our stay at the Marriott.

This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel. We love the location and the grounds are beautiful. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Our only complaint would be that the bathrooms could use some updating and could not believe we were taxed on the parking fees they seem very high. Overall we had a wonderful stay at the hotel.

Service was great!! Although there were some staff there that gave off the feeling that they really didnt want to be there, but I didnt let that bring a downer to our vacation. The hotel was beautiful and I would love to stay there again if possible.

even though the hotel was under remodeling and we were not told things went pretty smoothly.we did get woke up alot from construction noise and there were parts of the pool that were restricted at times but since it was our honeymoon we ignored those distractions.in the future i would let people know in advance there is construction and let them not be surprised.

Two night stay using points. Nice staff, nice grounds. SMALLEST bathroom. By myself, I can survive. However, the AC went out of commission and engineer came up to check it out. Removed cover and I have never seen such filth. MOD, Doug entered and apologized for having to witness what was seen. With that, the cover goes back on and the accumulated filth stays where it was. Doug offered 10,000 points for the inconvenience. Of course, two weeks later and I'm still looking for the points. Driving by hotels in this area many times, I wasn't expecting anything great. Just something close to airport and grocery stores. Once was enough....will not do it again. Positive.....Marriott program benefits for platinum are generous.

A++ Loved this place. Beautiful grounds, great location, nice rooms.

Just returned from a week long stay here and I LOVED IT! Beautiful grounds, great location (near airport for helicopter rides and midway between both North Shore and Poipu), friendly staff, great amenities, etc. I can't say enough good things about the Courtyard Kauai. Got in late and was greeted by Andrew at check-in who was friendly and welcoming. We loved our room on the 4th floor. I thought being above the pool might be a problem noise-wise but they must have great soundproofing because we never heard a thing. The room was large and comfortable and I loved the decor. The only teeny tiny minor negative I have is that housekeeping was sometimes rather late (like after 3 pm) in making up the room. But they did a terrific job so all was fine. We ate in the lounge almost every day because the menu was varied, prices were good and the staff was great. Oh and the food was good too! And we definitely appreciated the free coffee in the lobby in the mornings (tip for mgmt: you need more as it was sometimes gone as early at 8 am). Other reviews about the beach here not being so great are true but because we're not beach people, we didn't care. We were out sightseeing and hiking every day! And Carrie the Concierge helped get us set up with our activities and answered any questions we had. She was very knowledgeable and helpful. I really hope they get the nearby Coconut Marketplace fully leased as more shops on the same side of the highway would really be great. Overall, I loved it here and already know I will be staying here when I come back to Kauai. It was perfect.

Good location in Kapaa, needs updating and better service

This hotel had a good location in Kapaa. However, we had several issues (staying in different rooms and checking in at different times). Starting with the good. If you were at a high level, you didn't have to listen to roosters in the morning. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The room staff were very nice and accommodating. Problems. Even after checking in, I had problems with my room (not being what I asked for-two doubles). Then I had to wait for new room-not an issue since I tried to check in early. But we all had several issues with our rooms/rooms keys, upon which a certain staff member blamed us for the issue. We walked directly from lobby to room and one key wouldn't work (same happened with friends). We decided to stay for another night and the same thing happened. Not a big deal but the front desk belittled us like we did something wrong. This was not my first time staying at a hotel where you have to be aware of your phone touching a key. The location was nice but for a Courtyard Marriott it was dated and dirty in the lobby. I didn't check out the Luau but it was supposed to be one of the best on the island, so perhaps it made up for it. On subsequent days I had staff that were phenomenal, but on the first two, they would not even acknowledge me and were condescending. My advice to management would be to offer a training program where people were consistent. But if you're looking for a place to stay with a mediocre bar/restaurant on the ocean, by all means, give it a whirl. I'm never harsh on hotels but this one rubbed me the wrong way.

Damp rooms, NO AIR CONDITIONING- only units fan runs

If you are planning Kauai, Hawaii vacation DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL as 1) rooms air conditioning does NOT Work and only fan runs. Rooms are humid, damp & moulds. This seems very old property. ( even car AC works better than that ) AIr conditioning is must in Hawaii, Well If you did some research- weather in Kauai is tropical & humid. Thus - You definitely need good air conditioning. If you call reception attendents - they just say, we know its not working and we will send someone to look, but really no one comes as they know the central air conditioning is not working!! Though I would not blame them, its managements fault. Rooms are damp, dungy, wet and smell bad. 2) Rooms are dated - specially bathrooms are so small & cramped. *Only good thing about this resort is the beach view outside ( which they don't own. Hawaii Travel Tip : in Hawaii all beaches all public beaches , irrespective of infront of resort or not ) Also restaurant staff was helpful and breakfast was good. But room spoils everything, which is not expected if Marriott property. Hopefully management does something about this basic necessity ( air conditioning) in tropical climate !!

Clean, quiet and great location

We were able to have a room exactly as we wanted, king bed but facing away from the pool and any type of festivities or events that take place at the hotel. The only noise we had to deal with were the roosters which are just the locals there on this island :) Would gladly stay here again if we re-visit this island and thanks for making it a great experience. The daily resort fee of $20 for parking + beach equipment and more was just fine as we checked out the beach umbrellas, chairs and coolers every day that we were out exploring the island! Thanks!
