Hi all, I thought I would post this very early review while I am at the hotel to be able to answer any questions anyone has. Been here for two days now and experience so far has been fantastic, every member of staff seems to have a genuine desire to provide good customer service. We are in a standard room with garden view, the rooms are clean, spacious, comfortable large beds and air conditioning. We have had no issues with a sun lounger the first day, drinks are plentiful and top brands. Breakfasts have a plethora of choice to accommodate any palette. We have been to 2 restaurants and the food has been flavoursome in both. Any questions please feel to ask and I will respond as long as I am not on the beach drinking cocktails :)

Had a great time!

We travelled as "non-privileged" and were quite please with all of the options available to us. The location and amenities in our room were quite nice. We had a garden view room which did not allow us to see the ocean or pools from our balcony at all however our room was only for sleeping so that suited us fine. There are several food options available throughout the day so no reason for anyone to go hungry ever! We tried out the kayaks, catamarans, and snorkeling which were all available at no additional charge as long as you returned the equipment within the time frame communicated. We walked to the Marina twice during the week and found some great gift shops and saw the dolphins and manatees swimming at the dolphin discovery. The evening shows are lip-synched (as a previous poster mentioned) however the Lion King and Aladdin shows have great sets, incredible costumes, and the physical choreography is amazing - they are definitely worth seeing! We attended as a couple with another couple, however, this would also make a great family destination.

For an all inclusive we were very surprised at what was available to us. Choice of restaurants/food extensive and extremely good. Accommodation very comfortable which was cleaned every day. Staff very helpful and friendly. The resort extremely clean and tidy. Unfortunately the beach is extremely small and chaise lounges are lined up one after the other, if you able to find an empty one. Difficult to find a spot anytime after 8am, seems everyone puts their beach towel on a chair to reserve it.

