The King Kamehameha hotel was excellent in every way from check-in to check-out. The staff was always friendly and genuinely cared that we were taken care of. The hotel restaurant had a huge buffet breakfast every morning and Prime Rib/Seafood buffet on Friday and Saturday nights. The Lu'au on site was a lot of fun, very interactive, and well worth seeing. It is a great hotel for couples as well as families.

elevators in need of work

elevators in the west tower closed so quickly that we and many others were struck by closing doors. this was an ongoing problem. our room was lovely, but as a handicapped accessible room (which we did not need) was right at the elevator, where the constant chiming and the noise from those waiting was distracting. the view of the employee entrance from our balcony was not inspiring. we were told there was no parking charge at this hotel, but we were charged a daily parking rate.

Hotel Construction ISsue

It would have been a good idea to inform the hotel guests of the construction going on at the hotel. IT is suppose to be a relating vacatin and early morning construction can be annoying. I would have at least liked to know in advance if that situation exists. Overall the hotel was very nice and convienant location.

Great amenities, good hotel

Stayed 2 rainy days and nights. Hotel is more like a standard Marriott than a resort, but nicely updated clean rooms. Every single one has a balcony with great view, either of the mountain or the ocean. Private beach is excellent (sheltered from waves, good for little ones), pool was updated and modern with attached bar/restaurant. Hotel restaurant food and drinks were great. ABC store attached to hotel was great for gifts to bring home, and many activities to sign up for in the hotel - tours, luau, paragliding, submarine tour, spa. Other shopping, gallery and coffee shop too. Live music at the pool bar some nights. No free breakfast buffet, but we were given vouchers for one free hotel breakfast which was excellent. Tiny hot tub - probably not an issue typically, but it was 'cold' when we visited.

this hotel is in an outstanding location on the waterfront and short walking distance to many stores and restaurants. there is a spa within the hotel. it has a parking lot adjacent to it that makes having your own car easy to deal with in such an otherwise impossible area to find a parking space.

From the front desk to the cleaning staff, we were greeted with big island aloha hospitality at ever turn. Convenience was also a forte of the Marriott King Kamehameha. It is within walking distance to many of Kona's best eateries, lots of tourist shopping and a small, protected sand beach for when you tire of lounging at the pool. Lots of onsite parking so you are not a train ride away from your room with luggage. The room was comfortable for two people although a bit worn.

Stayed here before moving to the north end for a few days. Can’t say enough about the staff. The went above and beyond for us with a lost luggage issue. Great pool and jacuzzi and great snorkeling as well. I like that there was a great coffee shop and an ABC right there on property too. The room was clean and fine with a balcony. A bit small but we were not there a bunch. A super location, maybe the best there by the pier. A good bang for your buck!

Great hotel, even better Staff!

We stayed here a total of 10 nights in January and had an absolutely fabulous time. Location was amazing, room was fantastic and clean, hotel restaurants were so good! The best thing of all was the staff. Tiffany checked us in and from that time on, seemed to always be at the front desk when we needed something and could not have been more helpful. The housekeeping staff daily had our room serviced very quickly which was so nice. It was so nice to call this hotel home for our stay and hope to come back soon! Sarah & Harry
