CoCo Beach Bermuda

Hotel is right on the beach in a series of separate buildings each with 10-12 rooms. The view of the ocean is fantastic. The Hotel is clean and the staff pleasant. Not much in the way of amenities and though the pool is quite nice, there is no spa. The stay was pleasant and met our expectations for the price, which was reasonable in an otherwise expensive vacation locale. We spent an entire week with the idea of getting there fast so that we could take it slow, just the Beach Boys song..

What you experience at this hotel will depend on your preferences and expectations. I loved it! Yes, it is dated and frankly tacky at times (so much gold spray paint!), but it is also calm and clean and the staff were kind and helpful. I have also stayed at the Hamilton Princess, and frankly I preferred the Coco Reef. The design of the rooms is clever, with all rooms having a beach or ocean view. I could sit on my little patio in my lounger and look through the palm trees to the beautiful ocean. Pros: the beach here is amazing! I walked down to the famed Horseshoe Bay beach, but I preferred Elbow Beach. The quaint little private end at the hotel is delightful. The floors are tile and very clean. The wicker furniture is retro... The price point was much better than the Hamilton Princess, about half once you factor in the breakfast. Cons: the soundproofing between rooms is poor, so I heard the alarm clock for the person next door every morning, every 15 minutes for an hour... also the WiFi is frankly disastrous, so not good if internet connectivity is needed. Overall, Coco Reef was a great place to unwind and relax for a few days. Stunning views, gorgeous aquamarine crystal clear water. Grounds are lovely.

Beauty location, decent rooms

The location is spectacular, the grounds beautiful, and the views breathtaking. The location is central to most areas of the island. The rooms are decent, but the rooms and bathrooms are in need of updating. The beds are comfortable, the floors nice tile, and the wicker furniture comfortable. The curtains are need of replacing as well as the rooms could use a paint freshening up. Having coffee on the deck overlooking the ocean is one of the most beautiful and calming experiences, and the pool area is beautiful and a nice place to relax and read. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, willing to go the extra mile. Steve, or Sir Mayor Steve is the go to person for anything on the resort or for info on the island. He is a true ambassador for the Coco Reef and Bermuda. We would definitely stay here again as the prices are reasonable for Bermuda. The cons: no coffee maker in the room, and we found out you could get one, but had to request it from the front desk; there is a safe in the room, but ours had to be repaired and you have to request the safe key from the desk. The water pressure in the shower was relatively weak. There is a restaurant on premise that we ate breakfast at, and several restaurants within a short walk on the beach. Bermuda is an extremely safe island, but you can’t rent a car, only scooters, which we did not try due to driving on the opposite side of the road as we do in the US. We took cabs most places, but plan to spend a decent amount to get to and from where you want to go. They have a great public transport system with buses, which we took a few times, which is very cheap and you get to mingle with the locals. There is a stop right at the entrance to the resort, which Steve will give you a ride in a golf cart to catch the bus, and you can call him when you return and he will pick you up, as the resort is behind the University and a short walk from the main road. A point is that many businesses are closed on Sundays and there is a surcharge for taxis, etc that work on Sundays. The island is beautiful, the people friendly, the food delicious, and we absolutely loved our vacation here. We definitely will be back.

A must to visit the LaVista Bar (Keasha). Excellent customer service, makes recommendations with the menu options. Keasha, has such great ideas with all customer clientele in mind. She truly, keeps the regular locals abreast of the coming specials in token of their loyalty. I do hope the owner and the management staff recognize the GEM in Keasha and her ability of customer retention which makes her a success!

Location was great and rooms were clean. The staff were generally nice and helpful. However, I had a series of events that soured my overall experience. We spent a couple night next to extremely noisy neighbors. After four complaints at all hours of the night, asking twice to switch rooms (place was empty), and having the front desk tell our neighbors that we were the ones complaining, I felt like it was handled very poorly. We had to ask for a coffee maker in the room three times. And the pool was closed during our whole stay. After my stay, I asked for a partial refund for those first two, lousy nights and never got a response. I had fun in Bermuda but wouldn't stay here again.

If you want OK. (Warning on fees)

Room was clean but dated Walking around the grounds was fine for us, but would be a challenge for anyone with physical limitations Also know that there are mandatory unpublished fees for room and facilities per person When price shopping you can add 60% on top of your room rate to cover taxes and these hotel levied fees. I think they do it to be persevere as cheaper. Had we known upfront we would have stayed at a nicer spot at same cost... Pool was closed for maintenance but no work was done during our time there. So don’t plan on it working any time soon Views were great but it did not seem cleaning patio doors was part of their process or included in your room fees or room rate for that manner No trash cans are in common area. The walk to the road is 10 min as you pass the university. There are two roads. I would recommend using university road if walking Our door stuck and oddly opened out
