We had two condos here each in different buildings. They were not too far apart. Both were totally different in layout and furnishings. Both had living area upstairs and beds and baths downstairs. One was mostly upgraded and the other wasn't. Both had dishwashers and microwaves. I guess those condos were what was available for our dates. We had no issues during our stay. I can say that parking may not be as close to your condo as one might like. It's first come, first serve. The Plantation Restaurant is on the property so if your condo is close to it you may not be able to get a parking spot as close to your condo if restaurant is busy, which it is. So get your space early or you will be walking a bit to your room. The roads are not well lit at night but the walk ways are a little better. The property is beautiful and grounds well maintained. We had one ocean view room and one garden view room. The ocean view was great as we had a great view of the ocean from our balcony. The beach in front of the condo is a public beach and there is a small public parking lot. The shopping center across the main road is walking distance about 5 minutes away. It has several restaurants and shops. It is easy to cross the main road as drivers stop to let one cross the road. The Sheraton is next to the beach and the Marriott is on the other side of the beach. Both 5 minutes away. The whole area in Poipu we found very nice and friendly.

Beautiful resort, poor service

We were so looking forward to staying here for our 30th wedding anniversary. Everyone we talked to seemed to like the place, when we picked up the rental car the customer service rep asked us where we were staying and, upon hearing Kiahuna Plantation, remarked, "it is beautiful there". We agree. The grounds are beautifully manicured, the beach outstanding and the sea gloriously warm to swim in. It is an easy place to relax and enjoy ... Unfortunately the service was not. We had booked a sea view room and the first room was definitely NOT seaview. Additionally there was drilling noise next door as they renovated. So we went back to reception saying, "is there anything you need to tell us?" The lady instantly kn ew what we were talking about and offered us a new room. This room had seviews but also an empty apartment below that looked as if renovation was about to start. So, we went back to reception. Yes, the same lady confirmed that renovation was about to begin and there would be drilling throughout our stay! Somewhat upset we asked for a new room. That seemed to be a problem. She had no others available. The solution was that we stayed one night in the current room and changed room the following day. Not happy but ok with the arrangements we were then told we had to check out at 11am and the new room would not be available until 3pm! We had just stocked the fridge and were in the process of unpacking, so 4 hours without a room was not great. To cap it off they had no-one moving into our old room so there was no need to evict us before the new room was available but rules are rules ... Through it all the folks at reception were not friendly or sympathetic. The fact that we had travelled halfway across the world from Australia did not register and there was none of the famed US hospitality in evidence. We were not happy!

Lack of Integrity in billing and management department

I wanted to file a complaint with the Kiahuna resort. I recently tried to reserve a room with no deposit and free cancellation as it was listed (and still is - I can send you my screen shot from moments ago) on Expedia. When I had booked it, I was charged a two nights deposit which was in violation of the terms of my reservation. Upon calling the resort, they of course blamed it on everyone else except for themselves and I had no choice but to cancel the reservation. That is because I was paying a premium for the benefits of free cancellation and no deposit! Why would I pay extra if I don't get the benefit? Then when I went to process the free cancellation, the resort also tried to charge me a one night cancellation fee. When I called to get this resolved, they blamed Expedia again who had to step in to get my full refund for me. I never received an apology from the resort. The Kiahuna has shown a lack of detail and a lack of integrity in my situation.

Frustrating to say the least...

To the extent it was all the Kiahuna's "fault", I can't say for sure...what I can say, however, was that I felt blindsided by a few items; 1. That there was an additional $160 fee for a 1 night stay for cleaning 2. That my selection of a "partial ocean view", should have been renamed to "no ocean view", as I'm not sure what and where they are talking about in terms of the ocean view. I definitely knew which direction it was in, but they were definitely taking advantage of a description that is clearly being exaggerated. 3. That the pool was across the street and up a hill, and is not "on property". 4. That there was no AV in the unit...and I'm not sure I even saw it listed that it wasn't. Either way, it's an okay place, but it would have been nice to have the facts laid out a bit more clearly. I booked online with Google, and by the time I finished the transaction, I was locked in and didn't know about those other "issues" until it was too late. Thanks for listening.

Scam!

They charged us an extra $200 cleaning fee before we even stepped foot in the room. This is supposedly mandatory for every guest, but they made no mention of it to is before booking. So for a total of one night we paid $200 in cleaning fees and basically double the rate. Add that on top of the fact they guaranteed us a 2 bedroom and we only got a one bedroom with a sofa bed. The place smelled like cat litter, the light was super bright in the morning, and the roosters wake you up by 5 am. Would never recommend this place. Major scam and the front desk had no sympathy whatsoever.
