The King Kamehameha hotel was excellent in every way from check-in to check-out. The staff was always friendly and genuinely cared that we were taken care of. The hotel restaurant had a huge buffet breakfast every morning and Prime Rib/Seafood buffet on Friday and Saturday nights. The Lu'au on site was a lot of fun, very interactive, and well worth seeing. It is a great hotel for couples as well as families.

elevators in need of work

elevators in the west tower closed so quickly that we and many others were struck by closing doors. this was an ongoing problem. our room was lovely, but as a handicapped accessible room (which we did not need) was right at the elevator, where the constant chiming and the noise from those waiting was distracting. the view of the employee entrance from our balcony was not inspiring. we were told there was no parking charge at this hotel, but we were charged a daily parking rate.

Hotel Construction ISsue

It would have been a good idea to inform the hotel guests of the construction going on at the hotel. IT is suppose to be a relating vacatin and early morning construction can be annoying. I would have at least liked to know in advance if that situation exists. Overall the hotel was very nice and convienant location.

Central location, clean rooms, terrible parking

This hotel has its own small cul de sac beach. I️t is centrally locates to many shops and restaurants making I️t ideal to walk around. I️t takes about a mile to head up north or down south of the island which is nice. The rooms are a good size and clean. The only thing I would complain about is the bathroom grouts and assist handles could use some cleaning. The shower has a very nice blast of water, love I️t! Theres a few shops on the lobby floor and a nice history of King Kamehameha. The shaved ice store down there is amazingly addictive (coconut is a must try!). Staff is very friendly. Parking-where do I️ start?! considering I’m paying $17/day for this I expect better service. This alone I rate a 1. There’s plenty of spots; we never seem to have trouble finding a spot even coming back late at like 10pm. But I️t may depends on the time of the year. The issue I have is people’s key to get into and out of the lot don’t always work. It’s automated so no one mans the station. When you press the help button no one is there (at least not around the clock and one time we left at like 8am). And I️t was rather annoying experiencing this at least ONCE A DAY, esp when you are on the go. Imagine the back up too! Our keys worked but I think other people are accidentally demagnetizing their cards. I know I’m not the first that complains about this and I’m shocked they have yet to do something about this. For the cost of parking and the cost to stay in this hotel there should be better service out there. Or just get rid of the gates and give out parking tags for cars staying at the hotel. It’s not that hard!

This hotel was very pleasant, I enjoyed the beach being so close by and the pool / pool bar was very comfortable for lounging. Credit to the lovely staff who work at the bar and front desk - they were very willing to help and friendly. The lobby has lots of see - art and stores which were lovely to browse. The only drawback is the room itself, which is old and in need of TLC. I'm sure housekeeping do their best but there's really a need to replace carpet and furniture as the place felt a little musty. The hotel is in a wonderful location. I would stay again.

This is the 5th time that I have stayed at the courtyard Marriott King Kamehameha In Kona. As always I received the best service along with a good clean room. The valet parking was convenient and always had a smile on their face along with the aloha spirit when they parked and retrieved my car. One of the best features of this hotel is that it is centrally located in the heart of Kailua Kona and it is an easy walk to a lot of things to do while there. The concierge that books trips and activities is one of the best that I have come across in my travels. Always had good service and the trips that they suggest have never disappointed me yet. I highly recommend this place for many reasons

This hotel is on a huge piece of property, but very well located, as you can walk to the main tourist drag in a couple of minutes where you will find all the shops, bars and restaurants. Rooms are VERY large, clean and well equipped. Lots of space in the bathroom with a good selection of amenities. Good sized gym, easy access for running along the main road. Lots of bar and dining options on site or nearby. The Ironman swim starts right outside their doorstep, so I made ample use of this. Lots of fish in the ocean there as well! Would I stay again? Yes...but I might opt for another resort further north for more of a laid back stay....it is a good hotel though!

Great location!

My family and I stayed here for a week and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We paid a little extra and had an oceanfront room. The room is spacious with a large space between the beds, making it more comfortable for a family of four. My only complaint about the room was the bathroom door. It's not a traditional door with a lock, but rather a large sliding door that just slides over the doorway and offers very little privacy. Kind of awkward. Otherwise, the staff was always friendly and helpful. The pool was large and beautiful. There was live music each night in the poolside bar and restaurant which we could hear and enjoy from our balcony. We loved the beach access and were able to swim and snorkel right there. There are interesting paintings and artifacts all around the property and there are a lot of eating establishments and shopping easily within walking distance. The shave ice store in the hotel is one of the best places for shave ice that we've come across in Hawaii and of course, there is the convenient ABC store attached. We loved the location and the whole experience. Would highly recommend!
