Hotel staff are very friendly. The views are awesome and the rooms are clean and are ok. The whole resort is need of remodeling big time. The WiFi throughout the resort is poor and sparodic. There are simply not enough amenities for patrons. The only shop closes every day at 1.30pm. There was a constant lack of available towels for use at the pool. There is no gym or spa on site and the beach has been washed away so other than hanging out by the rather small pool, there is literally nothing to do. There is no coffee available in the rooms and the restaurant is only open for breakfast, lunch and dinner at specific times. After 9.30 at night if you want any snack, coffee or food you have to go off site. Over all a pleasant resort, but because of the lack of modern conveniences, I wouldn’t recommend it.

Day pass review

We booked day passes on line, which was easy and informative. We have done many day passed in different islands so we knew what to expect. This one was more pricey than most but it is Bermuda, nothing is cheap there. We took a cab to and from, party of 4. Going the driver kept making stops despite us telling him we weren't interested in a tour. He told us it would be 34-40, the meter came out to 50! We were not happy. We checked in at the front desk, they provided us no information other than how to get outside. We asked about the lunch we had included with the pass and he just said the waiter by the pool and beach would help. The resort is old and outdated. The pool area is small but clean, water was freezing. There were plenty of chairs. The restroom was clean. Beach area was very pretty but a hike. If you have trouble walking or with stairs forget it. We sat outside for a few hours and decided it was time for lunch. We could not locate a server, no one ever came to us. We walked up the the restaurant and were seated quickly. You got to pick an app, main and dessert. The options were pretty limited. We ordered a fish sandwich, it was over cooked and dry. We went back to the pool for the remainder of the day. We never saw a server the entire time. We wanted to order drinks but could find no one at the bar. After trying to find someone for 30 minutes we went to the desk who said they would find the server. We waited 45 minuted before heading back to the desk. They said that was not the service they expected us to have and understood why we were not happy. She said a manager would be reaching out to us, no one ever did. They did not find us anyone to get drinks. I finally found someone at the restaurant who took the order. About 20 minutes later our sodas and waters arrived. The soda had a strange after taste, the waiter said there was something wrong with the pumps. We asked for cans with ice, he brought that down about 15 minutes later. As we were packing up to leave we saw the server for the 1st time of the day. He came over and closed our umbrella while we were sitting under it. I guess he was ready to go home! The front desk called a cab when we left, this one was $35 with no stops. All in all I do not recommend this day pass. I know options are limited in Bermuda but it was not worth the $104 per person (4 in our group). The food was average at best and the service was non existent. Save the money and go to the beach.

*Grief...this has more to do with nature than the resort. This was a last minute decision to visit Bermuda Columbus Day weekend. Two days of sunshine and beach !! Coco Reef had a room ...so we went!! Unfortunately there was no sand on their small private beach. It apparently washed away and Mother Nature hadn’t put it back. Luckily beautiful Horseshoe Bay was a $20 taxi ride away and saved the weekend!! As for the resort...more like a quiet B and B Staff...10 Property...7 Cleanliness...9 Room...8 View...10 Food...7 Pool...7

Wonderful Vacation

We just returned from a wonderful week at Coco Reef. The positives were outstanding and far overshadowed the few items that could be improved. First, a number of previous reviews called out the front desk as needing attention. In our entire week, from check-in to check-out, the staff at the front desk were very pleasant, very good and highly accommodating. No issues at all. In fact were very responsive to everything - from recommendations and dinner reservations at other restaurants, to calling taxis, how to use the bus system and tokens, to general advice on how and where to go, since this was our first visit to the island. We chose an Ocean View as opposed to a Ocean Front on purpose. Most hotels on the water are on steep hillsides and Coco Reef is no exception. Just check out the pictures. As a couple in our 60's, treks up and down multiple times to lobby and restaurant just aren't fun. The Ocean View rooms are almost on same level as main building and all the Ocean Front rooms are further down the hill. The room itself is dated, but always clean and very comfortable. Every room also has a small covered lanai which was great at night sitting out in pleasant breeze. For those wanting great weather, we also got it on our trip. Every day was ~83 and dropped only to ~76 at night. Very, very pleasant. It rained a total of 15 minutes on day of arrival and 15 minutes the day we left. The beach is fantastic and pool was small but nice. Water temp of ocean was 83 - and the pool near 80. The beach at Coco Reef itself is very small. But the beach a few steps away just next to property - Elbow Beach - was great. Pink sand and crystal clear water. Only a couple beach chairs and umbrellas at bottom of steps, but the hotel is small, boutique-like and so chair availability was not a big issue. Living 5 blocks from great beach in FL and having visited most of the Caribbean, this beach ranks right up there with the best. We also chose the full breakfast plan, which I highly recommend - if you like a big hot breakfast every day. Omelets were especially good. Plus you get all continental offerings as well. As if on a cruise. Food is very expensive in Bermuda and this was a great deal overall. We also ate dinner in the hotel's restaurant 3 nights. The food for both breakfast and dinner was uniformly very good. As good as any of the outside restaurants where we also ate. Kudos to the chef... My wife said the dining room looked like you stepped into an Agatha Christie novel. Back in time. Maybe a little overdone. Yet, glass windows all around and beautiful views. We sat outside on covered adjoining dining patio for half of our meals - both breakfast and dinner, which was as pleasant as you could get. Same views and fresh air. Service - from dining, to housekeeping to front desk was uniformly very good to excellent for entire stay. The only suggested areas of improvement are to replace and upgrade quality of all the beach towels, expand the dinner menu offerings (ones they have are all great), increase visibility of bar service at both pool and beach, and to keep small gift shop open longer. Otherwise, Coco Reef is great place if you like a casual, rather quiet and relaxing place with access to a great beach. It's also priced right versus other resorts on the beach. When we go back to Bermuda, would definitely stay here again. It was a wonderful time overall.

Excellent customer service!!!

My brother and his wife were celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary. The rest of the family wanted to do something nice for them on their trip. I contact Nicole at the resort and she replied within 30 minutes with a bunch of ideas. It didn't stop there, she hooked me up with other contacts around the island and was always on top of things. I had to reach my brother to make a final decision, and he wouldn't answer his texts... sent Nicole a message and within an hour, my brother contacted me!!! Talk about service! Needless to say, their trip was perfect! Our family arranged a tour through Nicole and it was top notch! We were all able to keep it a secret from my brother and his wife. They just knew they had to be in the lobby for pick up.at 10am. The driver, Big Al - kept the secret as well! They had a splendid time with every stop a surprise. Would do this again and again for sure!!! Once they returned from their trip - it was stories after stories being told. Thank you Nicole and the rest of the staff at Coco Reef, you really know how to make it a "personal experience". Highly recommend.