Disappointed

Non-Privileged Room: Our room had one king bed. Coffee pot with no creamers/sweeteners. Use bottled water provided in room for coffee pot. Housekeeping brings in water bottles and puts them in the fridge. Closet contained safe, one extra pillow and one extra through, had to ask for an umbrella. Read other reviews not to use safe, so we just locked up our belongings in our luggage. TV has mostly spanish channels, but some english. AC was cold in the room, which we liked, but housekeeping would always turn off our AC everyday. Walls very very thin! Definitely bring ear plugs. I could hear the neighbors unzip their luggage, it was that thin. Large patio door that did lock, but did not keep noise out very well. Large curtain to help block out light. Bathroom: blowdryer with cool setting & nightlight built in. Two glass cups provided. Extra toilet paper and tissue provided. Shower was hot except for high traffic times. Shower had shampoo and body gel provided, no conditioner. Shower also had neat clothes dryer line in it. Plenty of towels provided daily. No fan in the bathroom for steam. Poor lighting to do makeup. Bathroom door did not have lock. Bathroom and room had tile, which is very slippery when wet. Beach: 3 areas of beach. All three areas are small but have their own perks. On the northern beaches, there is excellent snorkeling opportunities for beginners. I had brought along my own snorkel and I was very glad I did. I could go at my own leisure for as long as you want. You can borrow a snorkel from the Towel Hut, but after an hour use, they want to charge you $7. Beach has very soft sand. If you want to try snorkeling, be careful of the bottom, I did see jellyfish that were stuck to the rocks and grassy bottom. Not sure if they were dangerous jellyfish. I did not have flippers but I did bring along watershoes that did come in handy while snorkeling and during my other excursions. You can also use the kayaks and go sailing daily for free for a limited amount of time. Yes, there are people who wake up early and reserve spots at the pools/beach. The beaches in Mexico are also public beaches so you will see non-guests come onto the property from the stairs by the bridge on the north side, and they will bring their own coolers and come onto the beach and also take the chairs/loungers. They are not told to leave. There are no security guards on the beach, and I did not see any life guards on any of the beach areas. Also, you cannot go to anywhere on the beach or anywhere on the resort where you will not smell cigarette smoke. This was really unfortunate because it made me nauseas. i did not want to smell drugs on the beach, i wanted to smell the ocean breeze. Also on the beach, you would think that it would be quite in some areas, but it is not. The beaches are close to the pools and there are many large speakers around the pool areas where the Rave/Dance music is heard on the beach. Also unfortunate. There is a few beach bars that open at 9am. They provide the same drinks as the other bars on the resort. Ice/water that is served at the bars/restaurants is from filtered water. I did drink it, but it did have a funky smell. Also on the northern beaches, there is an area that has large rock steps going out into the ocean. Be sure to walk over there and look because there are many fish there always. Also in this same area, if there is a wedding planned for that day, they will kick you off of that area and you will have to find a chair somewhere else. Pools: Did not utilize the pools very much, as I enjoyed the beach more. Pools were cleaned every night. All the pools closed around 5pm. Pools had varying levels of depth. Some of the pools were much louder than others, however all pools were loud with people and the resort playing music. There is a pool designated just for pool volleyball. Two of the pools had bars attached that you could swim up to and sit at the barstools underwater. Crepes: There is a newer snack place that serves Crepes. These were very good! Served a variety of crapes including sweet varieties but also savory varieties. They also served ice cream, cookies, shakes, and had a full espresso bar (rare on the resort). The espresso bar was very nice to use in the afternoon. Wish there was one open early in the morning! Other espresso bar is located at the Abuelo Bar (near main lobby. Opened at 6pm) Restaurant Times: I did read reviews that the restaurants are also open for Lunch, but we always just ate at the buffets. However for Dinner, the restaurants opened up at either 6pm or 630. The buffets closed down between 5-6pm, same with the snack bar that closed at 5pm. Snack bar is in the Steakhouse Restaurant during the day. Between 5-6pm, it was hard to find a bar that was open or a place to get food. At the restaurants, you cannot order multiple quantity items. You only get one appetizer, one main course, and one dessert. (See pictures of some menus from the resort). There is also a juice bar located on resort called Ma Loo. Restaurant Food: the food at the resort was just average. Typical buffet quality. The quantity was there, the variation was there, but it did get old and I was burnt out. I had higher expectations for the food. None of the restaurants really served seafood, like crab legs, scallops, shrimp (except for BLoved if you are Privileged). So we wanted seafood so we went to the Marina next to the resort. Marina: Just a 10 min walk, or you can take a bike during the day (9-5), there is a huge marina to the south of the resort. Lots of bars/restaurants along the water front. Sushi restaurants, burgers, italian, gelato, and some that i probably didnt see! We found one that did serve amazing seafood. The marina also has a dolphin show that you can swim with the dolphins or you can watch (during the day). The marina stores/restaurants take US dollars which was nice, they also took credit cards. Very nice find! Entertainment Staff: There is a group of entertainment staff that run around the pools during the day and they play their loud music. I was honestly shocked at their behavior in the fact that they would literally grab people by their arms and pull them into their activity. At one point, they would even get into the pools and dunk people underwater and try to pull them out of the pools to try to get them to come dance. Evening shows: I was very shocked after reading the reviews and then coming to the resort to see the shows. Shocker alert: No one actually sings!!!! For every single show, everyone mouth-syncs!! I was so disappointed. What they do is, they take an audio recording of that musical (Lion King Broadway, or Aladdin Broadway) and they just dance to it while they mouth-sync. Yes they do have microphones on, but that is not their voices!!! People actually believe thats their voices!! You can tell that its a studio-recording. Its too perfect of a quality to be dancing around. I was most disappointed in this. I have seen the Lion King on Broadway and its the same exact songs and voices. So sad! Excursions: I had done a lot of research prior to this trip and I was dead-set on going to Xceret (Pronouced X-Carrot). I was under the impression that Xceret had ziplining and cave snorkeling. Our travel agent told us otherwise. We were also told that it is a very long day (8am-10pm) and it is very crouded. I read the reviews online and everyone says it was amazing. However, we instead chose to go with Adventuras Mayas. This company provides you with different options of activities and you choose what you want to do. We chose to do the Jungle ziplining, cave snorkeling in 2 caves, and 4 wheelers (quads). We were only gone from 8am-2pm, served authentic mexican lunch, and we were transported to and from the resort. I was so glad we chose this option!! There were no large crowds, no walking around forever in a park. We were taken to exactly where we needed to be and did our adventure. We did not want to go to an bird avery, or go look at cats in the cages. This excursions was really perfect of us. We paid about $100 US for each of us. Totally worth it! Could have skipped out on the 4wheelers are we have those at home, but the cave snorkeling was really worth the $100 there. Travel: took us an hour and a half from the airport to get there. Wifi: Free wifi. Wifi is throughout the resort. However, it is spotty. There were two full days that wifi was down.
