Pretty Good. Possibly perfect if it fits your niche

My wife and I just got back yesterday from our week at CRT, 9/16/2018 - 9/23/2018. Overall we both really liked the resort, I will just list the positives, neutrals, and negatives: Positives - The food overall was good, but nothing was spectacular. Every meal was at least equal to a typical meal at a chain restaurant in the States. The beach was the nicest of the 3 resorts I've been to. Very small resort - probably less than a 2 minute walk in width and probably 8 minutes or less from the beach all the way to the lobby. Tons of seating - people play the "towel game" but we found loungers under an umbrella no matter when we got to the pool. Seating appeared a little harder to find on the beach, but nothing like other resorts. RAUXA - the paid show was very well done. Definitely would have been worth it had it not been surrounded by free food and booze, probably was still worth it in that context. (don't go if you're homophobic) Neutrals: The room was nice - never seen a bad room at a resort though. Privileged package necessary to have access to B'Loved, which is easily the best restaurant on the premises, and it's not even close. If anyone says otherwise they're wrong. Privileged package also necessary to grab one of the 4 or 5 beds on the beach. Sargassum (seaweed) was really bad 2 days of our 7. One day it was nearly knee high. Negatives: The entertainment staff. Very few activities during the day, those that did occur were limited to "entertainment" like them making guacamole or burgers. There was maybe one activity in the pool per day although at least one day I didn't see any. ****The night time entertainment. EMBARRASSINGLY bad. Literally laugh at the show bad. We went 3 nights. First was synchronized swimming that was bad compared to other resorts or cruise entertainment, but pretty decent. Second was a "rock show" that sounded like bad karaoke we left after a comically bad attempt at Adele. Last was the "Grammy's show" which was literally lip syncing to live Grammy's performances, complete with dancing that wouldn't have been out of place at a middle school talent show. Words cannot fully describe how bad it was.**** Approximately half of the guests did not speak English. Lack of music near the pool - Over half the day there is no music at all on in the pool. No swim up bar. Cheap liquors like Captain Morgan and Jack Daniel's as well as any good Tequila is only available if you buy into their timeshare program. Overall, if you're looking for a nice resort with good food that is QUIET this is the resort for you. If you want to sit on a beautiful beach in complete silence and read then this is your perfect resort. If you want anything at all resembling a party - or even background music - this isn't your place. **It's seriously DEAD QUIET for more than half the day** I am not exaggerating.

Amazing place to get away from the concrete jungle

This is my second time visiting Mexico and first time staying at the Catalonia Royal Tulum. If you’re looking for a place to unwind this is the place for you. Overall the staff has been wonderful. There are some employees who will go above and beyond to make sure that your time at the resort is an enjoyable one. My partner and I opted in for the privileged package and it’s was definitely worth it. Ratings for anyone having second thoughts about staying here: Food- 5/5 As a vegan when traveling my partner and I are not presented with many options. In every single restaurant we visited within the resort we were asked if we had any food allergies or preferences etc. The server always checked in with the chef to make sure that alternatives & adjustments could be made. Overall great experience. As a vegan I was able to eat in every single restaurant. Customer Service- 5/5 Friendly staff. Everyone tries to get to know you a little better and make suggestions according to the type of night or day you’re planning to have. Scenery- 5/5 Love love love the scenery. This is a great place for couples to take pre-wedding photos. Overall very romantic. There is a route that begins from the lobby to the pool composed of bridges that light up at night. Privileged package- 5/5 Room space and location was great. The mattress was sooooooo comfortable it was hard to get up from bed some mornings. With the privileged package you get 10% off excursions, access to a private space on the beach and access to the restaurant on the beach called B Loved. Definitely worth it. Rauxa Show- N/A Didn’t attend the show offered at the resort. Went to coco bongo in Playa Del Carmen instead. At first my partner and I were very annoyed with the long line and crowd but it was worth it. Will definitely stay here again.

Having arrived here one week ago we were informed that we could not have rooms in the same block as our friends unless we upgraded! Obviously we declined but once in our rooms we found our phone didn’t work so it made it hard to communicate with our friends. Not only that we couldn’t order room service. I have reported it 4 times. Today I have gone to report it again to be informed that if we want a working phone we will have to move rooms. There are also facilities within the rooms to make your own coffee but this has never been replenished and needs to be ordered through room service and there lies the problem - no phone. Apart from that the resort is good.

Wonderful time at a beautiful resort

Our vacation at the Catalonia Royal Tulum resort was great. The staff take such care of all the details and made our stay so wonderful. A big shout out to Miriam and Lenis, our concierge and butler. They went above and beyond in treating us as if we were the most special guests there. Talk about exceeding expectations!! We were fortunate to be guests of our son and daughter in law as Exclusive Travel Club members. That perk was amazing! Wonderful access to all the restaurants, top shelf liquors, and having a section of beach just for us. The pool was huge, comfortable and had activities such as water polo and volleyball that we enjoyed. We also had fun swimming in the ocean, although there was a lot of seaweed, which was unusual according to staff. We would definitely return!

Fantastic experience at CRT

We actually visited in September 2017, the review site did not give the option to review those dates. Our experience was fantastic! My husband and I (both in our early 30’s) loved the resort. We felt entirely welcome. A handful of the resort staff was obviously gay as well, making the experience more fun and enjoyable ( we did not engage the staff very much, but enjoyed watching their day to day antics). Tomorrow we embark on our second trip to CRT, this time staying longer. We live this place and have made it an annual vacation spot.
