and then only if they have space), so booking a table for a group of five is difficult and certainly not gauranteed. To eat at the other non-all-inclusive hotels, you apparently need to buy a voucher at a price almost as much as paying the full price in a restaurant. I understand why this is but I think Elegant Hotels should not promote this so much as a selling point given how restrictive it is. The food at Crystal Cove itself is OK but nothing to write home about, which is disappointing given the relatively high cost of the hotel. The hotel is in a quiet area of the west coast with very little in walking distance, so you are a captive audience when staying here unless you shell out for a taxi if you want to go anywhere else. Note that the Water Taxi only runs in the daytime (for good reason) and does not go as far as Turtle Beach. On the positive side, the staff are very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is relaxed. The resort is clean and well maintained. We had some problems with our hot water and air conditioning, which they attended to and fixed very quickly. There are pleanty of sun beds to go around. The pools are great. The beach has clean, white, soft sand. The watersports are well organised and easy to book. The evening entertainment (contemporary music generally) has been of very good quality. The bar is well stocked with many premium brands as well as local brands. Our Sea-View suites are very comfortable with fabulous outlooks.

A lovely relaxing place to stay with a superb beach

This was our second visit and we came back for a reason, to relax and chill out for a week. Crystal Cove does not disappoint. The beach is clean white sand and excellent comfortable sun beds each with their own adjustable shade. The WiFi reaches the beach so very easy to listen to music. Food is pretty good for a resort though a week is probably enough. We enjoyed dining at the sister Hotel Waves Asian restaurant but we were not the only guests to have a problem having booked for our anniversary and then made to feel like we were gate crashers. This is a pity as the food is good but service and welcome not as good as Crystal Cove. Room clean, bed comfortable, air conditioning works and not intrusive. The Cave Bar is good fun as is the new wine bar serving delicious after dinner espresso martinis. All in all a good holiday and no hesitation is recommending it for a relaxing break.

Great Place for Family Vacation

Two families have been traveling together over the.Christmas holidays for 31 years. We have people of all ages from 1 to almost 80. Although we have been to more deluxe accommodations, overall, our visit here rated at the top for many and near the top for others. Barbados is a most friendly place and all the people at the hotel, which is an alll exclusive, could not have been friendlier or tried harder to please.

Good in many ways but could do better!

I travelled here in December 2018 with my 7 and 4 year old with another family from the UK. The hotel is well positioned on the west coast of Barbados (Platinum Coast) and about 30 mins from the airport. Aside from the hotel there isn't much nearby as it's between Bridgetown and Holetown. We hired a car one day (through concierge) for about £100 which was fair enough and explored the island which I'm glad we did. One day on a catamaran also which was fun and we even swam with turtles which was incredible and I highly recommend. The hotel itself is fine, not big and actually very quiet for December I thought. There weren't many kids our age as it was mid Dec and I felt we were a nuisance to some families which always put me on edge slightly that our 4 year old would mis-behave! The kids club is fine, clean and cool but the activities are limited. TV was on a fair bit but that was fine with us really. The pools are tiny and not suitable for children under 4 as it's too deep. If your child is young or a bad swimmer you can't leave them alone... i.e there is no toddler pool so that was a shame. They are also v small.... The rooms are ok, cool and clean although the bathrooms are old (well ours was) but I do know some are being refurbished. Beds are huge and comfy as anything.... We felt safe and we met some nice other families. Beach is incredible and sea as you would imagine. The biggest downside was the staff... some really were rude verging on hostile.... it was bizarre as we expected lots of local charm but we simply didn't get it. Some genuinely made an effort but for the most part we were met with indifference and I felt we were inconveniencing them. Some were simply rude to be honest which was not expected. If I ordered a drink it was asking way toooo much and they almost sighed and trundled off....It just felt that the culture of the staff was not to welcome you... or look after you... it was us against them. They are perfectly friendly and chatty with each other so well able to do it just not with us. Other guests said the same. Would I go back? No. Would I recommend? Not really - no. I think there are better options for the amount of £££ you can pay. That said, it's perfectly fine small resort but could be better thats all. The holiday could have been great rather than just ok if the staff were more welcoming and charming. The service is also glacial - order a drink and you'll be waiting a few days... they just don't do things quickly at all! Not entirely sure the cocktails were of a high standard either but I'm no expert. The wine is poor however. The food is fine and Drifters restaurant was my favorite although watch the birds at lunchtime as they're aggresive and go for your food if you move away for more than a second. Dinner time they weern't a problem at all. Good hols.... just not great. Other, and I'm sure, better options especially if you have young kids.

Perfect Wedding holiday

My husband and I got married on the beach on the 5th December, we came as a large group of 27 and I have to say the holiday and wedding were exceptional. I have to give special thanks to Lisa our wedding coordinator who is an incredibly lovely person who ensured the whole holiday went smoothly and the wedding was the best day of our lives so far. Other worthy staff mentions include Brendan on the front desk (always made me laugh), Crystal (loves a hug), Rhea (very helpful front desk) and the guy who is normally behind the bar in the terrace I forget his name! This is my 8th time in Barbados and crystal cove is the only place I’ve visited twice. In my opinion this is the best all inclusive for families and the best balance between value and service. I also recommend mango bay but not for families. Pros: - the food is very good for an all inclusive, even for the fussiest of eaters - ample number of sun beds, never had to struggle. Very importantly the sun beds are also very comfortable with thick cushions. We really enjoyed the snacks that cake round daily - water sports was great, we really enjoyed the doughnuts. Snorkelling isn’t great in terms of variety of fish. - the terrace is a lovely area to sit and relax and watch the sunset with cocktails. - beach is a great size with perfect turquoise sea. I’d recommend sea shoes as the shallows are riddled with coral and it’s sharp. My brother also grazed himself on a sea urchin so be careful. We were lucky enough to see baby turtles hatch at night so we helped them get to sea because the crabs hunt them - rooms are comfortable and clean, the air con unit was quiet which was good. We had an ocean front room which was lovely to be able to hear the ocean. - entertainment is probably the best I have come across in my stays on the island I still rate my experience 5 stars but there are some things that can be improved to really bring it up a notch - service could be really slow at meal times - constantly asked for our room number at meal times but the staff never seemed to remember/ write it down anywhere so seemed pointless asking - the rooms can be quite small, for an ocean front compared with other hotels - I know they did some renovations on some rooms so I hope it continues because our bath/ shower was quite dated and was either really hot or really cold - some of the staff were quite miserable, especially in the cave bar and some of the restaurants. - smoking is allowed anywhere outdoors, including on the sun beds, which when they’re so close together by the pool is quite off putting so we had to move on a couple of occasions. I would not rule out coming again as crystal cove is a wonderful boutique hotel
