Overall Amazing
ALISHA I.

This resort was absolutely beautiful. The service was outstanding, the sit down restaurants were delicious, and the overall scenery was stunning. There were a few things that were kind of disappointing, but no where even close to ruining our time here, were the buffett. A lot of the food was cold. The seaweed on the beach. Definitely not something that could be helped, but if they got a tractor like the neighboring resorts they could keep up with it. And the coffee situation. They have a coffee shop, but it doesn't open until 10am. Ummm....I know I'm not the only person that wanted to have a cup of coffee on the beach in the morning. So having to go all the way to the lobby to get a very small cup of coffee and walk all the way back to the beach early in the morning was a pain and was by far the only thing I can really complain about. The coffee machine at the beach bar was broken so maybe they will get that fixed soon.

The beach had a lot of sea weed, they tried to clean the beach, but could not keep up with it, the hotels to the south did a better job with larger equipment. CHeck in was very slow for privileged! only one person available to check us in. Food was ok, Italian was the best, mexican was 2nd best, steak was thin and dried out at the steak house

Excellent hotel, wonderful staff, needs updating, beach had huge seaweed problem most of the time.

The hotel overall was very, very good and we enjoyed our stay. Yes the rooms, especially the washrooms, were in serious need of updating. However, everything was very clean and the cleaning staff was excellent. The big issue we had was the piles of seaweed on the beach. It was so much that we could not go in the ocean without our legs getting covered with seaweed. This is not a problem of the hotel although we wish the hotel would have cleaned up the seaweed more in front of our hotel as the neighboring hotels did. The seaweed, I understand, does come and go and the last day of our vacation the beach was remarkably free of seaweed. I would not have believed it , especially after having viewed the piles and piles of seaweed earlier in the week. Overall our experience was pretty positive and we did enjoy our week. I guess that it is pretty much hit or miss as to when they get the influx of seaweed on the beach.

Staff and resort were very nice. Money exchange was tricky. I enjoyed the smaller resort. We didn't have any trouble finding spots on the beach. Apple always takes good care of us.

Rating for the hotel is very good. Rating for Apple not so good. He didn't show up the entire week we were there. We booked our excursion through the hotel rep and the hotel was kind enough to arrange our pick up back to airport since Apple didn't take care of us.

Nice but too many smokers

If smoking bothers you, I wouldn't recommend this resort. There were ashtrays and smokers everywhere. It was impossible to sit on the beach or walk down the pathway without having smoke blown in your face.

Inclusive Hotel better than Apple!
GREGORY K.

Our vacation was overall great. We had an issue with an excursion scheduled through apple. We were going to book an excursion through the Hotel but the Apple rep booked us an excursion instead. We were never picked up for the much anticipate excursion. After waiting patiently for 45 minutes after our pick up time we went to the Hotel rep who was more than gracious to help track down the Apple rep. After a period of time the rep Apple rep and accused us for being late for the pick up when actually we were early and the excursion was not booked. We found out through another group who booked through Apple that Apple had messed their excursion up too. I was not mad at the mistake because mistakes happen, what was very disappointing was the Apple rep, Victor, who was quick to accuse us even though we were not at fault. We will recommend the resort Cantalonia Maroma, they did a great job, but will not Likely book through Apple again because of the attitude of indifference given to us by the Apple employee. Other than that the trip and resort was nice. Thanks

Fabulous holiday in paradise

Not sure why people say the food wasn't good as we thought all food in all restaurants was outstanding and not like the usual all inclusive slop! Drinks were strong and plentiful, although the pool/beach bar could do with more staff. Enrique on the beach deserves a separate 5 star as his service was superb and always smiling even on the hottest of days. Our room was a romantic suite and was simply beautiful and the largest room I have ever stayed in with a huge walk in wet room which had a large free standing bath feature. the surrounding voile curtain from ceiling to floor in our room was an added design touch and made the room very glamorous! I understand this room is a brand new option and is very worth while money wise. Miguel and his female assistant in customer services were very helpful when we had a problem and swiftly helped us with no fuss. Beach was clean and sun beds were as comfy as these things are..... Definitely upgrade to privileged as its worth it even just for the lunch option PLUS if you are from the UK you will expect that level as standard to be honest. Hope to go back later this year as we thoroughly enjoyed it.

This resort had limited entertainment after dark. Room staff were annoying. Food was bad. The best thing about this resort was the Japanese restaurant (which you could only eat at twice) and the pool. Drinks were terrible and the walk to the lobby from your room was awful with no options for assistance.

beautiful resort but slow/missing service in front dining room

This resort is quite nice with excellent pools, beach, and jungle surroundings. The ala cart restaurants were well staffed and served superb food. All the bars were attentive and had knowledgeable bartenders. The front dining area/buffet did a great buffet with grilled fish at lunch and dinner; that said the service in this area was sub par. The hostess would sit us at partially furnished tables, and in some cases dirty tables. Many times we had to scrounge for our own silverware and napkins. Rarely were we served water or coffee. On the 3 occasions a waiter took our drink order, I ordered a pepsi, they were never delivered. We were in the 'privileged' area, I would hate to see the service in the standard area. Not sure 'privilege' upgrade worth the money - it seems to only actually gain you an extra meal in the tapas bar.

Very nice hotel. Very clean and wonderful upgrades. Staff was great. Would only suggest that they take a look at the restaurants because the selections were not great and the food was not the best. Also should consider adding some night life to the location.

Anyone for golf?????

We are travelling to Catalonia Playa Maroma on 24th June for 2 weeks as a family of 4 - 2 adults and 2 children. While myself and the kids are going to swim with the dolphins my husband is partial to a game of golf and I wondered, if anyone is going to the hotel at the same time, and would fancy a game, can you pm me so we could maybe arrange prior? Joanne
