The hotel is in a great location, the pool area was small but the beach directly in front of the hotel offered another option. The rooms felt small for two people but were fine. Staff were always pleasant and helpful when ask, the house cleaning team very friendly.

The King Kamehameha hotel was excellent in every way from check-in to check-out. The staff was always friendly and genuinely cared that we were taken care of. The hotel restaurant had a huge buffet breakfast every morning and Prime Rib/Seafood buffet on Friday and Saturday nights. The Lu'au on site was a lot of fun, very interactive, and well worth seeing. It is a great hotel for couples as well as families.

elevators in need of work

elevators in the west tower closed so quickly that we and many others were struck by closing doors. this was an ongoing problem. our room was lovely, but as a handicapped accessible room (which we did not need) was right at the elevator, where the constant chiming and the noise from those waiting was distracting. the view of the employee entrance from our balcony was not inspiring. we were told there was no parking charge at this hotel, but we were charged a daily parking rate.

Hotel Construction ISsue
ROCHELLE W.

It would have been a good idea to inform the hotel guests of the construction going on at the hotel. IT is suppose to be a relating vacatin and early morning construction can be annoying. I would have at least liked to know in advance if that situation exists. Overall the hotel was very nice and convienant location.

Perfect location in Kona. Within walking distance to dining and shopping. Easy to get to the pool and beach. Beach small but very swimmable. Pool also on the small side but adequate. Rooms clean, staff very friendly. Self parking close to building. The only thing I would suggest is get rid of the carpet. It is impossible to keep carpet clean and dry with guests constantly tracking in water and sand. Otherwise would recommend and will be repeat booker.

Nice location. clean rooms. Very friendly staff. Lots of great restaurants all around. Right on street walk way along beach in downtown. Beach is very small but private. Downfall: not nearly enough beach/pool chairs

Great location and helpful staff

We stayed one night in the hotel as we were embarking on a cruise (with uncruise) and they were picking us up from this hotel. It was a good choice. The beds were comfortable and rooms were clean. There is an historical display in the lobby and while we were staying there was lots of paintings depicting Hawaiian history. We got seniors rate and had an offer of a room with breakfast for $1 more than the room so went with that. The restaurant was Ok with a good choice and the omelette (made freshly) was delicious. very convenient for the town.

Great location, great pool, dated rooms

The hotel is in a great downtown location in Kailua Kona. You can walk to many shops and restaurants. It has a very tiny "beach" area however we chose to spend more time at the pool. The pool area is beautiful and has a bar and restaurant attached to it. There is an ABC store in the lobby to meet any need you may have in Hawaii. The only downside is that the rooms and hallways are a bit dated and the drive to the "beautiful" beaches is about 25 minutes. But really, who wants to spend time inside when in Hawaii anyway??

Convenient Location

Convenient location - right at the end of Al’i drive. Clean rooms and lobby, fun historical displays. A bit dated style, but not ugly. Most of the island’s hotels are older. Friendly staff, super helpful. Have to pay $18/day for parking * only real bummer.
