This was my first all inclusive and I was pleasantly surprised . Being a foodie I thought I would be disappointed but instead found the food quality was good . They had premiere liquors for any type of drink and the drinks were made well. Plan to go back.

Worst hotel I have ever stayed at.

To start this was a bachelorette party trip with 12 girls total. Everything was gorgeous and very clean but the service and food were probably the worst I have ever experienced. This was my 4th trip to DR and I have never experienced service like this. We were insulted by the staff on a daily basis. We had a few girls with us that were fluent in Spanish and they understood the waiters and waitresses who were consistently insulting us, making fun of us, etc. During dinner one night our waiter kept making jokes then asked each of us a question in Spanish to see how fluent we were. Later as he was serving he responded to one of the girls saying "don't eat too much so you don't get fatter." She understood him, called him out, and he laughed at her and thought it was funny. The girl that was insulted spent the night crying and feeling completely uncomfortable staying at this resort- not something you'd expect on vacation or anywhere. Multiple times we would ask someone a question and we would get a blank stare and have them walk away. I understand that not everyone was a fluent English speaker in the hotel but we got 0 effort from them in trying to understand us or help us. There were of course a few people that were extremely helpful and kind but that was rare. We were told multiple times that weren't able to make reservations to restaurants so we would go to a restaurant for dinner and get turned back because "our group was too big" or they were already booked for the night - yet they don't take reservations. Overall, the food was unappetizing and very unsatisfying. The buffets were very picked through, birds were all over the food, and the staff was unhelpful as usual. The steakhouse tasted good but 5 of the girls were sick the next morning from it. As someone who regularly travels to DR, Mexico, etc. and has stayed at multiple all inclusive resorts this is by far the worst experience I have ever had. I would definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone.

I have stayed at several different hotels in Punta Cana, this was Adult only which was a nice option, but as far as the hotel itself it was just average. We did not use the beach at all this time, too much seaweed - and no waves like the ocean normally has. Very disappointed.

This resort still has many fine qualities, but we could tell that some quality has slipped. Our room, the food, the drinks, the bartenders, and the dinner service were all excellent. Some things we didn't like were that 3 out of our 5 lunches we had very poor service at lunch with extreme waits or no service at all until we complained. Also, we stay up late and sleep late. We could not get a clean beach towel around noon or later. They need to buy more towels if they can only provide them in the morning. It is still a good resort, but it does not have the service in all areas that it used to have. This was our fourth trip to this resort.

My wife and I stayed at the Catalonia Bavaro Royal and we happy with the many changes made since we were last there 10 years ago. The additional restaurants offered more choices and quality food. The infinity pool was great! In the bars for the Royal section, you had to ask for the upscale liquor or you were served the poor quality stuff. We incurred a lot of extra charges from Frontier Airlines on the flight to and from because of their policies about luggage and carry on bags. They did not even offer a cup of water to us on the flight home.

As soon as you check in another company matter of fact informs you there is a breakfast for Priority members being held the next day at The Pearls Club. You are also told it here is a total of one hour presentation including g a tourof the place. NOT TRUE !! We were there over 3 hours until I walked out. We wasted almost a half day on this trash. We were lead to believe this welcome breakfast was part of our package. Anyone who goes to this resort should be aware of what this welcome breakfast is and just say NO.

This is our third trip to Punta Cana and this resort is amazing. The 18+ resort is perfect size, as you are close to beach, pools and lobby. Even the family resort next door is close, as there are many restaurants, shopping and entertainment that you can use. Only downfall is the timeshare guys in the lobby as there are lots and kinda pushy. Only want to talk for half hour...just tell them you’ll do it on a rainy day. Lol... The rooms are large and very comfortable and clean. The food at all the restaurants is very good. All staff, from restaurants to bars to cleaning staff are friendly, helpful and fun. It is kept vey clean. They are always around cleaning everywhere, from rooms, pools, beach, lobby, even the gardens and walkways! There were always chairs or beds available at both pools and beach any time of the day. Golf was great and a beautiful course. Lots of water sports!! We will definitely return to Catalonia Royal!!!

