Never again!

rooms had tiny bugs in it. A lot of bars were closed after midnight. Pools were warm but it was so hot it felt like sitting in a hot tub in 90 degree weather. Beach was AWFUL full of seaweed. You need vouchers to get into the restaurant yet it's supposed to be all inclusive. No were to walk off the resort and explore. Food was not too bad except one spot. Staff was rude and not accommodating.

This was our first time traveling with Apple vacation. I feel that we were not given all information needed for our trip. For instance, when booking this trip we were under the impression that we would have 1/2 a day when we arrived and sum of the morning for a more relaxed leaving time. Since our resort was an hour a way from the airport, we lost time as we initially were boarded on a minivan waiting in the parking lot for a good 20 minutes to be shuttles lastly to our resort. The shuttle made multiple stops prior to ours. So after a very long travel day, were extremely tired when we finally arrived and were told we had to meet with someone regarding our return shuttle. After checking in and losing an entire day, pools at the resort closed early. UGH!! We were accommodated very nicely to celebrate our anniversary by the resort (a definite plus). The food was not impressive as we did upgrade to the privileged guests. Lastly, were instructed to leave 4 hours early for shuttle and airport entry, another 1/2 a day. We were simply disappointed with Apple as they didn't even mention either scenario. This is their expertise! Something we will have to consider when we decide on our next get away. Sorry apple vacation...... We were really expecting more!

The property is not brand new. The rooms are updated and the grounds are beautiful. The walkways is what gives the age away. The facilities are immaculate, the service great and the food from any restaurant there exceeded my expectations.

All and all you get what you pay for. The rooms where basic, wish they had a mini bar. The grounds are beautiful and the pools where perfect. The beach was perfect for my family because we like to snorkel, although, the seaweed was a bit of a drag. Our biggest complaint is the food. Not a lot of variety, dull and the restaurants don't offer the variety and amount we've had had other resorts. Many other resorts allow you to order whatever you would like, not Catalonia, one appetizer, entree and dessert. If you order off of the children's menu you forfeit anything on the adult menu. Our second complaint would be the rowdiness that ensued in the pool bars. We witnessed a fist fight and screaming match that last an hour! Hotel staff wasn't sure how to handle it and it definitely spoke to the customers you get at this low price point. Good vacation for my family but can't say we will return or recommend to our friends.

We had a great time and loved our hotel. It was a little far away from the airport which was not convenient. The beach and cabana was really nice except the seaweed problem, which is an issue at any resort in riviera maya. Other than that we had a great time and enjoyed our hotel a lot!

Just got back from a 5 day stay. We had an excellent time! The hotel and staff were wonderful. The beach was a bit small but we enjoyed it. The food was good at the buffets and the restaurants. Bloved was a favorite and the steak house. I didn't like the Tappas so much but my friend did. I don't eat seafood and it was mostly that. The bartenders were all great and so was the restaurant staffs. Our room was nice and very clean, I do wish the bathroom had a tub though. All around great vacation!

This hotel is rated a 4 golden apple and it was far better then that!! Only thing is you have to upgrade to privileged. Even with that we stayed on budget. Food was awesome. Only downfall is the beach is small so you cant take a long walk on the beach so if thats what your looking for this is not the place. There is a small beach which you can snorkel and swim in safely. You can walk to a small little town with cute little shops and places to eat. Also there is a Marina there where you can swim with dolphins which is real nice. They also have a gym which is inside the spa which had alot. We also received a free hydro therapy in the spa with our upgrade which was awesome!! There is a beach bar thats all open with comfy seating that was so relaxing and romantic. Would go back again for sure.

We had an excellent time! The staff was phenomenal! Tony, Esther, Armando, Georgio? At the beach bar, there were so many staff members that remembered us from day to day and knew what we liked to drink that it just makes the customer service experience that much more personal. I just cannot say enough about all of the staff how friendly and welcoming they all are, it was just an amazing time. The weather was perfect, the shows were entertaining and we made some new friends that I hope we can meet up with again some day. Thank you all for your hard work to make this much needed vacation a very memorable one.

This was our second visit to the Catalonia in as many years and as with the first time it was fantastic. We really do love this place and the feeling of belonging that you get when you're there. All the staff work so hard and always happy to help and assist with anything that you many need. Wanted to say a big Thank you to Oscar (Restaurant manager). Oscar you were an absolute star for the second year in a row, thank you for everything that you did for us. You are a huge credit to the Catalonia and i hope they realise this. We will definitely return in the not to distant further. Thank you Catalonia Rivera Maya for another fantastic holiday.

Sad to say, but this hotel has slipped badly

We have enjoyed many years at this hotel, staff have always been amazing, food of good quality albeit a bit repetitive, and we have previously felt like this was our second home. On our visit this year, we cannot believe the difference!! It all went wrong from the allocation of our room, from being promised a room as near the sea as possible ... we were allocated a room right at the back, facing a wall. Second room ... all, power including Air conditioning failed four times within one hour. Don't get me wrong, we were upgraded for the inconvenience of it all, but it really didn't take away the bad taste as it spoiled the start of the holiday as well as the wasted time to eventually get sorted. The quality of the food has dropped of the edge of the cliff in comparison to previous years. As repeat customers we really have seen changes, and not for the good. The staff we have always known, as being very happy are now doing what they need to do, but are clearly unhappy. The happy vibe that used to immerse the place has gone. Evening entertainment was never great, but again this has dropped further. Some serious thought needed in relation to evening entertainment. Such a shame to see this place sliding, can only assume that it must be coming from the top down. ... and it's now more expensive than ever. Sad to say, but we doubt we will be back anytime soon.

Staff of the hotel are extremely hardworking - witnessed staff working at the crack of dawn till late into the night! Entertainment staff was amazing as well! Bartenders were amazing! Overall, the stay at Catalonia Riviera Maya and Yucatán Beach was extremely pleasant and enjoyable! Thank you!

Can't fault hospitality or the friendliness of staff . However entertainment was more for the people who didn't speak English, That may sound ignorant but all the staff spoke English, the holiday was sold through an UK travel agent and a lot of guests were English speaking. This said the people who could understand were clearly enjoying it. Not only this Mexico just didn't have the wow factor. However just along from the hotel there is a marina full of bars and shops and restaurants and a dolphin.park , This was brilliant sitting in a bar watching the dolphins and for free! A bar call Naughti and another called The Pub both very good and very friendly and cheap, would definitely recommend the shredded beef chilli with nachos and cheese source with tomato salsa

Not impressed

We booked last minute 2 months before. Short story: beach was rubbish not inviting seaweed problem but not their fault. Buffet choice too small but we were spoilt in cape Verdi last year. Room only cleaned 4 days maybe 3 out of 7. This was because if one thing was not put away in cases or safe it was not cleaned but towels left. I'm on holiday and I'm not putting stuff away unless valuable. Even when I complained and told hotel staff we would be out on trips and we had put things away it still was not cleaned. 3 tiers clearly of class. We were bottom then or privelaged then exclusive. It was very much felt that class system. Pools too small even though you could use the sister hotel and maybe we should have but didn't want to. Never saw the entertainment too knackered. But I heard it was good. Staff polite pleasant. Hotel is in need of renovating and while we were there they were replacing a wooden at it holding up a balcony😕 . We went with tui rep not brilliant. Doesn't make clrar what is in American dollars or Mexican dollars we wanted to deal in pesos. So some got caught out on trips and many transport is not included. So be warned. Glad I went on June can't imagine what it's like when busy. Trips very expensive but amazing. Will not be back