We stayed at the Catalonia Royal Bavaro in early April 2019. My wife and I typically take 1 or 2 trips south every year, and this was our first trip to the D.R. in 8+ Years. We will not wait that long to come back and are looking forward to returning to the Catalonia Royal Bavaro . When we arrived at the resort at 5pm after a long day we found out they did not have a room in the category we booked. This issue was dealt with promptly by the front deak team. This was the only issue we had during our trip and it was very minor. The resort is beutiful, the grounds and facilities are all very well maintained. Restaurants were very good and we could always find something tasty to eat. The room service we ordered was fast and arrived hot and fresh. The staff are incredible, always very pleasentant and happy. The majority of them seem to really enjoy what they do and where they do it.  This only made our stay even more enjoyable. Edward in the piano bar was exceptional and always pleasent to chat with and quick to make your favorite beverage or pour a cold beer. Miladis was always smiling and lighting up the room with her cheer. Alexander one of the managers on the Royal side was always available to help guests and make sure they were having a good time. All and all we had an amazing trip, and can't wait to return.

I want to thank two special people: MRS Yinna and MR Moni from Catalonia Royal Bavaro hotel for their professionalism and their great management! The rooms are excellent, the beds comfortable and clean, the bar was always full, the room service was also excellent, the resort was clean and the staff very friendly. The beach area was nice and clean, but seagrass continually was washing up on shore.

Our new favorite resort in Punta Cana

This was our 4th trip to Punta Cana - we've previously stayed at Secrets, TRS Turquesa and Be Live resorts but this trip was our favorite so far. We've also stayed at Sandals in St. Lucia and Bahamas, Secrets and Couples in Jamaica and Catalonia in Mexico - this resort holds up in comparison to any of them, especially for the money. Catalonia Royal Bavaro is beautiful, the rooms comfortable, the service excellent and the food delicious. The resort is the first stop from the airport and we arrived early so went for lunch at Thalassa just off the lobby until our room was ready, which it was as soon as we were finished. We had a swim up room (4010) at the back of building 40 which was beautiful. The room was upgraded and lovely with all amenities and while there was no sun first thing in the morning, there was sun from 11am through to late afternoon. We spent a couple of days at our private pool, a few at the infinity pool and one day at the beach. All were amazing. The "drinky drinky girl" at the infinity pool was always lots of fun providing drinks all day. My husband and a couple new friends "invented" a cocktail and the free pours made for a few headaches the next day - definitely no watered down drinks! Beds were never hard to find at either the pool or the beach....there was a fair bit of seaweed on the beach but they were out there 2-3 times per day cleaning it up. The water was clear and beautiful but I got creeped out by a school of little fish swimming around me so headed back to dry land! The Royal side is very quiet, both during the day and the evenings. If you are looking to party, you can go to the family resort next door. We walked over a few times as all of the shops and many of the restaurants are on that side. We had dinner twice at the Steakhouse which we enjoyed, once at the big buffet (which was huge, crowded and very noisy - but the food was fine) and once at the preferred only buffet on the beach for lunch, which was also nice. For most meals we stayed on the Royal side. We ate twice at the Thai restaurant which was delicious and Thalassa was also excellent. For al a carte breakfast and lunch we loved the pool side restaurant - make sure to try the Mango foam dessert, it was amazing! The buffet breakfast at Thalassa was also very good and had a lot of variety and delicious options. The service was great, our room was cleaned every morning by the time we got back from breakfast and the ladies checked in at least once again each day to see if we need any extra towels or amenities. We have no idea how they knew it was my husbands birthday but we arrived back from the beach that day to a door banner, balloons and a delicious birthday cake in the room! We went solely to relax so did not partake in any water sports or excursions so can't comment on those, we did go to the spa for a couples massage which was wonderful. The only annoyance in our week was the constant presence of the time share guys when you entered the lobbies or restaurants, they are relentless even when you let them know you are not interested. We would highly recommend this resort if you are looking for a very quiet, relaxing vacation with beautiful surroundings and good food. We feel it ranks with the higher priced options out there and would definitely go back.
